Here's the first wall almost finished (framing). The lad is Molly's son, Jeremy.

If the concrete cures overnight, we might get the other 3 walls framed tomorrow. Then trim the tops of the support poles and get ready for top plates and rafters!

Hey all!

Our best New Year was also our worst. 1990-91 I was in the hospital in Weisbaden, Germany, Nathan was 25 days old and DH was preparing to go to Saudi. The nurses totally relaxed all the rules and let him bring the baby up (45 miles from his base) whenever he got off duty. Otherwise I would sit and bawl all day because I wanted my baby and I was so scared of losing Dh is Saudi. Anyway, at midnight the locals set off fireworks and Dh and I watched from the window and just held each other and Nathan. I never felt closer to him than at that moment and I never wanted it to end. But it did and I finally was out of the hospital and we were home together for 3 days before he flew out. He came home safe, a few broken ribs and some stitches, 9 months later.

This year we had planned to go to the "Carp Drop" in Prairie du Chien, WI but Jenna is sick again. So we have switched plans. Since it is also payday weekend and we always splurge a bit for pizza, that's what the kids voted on for dinner. Then some movies and games. I made a huge batch of Chex Mix so we will have plenty of munchies, lol. I really doubt Jenna will make it to midnight, but she will sure try! I will prolly let her doze on the couch and wake her up at the right moment.

Nathan does seem to have had an epiphany. Bad behavior = no fun. What a concept! He was majorly upset that Jenna and I went to the Aquarium without him, so *maybe* it will leave a lasting impression. I will say tho, it was wonderful to have Jenna to myself for a few hours and I think I will make sure that happens more often.

So for now, I wish all my Coffee friends a Blessed New Year and may your resolutions last until June!

Mary, yes, I am alive here in the valley. It has been very nasty here. Many roads are flooded and with more mud slides. The rain hasn't stopped much except finally I got out for a bit to take down the Christmas lights and put the Christmas tree out.
Rain, rain, go away and never come back, LOL!
Love hearing about your new kitty tho, Mary. Hope she gets better and better each day.

Kooger, love your pic of the puppy and kitty. They look so cute.

Dcat, I never got to say anything but hope your MIL is still recuping nicely. I know it is so hard with her being so old but hope she will come thru just fine. Have fun out tonight.

Mg, that sounds like a good idea with Nathan. But it won't last. I hate to be negative but boy teenagers are a pain in the butt for a few years. But while they are acting nicely, take advantage of it, believe me.

Ann, that sounds like a very good idea for those chairs. You must be good at sewing to do that then.

Well, I am not doing anything exciting tonight. I get to, as I have the past 4 years, to fill out the FAFSA (federal financial aid papers for college) online tonight at 9 pm to midnight. I absolutely hate filling these out! I now have to do 2 of them, one for the coming up dental school student and the other son who still doesn't know what he wants to do with his life but ....

So HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVERYONE!!!

Carol (DR)(the even one

Hi all,
Happy New Year! The DH smoked 2 yummy pork butts today. One I used to go in the stew and the other one we've been muching on for supper. I see everyone has been busy with first one thing and another today. Among the stew makings, I ran to Sams, the grocery and vegetable stand. Will be having the traditional southern new year's meal tomorrow ... collard greens, sweet potatoes and black eyed peas. Decided not to get out tonight, but will go to church tomorrow.

Carol, sorry to hear about your bad weather. It's unreal how different the weather can be across the country like that. It got up to 77 here. Thought we were going to have to turn on the air as it was hot in the house.

Defoe, am glad your MIL is getting along okay. Sorry she will have to have a Pacemaker put in, but understand that's a simple procedure these days.

Darius, y'all have certainly been busy in FL. At least we've had good weather way down south for it. LOL

Mary, glad to hear the kitty's eye is healing.

Well, think I'm going to get my bath and get comfy. Will check on y'all later. If I don't make it back ... Happy New Year to all!
