Azalea Help

Bossier City, LA(Zone 8a)

I need any help I can get. I have 2 year old landscape azaleas (about 30) and they are pitiful. My lawn guy diagnosed white flies last year and we treated repeatedly. I now have 2 dead azaleas and 28 more that are very finicky. It looks like they are all cured of white flies and are green again with growht but small and not very full. They have sun and afternoon shade and I water religiously. I use acid based fertilizer. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong and what I can do to make them full and beautiful? Any ideas on how to keep white flies away? What exactly are white flies and why do my azaleas have them? Can I over water azaleas? Please help before I lose all of them. By the way, 50% of them are the white mini gardenia look. They all bloom profusely but the plants are just plain pitiful!
Thanks

My azaleas are small, about 3 feet, and 2 feet across. I do fertilize with acid based fertilizer, they bloom so well, and the foliage stays green. I have them close to the house, and I really don't care if they don't get any bigger.

Hi SothernlyYours - you might try posting in the Rhododendron & Relatives forum.
