Coffee and ....for Sunday April 23, 2006
I see you decided you better not wait until morning, we all get in a panic and post it. ROFLOL
Susan
=^..^=
Good Morning - 3am and guess who is up!! I am sleeping the max of 5 hrs and then the old body just has had it and I have to get out of bed.
.
You won't believe what kept going thru my mind last night while I was trying to nod off. My kitchen is absolutely filled with dirt, turbers, pots- all over the bar, and onto the floor etc. I kept thinking, what if DH had a heart attack and I had to call 911 - they would have to come thru the kitchen and what would they think of me?? pig - slob - white trash....etc. Now doesn't that beat all... I am going to try get ton of tubers potted up and then the mess cleaned up
But, I have a wedding shower at 1 and I am in charge of taking pics, so I have to get there early and leave late, so that shoots the afternoon completely.
Yesterday DH and I went to get two new storm doors - we disagreed on the ones we want, so didn't get any (grrr), but they did have bed edger bricks on sale (the ones that look like a moon with a bite out of it) and we got 270!! Now two strong young men came over to offer to help load and DH turned down both of them (he is a fanatic about scratching his truck....) So I had to lift all 270 up onto the truck bed while he arranged them in a huge box. How do you say aching back...cut up hands etc.
DIL wanted me to come over - DS wants a flower bed taken out and she wanted help moving things. Never did get that done...oh well Stayed for fresh walleye, fried mushrooms and humus...yum.
Darius -two houses and all that property AND water sounds like a little piece of heaven! Hope it has your name on it!
Yikes- losing front teeth - what a nightmare, but thank goodness for super glue! I have a reoccurring nightmare about my eye teeth getting lose and falling out (one of many dreams I have over and over) Another is I am teaching and they come and tell me I haven't taken all the classes needed to graduate...and I'm retired for heavens sakes!!
Well, see everyone at the 'normal' time later on...
It's amazing that when you get out of the "known" summer homes areas that you cn find those deals, isn't it darius?
If I ever sell my house, I would probably move closer to town but don't know how I live without all the privacy I have here.
As for the grant, they actually make a mortgage on the house. We don't make payments but the deal is: if I sell anytime within the next 8 years, I would have to pay back however many 1/8s of the loan that I haven't used. So if I sold the house 4 years from now, I would have to pay back half the costs of the rehab which would be $30,000, out of the sale. I think that is a pretty good deal
I keep remembering other things on the list of repairs, and repairing the foundation and adding automatic vents into it is another change. The house will certainly be sound when they're through....
Well, this may be all I get to write for awhile, unless I can use the computer in the office. Good bye, take care, are happy gardening.
Wishing you well in your new quarters while they spruce up your house, WS, but lurk when you get the opportunity just to keep up. Even if you can't post, we'll know you are out there.
It must be the outdoor air Sarv, I've been sleeping soundly for a few nights...but still waking up early. Lifting all those edgers, whew! I just tell DH I'm not as young as I used to be when he assumes I can handle a chore like that, and I won't do it.
Going to read my Sunday papers, have a lovely day, all, there's pecan coffee cake on the counter,help yourselves. ~~~ 'bye for now.
Sheila
Quoting m5
Got to the point where I could hardly straighten up anymore, and then the wind came up and it started to rain! I hollered at DH, " OH GOOD! IT"S RAINING >>>WE CAN QUIT!!!
HAHAHAHA-same here!! OMG it was supposed to rain in the morning yesterday, and I got up and started working outside....I was glad when the rain started. Today's going to be really yucky though, in the 30's right now and pouring.
darius-That property sounds PERFECT -two bungalows, water and 32 acres....wow. What could be wrong with it? Are you going to check it out?
ws-what a stressful time you are going through! I hope it's not all a nightmare- keep your eye on the prize!
i have to grab some coffee, read some more, and will be back.
Good Morning every one
Have been lurking just to see what you are busy with, and I have been very busy with gardening, and I feel like you do, Sheila, can't do things I used to think nothing about anymore. I planted about 30 new perennials, have lost quite a few of the ones I had, I think it was due to the lack of snow cover plus the deer had a feast. Also planted about 16 Dahlia tubers, a gift from dear friends, have not had Dahlias for many years.
I have an awful time planting because the soil here is nothing but clay and rocks, trhough it has been tilled it still talkes me for ever to just dig down to plant one of them after adding MG to improve the soil have already used 6, as large as the come, of MG.
It suppose to rain today so far it has not, it is cold and damp, had to push the thermostad up again, sheesh, thought the next time I will to that would ne next winter but I guesss this was just one of those silly dreams of mine.
Hope all coping with problems have been resolved and best of luck with
who are starting new advantures.
Good to see you Maria - bout time you got yourself back here - I was missing what you were serving for dinner on Wed.!
Did you plant your dahlia tubers outside??? I pot mine up inside, but then again I am in zone 5. It is 41 here today and supposed to get even chillier. What a stinky thing to have happen - I just love the 70's....furnace time again. drat.
Our things are just peeking up, so I don't know what I lost yet- except one astillebe didn't return - know that for sure. Oh well, win a few, lose a few.
Good Morning all,
I almost missed the daily. I forgot to mark it watched last night and I was going to blame it on Sheila. Hahahaha And to think I volunteered to do May, although no olne has accepted me yet. I better behave myself.
Dogs had me up early as usual. Snowy went out and I guess Baby decided it wasn't worth the trouble. I found out a few minutes later why, her collar tag was stuck in the floor register and she couldn't get up. The collar is a "soft" choke collar and doesn't have a hookup. It just slides over her head. She hasn't had it off in a while and I think her head is getting fatter. I managed to get it off and she was out the door like a shot. She had to go.
No big plans today. Just taking it easy for a change. Do a little piddling around gardening.
Maria, nice to hear from you. We missed seeing your smile these past few days.
Molly
:^)))
Morning all
Please pass me the 2X4. The DH set the clock wrong and woke me up way to early this morning. He had it set for his going to work time. Now I'm feeling grumpy. I must confess the pecan coffee cake is definitely helping though. It also helped to wake up to wonderful smells of roast with carrots and potatoes. I put on the English peas last night to have with it ... went outside to water and promptly forgot them. :-) so looks like we'll be having a salad instead.
Well, must get up and start getting ready for church. Will come back later and see what everyone has been up to. Amm Waving ~~~ and hoping everyone has a wonderful day.
...Elaine
Good morning,
Well, I did go out for dinner with the family last evening and it was very nice. They were good to the twins and offered grilled cheese sandwiches for the kids (albeit on thick foccacia bread which I don't think they could comfortably get in their mouths) and fries. Nolan heard "grilled" as "girl" and insisted he wanted a "boy" cheese sandwich. LOL I think both of them filled up on chips and ketchup.
But I still have the cold and a scratchy, almost sore, throat. I think I'll skip church today. Problem is, there is a "second hour" session after church when people break into discussion groups on the direction of the church and what they are looking for in a new minister. I had planned to drag viola to church and go directly to a 1:30 rehearsal (viola section only). Lunch is between sssions at church. But I know I don't feel like talking very much and I still probably shouldn't share my germs very far.
sarv - you sound as though you've been listening to your grandmother too much. Those thoughts about your kitchen are right up there with "wear clean underware in case you get hit by a car and have to go to the hospital".
Gonna have to finish this later. DH was in the bath and I thought I had time before breakfast, but he had a real short bath.
Ann
As some pne once said to me, 'nothng like being missed by friends and lovers' I agree with that but don't know any lovers that might miss me, LOL. but thanks, friends , I do appreciate being missed.
Samson woke me up at 4:30, I let him out, when he came back in I said to him, 'don't know about you but I am going back to bed' I did and sleeped for another hour.
Just came back from out of doors and discovered I missed planting to containers of poppies, guess I will do it later as soon as I get dressed, when ever that will be, LOL In a couple of weeks I will start planting
annuals and vegetables in the EB, it will be fun to watch them growing in there, hope it will turn out to be a success..
Sarv, I am also in zone 5 but it was suggested to me to cover dahlias up with the plastic cover that is used for keeping down the weeds but must be removed as soon as they break through the dirt. I think this is much easier than potting them first, at least for me since I do not have space some where warm for pots.
Thought I try a new perennial 'Pasque Flower' but wouldn't you know that is the one Samson decided to have something to chew on, before it was planted, grrrr
Pecan coffee cake? Waukesha is only and hour and half from here.....
Chuckling at "pass the 2x4". I do that to Skip a lot. Oopsie
Ouch WS - I know what you mean with the denture thing. I don't have them, but I broke my front tooth when I crashed my bicycle, and couldn't get into the dentist for four days. Figures that I had a customer presentation scheduled on day two. I picked up some of the waxy stuff at walgreens, and "molded" it to fill. Not attractive, but it was better than looking like a yokel. Funny dental story. Skip (DH) wears a partial that he takes out at night and sets on the bedside table. He woke up one morning last year, and the teeth were gone. We have two older kids, and he was convinced that they were messing with him. He was furiuos. I didn't think the kids would do something like that, and told him that either he misplaced it or the mice carried it away ( we live on the outskirts of town, and we get a lot of critters). Sure enough, two days later, I doing laundry and dropped a sock behind the dryer. When I pulled the dryer out, there was a mouse nest, with Skip's teeth and a few other goodies. What's really odd is that to get those teeth to the nest, the little mouse would have had to carry them across the carpeted bedroom, down a long carpeted hall, downstairs, and all the way across a carpeted basement! Remember the story "The Borrowers"? Anyway, I told Skip that the moral of is brush your teeth better, and the mice won't want to carry your leftovers home. He didn't think it was funny (I still think it's hilarious).
Darius - 32 acres with two bungalows, a pond, and a stream? That sounds great!!
ViolaAnn - Love the plates and the cute little red car.
Sarv - lol! I always worry that if the cops show up of some reason and see all my seedlings under grow lights they'll think I'm growing something other than flowers. You need to wear leather gloves when you're messing with those bricks!
Last night we went to my daughter's high school play, Sweet Charity. Alisha's a senior this year, and has been involved in drama since Jr High. She doesn't like to act, but is more into the technical part of things, and for her last production of High School she was Stage Manager. She did an awesome job, and we're very proud of her. Her boyfriend Andrew is already out of school, and a great kid. They've been going out for a couple of years now, and last night at the play we finally met his parents. Alisha's going to have to marry this kid, because I now know his mom's a gardener! Actually, he's a great guy anyway, smart, respectful, handsome, very responsible, and he helps me out a lot digging, painting, etc. After the play we took the kids out to dinner to celebrate, so I didn't get to bed until nearly midnight. I'm usually tucked in by 9:30.
As much as we could use rain, I'm hoping it stays nice long enough today to get some work done outside. I have a kid coming to build the potting bench in my shed, I need to finish up mulching the bed along the front walk way that I will be replanting when my bluestone order arrives, and I have the never ending task of pulling garlic mustard in the wooded walk. If things go well, I also want to go to an auction that's supposed to have alot of goodies. I need a chair for the shed, and old garden/farm tools to decorate the front of it. Hopefully they'll go cheap, and I can pick up some good stuff. Andrew painted the shed for me, but I will do the trim when I decide on a color. Windows and the door are in, and I've started moving all my stuff. The last requirement is the bench that should be built today! Pic of the shed in progress - this used to be Skip's storage shed, but my garden stuff was taking over his "fishing room" off the side of the house garage. "He decided" (I cajoled) to convert the pool stuff storage shed into a garden shed.
Stacy
Morning GOB's (and 'ettes)!
I try not to get too excited about any listed property until I actually see it, so I'm not holding my breath on the 32 acre one either. I think it's either a typo, or the land goes straight up! Besides they all could be sold before we can see them.
One of the properties we have marked is a 100 year old farmhouse on 4.35 acres. 3 BR, 2 full baths, leaded glass kitchen cabinets framed in wormy chestnut, a spring and stream, and fenced for horses. The house itself makes me think of dmcdevitt although this one doesn't appear to need rebuilding, nor have the amount of land she has.
My sister will take off the week after this one so we can scout houses and get my next CT Scan done. That means we could use both next weekend and the following weekend to extend our travel time to 9 days. It's a 2 day drive each way and I'll have to schedule my scan and appt. with the lung specialist either that Monday on the way up or on the Friday on the way back here.
The glitch could be Bruce, who is supposed to come next weekend to finish up the repairs. Don't know if my sister will be okay with him catching all the post-it notes she has all over the walls as reminders if she's not here.
Maria, glad to see you back amongst us!
Be Back Later,
A old farm house would be so homey so awesome.. i still think about country living but all will ever be think. or dream.. Be nice to have horses to.. Nothing like growing own food to.. pecan coffee cake hmm wish would float this way.. have great Sunday all.. blessings.
Twyla
yes Tball rained out yesterday but had a nice time with family that dropped by and dinner with neighbors!
All seem well and busy here glad to see everyone. Have a busy day today Hubby is off from work soon and we will do alot of family errands.
Rain has stopped but yesterday was a mess - housesitting another dog so that makes three in the house getting muddy and running all around so going to clean up and get ready to send him home and on with our day!
~~~~ waving to all and sending hugs to any who may need them. I read all and will check back!
Anne
Hi,
I'm back for a short time.
I'm also in the "Yikes" category about the broken denture. Amazing what you can do with super glue. Hope it holds together until you can get it replaced.
Darius - hope that property is as good as it sounds. With your skills, I'm sure you'll be able to do necessary repairs.
Sheila - was it you who was looking at a used BMW? Just check it out carefully. We've driven Audi's since 1973 and had a long string of used ones. They are expensive to repair when they get old. (And we did repair them because while my mother was in the nursing home and a bit before, I was heading to Rochester every six weeks or so. No Audi service between ottawa and Syracuse.) My latest is almost 9 yrs old - bought new. Has given me excellent xervice and I love it.Will keep it forever (or until it becomes prohibitively expensive to repair or until they have another decent RED color).
Did someone say pecan coffee cake? I'll have a piece. Thanks.
Well nearly lunch time. Gotta get cracking and ready for my 1:30 rehearsal.
Ann
Sounds like everybody has been busy again today. The weather here is sunny and warm, in the mid 70's. After early church, stopped by to see DMIL, came home and ate lunch, and then went to my DM's to fix her medicine for the week. She is a little under the weather today, so didn't go to church with me as scheduled. Mr. B is out laying in the sun, and is as happy as a clam. Since it has been warm, the fleas and ticks are coming out. He has Frontline Plus on, but he is carrying in ticks. Killed 3 this morning in the house. Also having an ant problem this year. If any food is left out, for a short period, the ants are coming in droves. Don't like to use chemicals, as Mr. B is very inquisitive, and could possibly injest some.
Don't have the energy to comment right now. My back started acting up again yesterday, continues today. So have taken some advil and gonna get a nap.
I have read everything, and will comment later.Going to a gospel music concert tonight, so it will be after I get home from that.
Well, hi all. I'm home and have lunch out of the way, but slipped in here before I got the kitchen cleaned up. :-) Will have to scoot back in there in a minute ... but hey y'all are addicting and just had to see what was up! LOL
Maria~ enjoyed our chat last night and we always miss you! Please tell Samson hi and I enjoyed talking to him, also! :) It sounds like you've been real busy with your plants. That naughty Samson for eating your 'Pasque Flower'! Poor guy ... maybe he wanted to garden too? hehehe
ViAnn, glad to hear you're up to getting out today, but hope your throat starts feeling better real soon. Sounds like you had a good time last night. LOL at the GS wanting a boy sandwich! That's too cute!
Defoe, so sorry your back is outta wack again. Maybe you're just trying to do too much! Slow down girl!
Stacey, can I borrow the young man that's building your potting bench when you finish with him? LOL That was a hoot about the DH and his stolen teeth!
Hi Mags, Hope, Darius, Sarv, McCool and anyone else I might have missed today. Guess I better get back in that kitchen. I think I hear it calling my name! LOL
... Elaine
How luscious it looks! YUM.
Excellent Maria! I'm having mine now with a cup of coffee, to ward off the cold damp gloom!!
Good Golly, Miss Molly! I just cut opened the canteloupe I bought this afternoon from a local roadside stand over near Haines City, and it tastes as good as it smells! I haven't had a canteloupe taste this good in years! (Sure wish I had bought more than one.) Got a bushel of juice oranges, too.
Also bought a fresh shucked coconut... love coconut milk and fresh coconut meat. Plus, a small papaya.
Then we went to the local Mexican Panaceria (bakery) and bought a tiny selection of pastries to try and a loaf of "Mexican Sweet Bread" which tastes like Challa to me. Yum!
Hi everyone- back from the wedding shower- it was a long one - over 3 hrs!! Saw a lot of friends and gabbed and gabbed. Food wasnt' very good...can you imagine...it was held at a good restaurant too.
Came home with a beautiful potted geranium. Gal who did this is so clever. She took a regular clay pot, covered it with leftover grout from a tile job they did, and dabbed on two shades of green. Oh, it was precious!! Everyone left with one - nice touch!
It has been rainy and cold here today - DH even made a fire in the woodstove. I came home and put on baggy sweats...ahh, comfort clothes.. Now if only someone would make dinner for me!!
Maria- you make the most delicious looking pastries. But who eats them? You are so trim, that I know you don't pig out on them. I don't dare make things like that or I will explode!!
Defoe - we don't have ticks in our area. Thank goodness!! DGS went for a visit down south and came home and they found one half burried in his tummy. His mom about freaked out! Do have those nasty fleas tho...
DH just made a comment about all my dirt in the upstairs kitchen. Guess I better clean it up if he is noticing it!!
Time to look in the frig/freezer/cupboard and see if anything jumps out at me!
LOL, Sarv, I do have one piece of what I bake just to make sure it is ok to give away to my neighbors and my children and of course over cyber space, makes me happy you all think it is edible LOL
darius-i'm just imagining the cantaloupe - you shoulda posted a piece for us LOL
What a great haul!!
Oh Maria ... thank you so much for the coffee cake. I wasn't planning any supper tonight as we had a big dinner, so I'm cutting me a piece and will have that and a cup of coffee! That suits me *just* fine! LOL
Darius, yum ... I do love a good canteloupe. We can get local ones here during the summer months, but they haven't started coming in this early. Just the mention of it makes me drool. When I fix for my MIL for Mother's Day ... I always have a platter of fresh fruit with canteloupe, fresh pineapple, strawberries and grapes.
Sarv, too bad the food wasn't tasty at the wedding shower , but think you hit the jack pot with the potted geranium. That's such a wonderful idea. Don't know how people think of things like that.
Well, got to go check on all my babies and feed the mosquitoes! LOL Waving at everyone.
~~~Elaine
Darius - growing up we would have a half a canteloupe with a big scoop of ice cream in it - double yum. That must have been the start of my love with ice cream. I am not a fan of honeydew melons tho - just no taste to them.
I've also tried the yellow watermelons - just can't get past the looks of it= much prefer the red! (seedless...)
All this talk of fresh fruit makes my mouth water...
DH and I watched the program on the pandemic flu tonight- mighty scarey how it happens. My mom told me she has already stocked up on enough can goods etc to last a month. I probably have enough already - just need more water.
I need something sweet- I'll take a piece of coffee cake...
I wonder how many others are taking this pandemic talk seriously enough to also do some preparing...
Sarv, your mother deserves a big ATTA BOY (girl) for at least trying to get prepared, and sounds like she is doing a good job. I am also buying up things ahead that can be kept in storage for a period of time....but like your mother, I really need more water. I have some large 55 gal. plastic containers (used to hold olives) and wondering if they would be good for storage of water..any comments?
Kris
Hi all,
Bonnie - sorry to hear about the back again. Try a massage therapist. Hope you enjoy the concert,
Hi Elaine. Went to rehearsal and parked myself all alone so as not to infect the rest of the viola section. Wouldn't want them all sick for the concert.
Maria - wow are we doiong well with coffee cakes today. Looks and tastes great. Hi to Samson.
Darius you're really making me hungry and I just ate. Fresh cantaloupe - I can smell it now. (Strange consider I can't breathe).
Bonnie - that flower pot sounds like a great idea. Too bad the food wasn't good at the shower.
Elaine - sorry to hear that you have mosquitoes. I'm afraid we'll have them soon enough. The first ones are big and lazy. Then in June we get some that just zoom in and bite. Screened porch is an absolute must if you want to sit out after dark.
Sarv - I get tired of hearing all the pandemic stuff. There isn't a lot we can do if it does happen. Meanwhile, a bunch of other things are big killers and get ignored.
I've finished my last Annual Report for the Food Cupboard. In view of the new program that seems to want to take over part of our area and give inferior service, I've detailed the areas we serve and the number of clients that come from each. E-mailed it to the GEFC. Will let successor print it out and get it ready for the meeting on Wednesday. Now, to start working on the talk I have to give about the early days of the FC......
Tomorrow and Tuesday, no aquafit as I have students competing in the Kiwanis Festival. Red Hatters are going out to lunch tomorrow, but I already had an appointment for a routine medical. I'll see how the cold feels and ask Dr. to give me an antibiotic if my throat is still sort of sore. Even if I don't fill it, it's better than trying to get an appointment in a few days if it doesn't clear up well. Her office is clear across town. (She used to be in this neighbourhood, but was spending up to 90 minutes daily commuting from her home which was detracting from her time with her family. She's 20 yrs (at least) younger than I am; so I opted to move with her rather than go with someone who took on some of her patients, but who is close to my age - retirement age.
Kris - are you new? Or have I just missed your earlier posts? If you're new, tell us more about yourself.
Ann
I am mostly a lurker....born and raised in ND, the job brought me to Texas 20+ yrs ago. Have been a member of Dave's since 2001, I think..
Love to read about your lives, I feel like I know you.
I will try to participate more, but had just watched the special about the pandenic tonight and wanted to get others ideas on it.
Kris
Ann, because you mentioned Samson, I have you to know right after I took the picture of the cake he sneaked to the table and help himself to that piece of cake I cut, lol
LOL, Maria. What a naughty boy.
Further more it has raisins soaked in rum in it , ha ha ha
Evening all,
Have been busy today. We went to Home Depot and BJ's (they're right opposite each other). I still needed half a dozen bags of pelletized lime to spread around the yard and wanted a couple of bags of topsoil for my new raised bed (there's never enough room in the veggie garden). I'm still waiting for the last of the frost and ice to melt out of the freezer so I can wipe it down and get stuff back out of the cooler and small freezer. Also cooked a decent meal (roast beef, roasted potatoes, gravy, and fresh asparagus --- even made a fruit dessert, since it was requested). Poor DH has been living on soup and yogurt because of his wacky work schedule for the past couple of weeks.
Welcome to the coffee klatch, Kris. I didn't see the program you mentioned, but have just figured that I'd try to get a flu shot, if possible, if there was a really serious one going around. Also figured I'd be likely to be one of the first to catch whatever bug was going around since I deal with the public in my store.
Maria, sounds like Samson has learned a bad trick or two! Glad to see you back here again. Please do let us know how the earthboxes work out.
Vi-ann, hope you get rid of that bug in record time. We're still battling with ours here. My mother sounds awful, but I don't think there's much that can be done. She always does get a flu shot (I never have), but she got this thing anyway.
darius, know what you mean about actually seeing the property. Many, many moons ago a former roommate and I went to see some property in Pennsylvania and found one of the wonders of the world ---- an actual uphill swamp. This was during a normally dry time of the year as well, could just imagine what that piece of land must be like in the Spring! Good luck house hunting --- hope you have much better luck than I did.
Hey sarv, sounds like you and Bonnie are in a competition to see who can wreck her back first. Cut it out, both of you! Seriously, you both have me a bit worried for you. Guess I shouldn't talk though, I'm one of those people who always figures that I "ought" to be able to pick up heavier weights, work a bit harder, etc. I'm lucky that I have a DH who seems to take the opposite view about it --- has fits when he sees me trying to pick up a 40 or 50 lb. bag and so on.
Hi 101. Have you ever tried those little battery operated gadgets that are supposed to repel mosquitos? I got one for DH a few years ago because every mosquito within a five mile radius seems to home in on him. I'm not sure if it helped or not. How are the rest of your plants doing? You haven't mentioned the squirrels in the last couple of posts. Have they finally had enough of messing with your plants? I'm seriously considering mixing some cayenne pepper in with the next batch of peanut butter suet. I don't really mind them having SOME of it, but they're such greedy little things that they don't leave much for the birds.
I know that I've left some people out this time --- please don't be offended. I have read everything, but can't remember it all and have to get out of this chair and go deal with my freezer. Goodnight.
Hello again, I'm back from the concert. It was really good, although they were expecting a rather large crowd, and it wasn't that. The music was good, and really uplifting.
I am not gonna even try to comment, although I said I would. Everybody has been so busy, and I have been such a slug today. Mr. B and I took a long nap this afternoon, and that helped, but still have that "run over by a mack truck" feeling.
Viann, since nothing has helped with the back problems, I am gonna call first thing in the morning, and see if the new place in town can take me. I am super sensitive to touch on my back, and have my doubts that I can endure it. But will give a warning in advance, and if it doesn't work, nothing lost. This is so stupid, but cannot abide anybody touching my back. Had to have breaks in allergy testing, to regroup and endure it again. I don't know where this aversion comes from, but it is real.
Well, I am gonna try to go to bed early tonight, and see if more sleep helps this old body.
I am ~~~frantically at everybody. So sorry that I didn't participate in your chat today. I promise I will try to do better, but got to feel better before that happens.
Good night everybody.
Hi All,
Just wanted to see how everything is going with everyone,,,,but I see that is impossible,,,LOL So, i won't comment much.
Had some nice rain the past couple of days and the plants have been lovin' it. I checked the hostas again today and found another 97 coming,,,,yipeeeeeeee. Still have plenty that I'm waiting on though. My knees and back were near death when I was done,,,but,,,Had to clean up the garden in the center of the yard. I have some Ribbon grass, daff's, Irises and Sea Holly out there. I never cut everything back in the Fall,,,,so,,,,got r done today.
Hosta co-op is going well. Marie has been doing most of the work,,,,, keeping track everyone's orders and sending out d-mail confirmations. I have been keeping track of the numbers on another site so Steve can see where we are with each plant. Feel guilty that she's doing most of the work. I set up the page for listing and did some of the prep work,,,then she had to take over. There is No way I would have been able to keep track while working.
My Mom is up for the weekend. Had dinner at Gran's Friday night. Dinner at Aunt Pat's tonight. Tomorrow we're going shopping and out for Chinese for lunch. Have to look for a few things or I wouldn't even go,,,don't want to be spending that money!!!!!!
Well, hope everyone sleeps well. See you tomorrow,,,,hopefully.

Oh man! Did I say something about dieting earlier this week? Apparently my brain shuts down when I get an appetite for something. I told you we loaded up on crab earlier this week...which resulted in a good quantity of leftovers. Tonight I made spare ribs using Alton Brown's recipe, and frankly, I like mine better.... I usually braise mine for a short time before I put them in a slow oven, to get the fat off. Then after a couple hours, I turn the heat up to brown them just a bit. Then I add my own bbq sauce, the recipe came from a newspaper that used to exist, called the Observer. It's a Kansas City style, with a little heat and a lot of flavor. So, Alton can keep his recipe. Instead of a side of potatoes or rice, I made a corn and crab chowder, which turned out really delicious. So, I am stuffed. And still had some ice cream a litle while ago.
Ann, it sounds troublesome that another food pantry wants to open so near one that has been run so successfully. Do they feel there is a need in their immediate area? Certainly there are always needy people, but it doesn't seem that duplication will serve much of a purpose. Let us know how your trek through the history goes, I'm sure your audience will be fascinated.
Elaine, if you are going to feed mosquitos, ask them to stay down there with you. We'll have them soon enough, but since we had a relatively dry winter, maybe not hordes of them. As soon as I walk outside, the Head Mosquito yells to the rest of the troops "LUNCH" and they all come looking for me. Our mosquitos are enormous.
I hate the smell of repellent, maybe I should try one of those machines, or tuck a Bounce fabric sheet in my pocket.
I've seen Kris on other threads, Welcome, don't just lurk, stop in and visit once in a while. Or every day if you feel like it.
Maria, Samson is learning lots of new things isn't he...naughty boy! Sammi had his face up in DH's bowl of ice cream, but two stern" NO"s and being put down on the floor did the job. Then he came up and just sat there looking terribly hungry and sad. Little beggar. He had some just once and upchucked it, so that was the end of that. Your coffee cake looked delicious, I can see why a toothpick wouldn't do the job as a tester.
McCool and Sarv, and Kris, I saw the previews of that pandemic program and decided not to watch it. We are turning into a nation of fear, and the media capitalizes on it. I have enough to worry about, and it doesn't seem that storing water and food is going to be of much help in terms of survival.. At some point, you will be exposed to something, you can't hide in your homes forever. Like the masking tape and plastic recommended by Homeland Security....useless measures. Pretty soon they'll have us all wearing aluminum foil helmets.
~~~ to everyone and saying good night, will attempt tomorrow's link and hope the cybergremlins don't eat this one. Hmmm, just previewed this and saw a warning from Admin. about language. Is everyone getting this or did I say something BAD?
