DFW Iris Garden Tour / Swap Combination

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Ted, if you controlled it & it hasn't spread much, maybe you have Cherokee Rose:
It's very beautiful, tiny white flowers, big arching shape, & tiny healthy green leaves.

The Cherokee Rose at the FW Rose Garden was planted next to a covered wagon (which it eventually engulfed!)

I took a few things over this morning to get a head start, & the gardens are just beautiful.

If you have canopies, tents, etc, you might think about bringing it/them along: the weather is just gorgeous today, but I did get hot in the sun.

I don't know what kind of benches & chairs will be there, but I always like to bring a folding canvas camping chair just in case.

I may or may not get back to the computer:
if anyone needs me, Mitch has my phone #!

See you there!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Mitch, can you tell me how long it would take me to get there? I live in SW Fort Worth just inside the 820 Loop.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Ted I will take a rose and see what it does here...

Shelia - ummmm from Cooper in Arlington to here is about 30 (on a good day) to 50 (on a heavy day)... from Ft Worth well to tell you the truth I have never been to Ft Worth!

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Mitch am bringing two. I dug all of them up today and planted back along the fence.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I am willing to try almost anything that will just grow! Just dont let the guys over in the tree and shrub forum know they get touchy with anything feels like!

I am trying to get everything together to go... going to be one of those last min things with a few of them.. just too much to do and Chi was not wanting to go out and garden tonight...

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Thats the part of the country we live in. LOL
Just give me something that will survive and make me feel like a gardner.

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

See what happens when you tell people you're a'leavin'?

I had to come back: forgot half a dozen things!

Sheila, it takes probably about 30 minutes.
You are closer to 20 than 30, right?

When I leave Red Oak, it takes me about 45 minutes to get to my aunt's house in FW.
She lives in the Berry St/Forest Park area.

I'm going to put signs on cardboad boxes starting at I-35 & Ovilla Rd. There'll be 3 signs, 1 showing a "straight ahead" arrow at 35, 1 right turn at Red Oak Rd, & another right turn at Creekview West.

Very excited! I hope everybody has a great time!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Good! Do you need me to get there a little early to help set up or get ready? (and curb a two year old.. oh well he might be in a good mood and help tooooo just not tooo sure what help he will be!) I plan on getting there at 9:30-45 unless I hear from you.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Great! I am only two blocks off of I-20, so that would be about the same for me. That will give me plenty of time to load in the morning. Wheee!!!
Cardboard boxes giving directions??? We may have some strangers for sure!!! LOL!!

Mitch, I have your windows ready to go and a bunch of cacti too.
Ted, Got your water plant, and various cacti and HBeans for you too.
Sylvia, I am bringing HBeans & your plant stand. Also several others for trade to anyone????

Everyone there will get Purple Larkspur that wants some. I have way to many growing in rocks near my pond that must be gone before seeds start forming.
Bringing several other stray babies and seeds. Fruit is cut and ready.
Also my friend and co-worker is potting up some items to bring also, not sure what those will be!
Are we there yet???? Open...open....open...!

Oops errors!

Later this morning I will post a few pictures that my DH took (mostly from the car!). All was going great for the first 30 minutes then the rain hit. Bobby has a very full and interesting garden. I plan to return sometime and take pictures myself of her wonderfull iris and other plants. Also the garden art was everywhere you looked, making the dormant areas come alive.

After I dried out it was a great get togather. Loved meeting everyone and enjoyed your company.
Would love to see Bobby's garden when it is in full bloom.

Yes indeed, it didn't seem to be as many open blooms due to the overcast weather this week. But it was great seeing you, Mitch & Chi, Sylvia, Bobbie, Tina, Thuy and Anh, all again. If it had been clearer, I may have met more people from GW that were there. My friend, Char really enjoyed meeting you and the others, and loved the plants she traded for too. The DH, well he didn't get involved much, and as I said didn't take many pictures because of the rain. I will go work on that picture thread now.

Here is the link as promised:
