Got it an answered you back Marcy :)
Another *HUGE* Score! (literally)
I have Holliana too, and find her to be extremely fussy. Absolutely hates to have cuttings taken, and the cuttings rarely live. Lately though, she's been putting on some new leaves - with direct late day sun instead of dappled early day sun, and with more water. Crossing my fingers; she also hasn't bloomed since before I got my digital camera.... I know we all lose some of them, but she was my first hoya with little leaves, and I feel compelled to try and keep her going. At this rate I may even get flowers again one day.
Christine
I am actually gonna send her a couple rooted stems..so not to worry on that one.
I guess I am having beginners luck with her..mine seems to be doign quite well.
Betsy, that hoya is gorgeous!

Christine,
Not sure if you remember, you sent me H. holliana cuttings about a year ago....2 large ones that i cut in half to make 4...well i lost 3 but one survived...hasnt done a thing really for the last year but now its finally getting some new leaves 3 on one vine to be exact and 2 on another in just the last month or so....i can't believe it, was going to give up on the devil soon...lol..i guess patience is a virtue....it is a cutie though....
Sandy
Wow..I am wondering if I am lucky with mine or it just has not started to die yet :( or :) accordingly!
Mine seems to be happy perched on the windowsill
Lorry,
I had mine under some fluorescent lights that the ballast needed to be changed and I didnt realize it.....Duh on my part! So that could of contributed to the lack of growth....now everything is fixed Holliana is doing better....but i am sure being on a bright windowsill keeps her happy too!...its one of those hoyas no one talks about....i would love to see more pics of it!
Sandy
Mine has not bloomed yet but she is SOOO pretty :) I just LOVE it.
I got it off of ebay a while back :) pretty cheaply also
My Holliana was a cutting from a plant that the nursery wanted $35 for. Nice young fella who was watering plants just nipped it off when I lamented that it was so expensive and I'd really rather have a smaller plant anyway to watch grow, even a cutting from that would make me happy. He made me even happier when he said no charge! That cutting, too, took more than a year to get growing, but then it grew like crazy and bloomed quite a few times, and then I started taking cuttings from it. Late last year it looked as if it was ready to bite the dust, so I cut it right back. All the cuttings I took died, but the main plant never did, and recently started growing again. Fussy, but tough in its own hoya way I guess. Here she is before her haircuts.
Christine
Christine - that is a beautiful plant!!!
Gorgeous plant Christine.
Ann
Good growing Christine, I killed one of these hoya's and I really liked it's curly little leaves
Hi Christine,
Yeah its a fussy one but I am pleased its coming along...not going to give up on her yet!...maybe in 20 years, mine will look like yours in the pic you posted....so unique and pretty..
Sandy
It's great too how she's got it draped down over the second shelf like flowing hair, & it can provide a shadier place there for some plants that may not like the higher light.
It's so nice to have a big spot for a BIG plant like that to give them lots of room. It really shows off the beauty of it that way.
Marcy
Betsy, there is no shame is showing off our fabulous blooms!!!! I LOVE THE PICTURES!!! keep 'em coming!
Ann
Marcy - yeah, she's a wonderful "shade cloth" for all the plants on the shelves below her! =0)
Thanks, Ann! =0)
That's what it's all about! What a beautiful H. carnosa! It's regal looking isn't it?
