Wow, Heather...it's *loaded*!
My plant says Hi mommy...please teach me how to bloom!! Ü
(Secret hoya trade...last year!)
Buds in March
Tell baby heky hello for me! I also have this one hanging in a southern window, partially shaded, hanging in the corner of the window. I just make sure and not let her get too dry. I think I'm just having a stroke of luck with my hoyas. I can't believe it when I see flowers popping up. I'm just as suprised as everyone else, lol!
Heather
I fell back in love with my hoyas they are finally blooming for me..One never bloomed in the 15 years I had it out of 7 plants I now have 3 blooming..Do you think the bloom booster helped?
Loretta..
Tami...your photos are super. What is the last pinky one? Carol
Tami, how's the fragrance on the H. cv. Sunrise?????
Carol, pinky is crimson queen.
Susan, H. cv. sunrise smells very much like lacunosa. It doesn't seem as strong, but the flower is only half there. My lacunosa is taking off now that the weather has been cold and stormy, the smell is wonderful. Maybe little miss sunrise will put on a better one soon!!!!
Awesome pictures!!! Are you fertilizing right now? Christina, you don't fertilize correct?
Heather
Hi Heather,
No, I don't fertilize much. Once or twice a year, but I do repot ALL of them every year and that is kind of like fertilizing - I think... I haven't started yet, but I intend to fertilize more regularly this year. It'll be fun to see if there is any "difference".
Here's a fully open lobbii for you!
Christina
Ewwwww, I love the colors in this one. How's the smell? Thanks for sharing Christina.
Heather I have been fertilizing. I think I am going to slack off next winter with the Eleanors. Unless it's are weird winter were having, seems like i had more budding up last year. Next month will tell.
Tami
At first it didn't have any smell, but now that the flowers are getting older there is a nice sweet smell if I stick my nose into them.
Christina
Heather alot of mine blasted this year. And then I have one just sitting there that hasn't blasted or grew. It is a new peduncle on one of my australis. Both of my verticillata's have blasted, lacunosa, cv. sunrise,& bella. It is very aggrevating to say the least. I think mine are blasting from the crazy weather were having... I don't know hard to say.. But I wish it would stop...
Tami
That's a shame, girls....I almost think I'd rather settle for my 'budless state' than to have them 'blast'.....I don't think I could handle the disappointment, lol!!
Tami..you mentioned that you thought you had more budding last year....did any of them blast?
Nan, no not a one of them. I didn't have cv. sunrise. We have had a very cold spring though, and of course this will be my first year living in the woods, so it is alot colder than usual. Time will tell, it's just disappointing :(
Tami...you're not *literally* living 'in the woods', are you? LOL!
I guess I hadn't realized you'd recently moved....so your home is much cooler than the last one?
I was watering plants last night and noticed a scent that was unmistakably H. lacunosa.....1 umbel......but I'm happy!
My H. Pachyclada buds haven't opened yet.

Well it has been a long wait. My formerly called lasiantha (not crazy about the new name, praetorii) has finally opened it's buds today. I really think this has been the slowest developing buds I have ever experienced on my Hoyas. I am thinking it has taken at least 2 months......but so worth it. We all have seen pictures of the beautiful flowers, but when they are very own and right in front of your face. Oh how wonderful! When they say this is an early bloomer, they are right now target. I got this very small rooted cutting last September, and now it's blooming.
I also have 2 umbels of bella open, buds on IML 831, Thai 2, serpens, and heuschkeliana (yellow). Bella is one of my favorites, but I sure am fasinated with the flowers of former lasiantha. My picture isn't great, but wanted you all to see it.
Deb
Oh Deb, you win... This flower is simply breath taking. Ya done good girl. How does it smell ? Orange sherbert maybe??? Thank you for sharing...
Tami
Tami, I am just starting to pick up a scent. Sorry to say it smells like moth balls.
Deb
Yep Tami is right you win Deb! Beautiful flowas and well worth the wait:-).
Congrats & blessings,
Awanda
Oh, my. All these flowers are beautiful!!! You are all excellent hoya parents!
LOL, Deb, I hope it's not to strong. Pew.....
Lovely blooms everywhere! Tami, you have got to be so proud of the H. lasiantha! You grow indoors 100% of the time, correct? I am always amazed at how adaptable the hoya are.
Nice photos too, Christina!
Susan
Susan, I wish I could take credit for lasiantha but it is Debs :(
By the way Deb, any photo updates? Please....
Beautiful, everyone!
The buds on my Pachyclada *still* haven't opened, either, but are gaining in size...should be any day now!
Oh, no, Deb!! Mothballs?!! Now that's bittersweet!
Hey should we start a post for April buds?
