allison frank and anne tinari were very "big" in the 60's and 70's and very influential...i think anne was secretary of AVSA for many years...my recollection is that they always had good plants for sale.
Question on leaf cuttings
I thought maybe I figured out the first Mosaic Av in Sport list. As I read Lilian Jarrett Variegated (2902) 09/28/1989 (F. Tinari) Double pale pink. Mosaic variegated medium green, pointed, serrated. Standard
>> being the first Mosaic foliage AV ...
>>> Even though there were AV's Mosiac before this plant.
Then on Sport list I noticed the plant ;
Lilian Jarrett (1060) 06/09/1961 (F. Tinari) Double light pink. Pointed, quilted, serrated. Large
>>>>
Sported to Lilian Jarrett Variegated. But Lilian Jarrett was not Variegated let alone Mosaic variegation
so how could it be the first ?
I just noticed buds on my mosaic so perhaps now we can ID it for sure.
I'll post a picture when it blooms
Jan
check this Lillian in Lace auction the leaves are ruffle
like FC says.
Lilian in Lace
Item number: 7743179439
Ruffles
Lilian in Lace (E. Champion) Double pink frilled. Mosaic variegated medium green and white, ruffled. Standard
We'll see when it blooms. It is always possible it was mislabeled. At least I only had 2 variegated ones. One was labeled Lillian n Lace and the other Fisherman's Paradise.
Jan...
Either way I love it ! Just showa one seller has one that looks like FC description and the other seller's plant does not.
