I'm in Northern Ark, near Memphis TN. I'd love to see a Midsouth Forum that would cover AR, TN, MO, MS and whatever else qualifies. Thank you for considering it!
Could we have a Midsouth Forum?
If north Alabama qualifies I would participate in this. Thanks, Nicole
Don't think Missouri is a southern state at all. More like midwest.
I'm 45 minutes from the MO border and the Missourians there (in the bootheel) call themselves Southerners, not Midwesterners. And altho I'm in Arkansas, I'm not in the Ozark region, so an Ozark Region (which includes AR), like Gardenweb has, doesn't really fit me either. So I guess it's all a matter of interpretation, which would be up to Dave I suppose.
Maybe a tri-state forum for AR, TN, and MO would be better, as we are known as the Tri-State Region in these parts since the corners of each state are connected. Then again, MS is on the edge too. So maybe a Quadra-state forum? In any case, whatever is decided, somebody will be left out in this forum but would perhaps be picked up in another forum.
In any case, I'd really like to see a forum for AR, TN and MO or maybe AR, TN, and MS or whatever. I'll leave it up to Dave to decide what the forum should be called and who it should be comprised of. As long as AR is included, I'm happy!
I would still like to see this forum formed. Anybody else? I KNOW I'm not the only one here from this region. Where are you guys?
Thanks for starting this thread, please count me in.
Judy
Might I suggest that you send emails to all the subscribers in the area. I can help if you would like

I'm interested...and happy at the prospect of a forum that includes AR.
Thanks for the thread, ButterflyChaser and thank you, Judy, for the dmail telling me about it.
Mary
I too would like to have a Mid-south forum, thanks for the holler Judy!.
Bill
Since I'd really like to know if anyone wants to meet me at the Nashville Lawn/Garden show next month, I admit it *would* be nice to have a forum where I can ask others who live within driving distance.
Sooooooo.......count me in ;o)
Sounds good to me, although I'm in NW Arkansas, closer to Oklahoma than TN. I still think anything for this region of the US would be welcome.
Hi!!! I'd love to see such a forum. Count me in, thanks!!
Me too!
P
I believe that 8 people have posted saying they would like a MidSouth Forum, all we need are 2 more!!!
Judy
Thanks, bigred!!! Can you think of anyone else from Arky??? I sent you the same site that I received, but it wouldn't get me here, so I'm going back to correct it with the others I posted.
I'm all for it!! We could call it "The South farm". That should cover anyone from most any state who wants to join in, but would basically cover the zones we Southerns deal with. Lets face it, in all the states mentioned there are *several* zones involved, but the forum would help narrow down the spread for many of us. I say go for it!
ginni
Okay, I've asked 10 DG subscribers from Arky. I wore out at the end of the third page, whew. If we don't get one more soon, let me know and I'll have a Lime Coke, regroup, and ask some more. I cannot remember Loretta's name in TN but I know she would join, as well as Kay White, whose DG name I cannot remember either. Maybe not getting enough oxygen getting upstairs...could we have associate members from other areas?? And were is 'mid-south', the bounds, that is????

Okie dokie , add me to the list. I am in the middle of the Ozarks, and not far from Missouri.
I am at the age that I have to cut down on gardening, but I am still interested.
Me Me !!! I would love to have a midsouth forum. It's about time LOL
kathy
I love the South farm Forum LOL, that's cute.
Yes, thank you Judy and Sherry for the DMail, I haven't been scouting DG much, been so busy, we all need a nudge once ina while, need to send out some more nudges LOL to let everybody know.
Sherry,
Shadowgirl, Loretta, is no longer a subscriber??!!
Judy
I would also like to see a Mid-South forum.
Ruth
It might be helpful if someone would go to the different forums and issue an open invitation to those that might be interested. I'd surely hate to miss someone that would like to be included, that might not know about it...posting subscribers, one by one, takes forever...
ALRIGHT!!!!
12 people have posted saying they would like to have a MidSouth Forum!!!
I do believe that means Dave will create one.
Judy
I believe tll the new forums will be open to members and subscribers. If so I surely hope new people will feel comfortable joining in.
It's SNOWing here (80 miles east of Memphis right on the TN/MS Stateline), big fluffy flakes. It hasn't been doing it long but already the ground is almost covered.
Judy
Once the forum is set up and we spread the word, you KNOW there will be many who use it, especially if several states are included.
Thank you all for emailing each other and posting here. I can't wait to see this forum happen.
i'm in for a MidSouth forum, I'm located just north of Little Rock.
Count me in, I would love it.
Terry are you working at the Nashville Lawn and Garden Show??? I never miss it. I worked with the Master Gardeners booth for a couple of years, but not this year.

Count me in also. I think that would be great. Thanks for the Dmail notifying me about this thread, Judy.
Elena
Another DG'er from Mississippi would love this forum!!
Thanks for the offer and for the nudge, Judy!
Yvonne
Thanks, Judy, for the dmail. I have been wondering why there wasn't a Mid-South forum.
I had to edit this. It was a mess.

Count me in!
I would be very interested in a MidSouth thread.
I started off send emails to subscribers from Nashville to Memphis, all of AR and Jackson MS to TN Stateline. If I didn't recognize the town as being within that area I didn't send an email. I knew I wouldn't be able to send everyone, in all the states, emails before my hands and brain "numbed out" ... lol
Terry or Dave if you will define an area I will move forward with dmails.
Judy
Count me in, too!! I'm just a few miles from ButterflyChaser and I, too, would like to see a forum for our area!! And a Round-Up, too!!
Gail
if mo. is ark, oklahoma should be .. yes??? left out of Texas r.ups.. so be nice to be in this..
I'd like to ask a gardening question. I have gladiolas, a beautiful celery green, with ruffled edges, Green Star. I live in southeast Arky. I've never liked gladiolas, so I've never paid much attention until I found this 'contemporary' one. Should I start them in the greenhouse, so they will bloom this year, or what?? Also, it says sun and, or shade. I've never quite understood that, does it mean NO sun?? TIA!!
Dave, PPPppllllleeeeeeeeeeaaaassssseeeee!!!!! Give us a Mid-South forum. That would be SO wonderful!
And be sure to include Mississippi in it. Those of us in north MS don't have any other 'dedicated' place, just for us!
Thanks!
I always thought glads were supposed to have pretty much FULL SUN. I also thought, unless it specifies that they're HARDY glads, that if you don't dig them up in the fall they MAY not survive, depending on your winter. Zone 8 may be warm enough that you don't have to dig, as I'm in z7 and I've had them come back but they dwindled out within 3 years. Having said that, starting them in a greenhouse would bring them to bloom faster, but once they've bloomed that's it, so unless you just want to have EARLY glad blooms, that would be a lot of work.
Anyone else have an opinion?
Gail
NE AR'kie
The ugly ones survive here, Gail, so I won't be at all surprised if these bite the dust. I've never liked glads but these really look pretty and different. I have no choice but to try them, but, I won't start them in the gh, like you say, starting them inside would just be lots of extra work. Thanks!!!
I'm not a big glad fan, either. They flop over if you don't stake them and I'm SURE not going to dig stuff up in the fall after a long season of PLANTING everything! I want stuff that comes back no matter what! And glads just aren't reliable that way. I have a few that I got last year that are supposed to be hardy, but I had such a puny show of them last year, if they don't improve this year, they're coming OUT! I've got plenty of other stuff to fill that spot.
I hope Dave gets our Mid-South forum going soon! That will be cool to have a meeting place for "locals".... garden conversations are great but sometimes difficult with those that are 2-4 zones different.
Gail
