MKJ, that first blue/white is incredible. The second one looks quite a bit like my 'Ultra' series Noid.
Kenton
Edited to note that the colors are faded in warmer weather, and it gets te occasional stripe through a flower (as pictured)

Show me your favorite NOID...
Absolutely beautiful.
Hey, Kenton--mine has very similar behavior. Like you said, the blossoms will fade.....not unhealthily, just in their shading. Mine throws stripes too. Which 'Ultra' do you think yours to be? I'll do some looking up in FC, and see what it says............=)
It's so FUN to talk violets........
MKJ
OH Violet...I am not south of you ...Just east :)
At one point, MKJ, I had the name 'Saturn' or 'Jupiter' or something celestial in my head...
That yours does the same things is promising. They are both girl-leaf, too.
Well Kenton Optimara, nor Untra violets have a ( Optimara Saturn yes but blue star dark green)'Saturn or Jupiter' ??
Does it have girl foliage ? Thanks, Allison

Both mine and MKJ's have girl-leaves.
Thanks, Allison, the expert on the case.
ok girl leaves I love them I will look for girl leaves if MKJ has not already fount it in First Class. allison
No Kenton I'm not an expert I just have First Class to look them up :))
Kenton First Class does not have An Ultra Violet Saturn " BUT" on the AVSA photos there is one :)) Here is link tophoto I can't tell if it's girl foliage can you ?
Ultra Violet Saturn

They look girl to me (and I'm very experienced in the girl-spotting department).
The ruffle amount on the flowers and leaves look awfully close.
Great job, Allison. I will see if i can post another picture of mine for identification's sake.
Oh wow ..that is very pretty Treasure
Is it possible that Lorry, Critter and I have the SAME noid?
Today, in an attempt to drag myself OUT of this holiday hole I've found myself in at times, I swung by my garden center to see if by chance they had any new rex begonias in (no) and found these no id's practically climbing over one another to get into my basket.
I told them "Oh alright, you three can come along, but you, you with the pollen spilled on your petals, you'll have to stay, Sorry about that."
so the no id thumbprint got to come home with me, and brought two friends along.
And finally, I do believe this is the first 'Fantasy' I've had in bloom. I think one that Ali sent me is a fantasy, not sure. But here she is in all her glory...
(Again, you can see how big these are!) Makes me wonder, if the garden center is selling for $3, then the grower is getting just over a buck to a buck fifty a piece. You gotta sell A LOT of violets to cover expenses. The gas alone for the big trucks delivering would hardly be covered, at least here on the Left Coast. Our gas is still pretty high. I think I paid around $2.40 a gallon today. The garden center had two flats of these violets - 20 to a flat or so, maybe 24. Either way, that's still a lot of plants to make a profit.
Either way, I'm glad. These violets were the highlight of my day, and of course sharing them with you all.
Um, Crazii, WHAT is wrong w/a little pollen???? =0 lol LOVE your "scores" for the day!!! I do the same exact thing when I get into a hole........;-)
Spilled pollen can be a sign of thrips, I think.... begonia learned that with her last purchase....
Congrats on some beautiful new violets! I too do not know how they can sell these plants for $3.
Yup, I learned the thrip lesson. Cant remember which thread we were talking about that in... hmmmm..
One thing to note, the Bayer rose systemic I used (half strength) Didn't seem to harm those four violets (knocking on wood). In fact they all look very healthy despite their 'baldness' (haircut, flower removal or what ever we call it LOL)
Just to refresh, I gave everyone a neem dunk and then drenched with bayer.
Oh, gosh.......just have to interject here......Neem good. Spill Neem on yourself? Bad. That stuff WILL NOT come off!
Wow.. I love the pink fantasy Noid .
I've never once seen a standard Fantasy for sale here.
I do have a mini fantasy almost her twin.
BegoniaC,All are Great finds that's for sure!
Shhhh, ladies we don't want them hiking up the prices on our favorite plant pick me up...lol
If they only knew what we would really pay!
MsC
Yup Begonia..I do believe we do :)
LOL that sure does look like my Noid
Begonia your Fantasy plant if gorgeous WOW lucky find. Keep it in your bedroom away from the other plants :)) You can look at it when you first wake up and right before you go to sleep :))
Lorry your noid dogs are great !
Allison
Well, your dog LOOKS intelligent, so he's got us hoodwinked there.
Nice Noids, Begonia.
Kenton
beautiful dogs, intelligence isn't everything, you know!! (I say this a lot to my friend who has a dog that is so sweet, but if her ball rolls under the table, will have NO IDEA where it vanished to - hilarious!)
*laugh*
Kenton..the Black one is too smart for his own good...The red one does not have enough brains to get out of her own way.
Violet..thanks..I never wanted large dogs until I met my husband..who always wanted them....I adore my babies *almost as much as my violets*
2Zeus *Laugh* that is my Carly *the red one* But luckily the black one takes care of his mentally challenged sister! You are right though, intelligence isn't everything. She is one of the sweetest pups I have ever met@
Lorry
MKJ, the neem wasn't bad. Just filled the container and dunked them upside down so I held onto the pot while the leaves got submerged. Don't remember getting it off. It is an oil so some good soap would likely remove it. I didn't have any trouble.
And on an OT note since we have had dog discussions. James you said 'Amber looks awfully good today, eh?' and
right after reading the AV threads, I went into the house only to find a VERY full kitchen garbage spread ALL over the house, and I mean ALL over. Guess who instigated THAT! Yup, the big gal!
Perhaps your dog's website (thing) needs a "Naughty dog, shame on you" button next to the"Give a dog a Bone."
Maybe "good" means healthy. Healthy and tearing open the trash. Once, when Britta was a puppy, she took the end of the toilet paper roll. You'de never think it would go so far... Now, Poppy likes to tear up plastic flowerpots in the yard. It isn't so bad, except when they have plants in them!!!
Oh, yes, Persevere (and thanks for putting the compost song in a better place) We had better say it more quietly. Mind you, I have been known to wisper to a plant "Compost...compost...cooomposssst...." To threaten it to bloom.
Kenton
I do that, Kenton, say to a poor performer "I'm giving you one more month, and then out you come for somebody who WANTS to bloom!!"
Glad I'm not the only one........I threaten, then I c*#$ them, then I blatantly ignore them 'til they croak. Yippee! More space under the lights for the New Guy. ;-)
Scientifically and Empiracally, a small change via movement or even a healthy bit of 'neglect' can encourage a plant to strut its botanical sexuality.
Or maybe they have ears and think "Goodness me! I'd better bloom!"
A wise Rosarian once said (Let me paraphrase for heatrical efect)
"If it does not make your heart go pitter-pat, then rip the d*** thing out."
Ah, the seasoned collector.
Kenton James who drank too much coffee too late.
Kenton, you're a hoot!:)
And you stay up to late to know!
While repotting all the noid's today, I had an idea to print and laminate photo tags so that when I remove flowers (because I didn't know the spilled pollen meant potential thrips) or when they are not in flower. I can easily know who looks like what.
Since I take lots of photos, I had one of the girl leaf no id. So I printed it about the size of a quarter and laminated it in some plastic laminating paper and then attached it to the pot.
I tried writing on the pot, but then they all said 'no id pink flowers' or 'no id purple flowers' - Duh, seems like they all have pink flowers or some shade of pink. The photo makes it a little easier to ID the NO ID.
What a great ideal!
I always write on the NOID's pot a description but you are right ...pink, purple or white doesn't help a lot after the blooms are gone.lolI was doing peel and stick labels for some with a pic but that's sooo time consuming.
MsC
Oh yea, and I used my soldering iron to make the hole. I also use it to make holes in the solo cups for wicks and drainage.
Something I learned here on DG
WOW Begoina awesome . I lvoe the idea you have :)) If you have First class you can do this with all. When I have ink lol I use to send along the pictures and info you can print in out on lables from FC program so people would know t=what it will look like. But I like your method better than taping it on.
