=^..^=
Today would have been my Father's 99th birthday. But he has been gone 16 years. Does not seem possible. Sure miss my Daddy.
Coffee and...For Thursday, April 6, 2006 =^..^=
I bet you do, Susan, my children miss their Daddy too, a lot, he has been gone now for 18 months, time does go by fast.
I guess I am a night owl tonight but am the first one to say 'Good Morning' every one
I went to bed at 11:45, slept a little, and back up. I have to wait about an hour before I can take another pain pill. I really do think that the chiro did something, as I was hurting before I went, but not like this.
Aww, much love to you Susan. My daddy is still on earth, but we don't get to talk much. I don't think he likes me.
eweed, what perfectly wonderful seedlings you have there!
defoe, sometimes chiros make it feel much worse before it gets to feeling better. Healing thoughts going your way.
Maria, hi
mich
Hi All,
Woke up about 4:30,,,couldn't get back to sleep, so here I am,,,,grrrrr.
Hopefully some good news today. Bill's boss is supposed to be calling him to ask him to go back to work at the Cold Storage. Wish they needed him today. It's really different when he's home ALL the time,,,,I'm used to him being gone all day. Like it better when he's gone all day,,,LOL
Last night, I got done in the Salon, sat down at the computer to check on a couple of things, and he says, "Hey, Bill Gates, whats for dinner?",,,well, let me tell you,,,,I REALLY had to bite my tongue. I Hate to argue over something like that. I just told him, "Whatever you want to make, you're the one that's been bored all day". I like to choose my battles to win the war,,,LOL I'm pretty sure I won that one!
Wanting to get the Greenhouse up this weekend, but Bill says we need to be able to heat it. The 2 floodlights just didn't do it last time. The only thing we have is a torpedo heater and that would cook the poor little seedlings,,,it's too big for the Greenhouse. So, I don't know what I'm going to come up with. Maybe I'll put the charcoal grill in there and keep adding coals.
Susan,
My thoughts will be with you today. My Papa (Grandpa) has been gone going on 16 years,,,I still miss him too. DO THOSE DARNED EXCERSISES! You didn't go through all that surgery and pain to backslide and have it not heal the correct way.
eweed,
Your pics are wonderful. So nice to see all those little plants. Can't wait to see them in a month.
Elaine,
I haven't been able to keep up,,,how are your maters doing? Any flowers yet,,,,LOL
dcat,
I sure hope you get some relief soon. Painful and frustrating,,,grrrrrr
Since I haven't been able to keep up for a bit I'll just say hi to all and will try to keep up a bit more. Althought that may be hard,,,Marie and I are Trying to organize a hosta co-op. Should be interesting,,,give my mind something to focus on anyway.
Kelly
Good morning all,
eweed - what wonderful seedlings. More zone envy here. It'll be awhile before I could leave any outside, though they say it will be +3 tonight (that's Celsius).
Bonnie, I think something's wrong if you hurt that badly. But I do not bellieve in chiros. Have you seen a Dr.?
Kelly, you could look on the trials of having Bill home as practice for retirement. Hope he gets that call soon.
Have a good day everyone.
Ann
Good (hurting) morning!! I can barely walk today....went to the Y with DIL. It is new and it is an awesome place - three floors for exercise stuff, pools, etc. and packed with people. We walked/ran for 2 miles (I walked!) then went to the 'ball' class. Well, I was the oldest one there, but not the most out of shape. Let me tell you it was the hardest thing I have ever done.
My face was beet red, my shirt soaked and hair dripping. I couldn't wait until it was over and will NEVER return!! Of course I somehow ended up in the front row directly in front of the instructor (my fav place is in the back row - corner!!) After it was over, I could barely walk down the stairs to get in the car. My whole body was screaming....
Well, time to get cleaned up for the huff/p today - no rest for the wicked (or fatties!)
Defoe - hope you are feeling better. I always felt relief when I went to the chiro - not more pain... maybe he thumped when he should have whacked.. Whatever happened, I think you should give him a call. Life's too short to be in so much pain!!
Ernie - those plants are to die for. I am so envious... I have 4 flats started and I feel flush with plants. I always wish I had started more- especially the wave petunias.. Oh well, there's always next year. I'm curious to see if the price of a flat has gone up with the increased cost in heating fuel. Last year I drove miles to my fav greenhouse- they sell flats for $5.99- everyone else was 8.99 or higher.
GG-have Bill get the greenhouse up today and get a little ceramic heater -that will be enough (unless it is a big one!) I know the feeling of having a male 'underfoot' - thank goodness we have a big barn and DH can lose himself in it...
Ernie, how do you to all that and go to work every Day?
Guess some of us are real night owls, not fair some of you guys out accross the country are really not, are they? Did you built that bird house? I would not be surprised if you did.
Defoe so sorry about you pain, the chiro said to me it will hurt more then before but it will get better after, it was true as far as the sciatica went.
Ann, it is -1 Celsius here right now but at least the sun is shining and I now she will warm us up a bit later
Ann,
Oh Lord Help me,,,LOL I hope it doesn't come to that,,,one of us would end up in jail I'm afraid.
sarv,
Whoa,,,what a workout,,,,you poor thing you,,,I can feel my muscles hurting just reading about it,,,,,you're gonna feel better once all those muscles start moving again. Just keep repeating that in your head,,,maybe it will work,,,LOL I'll have to talk to Bill about that type of heater, the Greenhouse is only 8'x8'.
Maria,
Good Morning,,,bet Samson is already wanting to play outside. Hope you're both well.
Better go get ready for work. See you later.
Kelly
Good morning! After all my running around yesterday, I fell into bed at 10:15 and slept like dead until Sammi woke me up for a cuddle at 4:, and then I went right back to sleep until about 20 minutes ago. Hardly ever sleep that long. Maybe my chronological clock is set to DST all the time? DH said Sammi woke him later on by chewing on his moustache. I said he was probably looking for food.
Saw myself in the bathroom mirror and thought, "That girl doesn't know when to stop cutting!" Looks like it will be nice out today, so I can get the Preen down which I didn't get done yesterday. Need to visit a few of the county golf courses and post a note inviting new members for our league. Some of our gals have had health problems and we need to fill their spots. Most are in their 60s and above, one is 80, so this will be a continuing problem.
Dcat I hope you are feeling better this morning, or you get some attention for the pain, I don't think an adjustment should make you hurt more than you did before. Don't fool around waiting for it to go away, somethings awry and you need to find out what's going on.
Welcome BillyPorter, did you come in before and I missed it? Grab a cuppa and sit down and tell us something about yourself. First saw you on "Just s" and glad to see you here. There's leftover peach cobbler on the counter, so help yourself.
Ernie those plants are a welcome sight, gives us hope! Nice to get such an early start. Bal was talking about the mud drying up so he could get out in the yard and start doing things too. Me too, except we haven't had enough snow or rain to create mud.
GG you're not giving me much to look forward to when DH retires!! He won't sit around being bored though, it will be a chore to get him out of his "playroom" as he has plenty to work on with the cars he's been slowly restoring. Which will result in him selling at least one or two, I hope. Your suggestion to Bill about making dinner was more discreetly worded than mine would have been! I don't expect DH will ever cook a meal.
ViAnn, how did your committee meeting go? If the committe makes recommendations, will they be approved or does the church have other members who will make a final decision? Hopefully, it went smoothly and everyone was able to make agreeable suggestions.
Are those stargazer lilies, tgif? They are beautiful. I should get some good blooms this year on mine. The first year they did nothing, but the next two they were loaded. I'm thinking of moving it, but not until after the flowers are gone. It's behind another large perennial and it needs to have more room. Be a good time to dig out the Rudbeckia and move them, too, they have gotten way too big for their britches. Maybe they can survive the black walnut curse. Have some Hosta to divide later when I see more than little nubs.
Lots and lots of tulips popping up now, saw some behind the house next to the ugly septic cover that I forgot I had planted there!! I threw a lot of snapdragon pods there last fall so I hope I see them coming up too. They've self seeded nicely in front, and I hope they will do it there too. That area has to be dug up every two years for access to the septic so it can be pumped, so nothing permanent can go there.
Here's my latest cheap to the bone tactic...remember those fake rocks that they want huge amounts of money for? I found an old black 50 gallon garbage can, and the top is about the same circumferance as the top of the septic tank. I'm going to start some charcoal in the Weber, and when it gets hot, put the plastic can over the heat, and when it starts to soften, push in several places to make it look like a big rock....STOP LAUGHING!! and then let it cool. If it doesn't work, all it's cost me is some charcoal. Provided I can get it off the Weber before it melts all over it. If it works, I'll take a pic! If it doesn't ....I might take one anyway and you can all have a good laugh.
Oh crap, DH left me about a quarter inch of coffee in the pot, so I have to get out the french press because I need more coffee!! And I need to get busy with some other nagging chores, too. Back later if the day doesn't run out before the chores do, ~~~~ at Elaine, Sarv, McCool, Susan ( did you go nuts at Wally World??) and everyone...
Later....
Sheila
M5-I can see it now - plastic melted all over your grill and then you need to buy a new grill (now don't make me say 'I told you so!)
I'm still hobbling around like I am a 90 yr old! No energy - plus it is gloomy outside. Saying snow this weekend...I'm not a drinker, but may have to start....
off to more torture....
Spring has arrived in the state of Washington, am so envious, Ernie!
Oh I forgot there is left over upside down apple cake from last night, have some
M5, how could he do that? Leaving you no coffee .
Sarv, you over did it, that is not a good idea
GG, Samson says hello and has been playing, I am wondering why he limps after he gets up for two or three steps but then is ok, he runs like anything, wonder if he pulled a muscle
Good morning
My goodness it's stpring here at coffee! So many flowers! Thanks Ernie. Good to see you this morning.
Oh Maria, maybe Samson needs to go to the chiro with Defoe? Now wouldn't that give him cause to paws ... hehehe
Meezers, I'm a bit late ... but here just made coffee. Please tell us more about that project. I really need to see *that* one in steps. LOL
Kelly, I'm not sure what in the world I'll do with mine when he retires. Now that we're driving ... we can't seem to stay home! LOL Seems we're both guilty. Can always think of an errand. When he asks ... "hey what's for supper?" ... I just smile and say "I can't cook in the truck!" We don't have a bit of a problem!
Well, my tomatoes are doing good so far. The only thing was ... I read up where you were suppose to pick off the first blooms so as not to stress the plants after transplanting. Soooo, I told the DH to do this for me. Come to find out ... he was *still* doing it! LOL LOL grrrr I told him *enough* already. They can't put on maters if they don't have any blooms! I have bueeeatiful plants, though! *smile* Speaking of which ... bettter get off my duff and go water.
~~~ Elaine
Elaine, LOL. No wonder no tomatoes.
Sarv, I bet the instructor was a skinny young thing. I find they are the worst. They have NO CONCEPT of what a 50 (or older) yr old body feels like. The best ones are the ones that constantly remind you to listen to your body qwhen you are in exercise class and if something hurts, DON'T DO IT! And if you get in a class with someone who is pushing you too much, you have to stop doing it or do something else for awhile. I find the aquafit instructors vary a lot and sometimes I just do my own thing.
Maria, thanks for the upside down apple cake. Good its a cyber treat. I think Weight Watchers is working, but I know I can't rely on what the scales say 2 days into it.Actually it's not Weight Watchers that is working - it's paying the D#@$ money. If I shelled out, you can be sure that I'm gonna write down evrything that passes between these 2 lips and count up the points.
Sheila - some on the committee want to go fast and spend, I think. Co chair and I think it should be a slower process. We will review the suggestions before the next meeting. I'm sure a lot of the money will be directed towards improvements to the building itself. The church started by building a two story hall which is now 40+ years old. The sanctuary was added in the mid 80's. the original building is not well insulated - costing about $2800 Cdn.mo to heat in the winter. And if improvements are made to the insulation, there are a lot of other improvements that need to be made - sound deadening in the big room, improvements to the kitchen - the list goes on. They need to talk seriously with an architect about what is needed. My sense is that nobody expects this money to all go to that project, but I think between 1/3 and 1/2 likely will and will kick start campaigns to raise enough to do what else is needed. But we feel that consultations with the congregation are important. Anyway, we meet again on Monday. Then not again until sometime in May.
Ann
This is the third time I got wped out by DG trying to answer threads, I give up
Hi everyone= I'm at my DIL house (the one I exercised with last night) Anyhow, went to H/p, but didn't expend too much energy - just had fun telling them what I did at the Y. Stopped for a cappiccino at my fav gas station and the clerk said she was just gonna raise the prices by 16cents, so if I wanted to fill up, she would wait. Well, I went to fill up and , holy smoke, no credit cards!! I had take the pouch with me last night and stuck it in DIL glove box. So I had to come over here to get it. Then I mentioned that I needed to go to the meat locker and she wanted to go, but first had to shower....soooo I am waiting for her!!
VI- the gal last night was a young (skinny) thing...she also teaches a 'senior citizens' class on the same thing. I would like to go back and take that one now! I am still in major muscle pain...but it will pass. Guess I need to soak in a hot tub - maybe tonight! I'd vote on insulation- heating bills are only going to get worse!
I thought today was Friday!!! How funny, now I have nothing planned for Fri - no working out as partner is going out east for a wedding shower. A free day for me!
Vi (again!) good luck at WW. I've joined several times in my lifetime and it does work if you follow it. Somehow my age seems to block most of my weight endeavours...this morning I was the heaviest I have ever been in my lifetime- think I'm retaining fluid in them old muscles!! LOL
Time to go for now!
Well, my started off with a bang. litterally! On my way to work, I was part of a 5 car chain reaction rear ending. I'm fine, car is fine. Thank goodness I have a big car with a trailer hitch. The only damage to the car that hit me was from the hitch. Some goofball slamed into the 4th car behind me, pushed her into the next car and so on. Luckily no one else was seriously hurt either. One woman was taken by ambulance. What a way to start the day.
The snow yesterday didn't amount to anything. Went into a meeting and it was snowing like crazy and everything was white. 2 hours later when I came out, sun was shining and snow was gone.
Defoe - Hope you get to the Dr. today and start feeling better. I am sure your mystery plant is a weed. When I walked by the barn this morning, I saw what looked like the same thing comming up along the side.
Kelly - I don't know what I would do if DH and I were home together all the time. We take a week off together around christmas and thats one time I really am glad to go back to work. LOL. We need to put a new roof on part of the barn. It's not a job that anyone wants to tackle. It's a very steep roof.
Sarv - hope the aches and pains go away soon. Actually, going to the huff-N-puff today will probably help those muscles.
Ernie - Nice babies!
Elaine - LOL at DH pinching off all the blossoms.
M5- you must send pictures of your "rock". Actually sounds like a neat idea. Cover the grill with foil or something to protect it from melting plastic.
Maria - Hope sampson's leg is better soon. He probably just pulled something with all his playing.
~~~~~to everyone I missed.
Hi Everyone, dark and wintry here :-(
Ernie-your plants are a very welcome sight!! Your yard looks beautiful, please all you folks with flowers, keep the pictures coming!! It is so gray here it's unbelievable!
Ann-I hope the committee doesn't go too fast. I think we got off easy this winter with the cold, next year we may not and oil prices might be much higher. I think insulation should be everyone's first investment at this point! Just my not so humble opinion. Good luck with the negotiations!
Elaine-Glad you realized DH was still pruning before tomato season was over! LOL
m5-I could make you a rock....Take some wire fencing and make an odd shape, then cover it with hypertufa or even the fiberglass sheeting you can get at Homne Depot for repairing boats, etc., then paint it. I've made tons of papier mache boulders for various scenery projects. It would be fun! The garbage can bottom sounds like a fun experiment, it may go up in flames and become a volcano!!!
sarv-"no pain no gain",,,but wait, we don't want to gain...we want to lose. Whoever said those skinny teenage type instructors don't understand 50 something year old bodies is right. I don't think I could do those ball exercises.
GG-Good to see you, I wish you the BEST in getting Bill out of the house and back to the "real world". My DH works from home (computer stuff) but he is a workaholic. If the house were on fire he wouldn't interrupt a client and ask to call back after he evacuated. No fear of retirement here. But if he were just around I'd go bananas.
Maria-I hope it's just a pulled muscle for Samson, he probably overdid it too.
defoecat-I hope you are feeling better, that sounds terrible. I wonder what happened in the chiro? Will you call the dr?
McCool and suzieq-sincerest wishes for you snow to melt and sun to shine, grass to green and flowers to bloom!!
Susan- I hope you do okay at PT and aren't in pain again
To anyone I might have missed ~~waving~~ see you later!!
suzieq-Glad to hear my wish for you came true, at least the snow gone and sun out!! LOL
Sorry to hear about the car crash, glad it wasnt' worse, probably someone just daydreaming? Or talking on the phone and putting on makeup?
Ok, good morning. This is gonna be short and sweet. The upshot, I was up every hours last night, with arms hurting. Take a pain pill, rest about an hour again. So am "hung over" from that. Called the chiro, and went in. He gave me therapy and an adjustment, and told me to come home (to bed) with ice packs. So After doing a couple things, that is where I am headed.
Thanks everybody for the thoughts.
I will be back later.
Y'all I've just discovered something. I'm so sheltered! Right there with the spaghetti sauce and never saw it before ... vodka pasta sauce. Mmmmm! I make my own spaghetti sauce, so I guess that's why I've never seen it before.
Sarv ... you and Ann make me soooo tired with your exercising. I use to be so good before DG. Now I spend way too much time on this computer. I'm eating lunch at it now! :) So glad you remembered where your cards were!
Suzie~ whew, that was toooo close for comfort, girl! Glad you weren't hurt.
DMC you *always* have the neatest ideas. You and Meezers make me LOL ... I'd never figured out how to make a rock! Sounds like a great idea. With your art skills no one would be the wiser.
Maria, I haven't had trouble with DG today ... but sure did yesterday! I've just *got* to learn to copy everything just in case it goes poof. Oh thanks for the dessert!
Well, lunch is gone ... so I'd better sign off!
... ~~Elaine
Good morning. Windy and just above freezing here, brrr. I ventured out to feed the horses and wire the greenhouse exhaust vent closed so it doesn't flap in the wind and let the heat escape. About 2 weeks ago I removed the insulation panels from the vents so that the automatic vent system could work because we were having bright sunny days with greenhouse temps in the 90's.
Kelly, my answer to that what's for dinner question might have been, "it depends on where you take us". That works too.
Beautiful flats of plants, Ernie. I haven't started any seeds yet, but it won't be long. I like the birdtell, how many birds occupy it? And what kind? Your back yard is looking good and it gives me hope. Mine is still messy with mulch, twigs, and my "lawn" growing at different rates according to whatever kind of grass and weeds are in a given place, and doesn't look good at all. My grass is just starting to look green. When we moved here, things were mostly dead. I watered whatever was here and that is still what I have for "lawn", mostly quackgrass I think. I dug out the thistles and some of the dandylions (can't keep up with them).
Dcat, I hope you will call the chiro and tell him how you are feeling, see if this is normal for the adjustment you got. My chiro told me that patients muscles respond in 3 ways, some have mild discomfort, some quite a lot of discomfort, and others feel like they have been run over by a truck.This morning I woke up about 2am when I turned over and heard/felt something in my spine go pop. I lay there for a while and couldn't get back to sleep, then turned over again and pop, pop, pop again! I hope I am not back to square one.
Meezer, I think you will have a mess heating the plastic that way, however, if you get the grill hot and can put the plastic can really close to it, that should soften it up enough to make it sag, turn it, and do another area. Just don't leave it unattended. A different alternative would be one of those propane torches to heat a small area at a time. Let us know how it goes, we're always up for a good laugh.
Yesterday when I watered inside the greenhouse I noticed that my red epiphylum is budding. I got it in a trade last year and can hardly wait to see it!
The sun just came out but I can still hear the wind. Back later, got to poke around in the freezer and see what's for dinner.
Edited to say that I had disconnected and not read several posts above mine before I posted, so will catch up later.

I have listed my left over seeds on the seed trading forum if any of you want to take a look.
This is just a drop in the bucket, but there are some I still want to try out but will probably have left overs.

defoe - chiro did NOT say go do "a couple of things" and then... Chiro said GO HOME!! The thing about adjustments is that you have to allow time for them to "set in" before they will hold. If you get carried away right after an adjustment you just undo all the good. The only thing you should do is grab that ice pack and then kick back and let all the body parts get used to the new settings.
OK - a positive note for all who are still dealing with cold and snow. While you are antsy to get out and do garden things and I am out gardening things - *I'm* the one being eaten up by skeeters!!!!!
BUT! - I really and truly saw at least 5 fireflies last night!!! The last biggie for spring will be hearing the first Whippoorwill of the year. That should happen very soon. Actually, what we have here is their double first cousin the Chuck Will's Widow. Their calls are so similar that it is easy to confuse them. DH thinks he saw one this morning, but we haven't heard them yet. When they get going there will be several that seem to circle the cabin and call so loud that you almost can't carry on a conversation. So, rather than talk, DH and I just sit and listen.
meezer - the picture I posted was an Azalea. However, there *are* some Stargazers there and I have said every year that I'm going to move them, but I just love seeing them when I'm here at the computer or at the dining table, so there they will probably stay. I posted a pic of them some time last year on the ID forum to make sure I knew just what they were. I'll try to get more pics this year when they bloom.
The woods are dappled with white! Everywhere you look along the driveway the dogwoods are doing their thing! The wisteria has just about finished, but the azaleas and Irises are still holding forth. Soon there will be Queen Anne's Lace and Black-eyed Susans to keep the butterflies (and me) happy.
Off again to dig and plant - ((hugs)) to all
ginni
They're coming to take me away oh my,,,,they're coming to take me away uh huh, they're coming to take me away,,,,,,I don't know if it's gonna be to the little white padded room or a little cement cell with bars on it.
Oh Kelly, the barricade of DG family between you and "them" cannot be broken! You are safe from them. Safe from the loose canon (Bill) may be another story, but we will do our best!
Hang in there Kelly......you can do it. If things get too weird at home you can aways run over to your Gran's on urgent business. Anything to get a fresh perspective.
Marie
Well, the ice packs & rest has helped. I am up, and heading for the shower, have to take DM to her monthly church meeting and supper.
Seems like everybody has been busy today. It is a really ugly day here. It is raining, grey and gloomy. I don't think that ducks would like this day.
DH is working on getting his oldest brother's taxes ready to file. Can you spell GONNA BE LATE FILING? He does this every year. His method of filing anything, is to stick it in a drawer durning the year, and then he pulls that drawer (china cabinet) out and brings it DH to sort through and get all pertinent documents together. DH hasn't asked me to help, but I have gotten some pretty pleading looks. Unuh, not gonna do that. I don't know that if I was a paid tax accountant, I would even go through that mess for any kind of money!!
Well, gotta bamboose, will check in when I am back from church. Will tell you all about the pot luck menu. Sometimes they are pretty weird.
sarv, an exercise program should never start like that. You should go very lightly and briefly at first for about a week and then start adding on more time and stretch. Don't give up, just back off until you are comfortable. Getting really sore is the main cause for people quitting exercise programs.
I checked out places to buy Week's roses and found one about 45 miles away. I called them a few days ago to find out if they would have the climber, Don Juan. They said yes. I called them again today to make sure their shipment had come in which it had so I drove all the way over there. Alas, the Don Juan was a Jackson & Perkins. I really wanted a rooted rose, not a grafted rose. I was sooo-o-o-o-o mad. Well, I got a discount and picked out the best biggest rose they had. I was the first customer for that shipment.
I hope it does as well as my S-i-ls, which I gave her 3 years ago.
Hi everyone. First time around Shelia. DH is thinking of retiring next year. I've been ''Master of my Domain'' for so long now, especially since he went to straight nights, that it will be difficult to adjust. On the other hand, getting out the topless CJ7 and riding the countryside sound good to me. I'm looking forward to your rock! LOL. You may have started a trend!
Maria, same problem. I shut down completely and came back in.
Meezer, you may end up with the largest psuedo marshmallow LOL.
GardenGeek, I love that song!
Aaawww Defoe, there's a certain beauty to grey gloomy days. They have their purpose. Feel better soon!

If the wind would die down I could go light up the Weber, but it will have to be another day. Predictions of rain and worse for the next couple of days. I won't just put the can over the weber and walk away, I was thinking more along the lines of tilting one side of it over the heat until it got flexible and then working my way around it. I like the hypertufa/fiberglass suggestions, but I'll try the free method first!
Finished up chores, and almost fell asleep on the sofa watching something I recorded...this time switch really has my clock mixed up. DH went to bed at 9:30 last night, (even though it was 8:30 standard time,) he couldn't keep his eyes open. Takes us longer every year to get readjusted.
Spare ribs and baked potato for dinner. Maybe some of the yellow and white sweet corn I froze last fall. We have a lot of it so I might as well start using it up.
DH hasn't finished our taxes yet either, he was trying to see if it would be advantageous to file using his business for deduction, then he though he'd wait until he retired which will reduce our gross income, then he dithered around until I think he's just sick of them! Not my problem, I read the paperwork, verify he's included everything, and sign off. We try hard not to get money back. Rather have it in our pocket today than have Uncle Sam keep it all year.
Dcat, hope you feel much much better. Hugs and greeting to all, I'm all out of thoughts for the moment.
Any ideas what I can do with this kimono one of DH's bosses brought back from Japan for us some years ago? The fabric is heavy silk. Been sitting in a drawer all this time. I don't feel up to doing anything with it but maybe someone has an idea other than hanging it up as wall decor.
Sheila
Okay, I need a place to vent. DH has enough problems with his employees at work and doesn't want any more problems when he comes home. So, here's the story. Our church has a rummage sale and they've had it for 59 years. But the 2 women in charge have really taken over the whole thing and have declared themselves "LEADERS FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES". Well, I'm the publicity person and I went into town on Monday to put the ads in the paper. I live in a neighboring town and don't get the paper or the advertising paper but I've done this for a couple of years and didn't think much of it. Well, I got the the church this morning to get things set up for the sale and one of the co-chairs really laid into me because the ad had not been in the "Advertiser". I said I'd put it in on Monday and I'd call and see what the problem was. The ad hadn't been put in for this week as they had changed the deadline date from Monday at noon to Friday afternoon. I don't get the paper so I didn't know this
Well, to make a long story short, I paid $19.50 for an ad that will be put in a week later than it should. The girl who waited on me told me it would be put in this week. I can live with that but I had people treating me like I was trying to sabotage their sale. I just wanted to do my job like I've done for the last couple of years. It really bugs me when people who are supposed to be part of a Christian Church act so unChristianlike. I did blow up at them and told them I was doing the best I could and get someone who gets the paper and can see changes to take my job. But I'm really hurting because my church, which is a big, big, big part of my life has treated me so badly, even thought it was just two ladies.
I know I shouldn't let little things like this get me down and I'm sure not going to leave the church because two women feel so important but say a little prayer for me tonight to feel some peace from such a bad day.
Nancy
Nancy,
Hopefully the women are stressed out and not thinking, and will come to the realization that it was an innocent mistake, and hopefully, apologize to you. WWJD if the ad wasn't in on time? My guess is enough people know when it is that you will do fine, church rummage sales are the best places to find treasures! Around here you have to "know someone" to even get at the good stuff!!
Maybe the paper will refund the $19.50 if you explain the misunderstanding.
I think anyone can be rotten at times. Even you say "I did blow up at them". I hope you will receive peace and be able to forgive! (And I hope they will realize what happened!)
Nancy, as old as I am I have encountered many such powerfull, greedy people, no matter how small their job may be. They will never change their attitude of wanting to be above every one else. Just know who you are and try to ignore them, they are not worthy of your pain especially if they cannot appriciate your effort by trying to do it as right as you possibly can.
I am certain there are many other very nice people in you church group you would like to communicate with, so forget those two morans and be happy again .
