Where has everybody been from 6pm on? Was/is there something going on that I missed. I thought when I came back here there would be a cajillion posts, NOT.
Since DH has not come home from the hospital, I have had an evening where I have done some paper work, and have worked on my lists for tomato seeds I have. A neighbor wants to try some heirlooms this year, and I have spent several hours going through mine, and trying to package some to give her.
Haven't heard from DH since about 7:30, so at this time of night, I am assuming that he is spending the night at the hospital.
I have been over to the "new forums" and roamed around there. I have gotten some good information, and posted several requests for things. One thing I am looking for is a green pepper jelly recipe. If anyone has it I sure would love to have it.
Well, I am going to call it a night, as last night was too short. I do have a 10:00 appointment in the morning, so it is a day with a "to do list". I don't have many where my calendar says I am free. Don't have anything else on the calendar until Saturday, and I am looking forward to that. A pot luck at a neighbor's house, and general conversation, that we seem to be so busy that we can't accomplish otherwise. There are 5 couples that do this from time to time, and I enjoy it immensely.
Well, off to meet Mr. Sandman, and soon I hope. Everybody have a good night, and I will check in first thing in the morning.
Good morning Defoecat. I dont have a recipe for greenpepper jelly but I have one for jalapeno jelly. I think that it is the same principles as greenpepper jelly. if you are interested let me know. I do make quite a few jellies that I give as presents for the holidays .Recently I made ginger preserve and when the roses bloomI will be making rose petal jelly. One of my favorite.
I have to transplant my currants, but first I have to make a place for them in the yard . Where they are now it is not good they get white pine blight so they dont produce hardly at all , I miss the black and red currant preserve...
So much to do so little time is mantra that we all say at one time or another. It is supposed to be beautiful again today , but if it is as cold and as windy as it was yesterday I will not be out.
My flowering quince and my witch hazel are going crazy they think that it is spring. the snow drops are blooming away. I hope that we wont have a freeze like last year when I lost all the flowers on my flowering quince.....
Well it is early and I need to get on with the house so I can finish some other projects. I rather be in the garden than clean house, but housekeeping has to be done too.....does not stop the fact that I dont like it much.... Well everybody have a nice day ,Hello gardengeek....
Good Morning - yogurt for breakfast again....pizza later LOL
Woke up and it was cold in the house - 60 deg. DH said he forgot to put wood in the woodstove - now tell me how can you do that??? Sometimes I wonder about him...
MIL called me last night- she got the wrong beans - got the ones that weren't on sale. I told her I wasn't going back to the store - grr something like that always happens....with gas so high, it isn't worth it for me to go back to the store and since she never offers a dime for gas, she can just eat her pricey beans!!
Defoe - I've given up on getting DH fixed - his plumbing doesn't work so hot anyhow LOL LOL
Today I need to attack the bedding (never got it done yesterday...), go to the library, the bank, and garden store. Hmm, I don't think I'm going to have time for the bedding today either!!
I planted some of my seeds I got from Pinetree - wave petunias, begonias, more lupines. Pinetree sure doesn't send many seeds!!! But that is ok, I always over plant anyhow and end up giving away or pitching many . Hope I have good germination rates!!
Well, my head is pounding for some reason - think I'll take one aspirin and see if I can nip it in the bud.
Defoecat I envy you .. you can plant lupines , they dont do well her and I love them . here it is too early to plant anything 20 degres last night , 40 yesterday... nad it was 67 last friday imagine....
Good morning all,
Read all of yesterday but didn't post. Spent much of the day looking up Hostas from another source and trying to decide which ones I must have. Several of us are talking of combining an order to one local business in order to qualify for a discount. I'm not there yet, but have eliminated many choices. Now to get the YES's down to a manageable number.
Also spent 3 hours at the FC. I had told successor that I would do the month end stats on a volunteer basis for a few months. But first I had to bail him out on a few things he did wrong while I was away last week. All with the tape recorder running while I talked through the various steps. He'll get it eventually, I think.
Better get breakfast and prepare for aquafit.
Hope you all have a good day.
Ann
Hi Maria. I am another that doesn't "do" computer stuff easily. I have AOL and they are always knocking me offline when they load new material.
Sooooo, now I write any long posts in my e-mail and put it in the "send later" file. Then, when I'm ready, I just pull it up and copy it over to the DG message box. You can't imagine how long it took me to figure this out! LOL
Hi EVERYBODY! (waving as I fade away into all the new forums)
Pati
Good Morning Sarv and Orchid and everyone posting after me.
Thank you Vermerr, will try do do that.
Don.t remember most of the things I said yesterday when it went poof into space. I told you, Sarv to get a new Conputer, can you just imagine being without one? so ride your pony to the store, lol
Yes, Carol, how is your son?
I am seriously thinking of having Samson nfixed so he willl come down a bit, I have been working with him a lot and is fine with me but I do worry the way he acts with other people and also as you said there are other dogs around
Orchid , I love ginger jam, or anything with ginger, rose petals sounds interresting, never had it, tell me how you make it, if you don't mind
Had loads of email last night and this morning, some of it just junk, makes me cross to litter up my mail, some are very offensive though msn puts most of them into junk mail or ask me.
My daughter invited me to a garden lecture tonight, looking forward to it it is called "Native Plant Gardening" sounds interesting
Have to go now, cleaning Samson's mess, lol
Well, I have a meeting this morning, then will do some errands before returning home. DH is still at the hospital, spent the night. My twin sister is coming tonight, to spend the night, and we will work again at DM's tomorrow. So I will have to think of something to fix to eat tonight.
When I get back, I will check in to see what's been going on.
OF, I would love the jalepano recipe. It's probably the same, just using different peppers.
Well I am off. TTYL.
Morning ...
Ugg It's too early for me. Had to get up at 6 this morning. I'm not a morning person, so I'm still sleepy. Came home and made a fresh pot of coffee and am trying to convince myself not to go back to bed. LOL I'm going to go strip it and put the sheets in the wash ... that will keep me honest. :)
Defoe, hope your MIL is better today.
Sarv, sorry about the shopping excursion with your MIL. You are just tooooo funny. Got a good chuckle out of the plumbing thing. LOL LOL Hey, you want me to throw your sheets in with mine? One more set won't hurt.
Orcad, I've never heard of rose pedal jelly. That sounds very fascinating. Please share how you do it and what it's good with.
Hi Maria. How is your back today? Oh, and how did your steak turn out? *smile*
Well, if I'm going to strip the bed and get anything accomplished ... guess I'd better get up from here. I'm waving to all those I've not mentioned by name.
... Elaine
Steak was perfect, Elaine, going to have the rest for lunch, yum
back is fine at the moment, just finished vacuuming, carpets were simply white from his fuzz, could hardly see the pattern because I did not do it yesterday, shame on me
cold out there but sun is shining
Defoe, hope MIL is OK ans so is DH, how tiring it must be for him
Ooooh Maria ... wish you were closer ... I'd let you vac mine. LOL ;) Ah, left over steak that's a perfect lunch!
Carol, please pop in and give us an up date on your DS when you can.
DMC, did you get your glasses fixed? Sure hope so. That can be such an aggravation.
Okay, sheets are in the wash, bathrooms are clean and I've got gr. beef out for spaghetti. It's getting *cold* in GA. LOL
... Elaine
Morning GOBs...got a late start today. Woke up about 1 am with a headache, and slept until 7. With three cats breathing in my face. We have reached detente' at least as far as the bed is concerned. Not much planned for the day, except lunch with a couple of old friends at a cheesy chinese restaurant. Not very good food but I didn't get to pick. Oh well...LOL...I dont have to cook it.
Sunshine for the moment but maybe some snow later. It's pretty cold.
DH put that strippable caulk around the sliders to the deck but I can still feel cold air coming in. Picked up one of those kits with the plastic and going to cover the whole thing. I hate the way that looks but I'll be darned if I'll heat the whole neighborhood. Sammi will probably destroy it.
Maria the steak sounded good, we had new york strips last night but they weren't great. Usually meat from that market is excellent but these aren't so nice. Are you brushing Samson? It would cut down on some of the excess hair, but they do shed a lot. DD has worn out several vacuum cleaners with her houseful of goldens, but likes the Dyson Animal vac she got. I bought one too, and so did DIL. They are great for animal hair, it's astonishing how much they pick up. They run about $400 but as DD said, that's cheaper than replacing the vac every two years.
Dcat, hope your MIL is doing well. You have a great family, everyone seems to help a lot. Hope your day is a good one.
Sarv, when I used to take my birth mother shopping it just drove me nuts. She didn't make a list and we'd end up walking all over the store several times back and forth v e r y s l o w l y and even though I told her I could zip down the aisle and get what she needed she had to do it herself, and look over all the choices. I was still working and always felt pressured for time. Several times we'd get it all out to the car,or home, and she'd remember something else she needed and want to go back. I just refused, and said you'll have to do without or ask one of the other apartment residents to pick it up for you. My sister and brother were unavailable for this kind of duty, but he was always able to come into town for business and sleep on her sofa, but not have time to help her. I kept rubber gloves and detergents in my car so I could clean up her kitchen which was always a disgusting mess as she would leave her dishes soaking in the sink. Ugh.
Suzie, good luck with your MIL moving, my ex's actually lived with us for three years. What a drag! That was another of my truly bad decisions, to let her come with us. My SIL was trying to avoid that with my current MIL, and called me to ask what I thought of it. I told her. No privacy. No departure date in sight. No appreciation. Her DH was all for it, but he travels a lot for his job, so no burden for him. I told her, that woman has four daughters of her own, let them do it. MIL used to call her when she ran out of cigarettes, and ask her to go get them, but never pay her for them! Plus SIL had to drive a long way to deliver them!
Who would want someone that inconsiderate living with them? I have a long list of stupid things that woman has done which keeps my radar set on high in any situation where she is involved. I'm not either tolerant or patient at my age with people who have offended me as she has.
Waving bye-bye at everyone, I have to get myself off this chair and do something useful! Elaine, want to throw my sheets in too? Wait til I throw the cats off the bed though....
Later dudes
Sheila
Sheila, I brush him every day , I am afraid he going to be bald pretty soon, lol just kidding but it is so much from underneath his long hais, wonder if that is baby fuzz? I bought all sorts of brushes and combs, but it seems I don't get all of it. I have a n Orek, it is veery powerful, and very wxpensive, had it for many years and still going strong.
The beef steak were two small tenderloins, just wonderful I always buy that cut knowing it will be good and hardly any fat on it, it is very expensive but it is only for me and will go for two meals, I like it med. rare YUM
Sheesh, Elaine, can hardly manage mine lol, I will call you soon again was so nice of you to call me yesteerday, so much fun at a big surprise, love surprises.
You're forgiven, Meezer. We all understand and we all need to vent sometimes. It's better than throwing things, oh, Maria can throw things..... for Samson. Other good outlets for frustration are mopping floors, washing windows, vacuuming, and, in the right season, pulling weeds, and the results look good too.
I was over on the new forum about getting organized (don't remember the name now but the thread I was reading has Chaos in the title. Lots of good stuff there, and just reading about others' success to declutter and organize their homes is an inspiration. Now I just need to spring into action!
No word from Carol on what her son's problem may be....... wondering, praying it is something simple.
Today is my going to town day. I'm gonna get an early start so maybe I will have time to go riding this afternoon. Of course when I had more time yesterday the wind was blowing, today looks much better. See you later, count your blessings.
Messersfive It is not surprising most women have headaches at bedtime.
Oh Maria, that first picture just shows love flowing all over you! The second picture carries out my theory.......even a push is better than no attention! LOL
Pati
MARIA That is what is called a spoiled dog. I cannot imagine how that would happen??? Can you??
Very funny, OZ, I don't remember having hradaches at bedtime, lol and yes my Samson is very spoiled, he is allowed most anything except he has to sleep in his own bed, not in mine.
Pati, the picture looks as if I pushed him I just held out my hand, he knows that means stop
Good boy to know when to stop! But how can you resist that face peeking around the hand. LOL
Pati
Usually I use both hands, as the trainer taught me and it does really work, but I had camera in other hand so I could show you what a pest he can be, and yes, I cannot refuse him, those eyes get me all the time but I do have another life, lol
Maria, sure wish I could get my hands on Samson! He's soooo sweet. Well, tell him to let you watch tv. LOL
Now OZ ... why in the world would you say such a thing? LOL LOL
Hi M5 go ahead ... send the sheets on over. I'm feeling generous today. After all, Maria is vacuuming for me. LOL Glad to see things are still going good with Sammy. :)
Mary, have fun in town today. Don't spend too much $$.
... Elaine
Darius sent me an email with an excerpt from the molvie "Saturday Night Fever" and asked me to teach Samson that. I think she is funny, imagine me doing that? LOL I am just crazy enough to try. I have never seen the movie,. since I don't much go for that type of music but this was fun to watch that Golden, making me even more glad I have one
GM Daaaahlings!
My goodness everyone is so chatty this morning. I'm finally out of the rack and vertical. I really slept in this morning. I suppose I needed it. It's very unlike me to sleep in past 0530.
I'm so enjoying getting back to reading the threads. It's been awhile since I've been able to do that on a regular basis, so maybe now I can start catching up with folks and enjoying what each person has to say. It's like being able to visit over the fence. Everyone here is so interesting and I very much enjoy feeling like I've talked with family members after I've read the thread.
I'm actually off to the salon today. I get my hair cut every 6 weeks or so. Actually trimmed is more the correct way of putting it. I have hair down just past the bra strap level and I have to keep the split ends trimmed off as well as the bangs cut. I can't abide them sticking into my eyes and I need them out of my way for work. I generally just braid or put my hair up on my head for work. My stylist is very nice, she always does some sort of FANCY braid or up do for me when I see her. She says it keeps her in practice since most women these days don't have long hair.
Well, I'm sorry for the Seahawks loss. I didn't really see the game, just heard patients talking about it in the ER. I did manage to get back to the staff lounge one time for about 5 minutes and see a couple of plays, but that was in the very beginning. I was very glad to see the fans greet them so well on their return. I'm sure they needed the boost after the loss, but hopefully this will make them work just as hard or harder next year to maybe get a return shot at the championship.
It's time for me to get into the shower and ready for my appointment. I hope everyone is well and enjoying their day. We've actually a bit of sun here today. It's partly cloudy, but so far no rain, so I'm happy.
With care,
~Babs~
Hi, Babs, most of my life my hair has been long and always in a twist, so easy.....I am sorry too the seahawks lost, a very unfair game from what I have read since I did not watch it, can't stand the steelers anyway, they are the pits, lol perhaps that is where they belong, lol or perhaps the umpires?
Hi Everybody! Hope everyone is having a great day.
Babs - So good to see you back at the table.
Maria - that Sampson is just too cute. I'm so glad you have each other.
Defoe - Hope MIL is doing OK, let us know.
Has anyone heard from Carol? I've been thinking about her son and wondered if anyone had news.
M5 - If MIL even thought about coming to live with us....... It's just such a horrible thought, I don't really know what I would do. Don't worry about "dumping" your troubles here. Were here to listen and commisserate. Sammy is just too cute. Shared his pic with coworker and she fell in love.
To everyone I didn't mention, have a great afternoon!
Well, I just *love* my puter. If I ever need any info on anything ... all I have to do is just go to google and I can certainly find it. You know ... it's sort of like Radio Shack ... I've got questions ... Google's got answers. But ... you sho better be careful now yes you have! LOL LOL I just wanted a little info on honey suckle. You know ... wanted to find some candles and lotions, etc. Hmmm, look what *I* found. hehehe Don't guess I'm breaking any rules. Just thought this was funny. LOL LOL
Welcome To The Honeysuckle Shop - Chicago's Upscale Sex Shop
Yep, you sure gotta be careful what you search for!
... Elaine
Okay, let's see, 101 is doing our laundry, Maria is vacuuming, well, I feel generous, I'll cook tonight, chicken stir fry all right, salad and garlic bread? It will be ready about 5:30.
DMIL is having fluid drawn off her lungs again today. She seems to be doing better, Dr. says maybe she can come home Thursday or Friday. She has really been through a lot. Hope that this gets her on the road to recovery. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
101 sounds like you have been busy today.
Maria, I brush Mr. B everyday, but still have dog hair in the carpets. Samson is so funny, loved your pictures.
Meezer, LOL Cheesy Chinese!! I put that plastic around my DM's windows, and it has helped. I don't know about how Sammi would handle it, why don't you try to put several layers at the bottom, where he can reach. Oh the shopping with someone. Frankly, I would rather them just give me a list and let me shop for them. Takes so much longer with them along. Hey vent all you want here. I love my DM and DMIL, but I don't think I would want either of them living with me. Too stressful.
Mary, another good activity to do when mad, is kneading bread, just pound the cr** out of it!! Hope you have a good day in town today.
Oz, why in the world would you say anything about headaches?
Patischell, Hi!! Glad to see you here again.
Babs, Hi!! Glad you are back on a more regular schedule and able to check in again. I miss you when you are not here. Oh, I need a trim too, wish I could send it with you.
Sarv, plumbing problems, seem to be a perpetual male thing. LOL
Well, I did some errands, after my meeting, and was home by about 12:00. It is sunny here today, but still very cold. They are predicting colder weather all this week and for the weekend.
Mr. B. had his first "date" today. Acted real tired when he got home. LOL. His is not my little boy now, but a real man.
D twin S, is on her way to my house now. We are putting up border in DM's living room and bed room tomorrow. After this, we are having new carpet put down, but will wait until a little later in the spring. Then her house cleaning is done. I need to start thinking about doing mine. I am painting my kitchen, and putting up wallpaper behind the stove, and border all around this year. That is the only major thing. The rest is just general cleaning.
Well, guess, I will head to the kitchen to start some prep for our meal. I will check in later.
101, once I googled White House, and it was a porn site. Sometimes you just have to close your eyes!!
Whooo back from lunch and overstuffed, but it was delicious. That's what I get for taking the word of my one friend who is the most unadventurous diner I ever knew. When she had her brain surgery, she spent two weeks at my house, recuperating, and one night she looked down at her plate and said "I've never had these kinds of beans!" Baked beans right out of a can! LOL She told me this restaurant didn't have good food. I had some noodle and vege. soup, a tasty egg roll, and spicy mooshu pork, egg foo yong, a couple of chicken wings, and a slice of melon. NO wonder I'm stuffed!
Maria, that fine fuzzy stuff is Samson's undercoat. I'll ask my DD what to use for brushing that out because I think there is a special brush or comb for it. Regular ones just go through the long top coat and don't touch the fine undercoat. I'll let you know what she says. I thought somebody here was a groomer??? Maybe it's someone in the Huck and Souky thread in Pets.
Oz, I can see why your wife has a headache. Now be careful what you say here, we have a 2X4 and we know how to use it.
DH and his pal were complaining about the officiating at the Super Bowl too. I didn't watch it, I'm allergic to football. LOL Seems like all the professional games are just about money now, not sports.
DMC, don't they have any of those cheap eyeglass places near you, you know two pair for $90 on special? You don't even need to have an eye exam, just take your old ones in and tell them you want the same thing and pick up a couple of spares. They can duplicate the correction. If you have bifocals there might be an extra charge but it's worth checking out. I keep spares everywhere. In my car, in my purse, on my desk, on my computer desk, in the bedroom....if I can't find something I can't blame it on not having my glasses handy! I have to admit, one pair has lenses as big as soup can tops, because they are so old, but I don't go anywhere with them on!!
Vann, let's hope the tape recording gets your replacement over the learning hump....was he listening or taking notes at all when you were there? Maybe he thought someone else would be able to do it for him, under the new management theory of not knowing squat, but ruling over those who do. I'd sure be inclined to let him suffer a bit. But then I'm not tender hearted like you !!
Nice to know you have a hairdresser that stays put, Babs! I lose about one a year, they get a new job too far away, or decide on a different career, or retire, hmmmmm..........maybe it's ME! I agree this is like family, I made a comment to DH about someone here the other day and he said Who? and I said, I forgot he didn't know all of you like i do. This is a whole lot better than family, we didn't come in with any baggage! If I miss a day, I feel something is missing from my life.
Dcat, how is your MIL today? Do you think they will make her stay for a while or send her home? And has anyone heard from Carol about her son?
Sammi is being angelic (for the moment) He was beating the snot out of Mini this morning, prior to a much needed snooze, being so hyper he was literally bouncing off the walls so I got the spritzer and gave him a behaviour lesson. Now he's being sweet. Just like kids. Now he runs if I pick up the bottle....he knows what's coming. He's not too young to learn what is allowed and what is not.
Better get myself moving, I've gotten zip done today except for making the bed. Hi to 'lainey and McCool and GG and everybody else...
Thanks for excusing my rant....I got on a roll!
Later
Sheila
Yeah, I'll do that! Oh, and thanks for cooking! LOL I *do* love this chore swap. Figured I'd get a ral out of Maria about the vacuuming ... but think she ignored me. :) hehehe
Well, the DH is getting off a bit early and taking me to the cleaners to have a pants suit altered, so I'll go feed the baby. Will drop back in later.
... Elaine
Hmmm let's see - someone is doing my laundry, cleaning my house and making chicken for dinner!! What a nice bunch you all are! I went shopping since I had nothing to do myself!!
While cleaning out the trunk in preparation for bags of soil, I found a Christmas gift that I forgot to return!! Yikes, went to Best Buy and since it was over 30 days they would only give me store credit. I didn't feel like arguing (I had the receipt too), so I just bought the new Barry Mantilo CD - there's only one song I love= what a waste of $$
Next stop was Hobby Lobby for a paper punch for scrapbooking. Then onto Fruit Basket Flowerland for 12 bags of potting soil, some seeds, two more punches, and two lids for my seed trays. Managed to spend quite a bit!! Got a male to carry the bags for me- didn't want to have the arm flare up!!
Then I went out to lunch with a friend and then onto a scrapbooking store...All in all a pleasant day!!
Maria, I do need a new computer, but won't get one until this one croaks. This one is slow with little memory, but just can't see getting a new one while this one works - I am Dutch ya know!! That Samson has you wrapped around his little paw!! What a card...
Sheets are done in the washer, need to toss them in the dryer - I just hate remaking the bed.....
DH came home from work swearing about his stupid brother. Won't get his fanny to work until noon and then doesn't do any work - just runs his mouth. Each day I have to listen to DH vent about how worthless he is - I don't want to hear it, but I feel bad for him -so I listen. I just wish he would get a different job!!! He just won't even look, but it is wearing real thin listening to his gripe daily....
Stupid cat just jumped up and clawed my coat and left a hole in it. Grrrr - can I use the 2x4 on a cat??? Those claws really do neet snipping.
Defoe- if Mr B is a real male, he will roll over and fall asleep and snore LOL LOL They're all the same aren't they!!
I would never have my mom or MIL live with us - just couldn't do it. I love my mom dearly, but there are times when I shout and hollar just to clear the air!! That would just about send me over the edge....
Maria - I use a dog 'rake' on Suzzie. We used to have lots of problems getting all the extra off her, especially in Spring. The 'rake' seems to really work. Lots less hair floating around now.
Jody
Just a little clarification for Maria... the clip I sent wasn't from the actual John Travolta movie, but from a dog show where the woman used the same music and moves with her golden retriever for special entertainment.
Had a great day today... went with Molly shopping for pond plants and fish! Too wet and cool to do anything else, and it was fun. : )
If you are going to buy a water lily, do it during the dormant season, it cost about half the price.
We got some great stuff today, including fish. She had some adorable koi, but I backed off on that because they need more water movement than I have to give right now. She gave me a whole bag of anacris and hornwort since they were not at their prettiest. I needed them for oxygenating the pond. Very nice lady and very knowledgeable. Ack! I forgot to buy fish food. duh!. Good news is, if they are hungry, they will eat the plants.
Think I'll try chat tonight, if it's working.
Molly
:^)))
Meeze, did your dh caulk BOTH the inside and the outside of your slider? Cold air can creep inside through the walls if not.
Happy Birthday Suzieq!
I'm heading to chat now, lol.
mg
Just the inside but he didn't do a very good job...there were still small gaps. I put up the plastic today and that has done the job nicely although it looks pretty tacky! Oh well, spring is coming. I'm thinking of taking out the slider altogether, and putting a single door with lights on both sides. Depending on whether or not it will bankrupt us. DS could probably help in installing but we'll see how the prices are.
