I also ordered some ferns back in December... Dryopteris marginalis,Onoclea sensibilis, and Osmunda cinnamomea.
I think that's all the shady plants I've ordered. If the weather doesn't warm up soon I think I will start spending my tax refund..ha ha!
Who is beginning to take serious looks at the catalogs now?
Two very nice grass choices you have there branches. Where did you buy your Highbush Cranberry from? I'd be particularly interested in your source for the Large-Leaved Aster. That's a stunning plant.
Oops, typing when you were typing... tax refund??? I'm into the money I was setting aside to pay taxes with! Bad Lauren! Very Bad indeed!
Viburnum trilobum, (high bush cranberry), did you mean blueberry Vaccinium corymbosum? Blueberry from raintree nursery. I did place an order with NYS DEC (saratoga tree nursery) for highbush cranberry, but you must be a NY resident to do so... This NYS source is great for tree seedlings (20 plants for $24) in the packet I got)
P.S. Asters were from prairie nursery
Excuse the brain fart... yes Highbush Blueberry not Highbush Cranberry. Nice price on seedlings at $24 per bundle.
So far I've ordered: more phlox (sub) to replace the ones I killed last year, tricrytis (love them, couldn't pass up), phlox (div) for the woods and the back shade beds, pulmonaria Majeste and Barfield Pink, and more astilbes. Add to that the plants that I've ordered for the re-do of the "dead bed" at the front walk; japanese painted ferms, more tricrytis, and ajuga torch.
All this, and the garden centers aren't even stocked yet. Some women buy shoes - I buy plants (ok, and sometimes shoes).
Stacy
There you go! Our husbands should be grateful we're buying plants as opposed to shoes. I love the look of tricrytis too. Here's hoping the seed you sent me germinates. That will be exciting.
I recently bought Tricyrtis Raspberry Mousse from a nursery that sells on ebay, they also had the new Astrantia Moulin Rouge so I got that as well. They are growing new shoots! I also picked up 2 nice ferns from the supermarket, Polystichum setiferum, and Polystichum setiferum plumosodensum. They had some other nice ones, who knows, if there when I shop next they're mine! Very cheap too, only £1.79 (x 1.75$)

Stacy I have Pulmonaria Majeste, not many leaves at the moment but flower buds already, the leaves are spectacular. Glad to see you have your priorities right! I sometimes buy shoes, but only when absolutely necessary. I hang onto my old jeans too, I did buy a new pair some time ago (birthday money) but they are not comfy, these are over 7 years old and only just hanging together! You actually pay a lot of money for some like these
Oh very nice Huechera 'Magic Color' and I loved that Brunnera 'Silver Wing'.
Heya all! Back from vacation!
NICE JEANS!! hahaha My BIL buys jeans so they look worn already. I imagine people would pay a fortune for yours! ; )
I ordered a pink double Asiatic lily, Japanese Iris, and double freesia.
So what plants have you ended up ordering, Equil?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the tricrytis seeds here too. The greenhouse, even weighted down with cinder blocks and in the least windy spot I could find, blew over two weeks ago. I had duct-taped the joints together, so it stayed intact. The tricrytis was in a flat on the bottom, so it didn't get jostled around too badly, but some of my other containers took a pretty bad toss. The lupines are germinating, but nothing else yet. I did some direct sowing too, so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.
Wallaby - nice knees and toes!! I love pulmonarias (and tricrytis) - I think I'm up to six or seven different kinds of pulmonarai and 4 of tricrytis. p. Dark Vader is next on my Gotta Have It list - may been to add t. Raspberry Mouse. Nearly all of my beds are at least half shade, so I have all kinds of wonderful spots for new babies. I'd be happy to dig out the generic lamium to make room for more.
I put in a LOT of plants last year, and so far it looks like everything made it through the winter. The delphiniums aren't peeking through yet, but it's still pretty early.
