Thanks for alerting me to the possibility of a new forum. I'm in, too, although I want to know exactly what the purpose of the forum is. I've only been a Dave's Garden member for a short while, and unfortunately, I have been so busy with work (selling real estate) that I haven't had much time to surf the site or read threads, etc. I would think defining what the purpose of the forum is will help define the area of the south it actually serves, i.e. people in similar "zones" will want to share info that is applicable to their zone. If Missouri isn't in the same zone, then I wouldn't think they would want to be included. Thanks for enlightening me, as I'm sure many of you will. :)
On a different note, In case you hadn't thought of it, I am starting seeds and flower bulbs in those clear plastic containers you get pastry in at the grocery store. The seeds get light, they don't leak when you water, and they act as a mini greenhouse as I have one sitting directly on top of my heating vent in the kitchen floor. I am sprouting expensive daylily hybrid seeds I bought on the Daylily Auction. I am also using the same type of container that pre-washed salad greens came in...its a 5" deep clear container with a lid...I'm using it for bulbs.

I am a daylily nut and am opening "Jubilee Gardens" this summer in Hendersonville, TN. You are invited to come visit on Grand Opening day.

You said a mouthful, Gail!! Who in their right mind in mid-south climate wants to dig up stuff in the fall, lol! It's bad enough in the spring and then watering all season. I agree a mid-south forum would really be helpful for me too. Maybe Dave is at the olympics - I surely hope he hears our plea, I bet he will...

Dacula, GA(Zone 7b)

Hey can North Georgia join in?

Wilton, AR(Zone 8a)

I am in Southwest Arkansas, and would sure be interested in having this forum.
Best of luck!

IMO, if you 'think' you are from the mid-south, you are eligible...I'm a non-authority, just a subscriber...Dave makes the decisions...

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

A midsouth thread would be great!!

Yes I would like to join this forum. I used to live in St. Louis and I agree with an earlier poster who said that St. Louis was more "Midwest"; they'll have different planting needs. But I also agree the bootheel is more southern in its weather. They're growing cotton there along the highways, not so much corn like St. Louis and farther north.

Oh, Good. I just found this thread and I want to be included. We're about 70 miles north of Memphis and really close to the bootheel of Missouri and about 50 miles from ButterflyChasers town. SheVerne

I am from, what I consider Mid-South, Why do I have to access Daves Garden to get this forum. John

Olive Branch, MS(Zone 7b)

John, I hope somebody gives you better instructions than me. There is a hyperlink two posts above yours. I hope to see you in the Mid-South forum soon.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

John, I'm not sure I understand your question, so let me try a couple different answers in the hopes that one might hit on it:

1) You must be logged into Dave's Garden in order to participate in any of our forums, even the free ones. (Using any forum requires a username the system recognizes.)

2) You can find this forum on the Garden Talk tab: http://davesgarden.com/forums/ - look under the "Regional Gardening" section. See picture below for its exact location. You don't have to come through this thread for the link.

If you want to add this (or any other) forum to your favorites, you'll find a link in the upper right-hand corner of the forum's main page. That will allow the forum to be displayed on your "Home" page, making it easier to find it, and to know if any new posts have been made since you last accessed it.

If I didn't answer your question, please try one more time to explain what you meant, and I'll be happy to take another stab at it.
