Good Morning All.
Here's the daily con't from.

Hope everyone has a great day,
Kelly

Morning everyone!! Heavens - it isn't ME who's 50 - just a member of a group I am in. She is the baby - and showed up 45 min late for her own party! We ordered chinese without her- couldn't wait!. She finally showed up - she still teaches and had lost a child (the mother picked him up, but left his coat/tote bag - she thought he was still somewhere in the building!) We had a glorious time - laughing and crying (one gals mother is dying - they expect it anytime)

I have leftover mandarin chicken - and guess what I'm having for breakfast?? LOL

Weather gal just said we are supposed to get really frigid weather starting Feb 7 - hmmm we'll see...Did ya hear that gas prices this summer are supposed to top 3.00? Man, when will it stop. The next news report was the huge profits the oil companies are seeing- something just isn't right.

9kit- good luck on the theraphy. Just close your eyes and let the therapist move your body parts - pretend you are somewhere else..(warm and with a ton of flowers)

Flower- you sub??? Oh man, I did that a bit the first year I retired- NO thank you!! I would come home and go right to bed...it was too exhausting for me!!!

M5- that nanny stuff sounds like the pits - slave labor I think!! One of my former students does nanny work and just loves it!! (she married a guy in med school who is dripping with $$) She said she does it for something to do. She has little responsibility other than keeping the kids out of the parents way. T hey travel all over. Can't imagine doing that.

Man, I feel like I am getting something- sneezing, scratchy throat, coughing etc. Yuck -

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

HI!! I got here early!!
I still need to page back again. DH is headed out of town so guess who'll be keeping the computer warm?

I wondered when we were going to get winter Sarv, not that I missed it. I have been grateful for the warm winter especially when thinking of everyone's heating bills. In the rural areas you really depend on your truck too, and gas prices are hurting people.

Will be back after I see what everyone's been up to!!

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Good Morning! I just tried catching up from yesterday and saw that the last part of my post is missing. Maybe I did something as I was getting ready to leave work and maybe shut the puter down too fast. I really have to get better at keeping up with you all. Miss a couple of days and I'm lost. Had a hard time getting on yesterday which didn't help.

Maria - can't wait to look for the Northeast garden forum.

Sarv - Hope you aren't getting the bug. Rest and take your vitamin C.

Took stepdaughter out for dinner for her birthday last night and ended up buying a mattress. We really needed one and we got a really great buy on a floor model. Over half off. Only problem is now I need to run out and buy those deep pocket sheets before DH brings it home tonight.

Rainy and dark here this morning. Supposed to get colder as the day goes on. Weatherman hinted that by tonight it could get icy. YUK!

Well gotta get some stuff done before I leave for work. See everyone later.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

NO Sarv, NO SICK!! Guzzle chicken soup, spray the Airbourne, take a nap, just don't get sick!! Your leftovers sound pretty tasty. I never manage to bring much home...unless we order double appetizers. My dad quit teaching when the students started taking over the classrooms. He was very strict, and tall and intimidating but at some point in the 70's he got fed up with it and retired.

You have to give credit to Carat for working in a school with kids who have behavioral problems, that has got to be draining. Even worse, they come armed! I agree that you can pretty much tell how they got that way by talking to the parents. I see kids all the time that need a good swat on the backside misbehaving in the stores, restaurants, smart mouthing their mothers. But they need to do it where they can't be seen so they don't get reported for child abuse.

My oldest DD has just stopped volunteering to take care of her younger sister's two kids who are 7 and 8 and have been in training for Delinquents of the Year since they were able to talk. YDD claims the oldest has ADD/ADHD , but
I maintain they are suffering from LM. Lazy Mother. It's work to discipline a child, set boundaries, be aware of what they are doing at all times, and she doesn't do it. I won't watch them either. They are hellions. She called to tell me about her last experience with them and said she isn't doing it anymore. I said that now she knows why I won't do it.

Gas prices jumped 20 cents in one day here....and gas profits for Exxon are outrageous. How does that work? And why isn't there some investigation into how they are getting away with it? Something stinks.....

DGS got a call from his former employer, the U.S. government, offering him a temporary 1 year assignment..............in Afghanistan!!! He's thinking about it. I'm telling him not to do it, his wife is telling him not to do it, and he's saying he can make $50,000 in that one year and pay for all his college. And I'm saying he can't go to college anymore if he's dead. Gahhhhhh!!

Susan, what's your seller name on Ebay? That was a pretty good one day profit! Good luck with the rest of your items. I just bought something and the seller sent me the wrong item. Now he wants me to pay postage to send it back, what a PITA. I might just resell it if he won't pay postage. It's a cosmetic item and the price was almost half of what I pay at Marshall Fields which is the only store that carries that line but it was his error.

Is the world out to annoy me this week? LOL

Dcat, you really had a busy busy day. I just caught up on all my paperwork last week and my desk is once again cluttered with more. I should just do it all when it comes in instead of waiting but it's one of those chores that doesn't provide any real satisfaction so I always put it off.

9kitty, send that DH over here, I can find plenty of chores for him to do. We wouldn't want him to get bored!

Who wanted the enchilada recipe? It's so simple, and very adjustable to quantity. I use the big enchilada wrappers, so one is a meal... because I stuff them pretty full.
I dice up chicken, if it is leftover like the rotisserie chicken I don't need to cook it ahead of time. Add an equal amount of cheese, colby jack cheddar whatever you prefer, add chopped onion, lots if you like it, season it well, mix in enough sour cream to make it stick together, pile it in a log on the wrapper, wrap it up like a burrito, cover it with enchilada sauce, mild, medium or hot, and bake for about 35 minutes at 350.

I've used leftover salsa instead of sauce, so there are a lot of ways to vary it. I'm sure you could use ground beef, or leftover pork roast....even use refried beans instead of the sour cream.........I serve it with chopped lettuce, tomato, avocado if I have any...it's a lazy day meal for me. And I froze some for other days when I can't get my rear in gear.

FC, kindergartners would send me to bed early too!!

Maria, I hope your sciatica is better today.

Elaine, and McCool, at least your DH's do SOMETHING in the kitchen, my DH can't even look past the first row in the "frig to find something. Surprised he can dress himself in the morning. I'm quite sure it's lack of motivation....if there is something I don't want him to find, all I have to do it put it in the back and it will stay there undiscovered until I want it. LOL

Good morning to everyone else, Have a sunny day....I'm out to run errands, check with y'all later!

Sheila

dcat~ glad you're on the mend and got out to church. Congrat's to your mom on her birthday! Personally I think your idea of an above ground pool for the DGD is a better idea than inground...just my 2 cents.

FlowerChild~cookies that describe akitten like yours? How about those Girl Scout Samoas? They don't have white feet of course, but they are brown with dark chocolate stripes and shaggy coconut! Course the nickname would become Sammie and we'd mix him up with Meezers cat.

Molly~ glad to hear of all your progress, inside and out.

Kelly~ paperwork, ugh! nothing makes me take a nap faster!

Mary~ Wish I had time to devote to endurance riding! I wonder if I would hold up! We've also considered competitive trail driving but never really seem to have enough time to train in any one thing. Today I have a jumping lesson (indoors) which is fun but I'm too old to do that for long! I love to hear about AmandaPAnda (love that name too!). Where are your accounts of your trail rides logged? I'd like to check it out

balvenie~ my sympathies to all out on the Wet Coast! I know I would have to leave for sanity's sake. It is depressing just HEARING about your weather!

Elaine~ Enjoy the book port! I don't know what I'd do without books this time of year.

9kitty~14 bean soup sounds great, that may be my dinner idea!

m5 ~LOL at The Weird Breakfast Club!! Will you start a separate thread?!? The nanny experience sounds dreadful.

Maria~ I too am sorry about your sciatica and hope you get relief soon. Thanks for the tip about NE gardening too.

Casey~I think I would get pretty down with all those behavioral problems around me! Or angry. Or both. But probably wouldn't be too effective. Good luck. You have your farm on the horizon now though, for something to look forward to!

Everyone else I'm missing, I'll try again later! I need CLiff notes or something!!

Edited to add: m5~ I hope your DGS doesn't go to Afghanistan!

Sorry but I have been out of town and out of touch for few days. yes it is raining here how sweet , great for the water table if anything. We had water shortages few years ago and we didnt have any rain for eight weeks last year. This morning my carpel tunnel is acting up and I have work to do this is not pleasant. I can sympatise with Maria and her sciatica I get it every now and then and it is miserable. I have some serious problems with my back and this is not a fun either.
I have to get myself together to do the taxes. I recieved all the papers that I needed, now lets hope that the software does not bungle up like it did two years ago. Actually I dont mind doing taxes , I guess that it has to do that I was doing accounting for so long...
Thank you Meezerfive for inspiring me for dinner , my mind was a complete blank regarding to dinner tonight, now I know enchiladas, I have not made those for a long time , Ronnie (my husband) will be happy a change of pace...
Today's picture is picture of my tenants coming out of their house (squirrels that is) I made the house for them last year.

Messerfive I would not want him over there either the way things are going down the tube. That whole area is about to explode. If we do not have something boardering on world war in a few year I will be surprised. Someone posted something to me the other day about the area I live in. They said something about "long range birds "in that area and I knew they meant Whiteman AF base. Lets hope all those "birds" up at Whiteman keep roosting. They fly from here to the Middle East and return all the time.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Morning, everyone,
My back feels a little better this morning, Defoe, I tried this HOT PATCH left over from using it for DH, it did not help him much but nothing did
anyway.
Carat, one of my daughters is a psycho therapist in three schols for troubled children, she handles one at a time, her sister is a certified teacher for handicapped children, both are very exhausting too by the end of the day, but they feel rewarded when successful.

Sarv, don't start with a cold, did you not just get over one?

DD, if you want to know what I think about this weather in the NE, it is going to be snowing in May. This morning I saw the tulips up about two inches, boy, am I upset, here it is January.

Suzie, had to get new mattress too, I ordered the one by the numbers, very, very comfortable, it helped my back a lot, this time I think I pulled a miscle from too much working with the vacuum.

Meezer, help trying to talk him out of it, money is really not everything, as you know I know what war is like, it is no place for anyone. Your dinner sounds good!!!!! Am having my dd and and husband for dinner tomorrow evening, real Viennese again, Scnintzel, Steamed broccoli with fontana cheese, (sounds Italien, I know, but cook that in Austria too) Parsley potatoes, a cucumber salad, don't know yet what is f0r dessert.

Agree with you, Oz

The dentist gave me tiny little brushes to use instead of flossing, much better and easier. Thought some of you would like to know.

Elaine, tried to call you but no answer!

Now I am off to the cleanrers and the Jeweler, had to have my ring made smaller'

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. Dmc and anybody else who is interested, the accounts of my endurance riding adventures can be found at the following thread. I hope the addy will automatically hyperlink when I post this. The whole season is stretched out over 3 threads so it takes a while to read. They are linked like these Coffee threads, at the end of one you click and it takes you to the next one. I posted a lot of pictures of the places where I go, plus the blow by blow events of each ride to sort of put the reader there with me. I hope you will find it interesting and maybe even entertaining. http://thegatheringplace.myzf.com/module/forums/t/13737/

I can't remember who was considering a pool but my vote goes for the above ground pool for several reasons: less expense, nothing for anybody to fall into without a bit of effort climbing up a few steps, it can be removed when not wanted anymore, landscaping around it can eventually be expanded to the area where it was, less maintenance, and, NO big hole in your yard that could be a liability if you ever decide to sell the house, depending upon where you live.

The Pacific Northwest is going to get another big rainstorm this afternoon, so that means Robert and Ernie had better keep their boots handy. Snow is forecast here for the next few days starting tomorrow. I'm glad some of you who need rain are finally getting some of it. We've been in a droughty situation here for several years, and in the 13 years we have lived here I don't think we ever had an above normal moisture year, just a lot of below normals and a few that were average. When I lived in western Washington, western Oregon, and southeast Alaska I saw way too much rain for a gal who likes it sunny.

I need to get moving now, might go to town today, hubby will buy a paper this morning and check for the Safeway ad that will give me $10 off on $50 of groceries. I like saving money when I have to spend it. Usually the ad is in Tuesday's paper but won't be good until Wednesday, but the timing of the 1st of the month has me wondering when it will be in the paper, this week or next? So, he is going to look and call me. And I have to stay off the computer for a while. See you later, have a great day.

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

We see the birds daily too as we only live about 25 miles from the base. We have people from there in our church and they are concerned about what may happen.

Mary, ride a few miles for me. I can almost feel my big TWH gelding under me sometimes when I read about your rides. He was such a joy to ride. As was our TWH/Welch pony cross. She was 1/2 shy of being a horse. Unfortunately she did not get the TWH run walk. Just a bone jarring trot. But a real love to ride at a flat walk or canter.

The sun is shining again today and it is lovely outside. Sheila and I have been doing quite a bit more house rearranging again. Lots more to get done tho. She is in town looking for work this morning. Having just one vehicle will make anything but a night job a bit hectic at times but hopefully the trips to doctors will slow down now. Jack's toe is nearly healed but the doctor said yesterday that it is still too soon to remove the PICC line.

Seed catalogs are arriving weekly but I haven't picked out much but some replacement items. I think I can get everything else locally.or thru DG trades. No point in doing a lot of veggies this year as we still have lots left from former years. Mostly a few green beans, some tomatoes, eggplants, and maybe some zukes.

I think this will be a relaxing restful week for the most part. For that I am so thankful. I need that right now.

GOD bless and keep each and all of you.

Hey everybody - back from the huff/puff and the beauty parlor. Told my hair cutter to do just do something that would make me look younger and more stylish. I just closed my eyes and opened them when she was done. I am pleased!! I was getting my hair cut real short and it looked rather manish, so I am keeping it longer, but layered - when I say longer, I mean 2-3 inches - not real long!!! At first she wanted to do the 'bob' look - no thank you!!

Well I see from the caller ID that MIL has called 2x. Wonder what she wants now. Probably time to tote her for her blood work. I haven't stopped in to see her for two weeks either..maybe she misses me! LOL

Maria, I haven't had a 'real' cold in a long time- just scrachy throat and a cough. I think this is 'allergies' again. It seems to get better as the day goes on, then returns again at night. Maybe it is this house!! What is this brush thing instead of flossing (I hate to floss...) I'm supposed to use this water pic thing, but the noise of it about sends me over the edge~(it's under the bathroom sink and will stay there until a few weeks before my next appointment!!)

Making soup tonight using turkey (and rice) It continues to be cold, GLOOMY, and damp here - just the weather to have a pot of soup bubbling on the stove.

Gonna hit the couch for a little snooze (crappy sleeping last night...)

Gravois Mills, MO(Zone 6a)

Leaflady We do not get many of the big ones through here. But we sure get a lot of the warthogs. That is one beautiful airplane I would love to fly in it. They come down here I think to practice target runs. They often are so low over the lake that they are below the hills. You can be sitting out on the water and see them come around a point in the lake not a 100 ft off the water. They seem to like to come in on boats about the size of pontoon boats. I have had them come up on me from a mile away and when they pass and sweep up I could smell the JP fuel trail. I recognized that stuff real fast. I spent 6 yrs on a carrier. That is how I became deaf. Still love that stuff though and miss it. I have a neighbor though that is a retired TWA pilot. He said he has stood on his deck and actually looked down at the at the top of the copit when it was coming up the lake. He is worried about someone having a control emergency at that level.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Hey, I am here. Slept like a log last night. Didn't get up until about 8:30.Immediatly took my pulse just to see if I was alive. Don't know when I've slept that long. Must have needed it.

After having my coffee and reading the paper, had to make a run to the bank and post office. Came home and got Mr. B, as I was going to my DM's and he just loves to go see his grandmother. I hung pictures and things at DM's since we are through painting and wall papering. It looks very nice, and now that things are back on the wall, looks like a home again. Nothing worse than bare walls.

Home and worked on my coin collection for awhile. Had neglected it, so needed to put coins in albums. Then worked on getting some seed trades packaged to go out in the morning.

I have been working on getting everything ready to file taxes. I hate it so bad that I just keep putting it off.

Meezer, it was me who wanted the enchilada recipe. Boy does that sound good. DH is not a big mexican fan, but I can get by with every once in awhile. Yeah, talking about delinquent kids, I couldn't have a little one now, because I would be in jail 3/4 of the time, and someone else would have to take care of it in my absence. I do admire those with the gift of teaching them, I am sure that it takes a double dose of patience, a quality that I don't have.

I am the one who is considering an above ground pool. This will be for my DGD who spends the summer here, and it would give her something else to do. My rationale, is that an above ground pool could be sold or dismantled at such time that she grows tired of it. Now, don't get me wrong, I probably would take advantage of it too. Especially if it gets as hot as it did last summer. I can just envision gardening, getting hot, then jumping in the pool to get cool and refreshed. Doesn't sound as nice today (temps in the 30's) as it would on one of those 100 degree days.

Speaking of horses, DH opened up a new pasture for ours about 2 weeks ago. Even went and showed them the way there. Well, they hung around the pasture here by the house for about a week and half, then we suddenly missed them. DH went out yesterday, and went to the back pasture, and they finally found their way there, and are munching away. If we hadn't wanted them in that pasture, they would have found a way in. Go figure.

Sarv, the haircut sounds good. I keep my hair short year round. It is a lot easier to work with, plus I don't have any skill at styling. Just blow it dry, use the curling iron around the face, and I'm good to go.

Mary, sure hope the back gets better. I have often wondered about those "number beds", so you would recommend them. 2 years ago when I was having so much pain in my back, I went out and bought the best mattress and box springs I could find. It is more comfortable, but didn't think about those number beds until later. Maybe the next one I get will be one of those.

To all of those I didn't address, I'm waving, just couldn't spend any more time here now. I'm off to the kitchen to prep the evening meal. So I will check in later.

Bartlesville, OK(Zone 6a)

Sheila, I am.....guess now......9kittymom....on ebay. LOL

Haven't sold anything else since yesterday, but I have a few watchers. Of course I have had a lot of watchers in the past and the things go unsold.
.

That enchilada recipe sounds very good and very easy. I'll have to give that a try. I never make an actual enchilada, I make an enchilada casserole that I got from my sister that is easy and very very good. I haven'tmade it in awhile either, might give that a try again soon.

Not getting much done today, DH went out to the chipper early this morning so he can get more done before he has to come in and get me ready for PT. LOL

Beautiful day, of course not any rain, 62 degrees, and very very windy. Under the fire danger again or still. Humidity is 21% so I give all the kitties a pop on the ears or tail when I give them a pet. They jerk around and glare at me, like what was that for, I was being a good kitty. LOL

Susan
=^..^=

Hi all
Sarv, Chinese for breakfast? LOL girl. You ain't right! Now I *do* love Chinese. In fact ... the other night I had some delicious Mandrin Hot Beef and Hot and Sour Soup and of course egg rolls, but for breakfast ... well, just don't think the ole stomach could take it. :) But hey, at least it's healthy. So, way to go. ;)

DMC
Good, maybe with the DH gone we'll see a bit more of you?

Oz and Leaflady
I too live in an airforce base town. The community is very "base oriented" as we know that's one of the reasons our community thrives ... that along with our University and vocational/technical college. They constantly fear the BRAC reports, though.

M5, I love chicken enchiladas. Your recipe sounds quick and easy. will have to give it a try. :)

Mary, thanks for the link. I went over and did some reading. Wow, never knew all that stuff. It sounds difficult to me ... especially the riding at night. I can understand how it would be very difficult to do that. I'm going back over and read some more. I just loved reading it.

Hi Suzie ... good to see you! I always get my deep pocket sheets from Penny's when they put those expensive ones on sale. Love those 300 thread count ones. I get them 1/2 off. I think they're usually about $100 but I only pay $50 which isn't bad for a real good set.

Susan, you'll have to give more info on the Ebay thing. Congrats on your sales. Hope the PT doesn't do you too bad today. Just let us know if we need to send the 2X4 over.

Has anyone heard from Darius lately? wonder how she's doing these days. Is she back at Molly's now? Sure hope she's having a safe trip if she's still out on the road.

Kelly, how are you feeling today. Haven't heard you mention your legs lately. I've had you on my mind. Oh and taxes ... you're so smart to be doing yours so soon. The DH will wait until the last minute unless I keep prodding him.

Well, I think my butt is growing to this chair, so I'm going to get up and stretch a bit. will catch y'all after while.
Hugs ... Elaine

Hi Everyone,

Am in Fairport, a suburb of Rochester. Have skimmed all the messages but don't want to use too much of my friend's Internet time; so won't comment on all at this time.

Had a good trip down here yesterday - just a bit more than 4 1/2 hours. I had a couple of freezing rain showers as I was Leaving Ottawa, but the weather and roads improved as I went south and if the weather reports are to be believed, I should have no difficulty returning on Thursday. The decision to cross the border at Prescott-Ogdensburg instead of 1000 islands was good - there was NOBODY there. And the NYS secondary roads that I took over to I81 were also good with very little traffic.

Hope you all have a good week. Might have time to take a peek tomorrow, but I'm not sure.

They say tme passes fast when you are having fun. It must. Here it is afternoon and I still have my slippers on. Put a pot of beans on last night and they were simmering away like they should, till the lid slipped on all the way.Well the simmer stopped and the boil began, and the overflow flowed and the stuff ran all over the burner and into the "hidden place" below. The fun started this morning and now we have a really clean stove. Haven't cleaned all those 'inner-parts' in a LONG time. Then one goes into the shop 'just to look around' and 4 hours pass. My gosh, I haven't even had breakfast, my meds, picked up doggy-poo or had my shower, but if there was any Chinese take-out left from last night I'd have had it for breakfast too. Whittling certainly becomes engrossing, but with the Indian Casino and Bingo Parlor just 5 minutes away a body needs something to keep him home and busy.

101 neither her are I are reallt a base town. We are both a pretty good way away.

I am very supportive of the military. They would have had to throw me out if it had not been for the hearing. Got a cousin retired in Hawaii had 35 years active duty in the Army. Retired as a Command Sargent Major. He served in the Infantry from 1940. He was at Schoefild Barracks 7 Dec 41. Served in WW11,Korea,VN (3 times), and somewhere else. He is one of the few people I ever heard of with a combat infantrymans badge with 3 stars. Means He got it four times. My friends son in law that is a S.E.A.L. commander makes me so awful proud and I do not know him that well. He looks like a Junior in High school to me rather than a Naval Officier in charge of a group of Special Forces. I admit I am a bit jealous. I wish I could be part of it.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

My morning message got posted accidentally a second time. The first time I got a page cannot be found message when I tried to send it, so I just broke my phone connection and let it sit, then when I came back from town I tried it again without checking to see if it really did go this morning. OOPS. I'm allowed one booboo a day, right?

Bargains today! I got my hubby a nice book for about 80 cents, a nylon(?) fanny pack with 3 zipper compartments for 95 cents, and a 19 cent flower pot at the Salvation Army store, then went to the grocery and used my $10 off coupon plus redeemed a coupon for a free 9 inch fruit pie, I chose Marionberry ( that's a blackberry hybrid), went over to the discount store and won a bag of Valentine candy for having the right membership number. Not a bad haul. Oh, and I had lunch with my sister and got a bunch of bananas for 10 cents a pound at another store.

I do have one of those sleep number beds, it is great to be able to adjust the firmness. However, it isn't me that is having back trouble. Whoever you are, I hope you feel better soon.

And now it's time to feed the horses before it gets dark.

Déjà vu!

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Hi Everyone,
I read through all the posts but don't remember half of what I read,,,lol,,,they say the mind is the first thing to go,,,well, it's going,,,grrrrrr

I do remember paperwork,,,,,I have to get going on that,,,I don't want to be pushing the deadline in April,,,like I usually do. I really Have to Make myself sit down and do it. If I would just keep up on it monthly or weekly, it wouldn't be so bad. I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment as far as bookwork goes.

My legs were better for a couple of days,,,not so puffy,,,now they were puffy again today,,,grrrrr Hate that.

Well,,,,better get to the store and then get dinner going,,,Enchiladas sound so good,,,but tonight it's left over pork chops. We have a friend that pops in quite frequently,,I never know if he's going to be here or not so I usually make enough for him also,,,last night I thought for sure he'd pop in so I made 6 pork chops,,,he didn't pop in,,so tonight it's leftovers,,,,now,,what to make with them,,LOL

See you all later,
Kelly

OH man, I was just at the end of a long post and for once I think I got everyone. Now I dont have the time to redo it.

Maria and orchid please take care of those nerves. All I can think is "ouch".

Maria are you making veal scnintzel? As in breaded and pan fried in a bit of fat? OH I want to come for dinner, I am not to big on steamed broccoli but promise to eat it all if I can have seconds of the parsley potatoes. How do you make your cucumber salad. I remember mom had a cucumber salad with very thinly sliced cucumber and it was in a thin white sauce of some sort with paprika, salt and pepper sprinkled on it. Do you make polichekins (sp?) also. I think I would cry if I could have some of those again.

Wanted to say thanks for the compliments about me and working with my kids. But please hold on to them because I am not sure I will be making it to the end of the year with out beating on at least one of them. I had some wonderful daydreams today of using a cattle prod on a snotty 12 year old boy who cant seem to keep his mouth shut.

Mary I loved your journals of your rides. I read each and every one of them a little while back. I actually felt as though I was there a few times with you. Cant wait until this years tales.

okay time to get off my butt and get some housework done, I know I have miss so much and so many and I apologize for it.

I will try to check in again later after dinner.

Just got back from a trip to K-Mart. Boy those deep pocket sheets are expensive. They only had one style,so I got em. It was either that, or spend a ton on gas going to another store. Nothing else was close.

DS just came in and wants to use the puter. I guess he'll have to wait.

It's kinda misty rain out right now. Hate driving a night in that stuff.

DH went to the Dr. tonight. His back and wrist have been giving him trouble. Now he has to go see an orthopedic Dr. He has already had 2 back surgeries for herniated disks. Hope we don't have to do that again! He is not a good patient.

Ann, glad you had a safe trip!

Mary E - Great shopping trip.

Susan - sounds like you are feeling pretty good now! Hope the PT went well.

Kelly - hope you're feeling ok.

Sorry to those I've missed, be back later tonight or tomorrow.

Patischell...

Well, y'all know by now that I visited Pati on the way to see my aunt in Miami on Saturday.

So, here's a photo of Pati, and my younger half sister in the background. Pati is doing great with her new knee now that the infection has passed!

Here are Pati's furbabies... the doxies. I never could get them in line for a good photo... but I'd have stolen them if I could have!

And I had a decadent dessert... and didn't save any to share...

Darius!! You didn't save us even one??? Well, then I have to put my blueberry pie on the counter. It came right from Sara Lee.....LOL. It was a buy one get one deal, and the first one was not so good, the bottom crust was soggy, so we didn't eat it. I baked this one a little longer so maybe it will be edible.

9kittymom, every time I get one of those crackpot emails I check it on Snopes2.com because they are so accurate in tracking the source and the age, many of them are just revised old urban myths that keep popping up and cluttering our mailboxes. And if I can't verify them, I never pass them along. What we really should be concerned about is outrageous profits on oil and gas, corrupt congressmen taking money from lobbyists, and ......stop me before I recite my entire list!!

Too tired to post more, hope everyone gets a good night's sleep, see you in the morning. DG is behaving oddly again today. Slow or no response, getting page not found often, etc. Wish they'd fix this up.

Hi all,

Hey, d'cat, sounds like you didn't need that 2x4 after all. You seem to have gotten quite a bit accomplished. I can sympathize about the taxes. I used to do my own (even did the neighbor's once), but once I started in business, I let my accountant take care of it. There are too many laws and too many changes year to year and I have enough to do just keeping the business "above water" without trying to be a tax expert as well. On that same note though, GG have you ever tried using a Dome book? The one I use is a monthly and you put in all your expenses and your sales figures each month. It makes that part of the tax preparation a lot easier at year's end.

Nice to hear from you darius. Those pics look just like our traditional Easter dessert --- when all my siblings used to come round, that is. Nobody but my mother is really interested in doing that anymore, so I'll get to hear her b****ing about that again soon.

Just had a piece of the apple cake that DH made yesterday. It came out quite good, but I think my DH must be a twin of D'cat's because he has me jumping up every five minutes when he tries that kind of cooking. You're right, d'cat, it IS more work than doing it yourself! Still, maybe they'll get the hang of it one of these days.

Maria, thanks for the "heads up" about the NE gardening forum! I wasn't aware that there was one. Haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but it's definitely on my "to do" list. Hope you continue to improve. If those patches help, please get yourself some more of them.

Suzieq, hope your DH gets better without the need for medical intervention.

Hi dmc, orchid, sarv, casey, oz, Mary, Robert, leaflady, M5, 101, Mg, and anyone I've missed. Time for me to go "veg out" for awhile. Night all.

Forgot to add my sister and I spent over 600 miles together over 2+ days and didn't fight at all!

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Darius, it was good to hear that you are still trucking and didn't leave your sister in any pot holes in the road. When are you due to be back home at Molly's. Drive safe if I miss your departure again.

Well I just booked my flight to go to SC over Presidents Day weekend. My youngest, Ryan, is going with me. He is so excited to see his Neicy (My best friend, he think its his friend I am borrowing) and to see the new house. Since I am allowed two check in bags and one carry one per person I am going to take some stuff that I can leave there so I dont have to worry about it such as a couple pairs of work pants, shirts and boots. If you all can think of anything please tell me. I am mailing all my extra seeds that I am going to use in my wild flower area also.

Well DH wants to watch Elizabethtown so its off to make some popcorn and settle down. I hope all that are sick or sore wake tomorrow well and fit. Sleep with the angels everyone

Hey, all. I just got a chance to get on and take a look at everyone's post. You guys are right. If you miss a day it takes a long time to catch up.
Everybody is making me really hungry. Between the enchilada, pork chops, bean soup, pies, strawberry shortbread and the Chinese and Viennese food, I'm drooling over my keyboard. I had ricecakes and a microwave frozen burrito for dinner and fed the kids corndogs. DH didn't eat. I can't say that I blame him when I cook up a meal like that.
I subbed kindergarten again today and came home and took a three hour nap while DH kept an eye on the kids. That was after sleeping 7 hours last night!! I haven't slept like that in a while.

DMC-I love the suggestion for the name. Our newbie just became Samoa, but I think we'll just call him Sam for short.

Carat- I don't know how you do it. My mom used to do similar work, but hers was a residential setting rather than in a school. She worked at a group home for troubled teens, so we always had somebody extra for all our holidays growing up. Now she works with the handicapped. She loves it, but that work is not for everybody. It takes a really special person to be able to do it.

9kittymom- I looked at your e-bay listings and died laughing over the pug in the coat. That is way too cute, especially since our dog is a pug. Had to call DH over to take a look and he thought it was hilarious. I've never bought from e-bay before. Does it usually work out ok?

Everybody I didn't mention- Sorry, there's just too many things to remember, but I'll sure try to talk to you later.

Hello again everyone. Got that supper done and cleaned the kitchen, went to DM's and gave Mr. B a bath. Boy is he mad at me. He always pouts for about 3 hours. So did it early enough that he should be good by bedtime.

Mary, I goofed too, I knew it was Maria that I should have been addressing about the number bed. But hey, Mary, Maria, both start with M. so give me some credit!! LOL. I haven't looked at your logs yet, but have gone there and bookmarked them so I can do that when I have some "extra time". I wonder does the mailman deliver that in a box or how do I get it? Great buys today too.

McCool, DH, just drives me crazy doing things in the kitchen. I was trying to concentrate the other night on balancing a check book, and he kept asking where is this, what do I do now, we don't have a ???? do we? Just would rather he sat in his recliner and used the remote (he is good at that) and let me run the kitchen.

Meezer, Now that I think about it, I could add a long post about things that I wonder about, Gas prices would be at the top. Politicians taking money from lobbyists, well I worked for a politician, and I could tell you tales about that.

Carat, glad that you are going to SC. Hope that your son has a good time. I would pack that extra suitcase with anything that you think you won't be needing in a while. Sounds like an expensive way to move though, a suitcase at a time. LOL

VA, welcome to the USA. Hope you have a good relaxing time here.

GG, about the bookkeeping and taxes, If i could afford to hire an accountant,I certainly would. Even just pay my bills and balance a checkbook. I did accounting for years, and it is not a foreign concept to me, but I don't enjoy it.

FC, Samoa, Sam for short, that sure works for me. Hope that he is settled in in a bit.

Darius, congrats on the "no fighting" with sis. And thanks also for the pics of Pattischell, and the doxies. Why didn't you grab one? She might not have missed it for awhile.

Kittymom, how did the PT go? It sure hurts at first, but is beneficial in the long run.

Susieq, I hear you about the sheets. I have only one set for my bed. They are so darned expensive. I have Egyptian cotton, they are so soft, and I just take them off, wash them, and remake the bed. Can't afford another set.

Bal, so how much fun did you have today? Sounds like a "bad day" to me. Cleaning a stove, yuk. I have a ceramic top range, and thought my cleaning stove days was over, but have to do the clean up on a daily basis, or you get rings around the burners. I knew something was up, when it came packed with a box cutter for scraping the crud off!!

Well, I am off to check some other threads, will probably be back after that, but if not, somebody said "sleep with the angels" didn't know DH had a second name!!!

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Darius,
That's good to hear.

Casey,
Underwear and socks,,,jammie jams, towels, toothpaste, wash cloths, Give me a few minutes I'll try and think of more,,,lol How exciting,,,,wave as you're flying across the country,,,we'll all be waiting to hear how everything went that weekend.

Flower,
If you're buying from Susan, you won't have to worry about a thing. It'll go great.

dcat,
Mr. B will get over it,,,how funny they can be,,lol. I used to do my own taxes before the Salon,,,now, I do all the bookwork and have a lady that does taxes do mine,,,she's a Good customer of mine and she can do them way better than I could as far as the Salon goes. Believe me if I wasn't absolutely sure I needed her to do them,,,I wouldn't spend the money. I Know I'd miss things for sure. Would be a mess.

Well, off to get tomorrows daily up.

Kelly
