You might wanna shoot me but again I think it's too linear. Some people like that and if you do it's fine. It's just not me and you asked for opinions. LOL I would want to rearrange the bricks some to go for a softer, maybe sweeping curve rather than just a straight shot to the door. I also think you need something larger there in the corner. I would do some type of evergreen or small weeping tree and possibly a rock or a couple of stepping stones or something to break up the concrete and brick a bit. Something creeping like thyme or phlox would also soften the lines.

Perhaps you can convince my DH to let me do that? ;-) I agree with the bricks, but since we plan on moving out of here in a few years, he won't let me make any changes like that. I did purchase a rose tree from J&P to replace the boxwood. Also put a semi-circle trellis around the pillar....I have several varieties of MG that could go up it. I will have 2 hanging baskets with 'Happy Chappy' roses and 2 with 'African Sunset' black eyed susan vine. The only perennial (that I remember!) planted in the bed is a type of pink campanula. There are a lot of bulbs so when they bloom it looks pretty, but when they are done, it looks pretty rough. Tamara

LOL Men! Would he totally freak out if you just rearranged them a bit? I'm not saying to get rid of them, maybe just curve them a bit or add a few to the outside edges to soften the look? I bet the trellis is beautiful when blooming with all the bulbs.

I would second BadSeed up there. It looks too linear...especially with the dimensions you have. Perhaps it would be possible to break the linearity by planting, say flowering shrubs and bulbs on the inside and then create an outside curve by planting groundcover in front of the curved inner plantation?

Here's a rough sketch, just to give you an idea:

Thank you! When the bed is blooming, I will take a pic. :-) Tamara
