Andy,
I hate to tell you it took about half of that, once I figured out it wasn't automatically saving it as a jpeg it was all but done. I don't have any bug pics right now - those are all yours. I'll take some earwig pics for you this year.

these photos are 3 days apart

Hey Al, nice to see someone else up early! Nice dahlias, I really like that last one! What program do you use to 'collage'? We've had some really pretty ones in years past, although I usually don't plant them because I always forget to dig them up and bring them inside :( We do have one we picked up a couple of years ago at a flower show - my husband had to get it - Jerry Garcia :) It turned out to be a beautiful deep red. We forgot to dig up "Jerry" and he actually came back the next year! We forgot again last fall but since it's been a pretty mild winter for us, I'm in hopes we can bring him back from the 'Dead' again :) Here's a few that we did get planted last year - have no idea what they are, but they were a dwarf variety that got swallowed up when all the coleus they were planted near got huge!

Andy, great job! LOL, took you an hour!! You have no idea how long it took me the first couple (hundred??) times :) I enjoyed sending you the instructions - gave me a chance to use my new program - SnagIt! http://www.techsmith.com/snagit.asp - a fantastic tool for capturing ANYTHING off your screen. I really like it when I'm browsing the contents of a book on Amazon and I had never been able to "grab" an image of a page in the book (not allowed), but now with this program I can "grab" anything!

Hope you NE'ers are getting some of this nice weather! It's nice to be able to get so much accomplished outside this early in the year. Seems like it's usually the end of April before I can get started on the chore of cleaning up our gardens - and usually the tulips, daffodils, etc. have grown right up through the tangled mess of last year's dead foliage :( Hopefully this weather will last so I can beat them to it! Although, everything is coming on much sooner - heck one of our Cherries is starting to bloom and this doesn't usually happen until the first of April or later!

Hey everyone. I got a lot accomplished yesterday, but not everything. I was inspired by everyone's pics, which are great, so here are a few of my own. The Weather idiots got it all wrong again...it was supposed to be nice the wholeweekend..of course we are going to have showers on and off today! I had so much more that I wanted to do outside.

Great job on the collages! I cheated and actually bought a program that will do it for me. http://lumapix.com.

Deb, I use this program and I especially like it because it's free!! http://www.webtree.ca/newlife/printkey_info.htm

So - what did everyone do yesterday??

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

sorry - the caffeine hasn't kicked in yet..here's the pic

Deb,
We have Photoshop Elements 2.0. I think my wife picked it out for more scrapbooking uses - although I don't think she has ever used it. Forget to lift your dahlias? no really - forget?

Anita - sonny boy and I are home alone this weekend. We went to a movie yesterday.

I don't have any new flower pictures really -just stumps.

love your garden Al..do you take care of it alone or does your wife help too?

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Morning All.
Thanks again Debbie for your guidance with PhotoShop.
The next thing is overlaying one image onto another. Not yet though, I have to pace myself or I'll forget the previous lessons. Old age disease, lol.

Al, I didn't think my 1+ hour was too bad considering 13 months ago I had never touched a PC. A lot of steps involved were totally new, with terms I had never heard before. That's why I tried it with a clear head in the morning, lol.
I'll bet you have been playing with PCs for a good while.

By the way, the PhotoShop 7.0 software came with this little used laptop when I bought it. The seller asked what I planned on using the PC for and loaded it up with what he thought I would need. No useless extras. I got about $500. worth of software installed and the PC for $500. What a deal ! ! !

Gotta run, lots to do today.

That was a good deal Andy - good for you!!!

Mrs. Bigcity is primarily retained on a consulting basis. She does have a few beds that are 'hers', but she really doesn't do much work except bizarre plant selections and complaining. This spring I think we are doing an extreme makeover on her beds to get them in line.

You know I was just talking about this with someone, if I was to rank time spent in the garden it would be like this
1. watering
2. deadheading
3.weeding
4. buying plants ?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Andy - Yeah I've been on computers for quite a while so don't feel bad. I started out on an Apple IIe way back in the day. That being said - if I can't figure it out by clicking on something I usually skip it :)

I spent this rainy morning sowing some more seeds. This what I've done so far. http://lakehousecreations.com/Seed_Sown.htm Keep in mind that I'm wintersowing. I'm really bumbed that I can't be out there cleaning up!!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Sarah got her bath today, she hates when that happens, LOL.
No she didn't roll on the grass either. She was put out though, I washed all her beds, towels and even her collar. She didn't know where to lay down and felt 'naked' without her collar.
Everything is back to normal now. She is clean and napping on a clean bed wearing her clean collar. That ought to last for a few days. ha,ha.
I'm wondering if I'm going to get slapped for using the 'n' word.

It's amazing how scent oriented animals are. My cats used to freak if one went to the vet and then came back - they would hiss and avoid the one for awhile.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

OK crazy cat lady - fess up - how many cats are in your bachelorette pad?

Hi everyone!!!

None anymore Al - they all died a few years ago. I haven't had the heart to have anymore and now I have too many plants that they would eat!!

Nice bed King!! I see basil, tomato and is that broccoli rabe in the front?

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Hi KF1,
Nice summer picture, hitting any balls yet?
Hard to go wrong with raised beds.

It's Monday again?? I thought we were looking into 3 day weekends??

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Work today was a bust. I brought in my helper to try to get a jump on things only to find workmen in every room. The water was shut off, furnace off, electricians with face masks and the inevitable dust.
We did a few things for 2 hours and called it a day. What a waste.
I did pick up all the old bricks from that fireplace hearth. They could not be re-used there but will work fine to edge a flower bed here.

Andy - are they old one? They look great in the garden especially the real old ones!
