I need some advice

I hire a co. to mow and trim. The trimmers they use are eating away the wood at the bottom of the posts on my rail fence. What would you suggest that I (a sr. citizen) could put around the bottom of the posts, easily, that would look presentable, yet protect the posts from being eaten away?
