I'm first! I'm first! At least if I don't talk too long.

Good morning everyone.

Ann

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Brr- it is cold here- 32 deg with wind chills in the 20's. I awoke with a pounding headache- I could be a weather forecaster - when it changes I get a headache. Snow later they are saying...don't believe them!! LOL

Getting my hair whacked off- enough of growing it out. Beautician doesn't like me to have short hair, but I pay they bill, so short it's gonna be!

Tomorrow I'm getting my eyes tested. It will be three years in June since I've had them done and man, do I need differnet ones. While I was working I got new glasses every year (my eyes changed every year too!) Retired ins. for vision is the pits. I go to a local guy and I know he is pricier than others, but have gone to him for years and like to keep my business local. Besides,they will do anything or you and are real nice- plus with the cost of gas - they are close!

Lauri- good for you and the Animal Con. people- thumb your nose at that neighbor- he needs to get a life.

I used to make all my clothes, but don't do so anymore..I do love to make doll clothes tho - hopefully we'll have a girl in the family and I can stitch up some. Anyone remember 'stretch n sew'? I still have all those patterns!!

Mary, we mowed our lawn too! Looks nice - didn't get any edging done tho. Man, do we have the dandelions this year!! Always did like green and yellow together!

defoe- you mentiond topical lotions for arthritis. Do you use one? I never have- what is your favorite? I did use something called 'blue emu' for my sore arm and something made it feel better - don't know if it was that tho!

Well, time to go wash the hair and munch on an english muffin!

Rockford, IL(Zone 4b)

It's raining here this morning. We needed it!

I used to sew a lot when my daughter was little. I made a lot of clothes for her, and work clothes for me. Young and poor with a little one to feed and dress. The only sewing I do these days are patching Skip's hunting clothes and sewing on buttons. I still crochet, but never seem to finish anything. I've been working on a table cloth for two years.

Laurie - You go girl!! You have to wonder what makes people like that. He must have a really unhappy existance to place so little value on life, animal or otherwise.

Skip mowed in front of the house on Saturday and put down the spring lawn fertilizer. The lawn looks great! He mowed the back acres on Sunday, but not the lawn in the back yard. Not sure what he's up to, but I'm sure that as usual there's a reason.

I did a bad, bad thing yesterday. On my way home from work I stopped at two nursuries, to "look". It seems like the unusual ones are gone early in the season, so I figured I'd see what was there. I got two pulmonarias that were on my want list - Raspberry Spash and Diana Claire. I already have one Diana Claire, but I really wanted another one. I bought three polemonium Brise d' Anjou, three huechera Venus, and a brunnera Looking Glass. Sixty dollars later, and I can't even plant them yet. We're supposed to have a couple more freezes yet, so they'll be out with my wintersowing and into the garage when it's supposed to get cold at night. Skip should be glad that I stop into nursuries and spend on a whim, instead of the mall :) If the store doesn't sell plants or garden goodies, I hate shopping.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Good morning, I am up, but not very motivated about doing anything. The back is better, so I am not going to do anything that will change that. Still in my gown and robe, and drinking coffee.

Sarv, I have a topical arthritis compound called Bio Freeze. It feels very cold when you put it on, and it does help with pain. I have tried several, and most have some benefits, but I always open them and smell them before buying. Some of the smells are just overpowering.

It is overcast here today, and they are saying rain for later this afternoon. But it is warm, so if it does rain, it won't be one of the bone chillers.

Well, going to get dressed, and sort of straighten the house. I wil be back later to see what everyone's been up to.

Well, I was wondering where in the world everyone had been this morning, but when I tried to post this ... I got page not found again, so maybe others are having problems today also. :)

Sarv~ I can't believe it's still so cold up your way. It's already 77 here at 10:00. It's going to be a hot one! Whew, I'll be wanting to send you some
of this heat in the summer. I think it's going to be a *bad* one. Hope your hair cut turns out nice.

Stacey~ good for you on the plants! You sound like me. I only go to nurseries to look. ;) I *really* need to stop looking, though, cause I'm getting
more plants than I can take care of. LOL

Hi Defoe~ am waving at you!

I received a brug from a friend the other day and don't know a thing about it. while reading up on it the other day ... I saw that it is considered poisonous. Do y'all
know anything about these plants and should I be concerned about Kota? If so, I need to trade it before it gets too big.
Well, guess I better get up from here. We're having company tonight, and I need to figure out what to fix and do a bit of cleaning up. will check back
later to see what everyone else is up to today.
~Elaine~

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Elaine, many plants are poisonous, I think even tomatoes (plant, not fruit!). I wouldn't worry about the brug as most animals will not chew on the plants. I had some in my yard with a dog and 2 cats.

Yes, DG has been down a couple of times this morning.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. I've been up to ....nothing yet, except cooking my hubby's breakfast. This is my going to town day, so that will take a good chunk out of the day. I need to see the chiropractor again, I'll call when his office is open and see if I can get in today. Last week I was having that feeling of my hip not wanting to stay in place a few times, but maybe it readjusted the right way when I was sleeping since it didn't feel like that yesterday. He says they do that sometimes. I hope so. But things are not good in other places so I still need the snap, crack, and pop treatment. My hands were partly numb and tingly this morning before I got up. When I changed position they woke up. Add a little back ache way down low and I know some things are still not lined up correctly, but closer than they were a couple of months ago. I'm hoping not to be supporting Dr. Crunch too much longer.

Dcat, I'm glad to hear that your back is better. Be careful, take care of it.

Sarv, you must really mean short short hair when the beautician doesn't like it. Most of the complaints I hear about haircuts is that when a person says they just want a trim they come out with about half the hair they wanted to keep, and are upset because they had to pay for what they didn't want. Are your swollen fingers any better today? did the headache go away with some coffee?

Stacy, $60!! You buy some good plants, I hope they do well for you, and of course we expect to see pictures.

Last evening my hubby got the riding mower going and mowed around the shop and outside of the yard fence. That always raises a lot of dust and throws a few rocks because there are no defining lines between the driveways and the grassy/weedy areas. I waited until the dust settled to go feed the horses. Over toward town there was a lot of really black clouds with showers hanging. I kept watching it but it went along the mountains on the other side of the valley and never made it over the dry hills between us and town. I thought we might get a shower from the edge of it. This morning we have puffy white clouds, blue sky, no wind, ahhhh. As for the edging in my yard, it gets done a little at a time as I reclaim the margins of the flower beds from the invading quackgrass we call a lawn, so it never gets done all at once. The ugly spots keep me humble......

It's officially spring now, we have a starling down our woodstove chimney! They like to nest in holes and this was a deep one! I can hear him scratching around in there but can't get him out until he gets down into the firebox. Then I close the blinds on the living room windows, open the front door, open the woodstove door and hope he flies in a straight line out into the great outdoors instead of making a turn and hitting windows, sometimes on the other end of the house, or the wall, making a sooty smudge.

AmandaPanda kitty is sleeping on a footstool in the sun, and not helping me type this morning. I need to get dressed, feed the horses and water things in the greenhouse before I go to town. Yesterday 3 of the squash seeds I planted last week were up. I love it when the seeds come to life, provided they are flower or vegie seeds and not weeds. These were soaked overnight before planting and now the greenhouse is making them happy. They are in cell packs in a tray with a plastic lid.

Here's the amaryllis that's blooming now. It was supposed to be something else according to the picture and name of the box, but is fancier than what that was and when I looked it up it would have cost me 2 or 3x as much, so it was a nice mistake. (I have to look at the full size picture to see if I posted the right one with the picotee edges. Otherwise it will be Apple Blossom.)
Have a great day everyone, bye, see you later. ~~~~

Cool amaryllis! Love the pink edges.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Hi Folks,

Been out running aruond. It's not very nice out there. Gusty and occasional snow showers, but also occasional sun. Wish it were warmer. I've got some crocuses I need to move in the garden while I can still remember which ones they are.

Second student played at the Kiwanis Festival this morning and played quite nicely.On the way back, I dropped by the Audi body shop. I'm getting some bubbling of the paint on the pillar next to the windshield on my car. They took a picture and will try to get Audi to cover it under warranty which was a surprise to me because the car is nearly 9 years old. Then I looked at microwave ovens. One mistake I made when doing my kitchen in 1991 was to have the microwave built in rather than have a shelf built for it. Means that now when it needs to be replaced (the inside of the door is starting to rust badly), I have to get another trim kit for the microwave which costs more than the microwave does. I've talked to a couple of peole about rebuilding that section of cabinet, but nobody is enthusiastic about doing it and it would probably cost even more. I guess in another 15 years, I'm likely to be looking at moving into something much smaller; so the cheapest option seems to be another trim kit.

Came home. I guess the staff at the Dr's office told her I wasn't happy and there was a call from her. Just called back, and being lunch time, actually reached her. I guess they are trying some new things because we have a real shortage of family physicians and by having a nurse do some of the questions and preliminary stuff, they can make better use of the Dr's time. I told her the nurse needed to communicate with the patient not just the computer.

Sarv - hope the hair cut worked well and you got it as short as you want. Don't give a tip if you don't like it. Good luck with the eye appointment tomorrow.

sstateham and sarv, I've never been a big one for doll clothes - especially not for Barbie dolls ( and won't be when my daughter was able to buy a big bag of used Barbie clothes and accessories for $5 at a sale). But when my daughter was young, I made a large rag doll. She's at least 24" and maybe a big bigger. DGD has Fifi now, but Fifi desperately needs clothing. I seem to have gotten rid of the pattern in a weak moment; so I'm having to figure out a pattern for clothes for this doll. I figure I can make clothes that match what I make for Amy from the scraps. I just have to do it.

sstateham, how can buying lovely plants be a BAD thing? I'm hearing so much about pulmonarias, I'm gonna try some soon.

Bonnie, glad your back feels better. Did you get a massage or did it just get better?

Elaine, I've not tried brug's or datura's because they are poisonous. But I was thinking of the twins. Now that they are 4, it's probably OK.

Darius, glad to hear from you that DG has had a coule of problems. I got the "page not found" message a couple of times earlier. Will be sure to copy this message before sending just in case.

Mary, would you like to send some of that weather our way? I'm getting tired of cold and wet. Good luck getting the starling out of your stove. I love the Amaryllis. Sometimes mistakes happen for the best.

Hope every one else is having a good day. Need to start working on my speech for tomorrow evening.

Ann

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, after a tour outside, am back in. It is getting cloudier and it looks like the rain is not far away. When I was outside, happened to remember I had hyacinth bean seeds, Since I have a fence I want covered, took them out and planted several, also some sunflower seeds. I had a gold finch yesterday, so got some birdseed out, and hope he returns and brings his buddies. Filled all the hummingbird feeders and put them out, as I have already seen the first hummer. So it is just piddling stuff, but nice to be out.

Viann, no I didn't get a massage. I called, yesteday, no one answered, but left a message. No return call yet. Also called again this morning, so will see if they need my business or not.

Sarv, let us know how the hair cut went.

Well, gonna fetch something to eat, and then figure out something for this afternoon. It may turn into a good afternoon to read.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)

Good morning all you morning glories!

I finally have a part of a day I can call my own. I still have things I've got to get done today, but this morning I'm actually still home and not out the door by 0600. I have an appointment at 1130, then onto Mum's to take her to get her hair done, then home to fix supper.

We had an eventful weekend, DH was all prepared to put down the raised pad for my greenhouse and he got a call to go handle a situation with some of his sailors and it ended up being the biggest mess you ever saw. Without details, suffice it to say, there were law enforcement officers, NCIS officers, border patrol officers and a bazillion ATF folks at the scene. I can't believe people can get themselves into such messes and how can they disgrace their uniforms in the fashion they did is beyond me! So, there went our weekend as he ended up sending several sailors to the brig in Bangor pending the outcome of the investigation. They will later be remanded over for summary court martial and BCD's (bad conduct discharge aka as the big chicken dinner) and off to Leavenworth prison for the next 15-20 years at hard labour. I don't understand it, I just don't understand how young folks can come into the military and do some of the things they do. They act like they are still running the streets of the big city and they bring their gang stuff with them. You'd think this would be a way to escape their past lifestyles and turn themselves around, but no, they keep it going and get into the same garbage they were in at home. It pains me to see such youth and vitality wasted on prison and now a completely ruined life. They just don't get it, the mindset is, "It won't happen to me," but now they've discovered they aren't bigger than life after all, but it's too late.

Ahhh, me, I suppose it's not for me to ever understand. Geeze, I think retirement is looking better and better all the time.

I did a walk-about the yards yesterday before I left for work and I've got Callas coming up!!! Woohoo, it's the first time I've had something like that actually take root. I bought the starts at Walmart. I'm so excited. In the past, I've tried having Callas that I bought in a pot from some store already grown, but they wouldn't last for diddly. I'm hoping these will do well since they are growing from the tuber (is that the correct term?) and will be more acclimated to here instead of a greenhouse. These are the coloured ones, I really enjoy the white ones the most, but I thought I should put a little colour alongside the driveway. If they do well, they will be startling and that's the effect I want.

I planted the old red wagon with petunias and they are taking off nicely. I usually like the bright pink ones but DH asked if I would plant the blue ones this time. So, I did. I'm hoping they do well and cascade over the wagon as in years past.

Well, lads and lassies, it's time I hop in the shower and get ready for my appointment. I do wish to make one last comment to Sarv about the topical preparation for pain. I agree with MaryE about the BioFreeze, it's wonderful stuff. I use it often and add an adjunctive topical also. It's called "Tiger Balm Sport". It comes in a flat can, like an old Watkins flat tin. When I'm having troubles with my joints, I put the Tiger Balm Sport on first, then top it off with the BioFreeze. The masseuse I go to does that and I'm telling you, it's quite helpful. When I'm having a rheumatoid flare, I can hardly move. When I first get up in the morning when I'm having a flare, my DH helps me with using the Tiger Balm, then topping it off with the Bio Freeze. I get hours of help from the two as I don't care to use pain medications unless I have no other choice. It's bad enough I have to take the Prednisone if it's a bad flare and even then, unless I can't stand it at all, I don't do the Prednisone.

Well, it's off to the shower for me and then into town. I hope everyone has a wonderful day and even if you only get a short moment to enjoy your garden, take a walk-about, it's very good for the soul to see the wee ones grow.

Hugs to all. Tally ho! ~Babs~

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Me again, I just popped in quickly to show you a couple of things, but first have to say that it was somebody else who mentioned the Bio Freeze, but it's good information and I might need it. Thanks Babs.

I had a couple of surprises when I checked the greenhouse, here is the first one.

Thumbnail by MaryE
Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

And the second one. I put this bucket on the greenhouse furnace yesterday thinking the pilot light/sunshine combination would warm up the little bit of honey that was left in it to make it easier to get every last bit of it out. Then I forgot it and the furnace came on overnight. OOPS! I can't lift it off, so will have to wait until the furnace starts coming on tonight and the mess gets soft again.

Don't you think I should make a planter out of it? One of those that looks tipped over with plants spilling out of it. Anyhow I thought you should have a laugh today.

LOL, Mary! And that's the 2nd great amryllis I've seen today!

Did you get the epi cuttings?

LOL Mary! Sounds like something *I* would do!!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

LOL Mary. you've made my day!

Ann

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

LOL Mary - looks a tad like M5's faux rock- send it to her and she'll paint it and use it!! Beautiful amaryllis -I had the white one edged with pink too - very pretty. In fact mine are still sitting here in the family room. I've never kept them from year to year, so I need to read up on what to do with them in the summer.

Hair turned out ok= nothing wonderful. I had her 'do' it- usually I just come home and do it myself. But my folks were bringing out lunch, so it was easier to have her do it - mistake - she puts way too much gook in it and I never like it. Came home and rearranged it. I'll wash it tomorrow morning and see how it handles. Anyhow it is shorter and I feel better with it that way. The color is the pits tho- may have to address that problem! I'll have to make a note of Tiger Balm and Bio Freeze. All body joints feel good today (knocking on wood)

Babs- I love callas- I'd like some that will grow in this zone. I have some that I bring in every winter. Did you say 15 years in the clinker?? Man, those guys must have really done a big NO NO! Can't understand kids not making a clean break of thing either. It's like they've been given a second chance and even then screw that up.

I've decided I want new doors on my lower level kitchen cabinets. I want bead board with a border around the edge. I know DH could do it, but he is balking.
Darius - where are you??? I think I will make it one of my summer or fall projects - not saying which year tho LOL

Folks brought out lunch, gave DSF a hair cut and played two games of scrabble with my mom- I womped her good! Now I need to go to the store and get a couple of oil filters so DH will change my oil before my trip this weekend. It is so cold and windy out, that I wish I didn't have to go. It is much nicer sitting in my chair with my computer on my lap and a heating pad on my back.

Sarv, I wish you lived close. I *love* to play scrabble and the DH *hates* to play ... so guess who wins? Oh, I'm making you some broccoli salad again. :)

Am waving at everyone else~~

Busy day today! I got home from work early, and found jake in the shed building my bench - he just left, and it's finished. I'll pop out before it gets dark and take a picture or two. Granted, it's just a shed but it's MY shed now!! And it has a work bench!

VioletAnn - I think it would be charming to have the doll and your grand daughter have matching outfits!

Mary: the amarylis are gorgeous! LOL at the bucket - don't feel bad - I've done much dumber things without any effort what-so-ever!

back by the shed there's a bed of orange daylilies with a split rail fence. A couple of weeks ago I threw in sweet peas, and they're coming up nicely. I also tossed some lupine seed along the fench, and it looks like they're coming up, as well. Hard to tell, since they don't have their true leaves yet, but there's a lot of something in there. Knowing my luck, it's garlic mustard, and I'm hand watering the stuff. LOL

I swear by Tiger Balm. Best stuff on the planet, but it stinks to high heaven. I grew up in Singapore, and we used it for everything when I was a kid. I still have jars of it all over the house for my hands and knees (arthritis), sore backs, even stuffy noses. It was originally made by a Chinese herbalist, and when he died one of his sons started selling it in Singapore and Malaysia, where it caught on with the British. By the time WWII came around, and the Brits lost Singapore to the Japanese, they were exporting more to Europe than they sold locally. They even had a local park named after them - Tiger Balm Gardens, with bizzare chinese mythology statues. I think it's an amusement park now named Haw Par. Anyway, enough rambling, but it's great stuff.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Hi all I am in for the day and have got the vegi garden all in except for the extra plants which I am going to build a bed out in the field for and planted another 35 flowers in and around the yard, wounded the laundry monster but the dust bunnies all escaped.
Mary, your rides sound so wonderful. I used to take Salsa out at the crack of dawn on 3,000 acres and ride for hours. It does a soul good. And I am glad to know I am not the only one to melt a bucket with honey in it..:)

Stacy, yea you've got a bench for your shed...is it filled up with stuff yet??? I usually fill them right away and then spend days cleaning them off again..

Babs sorry about the weekend being shot to heck and It does make you wonder sometimes how some kids had'nt ended up in jail earlier..I love callas mine drowned this past winter so I may have to get more..

Sarv, I'd love to get my hair cut off but am too chicken to do it. I hope it goes well when you wash it and it behaves..Hope your back is feeling better today.

Love the amaryliss pictures and ~~~~ to all I haven't mentioned but must go feed the horse and me too...LOL I have'nt eaten today.......yet :) Lauri

Rockford, IL(Zone 4b)

It's not filled up yet, nope. It's pretty chilly out here, and I worked most of the day. I want to paint it to seal it before I get too much piled up on top.

Sarv - Happy haircut! I've been threatening to cut off my hair for years, but I don't think I ever will. I'm addicted to ponytails. The kitchen doors sounds like a fairly easy project. if he won't do it, you can always shame the manly-man by having a bunch of women handle the task instead. lol

sstateham - I wish I had a bench like that for potting.

Ann

Rockford, IL(Zone 4b)

Want me to send Jake to Canada? The lumber was about $50, and he only charged me $40 for labor. Sure beats anything I've seen in the stores at twice the price! If the shed falls down, the bench will still be there. It's solid as a rock! I can't wait to get it painted so I can use it!

i was going to have Skip cut in a hole so I could set a tub for potting soil down flush with the top, but he suggested using the big flexible cutting sheets instead... I think it's a great idea. Like these, but they have larger ones and Linens and Things that he uses for beside the grill

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Nice bench ss - I should take a pic of my potting kitchen! LOL is it a disaster! I just went out and covered 5 new clematis that are just getting started- the rest will have to sink or swim.

Been trying to get into chat - how come that thing is down again!! It is so frustrating....

DH is out changing the oil in my car. I heard him say a few 'blue words' = seems the guy at the car parts store gave him the wrong oil and without looking at it, he dumped it into the car. oh glory....just what I need.

We had 5 hawks circling our back yard all afternoon - I never saw them dive after anything - they were spooky to watch...almost sinister. This morning I watched 7 wild turkeys out in the field - the male had his feathers all spread- grandiose looking guy!

Time to watch American Idol - I'm hooked on that program!

Rockford, IL(Zone 4b)

There's a chat going in it's place in the Daves Forum...

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Lovely bucket, Mary! Aren't you glad it wasn't full? Perfect match for my fake rock, which now resides under the deck awaiting burial...as a barricade for pampas grass to keep it from spreading too far. Bee-yoo-tyful Amaryllis! I've never managed to keep one going for a second bloom.

Everybody had a full day today. I finished the laundry monster off, and he woke right back to life and said, scatter rugs need a spin in the washer, so it seems no matter what we do...he always comes back.

Installed a sliding basket in one of my lower kitchen cupboards...uhhh...that's not quite true, I timed it perfectly and after I marked where the screws should go in, DH arrived home and finished the job. Good thing. First time, I was able to pull myself back up off the floor, don't know if a second effort would have fared as well.

Sarv, I usually stick my head under the shower after I get "done"...they always put goop on it and turn it into a helmet. Last cut was almost dangerous, the girl didn't know when to stop. I think they usually keep cutting to try to match up the first side....then the other side....and then back again... Sounds like you had a fun day with the folks, nice to have them home again,

I brought back Arnican cream from France, it has lasted a long time and is a standby over in Europe. Heals a bruise like overnight.

Time to put my feet up, and watch some mindless entertainment, I'm bushed.

Back later to do tomorrow's link.

Sheila

Wow Sheila ... never heard of Arnican cream, but I sure do need some. I fell yesterday and near bout broke my leg. Hit it on a wood chair as I went down and clobbered it. Can hardly walk today. That's what I get for mindlessly walking around talking on the phone instead of paying attention where I was. There's just *some* things blind people just ought not do!! LOL

Oh Stacey ... I know you must have forgotten ... but I have first dibs on the fellow that made your potting bench. Remember? Ann can have him when I get through with him! LOL :)

Sarv, I'm with you. Can't stand all that gunk they put in your hair at the beauty shop. I can't fix it like that anyway. Wish mine would just make me look like me. It's so embarrassing when people see me right after I've been to the beauty shop and then a couple of days later ... cause I sure don't look like I did before! LOL

Well, hi to everyone else. Think I'll go get comfy now.
~Elaine~

Millbury, MA(Zone 5a)

Evening folks,

Gee, Mary, I liked your first surprise a whole lot more than your second one! From the looks of things it's bound to get rather "interesting" the next time the furnace comes on full force. Hope things go well at the chiropracter's and that you won't need many more sessions. Liked your "torch" as well. Sounds like it deserves to become a tradition.

Bonnie, glad to hear that your back was feeling better AND that you didn't take that as a sign that you should beat the heck out of it again trying to get too much accomplished. I think that I must have had a little touch of insanity myself yesterday. I ended up cooking from about the time I got off the phone with you until about 9:30 at night.

Lauriwilson, I never got around to posting yesterday, but I just wanted you to know that I was right there with the rest cheering you on for your run-in with the nosey neighbor. I hope the law enforcement officers read him the riot act!

Babs, so sorry that your weekend got blown out of the water! How long is it until your DH gets to retire? Thanks for the tip on the Tiger Balm and Bio Freeze. That could come in handy for both my DH and myself.

Sarv, glad that you had a good time with DM and DSF. Also glad your haircut was "okay".(that sure beats the heck out of having to wear a hat for the next month or so).

ss, nice potting bench. I end up having to make even more of a mess out of our front room upstairs. It already serves as my metal-working studio and a storeroom for DH's and DM's hoards of "stuff". We really don't have decent light indoors anywhere, but putting up shelves in the front (mostly south-facing) windows and sticking a few grow-lights up there is the best I can do. Just brought my big rosemary plant in from the greenhouse. Weather forecasters are predicting below freezing temps tonight and I'm not about to lose the plant that I've babied through two winters and DH's destructive moves to a frost.

V-ann, snow showers --- AAACCKKKK! Please don't send them here, we've had enough! Hope you were able to move the crocuses.

~~~~~to 101, M5, darius, and all those who haven't checked in lately. I'm sure we're all thinking of you anyway. Hope everyone has a peaceful night.
I'm here, just been vegging on the couch and hanging on the phone all evening. DD is going to adopt my old fat chair and a half and reupholster it (again, this will be it's third reincarnation) so I'm happy it will have a home. It's only twenty years old....
Ow, Elaine! You are sure beating the heck out of your legs lately, first the luncheon, now this! Arnica was an old time herbal remedy which apparently still finds favor in Europe. I think it's great, and when I run out I'll have to beg my friend in France to send me some more!
Time for me to crawl into bed, cold again tonight but hopefully, no frost or that other white stuff.
Here's tomorrow's link, I think. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/595539/
Hi There,
I'm another who can't stand all that gunk in the hair. I've had the same guy cutting my hair since 1977 and he wouldn't DARE put anything in my hair. It's no wonder young girls (and guys too maybe) have to wash their hair daily with all that stuff in it.
McCool - the snow showers headed east.It actually got quite pleasant out this afternoon. I was able to dig out my new, small crocuses and move them. But didn't have time to do the more massive move of some of the others. Didn't change my clothes as I had students from 3 on. It's supposed to freeze tonight; so I have all my seedlings in the house now where it's warm.
Sheila, I have a chair that's 34 years old. Been recovered once. Probably should be done again, but I could probably buy a new one for the cost. and I have a much older chair that's so massive we had to take the door off to get it in the house. It had been in my grandmother's house. I'll take a pic of it someday. You feel like you're sitting in a throne.
Well, I'm talking about the early days of the Food Cupboard at their AGM tomorrow since I've been around since almost the beginning. Haven't finished my talk. But I HAVE finished reading three years worth of minutes plus six months of minutes from the board that set it up and I took a lot of notes. Quite a trip down memory lane.
Getting late; so good night all.
Ann
Well, I ain't going to tomorrow's thread, cause it ain't tomorrow yet for me.
Well, the rain finally came about 1:00, and I just vegged this afternoon. Took a nap, but was awakened when the doorbell rang. Twas my preacher, giving me some materials for Sunday. He will be on vacation, and having a guest speaker. So made supper, and wonder of wonders DH Cleared the table and DID THE DISHES, all without me asking. He knows that my back has been very bad for several days, and I guess he felt sorry for me!! Whatever works. The neighbor across the road called this morning, to ask that I check the dog population, as a coyote had attacked their beagle. I went out and all were accounted for, and all without any marks. She called again about 5:00 p.m. saying they were just getting back from the emergency vets. Poor Homer the beagle had to have surgery to put him back together again. He had a puncture wound to his stomach, a severely lacerated hind leg, marks on his throat, and ears and tail. Another of their dogs evidently saved Homer's life, and had some minor wounds which didn't require vet attention. I worry all the time about Mr. B, when he goes out at night. My DM's Boston Terrier was killed 3 years ago by coyotes. He drug himself home, only to die from a slit throat, and loss of blood, before we could get him to the vet.
Sarv, glad the haircut turned out all right. I have an appointment tomorrow, and hope for results like yours. I have had the same beautician for 12 years, so usually, there are no surprises.
McCool, as I calculate it, that was about 6 hours of cooking. My God woman, who is gonna eat all that food? Do you need me to come help?
Mary, that is an amazing piece of art. You couldn't have planned it and done it like that in a hundred years. At least M5, has a purpose in mind for her "art work". Wonder what changes will happen with the next cycle of the furnace?
Nice bench ss, can you put me down on the "projects" schedule. If he gets to my house, I may keep him for awhile. Is it a teenager? It has been awhile, but if he likes fish, I can keep him for a long time.!!
Viann, no word from the massage place. It is apparent that they don't need my aches and pains. Can you imagine a business not returning calls. That is okay, there is another place in another town, that I will call tomorrow. Hope that they can see me on Thursday, as that is shopping day, and it would work perfectly.
101, what is up with the leg thing? Please heed this warning..... stay seated when talking on the telephone!! The only other thing you need is crutches!!
Well, I see that the clock has turned 12:00, and officially, it is tomorrow, and I need to post in tomorrow's forum.
So hope all have a good restful night, and a beautiful tomorrow to awaken to.
