I may be dead when you read this

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

My IM to my husband a little while ago

Kel: tommmmmmmmmmm
Kel: help
Kel: come right home
tom: WHAT''S UP
Kel: I burst the pipe again
tom: THE ONE OUT FRONT?
Kel: yes
tom: HOW THE ---- DID YOU DO THAT?
Kel: i did it with the shovel
tom: CALL A PLUMBER
Kel: i can't shut off water
tom: I'M ON MY WAY CALL THE PLUMBER NOW
tom signed off at 5:09 P.M.

It is so hard being me sometimes. So the water is gushing out now. And in an emergency, I post on Dave's.

Nothing to do but wait.

The plumber is coming in a hour and Tom is going to just kill me dead when he gets here. This happened in the same place last Sunday morning from digging in same place. Plumber charged $350.

It is gushing out, see the bubbling place. Everything is flooded.

Tom is home. He is trying to shut off the water. He is mad. He is not talking to me. I tried to talk to him. He said SHHHHHHHHHHHH and he didn't have to tell me twice.

See the new plant there, that is a tree crape myrtle. I put that in and saw I had more room so I thought, gee I will plant a few low roses and put in 1 new brug seedling too. And then suddenly the water shot up and got me soaking.

Oh Kell
Oh Kell
Dear Kell.....
So sorry to hear your at it again!!!
Gosh we have had pipes bursting here right and left with out any help from you. (cold weather)
I hope Tom starts talking to you soon.

Corte Madera, CA

you really wanted a fountain don't you?

we all know tom loves you. you'll be ok.

=)

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

Oh Kell... Bless your heart. Sometimes a bit o' silence is not altogether a bad thing, ya know ;)

B

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

Quick Kell...get some cement. You can have a pond. LOL

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Well if it wasn't so bad it would be funny. I can imagine the feeling he had and it had to be bad on you having to call him and tell him.

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Oh kell I feel for you as I've done that too. I put rocks along my bare area to prevent me from digging there any more. My DH siad if I did it again it was coming outa my Christmas...so I rocked it over =o)) Lauri

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Do you believe it? How stupid can one person be???

The plumber just left. He did not instill confidence. He didn't even have the thingie to turn the water off. He had to use a wrench. No nam eon his truck either. I asked if he was a real one, he said he works under the company's license. I took that as a no. He doesn't speak English well so it was hard to communicate. I would have passed but Tom was glaring at me. He thinks I am too tough.

The cement box around the meter had to come out again. This time I am going to plant bulbs around it before we fill it in with dirt when we put it back in.

We have no water now till the morning when he comes back. $280 this time. I wonder if I got a frequent breaker discount.

Tom is still not talking to me but he did tell me to shut up my hoophouse for it was going to get real cold tonight. Normally he would do it for me, but I still took that as a hopeful sign. I know he will tell our kid about what Mom did now with much disdain. I cringe at the thought, I can just hear him. I best not complain when he does it.

He is a forgiving man. He has to be being married to me for 30 years. When he wants his shower in the morning, I will slink out and make myself scarce. LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Lauri, I am glad there is another one of me. LOL. But did you do it twice, 8 days apart? I still can't believe i did it again.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

KELL! Not again.................Whoa.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Oh Kell, I can't even top that one. I'm thinking about digging a pond, but the line from the propane tank to the swimming pool heater is in that area somewhere. I think I'd better find another spot for my pond after reading your experiences!
If you need to escape fast, there are several airlines that fly into Harlingen and Brownsville!

Lizella, GA(Zone 8a)

Oh no,, Kell, guess you helped us remember not to dig too much around the meter.. well, unless it is on the county side :))) -- now let me think,, where is that long water turn-off wrench anyway??? Hugs, Elaine

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Elaine, I am going to go buy one of those turn off things the next time I am at HD. Then I will be assured of never having to need it again!!

Are you shaking your head, Gloria?? LOL. You know I have gone down hill since i started growing brugs in huge numbers, I wonder if I have inhaled a bit too much pollen.

I was just about to email you, Susie. I am beyond blonde. And I keep thinking of all the plants I could have bought for that money. Kills me.

So tell me, if you hit the gas line, should you just run for your life? Can it kill you?

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Kell, these are my thoughts! If the gas line doesn't kill you, then Tom will!!!! LOLOLOL

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

Aw Kell.. stick with the water lines, gal... PLEASE!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I think it would hurt really really bad to hit the gas line. I have decided to put the pond on the other side, the only thing over there is the sprinkler line which would be bad, but not deadly.
I know Kell, next time you dig and DON"T hit a waterline, go to the nursery and spend $350 dollars on pots and container plants. Tell Tom it's insurance, no digging involved!

bronson, IA(Zone 4a)

Sounds like you havent very good luck lately--things will change.. When I was digging up plants at my friends house I hit there sprinkler line and there tv cable line--her husband came out and told me--thank God he is a very nice guy---stuff happens --doesnt it!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Great idea, Susie. I will go to the nursery tomorrow. Not!!

Oh Cheryl, that would be worse. LOL. But you would never catch me digging at someone else's house. And until now, you would never catch me digging at my house either.

You know I just realized this is all Tom's fault. He always dug my holes and dug out my trees. For years!!! Then a few weeks ago he told me he was done for life. No more. Retired. Hanging up his shovel. That is why I had those men here digging the trees out and that is why I was digging that hole today.

But I think I will wait awhile before I tell let him know it is all his fault. LOL

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Hey Kell...you could hire your self out as a water witch!!!!

Sorry, friend...I know it's funny and itsnot!!!

Carol

Emporia, KS(Zone 5b)

So sorry, Kell. Glad you got the frequent breaker discount, though! ; ) Think of all the plants you can get with all that money you just saved!!

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Kell, it's good to know I'm not the only nut with a shovel though I haven't tried a water line yet. I was planting rose bushes when I cut our cable line. All my husband said was, "That takes care of cable TV."
Veronica

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

When I get over the money part, I willl laugh, Carol. Tom still hasn't said anything about it at all, though he is talking to me. Maybe he won't ever mention it. Oh right. LOL He did kiss me goodnight!

I am so glad I am not alone! I could go for the cable next. LOL
Cjolene, I am going to be plant broke for awhile. I won't dare buy any.

Oh, I was just kidding. ; )

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

Kell,
I am so sorry that I am sitting here laughing!! It really does sound like something I would do, but thank goodness, it also sounds like something DH would do (he's the one who has split the telephone line twice!). I think we need to call the gas company to find out exactly where that line is, plus electric, plus water LOL :-)
Sharon

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Cutting a gas line is MY M.O.! It won't kill you if you don't light a cigarette near it and the gas company will fix it for free. I don't know if they will fix it TWICE in eight days for free - I didn't try that one!

At his request, now hubby does ALL the digging, so if something gets 'cut', he can't yell at me! LOL USE those husbands, girls - that's what they are for - to assist helpless damsels!

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

So sorry Kell.... Our neighbor did it with a backhoe last summer. just after dark one day. He dug the Main Water line up and took out a big chunk of pipe. I didn't see it, but they say water was spraying about 20 feet in the air. People for a couple of miles were out of water for most of the night. The city water dept. had to come out with men, trucks and big backhoes to replace about 10 feet of the main water line that ran across his front yard. I would hate to have seen his bill. LOL He was a new neighbor and this is how he met most of his new neighbors. See it could be worse. LOL

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Oh no, Kell! I think your name is mud! Is Tom speaking to you yet???

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

*shaking head*

Kell, you are cursed, lol.

Tom, buy Kell this, it's cheaper than the plumbers.

Kell . when you get the tool to turn off water get one for gas line also . I leave mine by the gas meter . My neigbor across street and next door have both borrowed it .

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Oh kell I have you beat. I did mine 6 days apart ,the weeds did'nt even have time to sprout. That will teach Tom to hang up his shovel maybe he can be talked into bringing it outa retirement....just go semi retired =o))... Lauri

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Great idea Tony. I will definitely do it!!!! Thank you.

Sharon, I wish my DH would do something stupid once in a while. It is hard being the only turkey in the house.

Oh Kay, my husband has done the digging for 30 years, he just recently quit on me and it has been just one mess after another. I am hoping he will reconsider.

Betty, my DH would never ever let me on a backhoe. LOL. His house would be gone. Did your new neighbor turn out to be a good one after all that?

Shirley and Gayle, you are making me laugh!! Shirley, do you believe he said nothing to me about the mishap this morning. So not one word yet about it. Just gave me a check to pay the man and a kiss good bye.

I am waiting for the so called plumber now. He was supposed to be here by 8. He promised. At least now the whole thing will be dug up again and I will be able to get in all my plants. LOL!!!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Kell I think it is Toms fault. After all he has helped all these years.

When you are sitting at dinner, just say oh my I forgot I had to dig a hole for the (what ever the plant it) and I bet very quickly as he is running for the door, where is you want that hole dug.
Or you could say oh by the way do you think we can afford another 350 dollar whole this week? I need to dig a hole. ROTHLOL

This would make a great april fools. Call and tell him you hit the water line again. Then April Fools. Do you think he will laugh? I really don't think he would find it too funny.

Oh my Kell, sorry you were in trouble. Sounds like me. I seem to meet trouble head on.

Blessings,
Sandy ^8^

*snicker*

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Sandy, I'm afraid if she pulled that trick on Tom for April's Fool, she would not get to plant another flower ever again.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Lauri you are me! LOL. If my DH ever brings this up (I sure won't), I will tell him about you. 6 days, LOL!!!

Ever since I turned 50 and became hormone challenged, I catch him looking at me in a weird way as I do ditsy things I never used to do. Like he is sizing me up for the funny farm. LOL. My most common activity is wandering around lost trying to remember what I was looking for. I tell him I am the best I am ever going to be that minute, so he best get used to it.

Do you notice no men post about the dingy things they do?? They must do some, don't you think??

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Kell, Bill called me at work one day..........he asked where the band aids were. I KNEW if he needed a bandaid, it was bad. I asked to speak to his helper(my brother, like the blind leading the blind, lol). I said "what has he done?" and he said "oh, he had a little accident, he dropped the rear end casing from the 2 ton work truck on his finger. I think he cut it off." A "little" accident??? A bandaid will fix it??? Geez!

Then there was the time he was mowing and ran over the main waterline to the house. Houses are on slabs here, we are not supposed to have freezing temps, so the main line just sort of sticks up at the edge of the house and goes into the wall. He ran into it with the lawnmower deck, cracked the pipe.......mr fix it thought he could fix it.........we didn't have water for two days! Had to call a plumber. There was also the time he was replacing the hot water heater.........we won't even go there. I will mention the wall had to be fixed.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Kell are you familiar with walk-out ranch style houses? That's where from the front it looks like a one story, but from the back it looks like a two story.

Anyway...the guy that lives next door to my dad likes to fix cars in his spare time. After messing around with the transmission, the linkage slipped and reverse was no longer reverse. The car went thru the back of the garage, and because this was a walk out ranch it actually went out the second floor. The picture I have somewhere is of the guy sticking is head out the hole in the garage wall, looking down at the car flipped upside down in his backyard. Boy, did his buddies give him grief. His wife wasn't too thrilled with him either, lol.

LOL Sandy! I may try that! Though I do not want to give him a heart attack. And Susie may be right, he may just kill me right there.

Oh Susie, that sounds like it hurt. So far I have not maimed myself. Knock on wood. Are you sure that was not Bleu driving that lawn mower? LOL

MG, I will tell Tom he has something to look forward to! LOL. I could easily run right thru our garage!

I just sweet talked the plumber into digging me a hole for my rose and brug. LOL

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Kell, he tried to frame Bleu for it, but I didn't believe him.
There is a house down here where the husband made their garage a "pull thru" because his wife kept backing over things! It has doors on front and back so she pulls in one side and drives out the other.
