Hi gang! Spring must be here despite all the snow we have. I noticed buds a little here and there last night and this morning I took a "tour" to find out which hoyas are budding... I have to admit I took pen and paper with me! I found 36 hoyas to have buds in various sizes - can't wait for them to open! IF all of them continue to grow and not fall off...
This is what I found:
multiflora (2 peduncles with big buds)
caudata ( 5 peduncles with tiny to small buds)
litoralis (1 peduncle with small buds)
pentaphlebia (2 peduncles with small buds)
lobbii (1 peduncle with big buds)
verticillata 'Bronze' (1 peduncle with small buds)
cembra (numerous peduncles with tiny buds)
davidcummingii (3 peduncles with big buds, 2 peduncles with small buds)
cv. Jennifer (1 peduncle with tiny buds... have fallen off in the past)
salweenica (1 peduncle with big buds, 7 peduncles with small buds)
pauciflora (several new peduncles, but only 1 bud that I hope for)
lacunosa (3 peduncles with big buds, 4 peduncles with small buds)
calycina (1 peduncle with big buds, 12 peduncles with tiny to small buds)
pottsii (1 peduncle with small buds)
shepherdii (3 peduncles with small buds)
bordenii (1 peduncle with tiny buds... have fallen off in the past)
magnifica (4 peduncles with small buds)
anulata (9 peduncles with small buds)
incrassata (7 peduncles with small buds)
bella (2 peduncles with big buds)
polyneura (1 peduncle with small buds)
onychoides (2 peduncles with "medium" buds)
australis ssp. australis (3 peduncles with small buds... have fallen off in the past)
inconspicua (5 peduncles with tiny buds)
sp. Tanna (2 peduncles with tiny buds)
pubicalyx 'RHP' (1 peduncle with small buds)
vitiensis (1 peduncle with tiny buds)
polystachya (4 peduncles with small buds)
verticillata 'albomarginata' (1 peduncle with tiny tiny buds)
pubicalyx 'Pink Silver' (1 peduncle with big buds, 1 peduncle with small buds)
padangensis (several peduncles with tiny to small buds... keeps falling off)
picta (4 peduncles with small to big buds)
hypolasia (1 peduncle with tiny buds - can't wait to see these!)
eitapensis (4 peduncles with small buds)
curtisii (1 peduncle with small buds)
DS-70 (7 peduncles with big to small buds and flowers)
I normally don't like bragging, but finding all these buds makes all the TLC in repotting, showering etc SO worth it!
Quite a lot of snow, the sun is up, temp was about -13 C (10 F) last night and now around 20 F. Great day for hoyas to grow!

Buds in March
WOW Christina good grower. My list will be similar to yours. Many buds all over here.
rosita watering my Hoyas
Thanks, neighbor! I found a few more... obovata, wallichii... have also buds!
Christina
Holy Cow! You Swedes sure know how to grow 'em! Way to GO!
Man, I'm jealous!! LOL
Your list of BUDs is longer than my list of my entire collection (NONE of which have BUDs). I have several peduncles...seems I find a new one every week....so HOPEFULLY I'll have some bloomers this spring.
Wow, that is impressive! I have been out of town for a week, what a great post to return to!
Heather
BooHoo I have no buds yet.
Everything I wanted to say has been already said above. ;) Way to go Christina!
Gee...and I am only 1/4 Swedish...!!!! Guess that explains a lot!!! LOL
I have bud-envy.
Thanks guys! It sure seems to be a good spring - at least for my hoyas. I'll keep you updated on the "tricky" ones... hypolasia, bordenii, cv Jennifer and others. Turned my little cv. Sunrise around today and found a tiny peduncle in it... I guess they are everywhere these days. It sure would be nice to see flowers on Sunrise!

How exciting Christina. Makes it all worth while doesn't it? Makes it hard to go to work and leave all your little blooms home. Are you surprised at how many are going to bloom due to the cold dark winter your having? You don't use any lights on your plants do you?
Congrats on all your blooms.
Tami
Tami, it sure is exciting. But I don't go to work at the moment... Don't have any yet, but I'm working on it. Having problems saying no to companies who want ME but I don't want THEM!
Have you checked out Sweden on a map? It may be quite small, but it's VERY long. I'm way down in the very south of Sweden where we have "normal" days all year round. It's way up north that they have extra long days during the summer and almost complete darkness in the winter. When it's at its darkest for us "down here" we have daylight from around 9 in the morning till around 3 in the afternoon. Correct me if I'm wrong, Rosita!
When doing the website for my old job I made this map. Just about all you need to know about Sweden!!!
Christina
Yep, can't get any further south than that. Looks like Jamaica, very long island. Another member who lives in Gamleby, said that it had been very cold this winter is why I asked you. Please Please show pictures of H. vitiensis when she blooms. She is so beautifull..We can all ewww and ahhhh with you...
Tami
I just love the buds on the H. onychoides!
OMG, how beautiful, Christina!!!!
Christina!
Are you not tired of snow? Compare your Hoya with snow! Lol
We having such a long winther here now , snow for nearly 2 mounth it is not common in our part of Sweden. Very, very cold, Jack the frost is here every night.
Rosita looking for spring time now.
Nope, not tired of snow. But I wouldn't mind if it was spring either.
Snow is still pretty to LOOK at, though!
Christina
To look at Yes and then.........
Wow, is the moisture in the flower from the humidity in your house? What a gorgeous picture!!
Heather
No, I think the moisture is from inside the flowers. I've seen this on other hoyas too; imperialis, onychoides and multiflora. Perhaps there's more air in these where humidity can build up from the heat of the sun... I don't know, but I'm guessing this. All 3 flowers are now open and the moisture is gone.
Christina
Nan, that is fantastic!! Thanks for taking the time to post those photos!!
Heather
Oh my gosh Christina, that is a gorgeous flower! Need to show this picture to mine. Can't wait to see some flowers on it now.
