I'm located somewhere here...

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Just found time to fiddle around 'google-earth'. Tried to locate our area by the roads and have marked the approximate area of our house in a red circle. Desired resolution has not been given to our city [reasons not known]. The lake on the top left is the Kukkarahalli Lake . The greener 'oval-shaped' area north of the marked circle is the famous Mysore Palace premesis. Some part of the Mysore Race Course is also seen as a curve on the right hand side. Mysore has a lovely terrain. Greenery is diminishing, in the name of development! Then towards the east of our area is Mysore Zoo seen in a vast expanse of green, almost like a strip. But the Zoo does not cover the entire stretch. The darker area on the bottom right is the famous Chamundi Hill which makes such a lovely setting to the entire city. There are a couple of other lakes that are just out of the selected area of the picture.

P.S.
Hi to your DW and DD. :)

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

When I focussed closer on Mysore, what I saw was quite lovely. It was such a lovely terrain, the Cauvery River flowing down... In this picture I have selected is pretty green on one side, but overall, the greenery is turning into 'brownery' ... trees are being cut to make way for increased traffic. Avenues were so beautiful that driving in summer was an experience - it was so much cooler under the green, natural canopy. When I was young, I remember how green our city was when viewed from the top of the Chamundi Hill. Last year when I went up there, it made a pathetic look... houses all over, green patches were small. Mysore was designed for a particular level of population, but none had dreamt that it would so soon swell to a million.

Dinu,
Yes, it is sad. That's the way it is here in the US also. We are cutting down trees, adding more parking lots, more apartments and houses and our rual towns are turning into cities over night. They say it's progress. I miss the plants and trees, though. :)

The view is changing from Mysore to My-eyesore. :( We've lost a lot of old trees around here, too. It's crazy how they clear away all the good topsoil and trees when developments go up, no care taken to maintain the natural beauty.

Neat photo Dinu! Did anyone make out the face? I always see faces in mountain and other pictures.

Terra server gets pretty close, and we have a local server called MAGIC.

DH tried Google Earth, but we have to subscribe.( I think that's what he said.)

How big is your zoo?

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

The Zoo is spread over some acres.
