Welcome Cindi- pull up a chair and tell us all about yourself and your family. We have a 2x4 that we send around to help DH and kids obey... I don't have it at the moment - who has it??

I didn't plan on getting on the computer again until tonight, but the sun went under, the sky looks ugly and I am cold. So I threw a couple of logs in the woodstove and decided to sit for just 15 min!!

Lauri - for heavens sakes, I must have that receipe - anything that is called 'crap' would be a big hit at our house (boys ya know...any body function sends them into gales of laughter)

I already had lunch, save me some soup for dinner please!!

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Welcome Cindylynn and Hope. I was cleaninghouse today but my get up and go got up and went and now I'm lying around like a big slug eating cybertreats, and petting cats. Its just nasty today, first it was all gray and gloomy and now it's snowing. Ugh. Can't pursuade DH to move south when he retires, either. Like Sarv, I could use a recipe for crap. Reminds me of when my eldest grands were about 5 and 6, they thought "poop" was the funniest word ever and would fall down laughing over it.

Cindylynn has a 15 yr. old daughter. You have our deepest sympathy.

I don't know who has the 2x4, but I think someone requested it to use on themself, due to excessive house cleaning. You know who you are.

Ohhhhh what to make for dinner. Last night I used up the leftover gyro meat from those sandwiches DH brought home last week, and made a nice spicy curry. Wouldn't you know he took the leftovers to work for his lunch.

There! I just stuck my head in the freezer and found a ham bone with a good amount of meat on it, so it's bean soup on the menu. Little effort, maximum quantity. And if my mood shifts from grumpy old lady to minimally cranky I'll make corn muffins to go with it.

Sarv, my dad used to go around where the old sawmills were located up in northern Wisconsin (where he grew up and moved back to in his later years) to pick mushrooms. He and my mom brought them home by the bushel basket full. They put them up in Mason jars. One year they had so many, they cleaned them in the bathtub. An uncle on her side of the family wrote a book about the logging industry, which was mostly who cut where, and how many board feet they shipped out etc. Good bedtime reading, put you right out. He was a dear man, but that book would bore the legs off a centipede. Very little about their daily lives, which would have made it more interesting. Those lumberjacks worked hard for their pay. Nobody today would do that work for comparable pay and such miserable conditions.

I can't find where I hid the chocolate covered Oreos, so I'll have some of Laurie's choc. chip and sugar cookies. Thanks Laurie, you may have saved my life.

Darius, keep those inhalers handy. Bet it was the wind. Glad you are ok. Was sis upset at making the drive ?

Cats are all sound asleep, tempting me to take a nap but if I do I won't sleep tonight so I'd best get off my chair and go do something useful.

Probably won't see you before tomorrow, tonight's Survivor and ER, and I don't have a laptop. Yet. LOL If I do get one, it 's Sarv's fault.

It's SNOWING here.....sob sob. I had to call my garden buddy just to not go crazy. She started a ton of seeds two weeks ago and only two have sprouted! She has the worse luck starting seeds. I started some on Tues and already have a ton up. I always share with her, but I think she is planting the chaff stuff...(and she started zinnea and marigolds and they didn't even sprout for her!)

cindi - you have my sympathies - any 15 yr olds are nasty...

DH came home from work and promptly went out to the barn (his little heaven on earth) I suspect he has some brew hidden...I'll sneak out there later to surprise him. LOL I got the stuff for him to fix the lamp - that will be my excuse

Hope- you are not intruding!! Join us- the more the merrier....

Bal - got some new batteries and my garage door works like a charm- yahoo!!

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Sarv, I told you Tuesday it was probably the batteries, and even though I hate to say I Told You So, no, wait, that's not right, I LOVE to say I Told You So LOL LOL LOL

Hi cindilynn! I have a daughter who will be 15 in June, and a 16 year old son, and a daughter who just left for college....do I love them at that age? hmmmi ....it can change from second to second with girls, sometimes even faster than that!!

You will be required to post pictures of the furbabies for us to oooh and ahh over! Nice seeing you!!

Ha looks like the grimmilins are striking again! LOL at the double posts! (sorry I can't spell) :)

Sarv, so glad you got your remote fixed. Isn't it terrible to be so dependent on those things? Ooooh, my next remote will be one for my ceiling fan. Yep, I want one of those next! LOL

Hey Meezers tooo funny.

And I think Suzie has the 2X4. :)

I talked to Maria just a bit ago ... and while we were talking Samson was giving her kisses and trying to get in her lap. He's so so funny. LOL I think he was trying to give me a kiss or talk to me, actually. I could hear him sniffing and licking the phone. I should have let him talk to Kota, but I was laughing way to hard. LOL LOL

Hey elaine!! I also meant to thank you for your age analysis, life begins at 40 so I'm going to be 8. Eight is a really nice age. I liked 9 and 10 too. I don't want to be 13 again.

That and the saying "I am in good shape, round is a good shape" just give me all kinds of self confidence!! LOL

Oh I'm so glad I could help out. LOL Just let me know when I can boost your ego. I'll be glad to help anytime. ;)

l01 are you coming to the GA RU?

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Elaine - I was offered the 2x4, but haven't used it yet. It's up for grabs for whoever needs it.

You poor people who are still getting snow. Enough already. According to the temp on my computer, it hit around 51 today here and very sunny. Hope you all get some of that real soon.

Taking tomorrow off for a vacation day. Just going to do some errands and work around the house. Since some of you put me too shame with your spring cleaning, I'll put some effort into getting that started. I also have seedlings to re-pot. Don't have a clue where I'll put them, not alot of good light in the house and still too cold outside.

Gravois Mills, MO(Zone 6a)

Susan I would say some of your Hosta just might take a real bad beating if those buds are sticking up. I been going all over my beds everyday when we have freezing weather forecast for the night putting mulch, compost are whatever I can find on top of the emerging buds. I can see direct freeze one night but 3 are 4 in a row i got to wonder what is going to happen. I hope it stops very soon because i have some i can't hardly keep up with anymore. One Honey Bells has about 20 buds the size of your index finger and they just keep coming on real strongly.

I can not believe this weather. I just heard on the news where north GA is expecting snow! Is this *crazy* or what! LOL

Suzie, so glad you haven't needed the 2X4. Wasn't implying anything other than teasing a bit. :)

M5-I'm gonna use that 2x4 on you!!!! Now you're sounding like my DH! LOL (you'd think HE would have changed the batteries for me....)

DS stopped over and I ended up inviting his wife and him to stay for dinner. Nothing as elaborate as Maria fixes tho. Just hamburgs, baked beans and a salad. But it tasted good.

They both get home so late and I remember how I hated arriving home late and then trying to think of something to eat. DIL is such a sweetie - she trimmed our cat's nails. Now the cat won't let me cut them - she snarls and hisses. DIL held her tightly on her lap and the cat sat there and purred until she got to the last nail on the back foot - then she growled and took off!

DIL talked me into going down to our local YMCA and taking an exercise ball class. Do you know how much I don't want to do that!! I just have a real hard time saying NO to her. So think of me huff/puffing with a bunch of 20 yr olds...I get dizzy on the ball too!! Not going to be a pretty sight!

IO1 - snow in Georgia this time of the year!! So strange...when summer comes it will probably be hotter than hades...no spring this year.. We have a remote for our window air conditioner! Now that is silly...

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday...that is still my favorite day of the week.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Sarv, you gotta catch me first! And now we know where the 2X4 is...

Hi Anne so good to see you again! ~~~ and what happened to our odd Carrol? Or was she the even one??? hehehe Always thought that was soooo cute.

Sarv, my DH has a window air conditioner in his shop which has a remote. Tooo funny. The only reason he has one at all is cause when he works out there the mosquitoes were munching on him and with all the scare of West nile virus he black mailed me into giving him one for his shop. :)

Those burgers sounded good to me. Pulled out the soup I made for lunch. There's still more but will pack it for the DH tomorrow. Y'all didn't eat enough today.

Well, I've got to go drag in some plants. There won't be any chance of snow way down south ... and I'm sure it won't get cold enough to hurt anything tonight but I'm not taking any chances with my babies. LOL

Just had to check in and see that Darius was doing okay. Glad to see that you posted and a visit to the all night emergency room was not needed. Keep those inhalers close and the windows closed.

It seems that the entire nation is really getting some strange weather. Tuesday had some wild weather for us. When I left my house for work at 5:30am it was snowing and by the time I reached work it has turned to snow. A bit before 10:00 I was told that the snow was now hail the size of marbles and they really stung when they hit you. I went out for some lunch just after 1:00 and the clouds were all but gone and the wind was blowing about 50 mph and it was a cold wind. Just after 4:30 when I was leaving work I had to take off my coat before getting into the car because I would have been to hot for the drive home, not a cloud in the sky and it was beautiful out. I figured in the period of 12 hours we managed to cover just about every weather condition possible for here.
Today the high was about 75 and by Saturday we should be getting the 80's that are typically expected for us around now. I hope it's true. I am really looking forward to some outside time.

Mary I am still so amazed at your rides. My goal for this summer is to actually get on a horse and sit. I dont think I could do what you do and still be able to walk. My hat is off to you.

Elaine, sorry to hear about your cold weather, hopefully the snow will melt and be benefit that out weighs the hassle of it now.

Sarv, I had to laugh at your remote for the window air conditioner. I have two 4 ton units on my house to keep me cool in the summer and I have remotes for the thermostats and for all 8 ceiling fans throughout the house. People take house cooling serious around here.

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening and a better day tomorrow..

Hi Everyone,

With over 60 messages, I have no prayer of catching up; so I will try only a little later.

Took the Gtwins to Kindermusik this afternoon. Stopped by Walmart on the way home to get one more ball of yarn for the newest afghan. Then by my church to photocopy some music (legally - it comes with special copy permission) for the handbell ensemble. Then home in time to do a bit of computer, but mostly just make dinner and out the door again - back to bells. Needed to get there early because there was a funeral this afternoon with a receiption in the room we use for bells so the janitor couldn't get out tables for us. Bells play on Sunday. Two pieces. Both have sound clips if any of you want to listen to them though the one for Gethsemane's Prayer isn't very good quality.

Are Ye Able? http://www.handbellworld.com/music/MusicPiece.cfm?piece=10973

and Gethsemane's Prayer

One of my ringers teaches Sunday school at the Mennonite Church nearby and she e-mailed me a couple of weeks ago saying she has to teach this Sunday. I'm afraid that I e-mailed her back reminding her she'd had the schedule since AUGUST. But I've gotten the church organist to fill in for her on one piece.

Since I got home, I've been looking at the music I entered into the computer a couple of weeks ago for the Sinfonia Orchestra and readjusting some of the page turns before the dress rehearsal tomorrow. This is what we are doing -

Quoting:
A BARTOK CELEBRATION marking the 125th anniversary of his birth

Sinfonia Ottawa 2006 presents a concert in celebration of Bartok's 125th anniversary. On the program: Bartok, Divertimento for String Orchestra (1939); Songs by Bartok and Kodaly (Carla Svéd, soloist); Sinfonietta Canadiana by Gabor Finta for string orchestra and piano (world première).

Presented with the assistance of the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary. On view, at St. Andrew's Church March 17 to March 27, an exhibit about the life of Bartok (in French) - a traveling exhibit made available by the Embassy.

Now about you - LOL on the Mousievision, Mary. Loved the pics of AP.

Defoe - takes more patience than I have to do those quilts. They are really nice.

Hi cindilynn. Pull up a chair and enjoy the coffee and treats. Look forward to learning more about you.

hope43 - have you been here before? Welcome if you're new. My apologies if I've missed previous posts.

dmc and cindilynn and all those others with 15 yr old daughters, take heart. If you're lucky, they eventually grow up. I think I had a button at that stage on my coat that said "Be nice to me. I have a teen-ager." But at 31 and 33, they've become quite civilized. At least most of the time. LOL

Don't believe it but I seem to have reached the bottom of the thread. Can't say I did anything more than just skim them though so I'm sorry if I haven't commented. Hey, has anyone heard anything today from Kelly? Hope everything is OK there.

Did I tell you I've indulged in a vanity plate for my car? My plates are old and rusty and would have to be replaced soon; so I took the plunge. I'll send you a picture when I get it.

Have a good night everyone.

Ann

Just a quick hello, waving~~~~ to everyone. It was a busy day, the trailer is cleaned up and packed with everything but the last minute stuff and the horse, nope, I have never forgotten to take the horse! I'm pretty much ready to be leaving early in the morning, meeting a friend in the next town and driving up to central 'Washington for the ride. I'll take the camera and hope I remember to use it. So, I'll see all of you Monday morning.

Oh Mary ... do have a wonderful time and *be* careful! We'll miss you at coffee!! Waving bye ~~~

Hi folks,

Okay, apologies beforehand to Robert, Ernie (where-ever you are), and Oz, but I just have to have a little rant before going on to address other people's activities today. I swear it's got to be genetic! I've seen sitcoms built around this issue too, so I know that it isn't just MY DH. Why is it that men simply don't "get it" when sent to the grocery store? This morning my DH said to me "Your mother said we need baking powder." I replied "My mother doesn't cook. She must have meant baking soda, it's used for a lot of things and what little we have left is in kind of poor shape and I know that we don't need baking powder." He said "Write it down so I'll remember." He had a four item shopping list. What do you suppose he came home with? Of course, not one, but TWO, containers of bloody baking powder and NO baking soda! I give up. I can explain, describe, write down everything to within a millimeter and he STILL gets it wrong!

Sarv, thanks for telling me about changing the font in chat. I tried again today, but the whole of DG seemed a bit wonky this morning and I didn't have any luck. Maybe I'll get brave and try again in a week or two.

Darius, glad to hear that you didn't need the ER after all. No reflection at all on you, Babs, but that is a rotten place to be. I hope that whatever has been bothering you goes out of season quickly. Nothing panics me quite so fast as having trouble breathing.

Casey, nice to see you. Please try to check in as often as possible. We all miss you!

Same goes for you, Magoobu. How are you doing these days?

Hi Cindilynn and Hope. Grab a cup and pull up a chair!

101, I sympathize about the mosquitos. DH is like that too. If there's a mosquito within a 2 mile area it will home in on him. He gets bitten just traversing the 6 foot space between the car and the house! Since he didn't grow up with these pesty insects (says he never encountered them in England), he has no immunity to them and ends up with welts 1 to 2 inches across from each mosquito bite.

Mary and M5, loved the kitty pics. I'll have to remember to bring my camera home and try to get more pictures of our critters too.

Hmmm, if life begins at 40, I'm almost 18. Yechh! I hear all you Moms about your teenagers, but as I recall, it wasn't any fun being that age either! No thanks, I would love to be in my twenties again, but wouldn't go back to being a teenager if you paid me.

D'cat, nice work! I've never tried quilting, though I did knit and crochet quite a lot, including several afgans. I gave most of them away, but I have the most elaborate one I ever did and my mother has a few of my projects as well.

Dmcd, see you've already surpassed what you thought you could do. You're a Spring chicken compared to a lot of us here. Go for it!

Susan, I think that I managed to forget to wish you a happy anniversery. I know that I meant to say it. Oh well, hope it was a good one anyway.

Hi to Blooms, suzieq, woodspirit, lauri, V-ann, and anyone else I inadvertantly left out. Have a peaceful and restful night. See you in the morning!

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Quick check-in before hitting the sack. The one newly made bookcase and two older ones are in the room, as are about 10 feet of books.(all in piles on the floor). Still have many boxes and piles of junk to sort tomorrow, then lots of clean up. Good friend John is in rehab after a stroke and doing better; a carpenter friend called today to say he would do the chimney flashing, soffits and fascia for me saturday, weather permitting; new computer desks are working out fine (never could stop at just one); Immy's spot was confirmed today for her Obedience schooling; I didn't buy a LCD TV; and DW called to say they were having a great time. How much better could it be ? I'm bushed, so goodnight and sweet dreams everyone.
