National Arbor Day Foundation

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Today I got a letter in the mail from the National Arbor Day Foundation. I has a calendar, a membership card, plus some information about them sending me 10 trees when the season is right for planting. They said that they will not only send me the trees, but they will guarantee their growth. And if these fail to grow or die, they will send me replacements. Has anyone ever had any dealings with them before? Is this for real? It would be nice if it were real. My yard is completely bare with nothing at all in it except a couple of ugly shrubs that are going to come down soon. So this would be really nice if it were real. Anyway, I just wanted to see if any of you had ever had any dealings with them before or had been given any of their trees. Thanks.

Jesse,
I have accepted their free trees offer and became a member several different times over the years.

The free trees are mere twigs and the other trees that you can buy from them aren't much better. They do replace the trees that die, but it's a hassle- and they just send you more twigs.

This is just my experience with them.

Thanks for your help. With a rating like the one they have in the Garden Watchdog, I think I will pass. I do not need any dead plants around here. Thanks so much for your help.

I didn't see anyone mention that they do replace the trees but you foot the bill for the postage!

They just sent me my replacement trees and they footed the bill - they even added a red maple for some reason. How you ask? Call and flatter then - great trees, but a few that did not make it are - bla bla bla... and then ask if they can send replacements - they send them free no problem. But the buttering them up first made it all work.

i grew the trees just as they said-lost one and the rest are over 5ft now! i think they are 3-4yrs old. They were twigs when i got them!
im not going to join this yr!

LOL Mitch! I was nice when I called. I guess you just sweet talk better than I do. ;)
