Can someone tell me what the difference is between a pergola and ramada? I am always looking for ideas for a gardening article I write for a local paper and ran across an article on a ramada in a magazine which inspired me to write one on garden structures.

I googled a definition

and it does sound similar to a pergola

It sounds like a Pergola covers a walkway and a ramada is more of a post and beam structure in an of itself...

The article will be about garden construction and gives me something to write about during the winter. I don't usually post my articles here because they take up most of a page in the paper with several pictures.

Ok, so what is this?? I always thought a pergola was one of these "Pointy" things. My DD bought me one and my neighbor made me the other one on the left.

No, this is a pergola, but I would like to know what yours is called because I have one, lol. Got it for free at a thrift shop.
