Another *HUGE* Score! (literally)

Mt Zion, IL(Zone 5b)

I bought this hoya off eBay (for a song & a dance) as a 'local pickup only' item. You can see why it had to be picked up and not shipped - - it's absolutely HUGE! When I carried it in, I held the hanging basket as high above my head as I could and darned if I STILL didn't step on a couple vines and
pulled off a few leaves!!! =0( gaaaah!
It has several peduncles but I haven't counted them yet (again, I can't seem to grow my own, I gotta BUY em!). I also saw at least one large UMBEL (is that what you call it - a peduncle with buds on it?) where all the buds look like they're about to open! Crossing my fingers that they don't *blast* from the trauma of it's journey from past owner to me (several changes of hands were necessary!).
I do believe it's a Crimson Queen - - as she's wearing her "Royalty" (white) - on the outside, which is my way of remember whether its Crimson QUEEN or Princess....Princess is second to the Queen so she must wear hers on the INside. The leaves on this thing are about as big around as the palm of my hand - no kidding!
It's in a 10" hanging basket and if I remember correctly, the lady I bought it from said she's had it 6 or 7 years and has never repotted it. My first instinct is to repot and give it some fresh soil but I'm a little hesitant as it sure seems to be a happy camper growing as is. What do you all suggest?
thanks in advance!
Betsy

Betsy, your a lucky lady. That thing is gigantic. I have one like that, got buds, but they keep on blasting. I'm thinking I am giving it too much water. Carnosa likes to grow dry. Let me know what works for you. I would love to see the flowers!!

It's beautiful! I just got a small one at Home Depot that looks just like that but was unidentified - do you know the name of yours? OOh, I'm going to feed my little one and sing to it and maybe it will grow up to be just like yours...

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Congratulations Betsy,,,,,,,very, very loverly! Ü

Mt Zion, IL(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone for all your comments! It really IS a specatcular hoya!
I have decided NOT to repot it for now....it is definately a two-person job as the pot is heavy and the vines are all tangled in/among themselves. It's a monster.
Desertden: I believe this hoya is "Crimson Queen" (you experts, please feel free to step in here if I've mis-identified it).

Betsy, you're partly right on the name. Its actually called H. Carnosa Tricolor, aka the Krimson Queen Hoya. When the leaves get a lot of bright light, you'll see some of the white turning red in newer leaves, thus earning its "Krimson" name. I have one that's maybe 10 years old, and also picked up two little babies (in 1-1/2" pots) not too long ago at HD - the leaves on the babies are much smaller and the white is only around the edges of the leaves. Very cute.

Thanks, everyone. Awanda also thought mine sounded like H. carnosa Krimson Queen. Betsy, good luck with your umbrels!

Bumpin' this back up - - REMEMBER THIS? Well, it's been sitting out at my sis's place in our little greenhouse and it appears to be VERY happy out there - - LOOK AT THESE BLOOMS! My sis and I counted about 15 or 16 peduncles, all in various stages of bud. This hoya is a MONSTER - her leaves are as big around as the palm of my hand.
She's just beautiful!

That is one heck of a great clone!!!! Congratulations!

Gorgeous Betsy, and I really like how its foliage provides dappled light for the other plants on its stand. I do the same thing with my h.compacta, only not anywhere near the same scale as your beauty!

I could not live without my carnosa, tricolor, picta and a couple others :)
I have the mini one too that starts with an H...

That little one I believe is H. carnosa "Holliana". I had one of those too, but lost it. Think I overwatered or something. We all loose a few here & there, now & then.
