Really need help

Glen Burnie, MD(Zone 7a)

As IF I don't have enough plants growing already (180), I just ordered another type of cucumber (alibi) that makes great mini gherkins! Anyone have recipe for the pickling juice? I need help! I can't stop buying seeds! And it's not like I have a huge garden!

Good news: seeds will keep quite a long time. Bad news: there is no cure for this obsession. Welcome to addiction *L*.

I have a great Bread and Butter Pickle recipe. Would that work?

I'll give it a try!

OK, I'll Dmail it. I'll have to go looking first. I gave up canning years ago. These were my mother's favorites. After I put up a batch, I'd make Dilly Bread and invite my mom and sister over for a "snack". Somehow the Dilly Bread and pickles never went over big with the men, but we women sure did love the combination!

Hey pickle puss! Are you causing problems?? LOL

A friend of mine has a recipe where you mix the pickle juice, toss in the cukes then put it in the freezer in bags. They are wonderful and crispy!! Let me see if I can get her to come play. :)

She isn't up and on the puter yet or hasn't signed in to MSN. LOL

I made them a couple of years ago. You can leave them in the freezer up to a few months and just put a bag/container in the fridge to thaw when you want to eat them. They are REALLY good!

My kids and I love anything with cukes! For quick summer salads, I cut chunks of cukes, tomatoes, green peppers and onions and cover with Italian dressing. After they set in the fridge a few hours, they are so yummy! I also slice chunks of cucumbers and cover with a mix of vinegar and sugar. The kids eat those like candy.

When I was younger, I used to really make my mom mad. I would peel a cuke, use a spoon to scoop the seeds out, then fill it with ranch dressing and eat the whole thing. It never failed I would do that in the afternoon and my mother had planned a salad for that night. LOL Whoops!

I love cukes too, but as I get older they don't like me as much. I'm thinking of planting one of the 'burpless' varieties this year. And maybe one of the minis like Noobie for pickles.

I think it was Burpee's burpless I grew one year that were really good. They were all my Great Aunt could eat so I would take her some. My Grandma could only eat yellow tomatoes because of the acid in the red. LOL I guess I come by my reflux honestly. LOL I keep eating them but have to pop antacids.

Here's the freezer pickle recipe. It's really easy and they are good. http://davesgarden.com/cookbook/viewentry.php?rid=1150

Hope you enjoy them.

I help to keep Tums in business too. ;~(

Mystic, thanks for the link for the pickles. I will give a copy to my sister, she makes more pickles than i do.

My favorite cucumber is the burpless Orient Express, I grow them up hogwire trellis. the cukes grow about 1 foot in lenghth, best size, and they are so good. Wish I had one now to eat. And it isn't even warm enough to plant the seeds!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here I am talking bad about my friend snoozing the day away and she'd already been outside working up a sweat. How bad do I feel??? LOL I'm working up a mental sweat thinking about all I have to do today....

Thanks for the recipe. I added it to my IE favorites. Donna, Badseed, I will look for Orient Express and/or the Burpee when I get to Olympia. There hasn't been a hugh seed selection in Shelton.
