Two days in a row! Well Baby was crying (my other dog you know). That trip she made to the dog sitters got her a flea bite or two, which she is very allergic to. Anyway, she woke me up at 6. Still dark, but now I am wide awake so I made the coffee and will try to get my day planned.

I sprayed oven cleaner in last night so that has to be first then some vacume and dusting. Then I get out for gardening.

I almost bought a Briggs & Stratten tiller the other day but it went fast. I didn't have enough cash on me. There still always the rake and shovel and elbow grease. That is what is in store today. I have numerous grassess and gingers I need to separate for potting or planting.

But the weather looks good for it. It's cool, upper 40's right now and no more rain is predicted for the week.

Coffee is ready. BBL

Morning, I'll try to be quick on a background on Salsa. He is a 22 yr old Quarter Horse that I fell in love with when he was 18. He is not a horse more like a 2 yr old kid...My friends husband told me his wife was selling him and that he has ringbone, if he wasn't sold soon he was going to the auction to be dog food, come look at him...I did and fell in love after a ride. So I bought him knowing full well I might have only 3-5 years of riding him left. Last Friday evening He stepped straight down, 2 feet deep into a hole in the field and did some damage to his ankle/tendon and I have him up in a 14x14 corral and his leg wrapped up to help support his ankle. His appointment is Thursday for x-rays and a possible temporary nerve block. He has a hard time putting too much pressure onto that leg. He is currently on 2grams of Bute morning and night for pain and does love his drugs as it's nap time 1/2 hour after eating it. As for the mucking it's just pulling wheelbarrow loads of poo and wet straw outof the stall/corral twice a day.
As for me I was pulling the last of the bad hay out of the shed, it was full of sand, when I slipped and one leg went one way and the other went out the door and the bale slammed me against the door frame and reinjured an old back injury I got from when I was a nurse, I'm o.k. just sore and stiff. Got a 20 min hiney chewing for not getting help from DH, but I as usual was just doing it....
Here is a picture of my old man.......

Good Morning- this is gonna be a fast one today as I am alloting myself only 15 min on here, then off to some major cleaning (or stashing...) My folks will arrive around 2 today. The always stay for dinner, hair cuts and a game or two of scrabble. It will be so good to see them after 5 months!! Can hardly wait. My mom is (was) a wonderful housekeeper, but her sight is failing, so I don't have to be so terribly picky anymore. She used to come and clean for me while I was at work - oh it was heaven to return home to a 'clean' smelling house!! Now I go help her clean -tables have turned..

Joy,KG - I cannot get enough reading....I have books all over. Don't tell anyone, but in the bedroom I sleep in, I have one whole dresser stuffed with books!! LOL - my clothes are everywhere else!! I just finished Jan Karons last book - it was ok, but I really loved the first 4!! I've tried listening to books on tape, but just can't do it - I can't tell the characters apart...darn, I could clean/garden while listening to a book- that would kill two birds with one stone!

I sent my taxes in today!!! Glad to get the dirty deed done for another year.

Today's chore list:: Clean upper and lower parts of the house (parents can't climb stairs easily, so hopefully they won't visit the upstairs!!), go to h/p, post office, grocery store, and garden!! I need to get my dahlias potted up. I wish I had purchased some cannas - I have terrible luck over wintering them - and this year was a bust too.

Molly -I laugh at all your dogs...wish I could have one again..Are you going into selling plants too? I am envious at all of them you are purchasing...Sat I am spending all day going to my favorite garden centers. They all open the same day and have percentages off - what's a gal to do!! It is DGS's first soccer game, but my gardening love won out over that!! LOL DH can go to the game.

Oz- was that your friend (ex friend) who was caught? (can't remember...) Anyhow, what a total slime bucket. I have no use for people who commit crimes like that -string him up and let him hang. Never would want to see the whites of his eyes again. How can anyone be so low. (stepping off the soap box now)

Well, time to go - I'll check back for another 15 min after I clean for a bit..

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Good morning every one
it is a crispy one here, only 27' or 3' celsius
Samson woke me up an hour ago that was an hour before he usually does, it is almost as if he knew it is beautiful out of doors with the kind of temperature he likes.
Don't have any plans today except paying bills, doing laundry and cleaning up the house. Found a new recipe for cookies I like to try making if I do I shall put them out for you. Garden work is done so far, I am just waiting now for planting some annuals after the frost date and getting busy with the earth boxes for vegetables. I don't do seeds as I have no green house nor a place in the house to start them up.
My grandson and his family are coming to visit for Easter, I am looking forward to see them again, especially my GGD who is now 4 years old.

Verona, ON

Don't have a sweet for the table this morning but when I was having my early morning wanders decided to rework a new recipe that I tried on Sat for Shrimp, Crab Spinach Lasagna - it was ok Sat but not just the perfect taste for us. Man oh man this one sure turnede out, My DH who came sleep through anything got up about 5 am and wandered into the kitchen demanding a piece of the "smell". Breakfast in our home isn't always a traditional one.
Although we did but Maply Syrup from a farmer up the road so I made Pancakes and Sausages both Sat and Sun. Hopefully that will satisfy Dh's need for a "regular" breaf]kfast. Syrup was fantatstic and I am so glad as I know they were worried about the sap run.
Sounds like we have alot of readers here on Coffee. I read everything including as many newspapers as I can lay my hands on in a day. Just going to start The Night of the Dance by James Hume. New author to me but the book was an Edgar Award Finallist.
Have you all finished your taxes? Yours have to be in by the fifteenth, right? Grrr, I hate having to do all the paperwork.
Cool but sunny so it means I can get into the garden before I have to go to work later this morning That's going to have to suffice as my Huff and Puff.
Oh Sarv, how wonderful you are able to enjoy your parents company and that you look forward to them returning. I called my mother yesterday and she couldn't even remember that it was me calling by the end of the conversation. *Sigh* She is a 6 hour drive from me and I do worry about her daily activities even though she has a Homemaker stop in every day.
Darius, hope things are going well at you sis's.
Maria, are you planting tomatoes and cucs by your front door or are you going to use the EB? The pics of your old homestead on Owls were wonderful.... no wonder you speak of the farmhouse with such warm memories.
Gotta go...... greetings to all I missed..... there are wild turkeys down near the bunkie and I want to get as close to them as I can.
Have a fantastic day everyone.
Dianne

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, Good Morning all. Seems like everybody has a plan for today. It is cool here, had frost last night, but is supposed to warm up and be a beautiful day.

Lauriewilson, Salsa is a nice looking horse. Sure hope that you get that leg well, and can go riding soon.

Maria, Samson has spring fever. Can't waste good daylight being in the house. I suppose he will be your new alarm clock for awhile.

Sarv, glad to hear that your DM and SF will be coming over. After 5 months gone, you are sure gonna have some catching up to do. Don't do too much cleaning, you will be so tired you won't enjoy the visit.

Molly, spraying the oven the night before, almost always makes it impossible to put it off again. I have a self cleaning oven, and I don't even like to use that, for Pete's sake. Lexy is just so pretty. Hope all of them get along after a slow introduction. My last Jack Russell was allergice to fleas, so I know how miserable Baby must be.

101, we missed each other yesterday. Sundays are busy here too. DH and I went out yesterday afternoon and were doing some stuff in the yard, got carried away, and when we made it in, it was too late to get ready for church. One of the members was puttng on an organ program of lent, easter music, so was disappointed that we didn't get there.

Well, I have a chiro appointment at 9:30, then I am going to head into Louisville, to look for some accessories to dress up a suit that I plan to wear for Easter. I plan on going to garden Ridge, and trying to find some chair pads for the dining area. Since I painted a little while ago, need to find some that match the new paint.

Well, got to get going, I will check back later.

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

i hope this isn't pesty, but what is "owls"? i would like to see the homestead pictures.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

dmc. it is in Parkinglot , the joke and chat thread, but t is not the house itself it is the front yard because of the brick front yard
I will look for the house picture and post it there

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Hi! i'm back properly to greet one and all and report....SUN...and going up to 60 today!
(I was hunting for the homestead pictures)

dcat-glad to hear you missed the tornadoes. I hope your chiro goes well -no more pain!! Sounds like a fun day planned.

kidneyguy-Nobody appreciates a spring day like northerners!!

Maria-you will have such a nice Easter with GGD!

sarv-your descriptions always make me laugh, your cleaning strategy in particular! You're lucky to have parents! (I am the worlds worst housekeeper, sorry, if I had a picky mother I'd be in big trouble). you can always reduce the wattage in the lightbulbs too, or better yet - candlelight!

lauri-I love your "old guy". Good for you giving him a loving home. I have an old guy with ringbone - well into his 20's, rescued from the harness track where he was headed for dog food. I still trail ride him, little kids love to ride him, he's just a pet. (funny as heck to watch)
I'll hunt for the photo where i took him to the swimming hole

Molly-the flea allergy sounds miserable. You probably get a lot of fleas down there? Like dcat, my oven is self cleaning and even so I never remember to push the button!

Kelly-I'll be praying for Bill getting the job today too. you need a break, although yesterday you sounded less stressed....or was it the pain in your arms taking precedence?;-) It sure helps me, getting outside. Oh, and Tully isn't really beautiful, she's a mess! But thanks.

Joy-sorry if I missed this (wouldn't be the first time something went over my head) but what is your business? Do you have a website we can visit?

Elaine-sounds like things are going well there. It's so nice to hear people sounding out of breath and happy from being in the garden!! Your bike accident sounded bad - sand and loose gravel are treacherous. It scares me here because the roads are busy and if you pull too far to the edge on the bike, you head into the soft shoulder and lose control...Seems to be a very common way to get hurt.

Ann-can you tell where my head is...when I read about your organizing for the viola congress I was picturing little pansy-like faces as if you're organizing thousands of viola cultivars!! LOLOL took a minute before I remembered!

9kitty-please send some photos when the clematis blooms! i'm so looking forward to them!

dmc, I love him he's pretty and our horses must be cousins!! Mine loves the swimming holes here and if you are bareback you are going for a swim!! With the saddle on he justs wades thru and sighs real big.

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

lauri, what is ringbone? The old boy sure looks pretty.
sarv, do you like Amy Tan? I just finished the Bonesetter's Daughter and really liked it after a slow start. I'd send it to you for postage if you'd like. This is an offer to you too, Kidneyguy.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Oven cleaning and vacuming. These are the times I really miss my housekeeper. But I didn't always spoil myself so I do know how to do those things, but will grumble if you don't mind. Three big chunks in the oven needs extra attention. It's a brand new stove this winter, my very first new one in my whole life. I hate to scrape off the finish with abrasives, so I keep soaking them. By the end of the morning I will be finished.

Lexy is a female and she is now having her food with the other two dogs. She is really quite sweet, albeit, very large. Yesterday I was hauling the garden cart down the drive to put some plants in by the street. Jeremy had brought Lexy out for a walk. I called her and she came running down to me. Quite proud that she didn't trample the forest floor, but stayed in the driveway:^))). She is a little cross-eyed so has a slightly scarey look to her face. For protection, that is not a bad thing.

My dogs have been on Sentinel flea meds for many years now. The fleas get sterile, then die off in the territory the dogs hang out at. Like magic, no more fleas. Then Baby is okay. She just picked up these bites when she was at the sitters in Belleview during my absense. There will also be a transition of fleas that Lexy has brought. For now I am giving her half pills of benedryl to cut the itching.

Lexy gets a bath today when it warms up a little more.
That ought to be fun. 150 pounds. Jeremy is doing the deed and he's pretty strong at 220. I want to watch.

I am gathering dog hair to take up and put in the veggie garden. We think rabbits ate the lettuce and I want to have the dog smell up there. I've already put in Marigolds and planted garlic and onions. Anything to keep the salad eaters away.

dmc,
just found pictures of farm house in Jokes and chat as a continuation

Hi all
Well, I'm up and am batteling the monster again today. Will be dragging out that *hated* vac also. This is a short week, so will have to smush 2 days into one. Yuck! There's a nip in the air today, but it's pretty so I won't complain.

Did a long post last night and it took me forever, so I'm just going to wave right now. Will check in later as I'll be needing a rest. LOL Y'all have a blessed day!

Maria, that house is so perfect, it is my idea of the perfect home. You have so many wonderful pictures to share! I feel like I'm a pain to keep asking to see more, but I do enjoy them hugely. I printed out your blog so I could re read it, and I would love for your story to continue. Maybe you don't realize how interesting your life has been compared to, say, mine! But i think lots of people are fascinated by all the things you have done.

lauri-i can just imagine his big sigh when he's in the water with a saddle on!! (Better than taking a roll). i hope he will be fine and not have pain....Sorry to hear you slipped and fell too, ouch!

Molly-have you considered a cart and harness for Lexie? I bet she could haul a lot for you, and dog food will be cheaper than gas for a lawn tractor!!! LOL

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Morning all.
Haven't been around here lately.
Won't bore you all with the horrible details but last week I had quite a shock.
My father is going thru some short time chemo. and came home last Wed. to a deputy sheriff at his doorstep.
He came to tell them that their son/my brother had committed suicide in New Mexico. My parents called my that nite to tell me the news. I balled over and over on the phone.
WHY!!!! Do people do this!!!!
He was such a very good and smart, well educated man but has been thru so much in the past 10 years. He was a mechanical engineer who used to work at Boeing, had his own machine shop later, and then ended up getting divorced.
Since then he was lost for some reason. So he sold his machine shop, bought a motorhome and just roam around the US riding his 4-wheeler and parasailing the mts.
We hadn't heard from him for a long time, 2 months. He usually chats with my dad every couple weeks. So we were trying to find him to tell him about dad's cancer and to see if he was alright.
Well, he did finally call the Sat. I was there. He just yelled and screamed at my mom who had answered the phone about he will decide on when he would talk to them and just leave him alone. Then he just hung up on her. She never got to say a word to tell him about dad.
So 7 hrs later he shot himself with a rifle in his motorhome!
My son is so shocked on how anyone can do that to themselves.
So life has been unreal around here.
You always watch tv, read, and see others who have things like this happen, BUT you never ever think it would happen to your family!
LIFE IS PRECIOUS!!!!
There is always something, someone, there for you, you just have to find it in time!

Do want to say that this weekend I did some gardening to get away from it all. Am shoveling about 15 yards of soil around the yard. Am thinking of taking out the front lawn and just making flower beds instead.
More dahlias!
So am glad that I have gardening to fall back on to just go outside and see the beauty of things growing so nicely while dealing with it all.

Remember, LIFE IS PRECIOUS!
Later, Carol

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Carol_I am SO SO SORRY for you and your family and I will be praying for peace and comfort for all of you, I can't imagine this on top of your father's cancer. i really have no idea what to say. I'm just so sorry.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Daisy,

This is so terrible to have happened on top of your father' serious illness, plus the awful grief for you mother and, of course, you too and son. It is a terrible thing to go through, I can understand, my father also commited suicide, it was very shocking to us too.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Good morning...! It is still morning isn't it? Thanks for the reminder Sarv, I'm almost out of ice cream too, hope they have 2fers at the store this week. So, I can feed my cigarette and ice cream addiction at the same time! My bad. I noticed as my folks got older, their cleaning slipped badly. I often took cleaning supplies along when I went to my birth mother's, and there was plenty of opportunity to use them. We were never very close, as I was the child she gave up, but I felt there was no one else around to help her. I don't deserve praise for doing it, I hated it and wished I didn't have to do it.

DR. what a tragedy. I am so sorry about your brother. It sounds like he started a downward spiral and there was no one around to see it and help him. There are no words I can offer that can ease the pain he left behind.

Woodspirit, what a day! You really accomplished a lot. It was nice here and I did get out and put some seeds in the ground, and dug up the Rude Beckies. I have a mold I picked up at Michael's for a pawprint stepping stone. Going to make one each for Oskar and Hobbes in the back garden, and do a little more clean up there today.

ViAnn, I didn't soak the moonflowers last year and it took forever for them to sprout. I didn't nick them this year, but they should do ok. Trial and error every year I learn something new. The seeds are big, and I hope with an earlier start I will get better results.

Dmcd, great photo!! Now I'm smiling too. Thanks for sharing!

Dianne, my nap yesterday messed up my night's sleep. Went to bed at 11: and couldn't fall asleep. Got up at 12:30 and read for a couple hours, I picked up Terry McMillan's "Day Late and a Dollar Short" at the Dollar Store, and am 2/3s of the way through it. Anyone want it for postage? It's pretty explicity, but very interesting, disfunctional family type story which would make everyone feel better about their relatives. I've read all of Lisa Jackson's, always head for the mysteries or legal thrillers first. I'm way behind on reading lately. Very good idea having a password for the phone, now make sure she doesn't write it down somewhere where it can be seen.

Laurie, mucking out the stall lends new meaning to the term "s****y job! I wouldn't mind having some of those horse apples to compost for a while...once the heat destroys the seeds in it, it's great for the garden.

Joyous, your schedule makes me look like a slacker. Will you have a website for the store? You need to share it with us.

Dcat, if I make breakfast, I make a big one and skip lunch. Most days, I don't get at it until it's almost lunch time, so that takes care of both meals in one shot. Hope the visit to the chiro goes well today. And certainly glad the bad weather missed you.

Oz, you never know what goes on in someone's life, you must be very angry at that man. Do you believe the Homeland Security guy? They caught him good. I hope they lock him up for the rest of his life. What is wrong with those people? Just makes my blood boil..

Did anyone see the report on the news about the 911 call in Detroit? The operator gave the five year old boy a hard time, and never sent the police. He called a second time, and the next operator also scolded him for "playing" on the phone but a police officer finally showed up to chastise the child. His mother died. The department said that 25% of the calls from children are pranks and that's why they didn't respond! Now the family is suing.

Elaine, the geranium is just a plain old red one, I had it on the deck last summer and it was doing so well I dragged it in and pampered it through the winter. Just smells like a regular geranium, sometimes I pinch a leaf just to get the nice spicy scent. It's been dropping flower petals on the floor, and when Sammi gets to rolling around he ends up with pink streaks on his fur. Time for it to go outside again!

Kelly, busy day for you too. I use lots of mulch as our last two winters didnt give us good snow cover. Lots of things are showing green now, so I'm sure it helped. Waiting to see if the pruning I did on the climbing roses did more harm than good. I'm going to try some four o'clocks under the poison tree, and dig out some more of the missouri primrose too, as it is supposed to be tolerant. We'll see.

I might have put that clothes line a little higher. Mine always likes to sag in the middle if I hang sheets (which is about all I hang) so I hook one end onto a tree, and the other on the deck railing which is about 9 feet off the ground. I have to sling something over the line to bring it down where I can reach it, but that's easy enough. DH made me a prop, which just falls off and does no good at all! Hope Bill gets that phone call today.

Now Susan has given me clematis envy. I've killed three since we've been here. Regret not digging up the huge Jackamani I had at our previous house. Though, that might have killed that one too. I have a clematis black thumb. . . . wish it worked on crab grass....

OK, gonna copy, and then try to post this, and get my rear in gear. ~~~ to all, have a sunny day, and go play in the dirt!!

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

Dearest Carol,
I'm so sorry for the heartache that you and your family are feeling at this time. To lose a family member in this way adds shock to the grief.

There is no way for you to understand what drove him to choose this solution, but for whatever reasons his life took such a difficult turn and downward spiral, he has escaped them and now is at peace.

Prayers for your family through this difficult time. Prayers for your father that he will be given strength to bear this added burden in addition to his illness.

With love,
Pati

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good morning,

OK. I pledge to catch up! Been out to Aquafit and had coffee afterwards. Went out earlier and took my car to the Canadian Tire store down the road from the pool. Back of car was filled with summer tires on rims. Normally DH will change them, but he's not allowed to lift much; so a neighbour helped me get them in the car and off I went to get the wheels changed. Ten minute walk to the pool and I bummed a ride home as the car won't be ready till this afternoon sometime.

Now, where was I yesterday when I got interrupted. (I think DH is jealous of DG).

I was up to Molly's photo. That's quite a dog!

Mary, hope you had a good trip to Boise.

Darius, I like secondary roads too, but on a long trip, I'll take some of each. When I drive down to Rochester or anywhere elase central New York State, I no longer cross the border at the 1000 Island. Last time we did, we were waiting at the bridge for 45 minutes and the only reason I could see was to control traffic at US customs. If we cross at Prescott, straight south of Ottawa, there is usually 1 car or less ahead of you in the queue. And the secondary roads cut a diagonal over to I81 which cuts the distance as well. Plus those secondary roads are fun to drive with very little traffic.

Maria, glad you had a nice visit with your daughter.

Sheila, hope that mini food processor arrives.

Sarv, the cold breezes generally don't blow west! LOL Don't blame me. In fact, we often get YOUR weather a day or two later.

To all of you moaning about gas prices, I still say you've got it cheap. It's running a bit over $1 a litre here and with the Cdn $ up around 86 cents, that's well over $3 a gallon US.

Kelly, glad you had the lost post copied too. (It's probably time for me to copy this one). LOL
Has Bill heard anything about the job?

DMC, you DO look happy with the horse. I see you have a western saddle. I had a friend in high school who had horses and we used to ride a bit. My daughter has owned several horses, but all the riding up this way is English style.

Hi Dianne, any blueberry grunt left? Bet I have to get there early for that. More about the birthday later.

Lauri, take care. Your post didn't go "poof". Maybe you won't need the heating pad too much longer. Have you tried a massage therapist? I swear by them.

Joy, where does your son fly from? Hope he has a good trip.

Bonnie, ALL my seeds will be stuck indoors for another several weeks before I dare to put them out. Then I'll put them out on the patio behind my kitchen where I can easily put them in the porch overnight if necessary. It has shady areas where I can harden them before putting them in the sun.

Kelly, I probably don't know how to slow down, but there are so many things I put on hold last year when I didn't have a co-worker at the Food Cupboard, that it will take awhile to catch up. And I actually timed my retirement to be able to help with the organization of the Viola Congress. Initially, I thought I would be handling all the registrations again, but with a language barrier (the U de Montréal is a FRENCH language university) and all, in the end it worked out easiest to have the registration handled in Montréal. Whew!

Molly, quite industrious - cleaning the oven. Hope you have good gardening.

Lauri, let us know how Salsa is doing and yourself too.

Sarv, hope you get your cleaning done in time.

Maria, I'm ready for a cookie. Are they done yet? Enjoy your GGD. Aren't 4 yr olds fun?

Bonnie, hope the chiro appt. went OK - not like last week. Happy shopping.

dmc - you're right, these are the violas you play rather than the ones you plant. Violists get together somewhere in the world every year. Last year it was Iceland. Next year, Australia. As one friend sais, "Play the viola, see the world!"
http://www.violacongress2006.ca/

(I just found a bunch of replies out or order in the middle of this post. When I copied it, I must have started again in the middle instead of the bottom. I think I got it sorted out, but if it doesn't make sense, that's why).

Elaine, hope you beat the monster.

(((((Carol))))) What awful news. I'm so sorry. suicide may be an out for the person to commits it, but so AWFUL for those left behind.

Sheila and Susan, I'll keep soaking the moonflower seeds. They do seem softer this am than yesterday.

Well, we took the bikes over on Saturday. I'll look over my pics later. DH took some too, but hasn't downloaded them onto the computer. We went back yesterday, but didn't go along when they went to the teddy bear factory. Each kid got a cute bear. Amy's, predictably is a ballerina and Nolan's is a hockey player. Light dinner was DSIL's brothers and partners came over with MORE toys. The birthday toys won't last long. Too many little bits. Would drive me NUTS if I had them around my house. some plastic doll with plastic magnetic clothing and pirates and hundresd of little bits!

I'm gonna finish this off and go color my hair. Haven't done that in about 3 months and was thinking of letting it grow out, but I'm not ready for all gray!

Am going to play piano quartets next weekend and the pianist dropped some music off yesterday; so I should have a look at it. Brahms and Schumann aren't always easy to sight read. And I'll have to get back to pick up my car sometime this afternoon. Finally, we have a third meeting of the committee to spend the money this evening at church. I have a bit of homework to do for that.

Carol, My Thoughts and Prayers are with you and your family... Lauri

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning.

Carol, what an awful thing to have to face at this difficult time. Your brother obviously had some very serious problems and it is sad that he didn't get help for them. I feel so badly for you and your family and will be praying for all of you. There just isn't much one can say. ((((((Carol and family))))))

We have sun and clouds today, chance of showers of rain or snow 50% and a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon. There was a little rain overnight but probably just quick showers.

Lauri, I hope your horse is comfortable, and that he will recover enough for you to ride him. Maybe his former owner just didn't want to deal with an aging horse that would require special care and have vet bills. That seems to happen a lot and it is good that you took him so he will get the TLC he deserves.

Dmc, I enjoyed the picture of your horse in the swiming hole with the kids. We had one that would walk out into knee deep water and paw to splash it up on to her belly on hot days, but she never did lay down in it. If we happened to be riding her at the time we got a shower! She would lay down with the saddle on in a patch of sand and then it was a scramble to get her on her feet before she rolled on the saddle.

Molly, I hope your itchy dog is more comfortable soon. Will Lexi get a bath with flea soap? Fleas drown easily and we used to just throw sticks into the bay for our dogs and the salt water did a pretty good job on them. Here in the dry west we have very little problem with fleas, but see them on the cats sometimes when they catch mice, gophers and other furry critters and some hop to the cat. Do you use flea collars? When we got our AmandaPanda kitty she had a load of fleas, and I was hand picking fleas off her as I saw them and drowning them in the bathroom sink, but could only see the ones that had crawled into white hair. Two days later I got her to the vet, he gave her a liquid systemic wormer and we never saw any more of them.

Yesterday we left here about 7am and went to Boise, (150 miles). We took about an hour wandering in Home Depot and then a while in Walmart. I bought some plants, those in plastic bags with peat moss, so I will try to get them planted today. The new ones are a pink phlox with darker pink center called Bright Eyes, a red hot poker, a white echinacea, some Crocosmia that are bright red, rudbeckia that could be any one of several colors shown on the package, and an iris called Fall Fiesta that has pale yellow standards and bronze falls. The roots are pretty small so I hope I get to see that one bloom this year. I finally found some potting medium for my few orchids, and bought some fertilizer for them too. That's powerful stuff compared to the liquid I use on everything else, so will mix it in small batches and keep it separate. Lots to do today with the plants. After HD and Walmart we went to Penneys to get some clothes for my hubby's work, then went to a nice seafood restaurant and had lunch. We were home by about 5pm.

Another item in the daily plan is to ride Patch again after it warms up a little. We started with 37 degrees this morning so it could be a while.

Oz, I'm glad that guy was caught. We probably have many more of those around than we know about. There was a case here about a year ago of a manager at a fast food place that was molesting one of his teenage workers. When the kid turned 18 he tried to end the relationship and the manager attempted to blackmail him with pictures a friend had taken secretly. He is now doing hard time in the Graybar Hotel. Another guy was caught when he took a computer to be fixed, and the repairman found porn pictures of his neighbor kids on the computer. The repairman took the computer directly to the sheriff's office and said "look what I found". That's just 2 cases in the past 2 or 3 years in a county that has about 18,000 residents.

Time to get moving, see you later. ~~~ to those I missed.

((Carol)) It isn't always that easy to spot, so that kind of death certainly takes the wind out. But, even if someone had noticed the signs, it couldn't be stopped. If someone has decided to "end it all" the only thing that can be done is *maybe* delay it for awhile. He had it in his head, and that was that. His timing made it more difficult for your family, but please don't think you could have saved him. YOU COULDN"T!!!! Right now the best thing you can do is keep your own life on track and be with your family as much as you can - and that includes your plant family!, as that can be your light at the end of this tunnel. Hang on, and know that your "DG family" loves you and cares about how you are doing.

Clematis envy - what's that? This is the best that this vine has done. It gets better every year. My other vine is growing nicely but not showing buds yet. I am hoping that it will come in strong later as it is a different type. I don't know what they are since the tags are long gone, and I don't really care about the names - just the beautiful blooms!!

I am not good at responding to all of you, but I do so enjoy your posts. Please don't think that I don't care, because I really do! You are all important and the daily contact means so much to me.

love to all, and wishing you all a wonderful and blessed day,
ginni

{{{{{ Carol }}}}} So sorry for the additional tragedy.

Need to go out and get a Cat5 cable to get online now that I have found my network box and hooked up my own computer and my sister's computer to network. (We installed my old Cat5 cables underneath Molly's trailer so we could network all 3 computers there.)

The mess Molly is cleaning in the oven is a mess I left when Mac & Cheese boiled over. So sorry Molly. :(

Hope to be up and runing my own computer tomorrow!

Hi All,

Have a Ton of stuff I want to get done today so I'm going to make this short.

Wow, popped in a bit ago and there were18 posts,,,now already up to 27,,,busy, busy in coffee today. Have to admit to just taking time to skim every ones posts,,,didn't have time read everything.

Bill started his job this morning around 9:30,,,Yipeeeeee,,Wooohooooo, Hallelujah,,,now I won't be in a little white padded room, nor will I be in a little cement room with bars.

I'm supposed to go in for my annual physical tomorrow so I took a couple customers this morning,,,just got done with them and kinda decided I'm calling in sick for tomorrow. My legs are way too bad from the stress during the last couple months, I don't even want my NP to see them,,,so will call and make it for a couple weeks from now and on a Monday. This way I will be able to work tomorrow, as Bill won't get a paycheck for 2 weeks now.

Well, back to leaf blowing,,,,arms don't hurt like I thought they would today. Laundry monster, bank, P.O., nails and sprucing up the house. Oh, and calling in sick for tomorrow.

Will try to bbl,
Kelly

Thanks guys.
I feel bad that I have touch some nerves like with Maria. Sorry.
Ginni, love your clematis pic and what you wrote. Yes, I do wonder if we could have at least delayed it until we told him about my dad and then maybe he would have something/body to live for?
Ann, you are so right. Bad enough on what he did but the mess he has left behind is unreal. No note, no will, etc. My poor dad is trying to deal with it since he is next to kin and I have offered to help but.... he wants to just hire a lawyer and let them deal with it.

I do want to say, Molly, love the new pup you have there. He should keep all nasty animals and people away from your place, LOL

LIFE IS PRECIOUS!

I typed a long message, then could not get it posted. Called my ISP tech support, have done some resettings, and hopefully make the connection faster. The long and short of it, I lost the post, I lost my temper, I ranted at my ISP, and don't feel like trying to recreate the post. I will be back to comment later.

DR ((hugs))) to you.!!

Bonnie, it may not have been your ISP. I think DG is having problems. It just took me THREE tries to post to a thread on the Hosta forum.

Have been having problems here too.

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Yum Maria, thanks! you're the best!! I just came in from planting peas, and my back is sore already. I turned all the soil in the pea patch by hand, not worth dragging the tiller out yet...
So coffee and a cookie (mind if I take two???) will hit the spot!

Ann-We have a new Equine Forum at DG as of a couple days ago, I posted my whole herd over there. We mostly ride English, and English for jumping, but as I was posting I was getting such a kick out of how much we do with the horses, English, Western, trail, sleighing, carriage driving, ski-joring....I just stuck a Western saddle on the baby to see how she'd like it, and that was the littlest saddle there! Of course I know you play viola, it'sjust because of spring fever that I thought of the other violas! Are you going to any of the foreign get-togethers? They sound like fun. Here's the array of horses and equipment:

Carol-You are so right, life is precious, and we need to remember that. And you need to remember we're all here with you, praying for you, thinking of you and pulling for you and for your family....
