Coffee and....Sunday, February 26, 2006 =^..^=
They're coming to take me away ha ha they're coming to take me away ho ho he he ha ha to the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and their working toilets and they're coming to take me away HA HA...........
Well it's the wee hours of the morning. The kids toilet stopped up at about 11 pm. Plunging managed to plug the 'main line' whatever that is. Plunging OUR toilet broke the seal. Water everywhere. Wetvac in the tub. My thread about Always pads had me sticking maxi pads to the floor to soak up water. My toilet is now wearing menstrual pads. hahahohohehe. I am afraid to go to bed. I don't know what I'll wake up to.
I dreamt night before last, I swear, I even told Rob about it, that our toiled blocked up and overflowed everywhere and the guys ignored it and it was awful and Rob and I packed up the pets and moved out. hahahohohehe. Maybe a plumber will call back in the morning. Maybe not. We are currently using a cat litter tub and cat litter for our potty! hahahohohehe. Please pray for our sanity. If you don't hear from me again it's because they really did come take me away.
Insanely yours, mich

Good Morning!! Oh glory, was the wedding something else. . On the way to the reception we saw the limo the wedding party was in along side the road (limo was huge - 20 kids in it) Long story, short - limo blew two tires, took it 2 mile to stop it and by that time they had ruined the tire rims. Wedding party showed up 1 1/2 hr after the reception started - so sloshed they couldn't even make it up the stairs to the reception area. Poor mother of the bride (our friends) was so upset!! She told us the wedding cost over 20 th - everything went wrong - dinner served 2 hrs late - music so loud you couldn't hear to talk. And before the late dinner, bride had to cut her cake, do the garter thing, a zillion toasts by tipsy wedding party....on and on and on. I was gnawing on my napkin!! Stayed till the bitter end, had fun, and I imagine there were a ton of headaches this morning! Oh to be young again....
Took a look at the plant hanger- how do you attach the wood part of it?
Mary - cattle wrestling....really!! Sounds like the old west out there. Guess in the city, they just take cars.. Just don't understand that segment of society that thinks they can steal from others - don't they have a conscience?
keyi - kitty litter and pads -how funny or awful depending on which side you are on!! Hope you get the problem solved asap!! Ours always plug up when the cold weather hits or we have a gang of people coming over. Never fails...
IO1 - oh zone envy here- beautiful blooms. It's 11 deg here and windy, but sun is out - snow tomorrow. And on and on the weather goes here.
Hello to everyone = read all your posts, but need to throw some wood on the fire and warm it up in here. Check in later@
Well, I am dressed and ready to head out to take DM to church.
Just wanted to let everybody know that it was late last night, but I did manage to post a picture of the pot hanger. So go look at it. Sarv has already asked how the pot fits in there, It is all in the way that cut out is done. It grabs the rim of the pot and holds it firmly.
Will catch up when I get back from church.
Morning All!! Hope it is a fine warm day for everyone. If not outside, then at least inside!!
Elaine - Ditto on the nice hair doo! Singing balloon too, never heard one... yet! Beautiful Hyacinths and nice Azela bloom too.
Defoe - not what I was picturing, but looks good. Could you possibly trace it and post the drawing with dimensions? Might give us all a better idea how to do it and how the pots hold in there. Could prob do ones much longer too, once you had the main idea down. Bigger pots too.
Gee, makes me madder still that ex got the table saw and router that he never used but I did!! That looks like something fun to make and use! Good for gifts too!
Lani - so sorry about your fridge! Not cheap to replace either. If you lived near here I'd loan you my apt size ref till you could get a replacement one.
Defoe - Like I told Sarv, put a little more in each payday and wouldn't hurt so much at the end. I'd have to do it that way, since coming up with the couple hundred bucks at tax time would put a big kink in my small budget. That is why I have my real estate taxes and insurance added to my house payment too!
Where did you come up with that Fish-Fish-Fish shirt? I am looking for something for Boss' 50th birthday and sounds just like him.
V Ann - glad the concert went great. You are so talented and I am living vicariously through you! I know almost zip about music and couldn't carry a tune in a bag, or so I've been told. Doesn't stop me from singing + humming along though!
Susan - glad your DD is much better! Pain free since last wkend is great!! Had to be the chocolate that fixed it!!! Tell her to have more in prep for the other surgery! Chocolate, the miracle drug!
Anna, my DD just came in asking for choc bar... me, forgetting that it is morning and hadn't had breakfast agreed to it and told her to bring me one too. LOL What a Mom I am turning out to be, LOL Hey, we will have to get breakfast after I finish on here! Must have been the influence of the previously typed paragraph, chocloate, the miracle drug!
Keyi - Yikes!! Sorry about the toilet!! Hope the plumber comes and rescues you soon! I lived in Korea for almost a yr w/ outdoor plumbing. Got a potty pail that used and had to dump/clean every day, cuz I don't do outdoor potties, esp in the middle of the night with a ferocious dog close by! First night and the last time I had to do that was scary!!
Sarv - Wow on the wedding! Guess they weren't paying for it themselves! Not a great start, let's hope that it gets better from here on out!
Big waves to all and a special "Hi" to all that I didn't mention by name! Thinking of you and hoping to get back, but better go make breakfast or the little one will be bouncing off the ceiling since she had a choc bar!
Well, computer tried to shut down IE and I managed to save what I had typed, thank goodness!! Have a great day all!! Later, Suzi :)
IO1, Loving all your pictures of you, hair, flowers, furbaby sweetheat, etc. I must add that your fireplace is awesome!!!!
To everyone else, good morning! Reading the posts yesterday and today was a real walk on the wild side....up's and down's just like a roller coaster! I wish for all of you whatever it takes to smooth out your path.
(((Group Hug)))
Pati
Hi everyone!! Sunny here and 14 degrees - yikes! Couse it's 62 here by the computer, which i'm used to, and comfortable with. Oh, and after the power outages, VERY appreciative of!!
keyi~Oh I'm cringing!! I would have toilet blockage nightmares too!! Happened to me last fall, caught it early, got a plumber, thanked God over and over that the yuck was confined to the basement shower stall and the continuously going shop vac. Yes, I'd willingly go with the white coats to a clean place with flush toilets!!
sarv~oh if only someone had videotaped the wedding, there are shows of all those nightmarey things, and maybe the mother of the bride could recoup some of her costs selling the video!! I would be heartbroken myself, I hope I never have to do a big wedding, although I have two daughters. I had a little wedding in a beautfiul little church, and it was such a nice day we just walked over to the hotel where the reception was. And it was just a luncheon, no alcohol-free-for-all, which to me always seems kind of sad. I guess summer afternoon weddings and garden weddings, and such seem less likely to have all the pressure.
Elaine~ you have the cutest little 'mater babies, proud mama. Of course Kota takes first prize!! I think it's great you're getting photos on here!! It will be awhile before I have mater babies...I may start some soon under lights. I always try to push it a little, but it keeps me hopeful for spring.
dcat~Hi!! See ya later!! i'm headed back to catch up on last night!!
This message was edited Feb 26, 2006 9:10 AM
Checked up on last night and wanted to add
CASEY~~ good to see you!! You will have a blast in SC. I hope you'll take some riding lessons eventually. Just go slow. I was very sore after pushing it (okay I was sore for the first two years back!!) The friend I went with and I, both 45-year-old beginners, thought we walked around like the old "Wild and Crazy Guys" from Saturday night live, we had such charley horse!! I went from "maybe I'll try it" to four horses, jump courses, western trail riding, 5 horse drawn carriages, three sleighs, a horse trailer and new Chevy diesel Silverado in less than five years!! A nd I'm having more fun than a person should be legally allowed to! When you have all that land and FENCING it's just not right to waste it!! LOL off the soap box.
Elaine~loved all the pics. Even if you can't see the beautiful hyacinths, the smell is beyond that beauty! I love bringing a few into the house...it's aromatherapy! And your haircut is beautiful!
Ann~yay! Glad the concert went well and no string problems
Mary -Rusteling is big thing in Missouri also. They drive cattle trucks onto pastures have a load of cattle and are out of there in minutes. Hit the hwy and before daylight they got them sold. Some of these people that buy cattle try real hard not to ask questions. I would love to see implanted tracking devices placed in some cattle. Unlike the old west however, If you shoot and kill one of those fellas the law is more on his side than yours.
Oz~ I was kind of thinking if they're acting like the Old West cattle rustlers, maybe they ought to get the treatment!!
Hi All,
Just checking in before I get my substantial hiney out of this chair and in gear.
Susan,
Glad to hear DD is doing better. Hope you're having fun with Hinne. I Can't wait to see that movie,,,I'm sure I'll go through many, many tissues. It'll hit close to home 'cause Mooshka is a Siberian Husky. Glad you enjoyed it.
Elaine,
Pics are great,,,hair looks good, Kota is such a sweetie,,,I would just love to come and give her a great big hug,,,but can't so will ask you to do it for me. Maters are coming along nicely. Hyacinths and Azalea are gorgeous.
keyi,
Hang on there,,,,it'll get fixed,,,,what a nightmare. Can't imagine using the facilities that you are,,,I sure hope that plumber calls soon.
sarv,
What a memorable wedding that was,,,LOL sounds like anything that could go wrong did,,,,poor parents,,,poor couple,,,they'll look back in years to come and prolly be able to laugh about it,,but I'm sure it will be many years before they can.
dcat,
I've seen those plant holders before,,,they are realy nice, very cute when they are in full bloom.
BR,
Isn't that the way it always works??? Grrrr, he gets the tools that you used,,,somethin' not right about that,,,LOL
pati,
Good morning to you too,,,always a walk on the wild side in here,,,,lol
dmc,
Sounds like you have become quite the rider,,,good for you. I love horses,,,but live in town, so none for me.
oz,
Can't believe people still do that,,,,terrible.
Bill's van is on the fritz,,,he thought maybe it was the battery, but we didn't get that lucky, he tested it and it takes a charge so it will have to go in and get hooked up to the computer to see what's wrong with it. I just pray it's something inexpensive.
Bill was out snowmobiling yesterday, they were on their way home last night, crossing a field right across from where his friend Al lives and Bill hit a deer with his sled. He didn't even see it, it was just there. He went flying over the sled, landed, slid and then rolled, ending up about 50 yards down the trail in front of the sled. The sled rolled about 5 times landed on it's side still running and the hood was all busted up into pieces. The headlight ended up still attached and shinning about 5 feet away from the sled, the tachometer was the same way, still attached and lit up, the shield from his helmet came off and was somewhere in the field along with all the other parts from the sled and the deer ended up with 2 broken back legs. Won't go into anymore detail about the deer, don't want to gross anyone out. He said as soon as he hit the deer, his first thought was that was going to be the end for him.
Bill is o.k., thanks God! He had to call the police to file a report for insurance purposes. The police told him he had to bring the deer into town to register it. When he got to the registration place, both the city cop and the county cop were there waiting for him. They pulled him right away and did a field sobriety test. He passed. He had a few cans of beer but they were spread through out the day so he wasn't riding drunk. He's usually pretty careful about that.
After the deer was registered, the cops followed him to his friends house where the sled was so they could take pictures of it. I went out to pick him up and we looked at the sled. Not a perty sight. I didn't see it all that well, it was under a yard light and I didn't get out of my truck. I did see that one piece of the hood was still there,,,but the rest was all gone. Hard telling what else is wrong with it. He'll have to go to the insurance agency Mon. morning to file a claim. We'll find out more later.
Bill and his friend Jeff went out to pick the sled up, so it's home, but he's got the cover on it. I'll look at it later today.
For now, I just thank God that He was watching out for Bill last night. It could have been much worse than just being sore. Hitting a deer at 55-60 mph on a sled,,,usually the deer wins and you end up being the one all messed up,,,some people have not made it through an accident like that.
Well, sorry to take up so much of my post with such depressing news but I just had to get it out of my mind.
I'm going to get some things done around the house today,,,keep my mind busy.
I'll check back in later.
Hi to all who I haven't mentioned and who haven't checked in yet.
Kelly
Well, back from church, had lunch, read the paper, fixed deviled eggs and Au Gratin potatoes to take to a pot luck tonight. DH opted to go to the Rehab hospital this morning, instead of church. This pot luck begins at 4:30, so was going to be a rush to go to the hospital after church, and get back for the pot luck. Men have it so easy, all they have to do is show up at a pot luck meal, and all they need to bring is an appetite.
Yesterday DH and 3 of his hunting/fishing buddies fried some rabbit. They have a weird menu but it's only them. DH was in charge of frying potatoes, and making corn bread. Well, he can do the potatoes, but I mixed up the corn bread for him. When he got back, he said they really liked the corn bread, and I told them I made it!! Yeah, he put it in a pan and baked it.
Sarv, do you mean to tell me the bride and groom were late and drunk by the time they got to their own wedding? Bet the parents footing the bill were livid. Talk about throwing money away. I read an article in a magazine several months ago saying weddings now cost $20,000-and up. Why the heck, if you got that kind of money, have a family only ceremony, and start to build a house?
keyi, hope by the time I post this that the plumber has your situation under control. My plumbing always fails on holidays, or when I have guests.
Briar Rose If you are interested, I can trace the pattern and mail it to you. You are right, once you get the idea, variations could be made. If I had a router and table saw, I still would be out of luck, cause I don't know how to use them. I would like to find a tech school, where I could take some basic courses in woodworking. The tshirt was ordered from one of those Lillian Vernon catalogue, or one like it. I think it was like $18.00. A neighbor has one that says "here fishy, fishy, fishy".
Talk about taking more taxes out, we even have extra taken out to try to avoid paying extra. Plus pay quarter estimated taxes. Don't know why we have to pay, but since DH stopped farming, don't get any deductions there. We used to have the tax preparer, look at our taxes before years end, then if it was going to be close, DH would purchase some machinery for the farm that would offset the difference. We have 2 rental properties, and lord knows we don't make much money on them. So when someone the other day said "the IRS" spells theirs when put together, didn't know how right that is.
101 your babies will soon be teenagers!! Oh no, better watch them closely, cause they will be slipping out and missing curfew!! They really do look good. Plus the highlights look great. Who said they liked your fireplace. I even went back and looked and it looked like computer equipment or stereo equipment in the background to me. So now tell us, what is in the background of your picture?
dmc, you didn't ease into the horse hobby, sounds like you took a long running jump!! I would be scared to death to invest that much, and then maybe find out I didn't like it.
Ozarkian, around here they don't call it rustling, but it is still the same thing. Doesn't take too long to pull into a field and load a truck of cattle, and be gone.
Hi pattischell, I'm waving at you.
I am going to post a picture of Miss Boots in her usual place at the computer.
I will check in later.
Hi everyone
Hope all is having a wonderful day. It's sunny in the south today, but cool. The wind is blowing a bit, so that sun is definitely deceiving. Went outside to sweep, but decided it was useless and came in. That's *my* story, and I'm stickin to it. LOL
Went back and read everything. Sooo funny about the toilet. I know, mich. Shouldn't be laughing like that. You have to admit, though, it *was* a good story that early in the a.m. Have you seen any white coats yet? :) Hope you see some plumbers in your very near future.
Oh sarv, does that wedding *ever* sound like a disaster!!! Makes me glad I had an itty bitty one ... and therre are no kids to worry about. ;) I could just see you sitting there chewing on your napkin. LOL I'd probably been chewing on the table leg or something. I feel so so sorry for your friend. All that $$!
Hi Pati ... so nice of you ... all those sweet things. I just love the fire place, also. Hasn't been cold enough for a fire this year, though. Plus, I just got new carpet a couple of years ago and must admit haven't had one since. I know ... but when it gets a bit tracked up I won't mind so much. LOL
Thanks all for compliments on hair/flowers. I must add for those who don't know me, though ... just teasing about the 2X4 on the DH. he's a *real* sweetie and keeper. We tease like that, so he wouldn't mind or take offence. I, however, wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong impression as we're *very* close. :)
DMC, I do love bringing those blooms in, and since I could see for 20 years ... I still remember what colors look like. :-) That's a *big* plus. I'm starting fragrant flowers this year from seed. Sure hope they come up. :)
Well, I'm waving at everyone else and sending hugs. Wish I could say hello individually to each of you, but I'd be here all day. LOL
... Elaine
Invited DIL/DS over for a birthday dinner and now I'm kicking myself. I just feel crummy - stomach all upset and I only had two drinks last night!! I'm trying three new recipes that have to be assembled at the last minute - not good choices, but I already told DIL what I was treating her to. Decided not to do a birthday cake - we're just having banana splits. I've tried munching crackers, sipping a cola, tums....I just want to crash...Oh well, she'll understand- she's a sweetie.
Yes, defoe, the bride and the whole wedding party were blitzed. They could walk/talk, but just acted really, really stupid - hollaring and weaving about. Parents were really in a tizzy... Glad I wasn't footing that bill. By the end of the evening, the bar was out of liquor except for beer- the way drinks were flowing, I imagine that was the most costly part!! Dinner was $40 a plate, but I imagine that included a bar portion.
GG - phew, at least Bill wasn't hurt. He could easily been a gonner. Snowmobiling scares me now. We used to go all the time - I even had my own sled. But those days are well gone. We still have one of the sleds in the barn - I'm not sure why DH is keeping it - did I ever tell ya he is a pack rat? Probably rates antique status by now.
Gonna go crash for an hour and see if that helps..
Pssst...defoecat, I was the one that loved the fireplace......that pix was on yesterday's thread.
Pati
Gosh had commented on everybody else, GG, so glad that Bill is all right. It could have been really worse. Around here, it's the car vs the deer. My son hit 5 in one winter. Just got so that he didn't even comment on it. Glad his car at the time was an old clunker. He would just straighten out the fenders as best he could and drive it that way.
Okay, about ready to hit the road for the pot luck.
DH called awhile ago, and DMIL is doing good. Ate a good lunch, and he went with her to a chapel service in the basement of the hospital. He is supposed to be back in time to go to the pot luck.
I will check in again later.
Okay Pati, I just went back and looked. Sorry, I thought someone was seeing things, but it was me NOT seeing things.
Thanks Pati! I was soooo confused! LOL I *thought* there was a fire place in there somewhere. LOL LOL Didn't think I was *that* turned around. hehehe
Defoe, glad to hear the MIL is doing better now. Hope y'all have fun tonight. You sure deserve to let your hair down a bit.
Kelly, so sorry about Bill, but glad to know he's just bruised up. I've got a BIL that we tease and say he has to go to the Fish and Game Commission ... he has hit so many deer!!! LOL We really give him a hard time. Deer are really bad here.
I've been outside washing a couple more flower pots. Ewww it's cold! Hope everyone is staying warm up north where it's *really* cold! Going to go check the roast now.
... Elaine
Hello and a happy Sunday to all. Lamb count was only 2 last night, a set of twins. The ewe was already in the barn, having followed another ewe with lambs in from the field, and so all I did was iodine the lambs navels and put them in a pen, and write the information on the barn chart. One little lamb is sick and in the warming oven (barrel) so I gave him some sympathy. He is getting tube feedings and so I got some milk from his mother for that. She was cooperative, some aren't. You can picture this: I got down on my knees with jar in hand, held the ewe against the side of the pen with my hip against her shoulder and my head jammed into her flank (between the ribs and the hip), so I could reach under her and fill my little jar. She only stomped a couple of times and that was when she couldn't see her other lamb. I kept shoving him back around behind me so she could see him but he was interested in what I was doing. Sometimes it takes a second person to restrain the ewe so I'm thankful this one was nice.
Sarv, what a fiasco that wedding was. I can't emagine spending that kind of money on something like that. I'm sure nobody in the crowd noticed your not so perfect dress so you needn't have worried about that. I hope your tummy feels better before you have to go to todays doings. Oh, and rustling cows is not the same as wrestling cows. If you have ever watched rodeo, there is a contest called Steer Wrestling (aka Bulldogging) where the cowboy rides up along one side of a running steer, jumps off and grabs the steer's horns and wrestles it to the ground. No thanks, I don't want to jump off a perfectly good horse any more than I would jump out of a perfectly good airplane.
Kelly, I'm sure glad your hubby is ok, too bad about the sled, and as for the deer, they do find interesting ways to commit hari kari, or in this case it was Hairy. I hope the insurance covers it. In the last year my hubby and I have each hit a deer with our pickups, the old pickup that I drive around here has a big bash in the side of it, but the door still opens and shuts and it is not worth fixing a 77 model. Hubby was driving it when that happened. Then maybe a month later I had one run in front of me when I was driving the pickup that I use to pull the trailer. It has a sturdy grille guard deer catcher thing which paid for itself that day, otherwise I would probably have had the grille, the radiator, the headlight and the fender all messed up. No damage there except for the deer which was totaled and died almost instantly. When I told my hubby what had happened he ordered a deer catcher for the car right away.
Keyi, Oooo, double double toilet trouble. Hope the fun is over soon.
Elaine, my compliments on the nice rock fireplace. I've always liked rock work better than bricks because rocks are individuals. Kudos on the hairdoo and nice doggy. She does look like she needs another hug. Your baby tomatoes are looking good, and the flowers, oooo come on spring! I'm glad you remember what colors look like and I think you will enjoy the fragrant flowers much more than the rest of us, so I hope they all do well.
dmc, good for you taking jumping lessons. I wish I had had the chance at a few lessons, it would help me now, but at this stage in my life probably wouldn't be of much use. When I learned to ride I was behind the saddle hanging on to the strings, my sister was in the drivers seat. Later, when we got another horse and she took the saddle, I was bareback for a couple of years until I got my own saddle and then had to figure out what to do with stirrups. Along the way I developed my own style of riding and a few bad habits.
Waves to everybody else, have a great day. Olympic coverage is on, last day to watch it. See ya.
Took me a while to catch up, what a bunch of chatterboxes!! Me included...my first report card mentioned to my parents that I was a little chatterbox. So nothing has changed, LOL
Elaine, your haircut turned out great, you look cute as a button. Does your DH help you pick out your wardrobe, that's a really cute outfit you had on. And of course now I'm dismal because I won't see a hyacinth or an azalea for a couple of months, let alone a tomato starting, but thanks for sharing yours. Kota is a sweetie.
Sarv, what a wedding. Somebody would have had to tape my mouth shut I would have been in stitches. Il'm sure someone had a video camera. I can imagine the parents, spending all that money to see such a debacle. Think the bride and groom will manage their married life any better??
Ann, you have an exhausting schedule, you, Babs, and several others must have taken time management seminars to juggle all those responsibilites. If I have manage one appointment or necessary chore a day I feel pretty good.........line up two or three and I'm frazzled.
Robert, will you get a report from the Vet for Immy tomorrow? Sometimes they have to send lab work out, and the waiting is excruciating.
Did our east coaster get a load of snow dumped on them? Dmcd, and Maria? I usually have enough food stashed away that we could eat for a week, but I don't have to have milk or bread for kids so I can avoid the supermarket crowds when bad weather looms. Best time for shopping is about 7 a.m., all you have to watch out for is not to run your cart over the stockers.
Carat, I have my camera on the charger dock all the time, ready for Sammi's antics. I'm quick to grab it when he starts his antics, which occur all day long. Mini is the primary target for his desire to wrestle and pounce. Souky has let him know in no uncertain terms that she is not to be annoyed, harassed, teased, chased or otherwise disturbed, and she doesn't complain or whine like Mini does so she's not as much fun. Sometimes she comes up on my lap and just stares down at him as though to say, "You can't touch me now".
Keyi and Lani, plumbing failures and refrigerator death on a weekend! What? Is the moon in some degenerative state causing disasters?
Dcat, I hear echoes of my childhood, "Act like a lady" "Don't run!" "Keep your voice down". Didn't work then, either. Seven weeks away from home for your MIL....you can be sure she will be motivated to get back into her own surroundings. Imagine all that hospital food!! Tx for the photo of the plant hanger, I just couldn't get that constructed in my mind. Nice picture of Miss Boots, sleeping next to the mouse. She's a pretty girl!
Briar Rose, most of those mail order catalogs are on line, plus if you Google T-shirts, there are a lot of sites where you can order all kinds of inscriptions on them. Someone else wanted one and it has slipped my mind who asked about it.
I drive past a horse farm up the road a ways almost every day. They give riding lessons, and board horses, etc. Last time I was on a horse was in 1960 or so, but it has crossed my mind to stop there and sign up. Think my old bones would hold up or would I just discover new places to have aches and pains?
GG, Bill is one lucky guy, hitting a deer on a snowmobile is like Russian Roulette! all you have to do is land wrong and you are a goner. We hit a deer coming down from Saxon in the eighties, in my new car!! At night of course, when they are moving around, and it not only dented the hood and took out a headlight, it spun around and the hooves hit the door, ended up with almost two grand in damage and then the darn thing got up and ran back into the woods. Waited for the deputies for about an hour in order to file a police report so that insurance would cover it. Scared the wits out of me....!
Edited becooz I caaint speel either.
Waving HI/BYE to everybody else. TTYL
Sheila

Sarv, sorry you weren't feeling well. Hope the nap helps!
GG - Wow! Bill is so fortunate! God was sure protecting him!!!
That wedding - reminds me - my boss' dau is getting married this summer. They barely have 2 nickles to rub together to call their own, but they have to have the royal deluxe wedding, $85 a plate, full bar, etc.
We got married for $500 total, including dress, tux, rings, flowers, phot, cake, reception, food, etc... and had about 120 guests! Of course, that was 1982, but I am sure could be a LOT cheaper than $20K today!! Hey, I could be the Frugal Wedding Planner! LOL
DeFoe - that would be fantastic... not sure if/when I would be able to make them though! I had to go to Sears for work about 2 mos ago... I sure did look at the saw tables too!! Kept going back and looking in the 2-1/2 hrs it took to get the order straight that was being faxed from LA. Not on my "to get" list for near future, but boss is giving me OT, hmmmmm Would like tiller too... Darn DD needs 11 more fillings too, OOPS!
It had both a saw and a router attached. And I left that old router attached too. Kept the good one that he bought, LOL, nana nana boo boo! Have to make sure the little one never tells him, LOL Going to have to go through all those boxes in the shed and set up room for a workshop for ME, in my spare time! Have lots to buy though and cannot afford it!
Asked him at Christmas time if he ever used it and he said he couldn't, it needed some type of special plug. Yea, it needed the plugs from his computer, TV, DVD, VCR and webcam to be unplugged!
I suggest you check with your Community College or someone you know with equip and ask them to teach you to use it safely before buying your own equip. CC's usu have some reasonably priced basic woodworking and carpentry classes, which will familiarize you with the tools too.
Elaine, wish we had your great weather up here, could be out washing up pots too instead of seeing those horrible white fluffies flying around!
My riding was more like falling, at my aunts. Saddle slipped when I was about 8 with DSB on horse too... didn't ride anymore after that!
Well, 4:44 - better get off my duff and go get things done! Later! Big hi's to all!! Suzi :)
Happy to report a set of working toilets. Some very nice gentlemen came and cleared out all the lines for a song. We are so grateful.
Rob said last night that at least we weren't stuck in a football stadium with not even dirt to bury stuff in. The cat bucket did the job though and we are putting one down in the storm cellar in case we get stuck down there ever.
IMHO if someone steals your cattle or horses you should have the right to shoot them no questions asked. I have lots to say on our criminal justice system, but it's probably not allowed on daves so I'll leave that here.
Hitting any large critter with a snowmobile sounds like not much fun. Lucky to survive for sure.
Glad your DD is doing well Susan. Hope you are too.
Gosh, Miss Boots looks like my Dianket. So pretty.
Congrats on the mater seedlings. None of my wintersown stuff is up yet, though the Husky did have fun with a couple of the ziploc baggies. Don't know if any seeds survived him playing catch with the bags.
As to Huskys and the new movie, I am just worried about all the poor Huskys that will be bought because people think they are 'all that' without really finding out about the real dogs. So many ended up in pounds and shelters after Snow Dogs. That's how we got our Memnok. Huskies are high maintenance and need a lot of attention, especially as puppies. They are way worth it if you have the time to devote to them though. So loving.
Anyway, peace and joy to you all. I'm off to continue cleaning after the flood of '06

keyi~sigh of relief on the toilets...there are few few non-life threatening events IMHO that are more stressfull that backed up non working toilets!!
GG~That is quite a scare and thank God with all that damage Bill is okay! I don't care for snowmobiling, too fast and too cold for me, but now that I think about deer collisions i'll be doubly worried for my friends. People in the Adks tear around the woods all night. I guess I assumed the deer would hear them and stay away, but they're probably used to it, like the highways. Ugh, Now I just hate to think about it!! How easily he could have have terrible injuries!!
BR~If I can learn to ride I think anyone can...I guess it just depends on how much you want to, well that is given that you know a place where you might get lessons. . I was lucky to get put in the "hag" lesson, we called ourselves the hags on nags, laughed at ourselves, encouraged each other and it made the ups and downs a little easier. I've fallen twice and got back on and I'm the world's biggest chicken.I understood what I did wrong ....there seem to be a number of women who are finally getting that pony their parents would never get them, out there!
Mary~interesting milking the ewe! glad you got some nourishment for the other twin...You're probably a superb rider...experience is the main thing, lessons cut down on some of the mistakes I don't have time to learn from at this age. Right now I'm trying to learn to post without stirrups, ouch...that's gotta be the best thigh-master in the universe!! I can do 1 1/2 steps!! LOL about getting off a good horse. I DO think I'm past the age for cattle wrestling!
Elaine~Do you find that smells give you visual flashbacks? Sometimes I will smell something and it's as if my mother is there, or I'm in a particular childhood place. They bring back very vivid memories for me. The hyacinths are so perfumed. Gardenias are another one I like. My mother got me gardenia corsage for Easter when I was a kid.
Dcat~glad DMIL is doing better! And you're getting a break!! Sure looks like Miss Boots has mastered the art of relaxinG!!
sarv~hope you're feeling better. Think it was chewing on the napkin that did it, or did the behaviour at the wedding just turn you stomach...LOL. (well, if you can laugh about it)
Hi Everybody,
I've skimmed the messages. Don't feel qualified to comment without going over them again. maybe I'll get a chance to do that later or tomorrow.
Just reporting in briefly. When do you know you've had too many rehearsals? When I find myself counting bars to music on the radio - not just once but several times.
Rehearsals went quite well. Noon tomorrow is cancelled. Doesn't mean I don't need to put in some solid practice time though.
I went early to rehearsal. There is a huge underground parking garage under the National Arts Centre with a good car wash. For $2, I can get 4 minutes of real high pressure wash. And if I'm going to be there for 8 hours, there is lots of time for the car to dry off so not everything is frozen shut when I go outside. So I no longer have a salt encrusted car, but rather its bright scarlet can now be seen. And the extra time in the garage didn't result in extra parking fees because most of us have staff access cards which give us a daily flat rate for parking even if we go in and out several times.
The youth orchestra was with us for the second part of the first rehearsal and the first part of the second rehearsal. The Rimsky-Korsakov "Cappricio Espanol" sounds awesome with about 50 violins. Not so many violas - only 6 of the kids plus 11 of us.
Well, I put a tape in the VCR to catch the Olympic closing. I think I may go look at some of it.
Have a good evening everyone.
Ann
Hi all
Here it is pushing 11:00 and I'm just coming in here to see what's been going on this evening.
Ann, wish you had a sample of the violins. Bet they are awesome!! What I'd give to hear them. Oh, and $2 for a car wash? What a deal!!!
DMC, LOL LOL at the hags on nags. Tooo funny!! And yes, smells do give me visual flashbacks. I have a *very* sensitive smell. In fact, my DH calls me his little Bloodhound. Says I've been hanging around the dog toooo long. :)
keyi, so glad to hear you got your plumbing troubles resolved. Seems like that monster has visited quite a few of our coffee members lately.
BriarRose, please please don't let my DH hear you talking about table saws, etc. He has one picked out for his 50 from Sears. I think it's a man thing. LOL
M5 poor Mini is a sweetie to put up with Sammy's antics ... but I'm thinking she really likes it but just pretends he's a bore. Now Souky is a different story. She reminds me of my big sis ... always lookin down her nose. Shhhh, I didn't say that. LOL LOL I *love* my sis ... we're just diff as day and night. I
I pick out my own clothes, but then the DH describes them to me. I know by the style and colors whether or not I like it. Many things look better on the hanger than on me. LOL I'm so short, it's difficult to find things to suit me. That outfit was the one he bought me for V day. :)
Well, speak of the devil ... he just came in so I'll say bye and get up from here for now. Hope all has a good night's sleep.
Oh Mary ... forgot to say I'm glad everything went okay with the 2 new babies last night. I could just picture you down on your knees trying to fill that jar ... with that ewe caught against the side of the pen. I bet you were uncomfortable like that. No wonder she stomped her foot at you. LOL
Defoe, how was the pot luck? Hope y'all had a nice relaxing evening for a change.
Okay, I'm *really* off to bed this time. :)
... Elaine
Hi, didn't do much again today. Seems like I say that everytime it's Saturday and Sunday.
I was hurting all over and took some tylenol at 3 and slept for two hours. I did feel better after that, but I hate to waste my day asleep. LOL
I didn't even go out and enjoy the nice day with Strypurr and Cali. Shame on me. It is supposed to be 80 degrees by Wednesday., That's right 80!!! Ridiculous if you ask me. No rain, red flag warnings again. When oh when will this be over and we get some rain.
Kelly, I meant to also add my relief that Bill is OK. I bet you were really worried. Thank God for guardian angels. Hope your insurance takes care of the snowmobile, I know you don't need more expenses.
Be back in a minute with the daily for tomorrow.
Susan
=^..^=
Well, to catch up, spent about 1/2 hour just reading where I left off this afternoon.
101, So you gave up the sweeping, then tried pot washing? It was chilly here today, sunny but cool wind. So you did a roast tonight? Sounds good. The pot luck was good, so many different things. I have been to some that you had green beans, green beans, green beans, and some yukky casserole. So by those standards real good. Yeah, I bet you are going to bed. You are almost always here when I give it up. LOL.
Mary such a descriptive account of "milking the ewe". And I snorted my diet sunkist on the screen reading about jumping off a perfectly good horse, or jumping from a perfectly good airplane. If I jump from a plane, I certainly will leave scratch marks on the door, and scuff marks behind. No way Jose!
Meezer, My mother always says Be nice, or make nice! Why do mothers burden us with those things? Well, she knew I had a smart mouth. So I guess, she thought she could tame me. I was on a horse last spring, just celebrating the end of a 2 year illness. My granddaughter thought it was funny, me riding her horse. I am not tall enough to get on by myself, so that was a problem. Yes, I had places sore that I didn't even know I had.
BR, I will trace that pattern for you and send it. If I brought the tools, would you give me woodworking lessons? I am going to check out the CC and see if they offer anything like that.
Keyi, Hip Hip Hurray, working toilets. Now you can finish cleaning the mess and call it housecleaning if you want. Dianket, nice name. Miss Boots is 7 years old, has never been playful, even as a kitten. She is too "high falutin" to lower herself to cat antics. She has relaxing down to a minute science. She is part persian, and this time of year sheds a lot. So she gets a brushing once a day, and craves more time in my lap. She and Mr. B (Jack Russell Terrier) vie for that. When he is inside, there is no way he will let her be in my lap. It's like he says to her, "she's my mommy, and I'm not sharing". Yeah, about the Huskies, just like the Dalmations after 101 Dalmations.
Vann, glad the rehearsals went well, and you got a cheap car wash to boot. I hate when the car needs washing, you find a car wash, get the salt off, and have ice in it's place.
Well, we had a nice pot luck. DH was late getting there, because just as he was about to leave the Rehab Hospital, DMIL had a "smothering attack". The Dr. has said that he believes that they are anxiety attacks. I believe she gets scared when she knows that she is going to be alone. The symptoms of the anxiety attacks, and the symptoms of fluid gathering on her lungs are very similar. So DH stayed with her, and the nurses gave her Xanax and a pain med. So she was better after that. They will do xrays tomorrow to rule out the presence of fluid again. Oh, I really hope that it is not fluid again. Don't think she can take much more treatment for that again.
Well, my calendar says that I have Monday and Tuesday free this week. So I guess the vacuum gets a work out tomorrow, and maybe just maybe, I will get to do some garden stuff on Tuesday. Not actually in the garden, but getting things ready. I have some seedlings that are up, and others just started the last 2-3 days.
Well, I am off to check other forums, so if I don't get back, goodnight all.
The daily is up for tomorrow at
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/579181/
Hope everyone has a peaceful and restful night.
Susan
