I'll agree to the need for a Canna forum. I have an order comming in from Horn Canna Farm and I'm a relative newcomer to Cannas. I'm going to need findable help. Dotti

Deanna,
Please guide me along on planting the Stuttgarts. Mine will arrive tomorrow. What should I do with them to put them in the ground? I have a South facing flowerbed flanked by the garage wall on one side. It doesn't get much sun there most of the day, so I think they'll work there. Can I put a few in containers on the east facing patio? Please advise. Thanks much! Let's compare notes since we're starting the Stuttgarts together, ok?

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hello Benj and Deanna,

I, too, am starting my Stuttgarts for the first time. I must say, though, it would
seem those in cooler climates could get away with partial sun. Here in Oklahoma
I can see where that bright sun would scorch the white stripes in the foliage.

They are in the shade and with any luck, should be popping out this week, as
our cold period finally seems to be coming to and end.

A great thread about Tropicanna.

Ok, I'm in too....Canna getta Canna Forum??

Question about canna seeds, is it too late to get some now and start them? Do you think that they will they form a good rhiozome by the fall for me in time to over-winter?
How long does it usually take to reach blooming size, and/or does it depend on the variety? This is very interesting.
I'm off to look at what to order now....thanks you guys, my enabling friends, lol.

I'm a canna newbie also. Just rec'd 30+ tubers from HORN CANNA FARM. If you'd like to see a very colorful canna (the foliage) go to PLANT DELIGHTS and look up the 'Canna Phaison'---expensive, gaudy and someday I'm gonna get one!!!

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

HI JanLynn. Welcome to the world of Canna nuts!!! I'm a Canna newbie too, but I only have 9....but three are in bloom...including two 7' tall Tropicannas.

I don't want you to get lost over here, we got our Canna Forum http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/cannas/all/ and you need to copy your post over there so everybody will know you've joined us in our madness!

Patti,
how do I copy my canna posts to the new forum? I've been reporting Stuttgart progress all over the place. Advise, please. Thanks.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hi Benjamin,

It isn't necessary to do that, as Terry (or one of the other fab mods) moved
all of the Canna discussions there already.

Hey, I'm new to this forum but I'm another canna lover.
I haven't noticed any of you offering trades. Every time I think about ordering from Horns it's too late. I just checked one of the other places one of you had mentioned that had 100% post. feed back and they are sold out too. So what's a canna addict to do?

I have some Tall Wyoming, Cleopatra, and a Tropicanna Gold that I'd love to trade for some starts of any canna that blooms pink, has different colored foilage, or pastel colored blooms.
This trade will need to be very soon while I can still afford to ship a box out. LOL

Hi Lovelyiris, have you gone over to the Canna forum to ask about trades? If you click the link in the post right above yours that'll take you to the forum.

You can also start a thread on the plant trading forum. Canna are traded on there all the time but you have to be watching for it.
