Listen, about the wrong color shoes...ain't nothing wrong with that at all! I mean.....someone I know... ..sort of wore a blue shoe and a black shoe...one with a gold buckle...one without...to perhaps a graduation. Of course this "friend" did the right thing....she just took her shoes off and ran through the parking lot until she got in the dark building! And did the same thing on the way out!
Of course that was YEARS ago my FRIEND did that! haha
Debbie
Elaine's Christmas Dream
Debbie, please tell your 'friend' that we love her anyway! LOL
Rachel
Gosh I hope that friend of yours got even with the friend that played that aweful trick on her. That is as bad as my "friend" who made it all the way to work before she realize that she forgot to change from her fluffy fuzzy bright green house shoes to her heels before leaving and making the 45 minute drive. Needless to say my "friend" stayed seated at her desk all day. LOL
And that was just a couple years ago.....
Just wanted to share this e-mail from Pat at Ferguson Enterprises that I received today.
Dear Kelly,
Oh! That's so very sweet of you all to buy SCANACAN for her! That fills my heart with so much love. That is so very loving!
Please give this sweet lady a big squeeze for me, and certainly a big squeeze for you also. I just love people and I just love to squeeze everyone. lol.
Yes, you may order via email. That is just fine and I do believe we are pretty secure here.
God will reward you all for such a wonderful deed. You are all loving!
Thanks much.
Warm Regards,
Pat Ferguson
Kelly
Don't Y'all quit on donations NOW just because we have realized the first goal of the software. There IS MUCH MORE NEEDED!
We will absolutely still accept donations. Anyone who wants to contribute may still do so. There are other things we can purchase that would be a big help.
I talked to Elaine tonight and told her to go to the site, listen to what hey have and make out a Dream List. I ended my d-mail with Happy Shopping,,,LOL
So, we'll see what she comes up with,,,Oh this is fun.
Casey,
Good question,,,,I have just sent an e-mail our friend Pat,,, Why jump on these things???? LOL
Kelly,,, Not crying right now,,,LOL
Darius, you have D-mail. :)
Dang, but love travels fast here on DG! Many thanks to Darius and Kelly for organizing this special gift for such a precious lady as Elaine. And wow, do those SCANACAN folks rock, or what?!?!?!
Whooping and hollering in glee here in the snowy Inland Northwest,
Donna and Arod (SO1)
Tutti,
They sure do. In my dealings with them through e-mail, Pat has been a blessing to work with.
Thank-You,
Kelly
I have found that love begets love, so open your hearts, and you will be especially blessed this christmas season.
I am so glad that this has come together. I think this will be one of my better Christmas' just because of the generosity of all DGers.
Have a good day.
Interesting "new" math
Love - adds
Hatred - subtracts
Joy shared - multiplies
Grief shared - divides
Have had many sad christmases in my life, especially the last few years, but this is the best ever since then, love to all of you
Had a conversation with my sis this morning, she said this story belongs on Oprah or the news....I said I thought we would prefer to stay "unpublicized" but that it isn't up to me, because it was a group effort..........Any thoughts on that, Darius or Gardengeek?? I have membership in the Oprah site but I wouldn't send this in without some concensus from you all.
I was thinking along similar lines - isn't it amazing what a gift this is to ALL of us? How many smiles is this one gift bringing? I think it would set a record for a single gift!!
Yes, it is as big a gift for us as it is for Elaine...I can't remember ever getting so much joy out of such a simple deed!
Could we have a thread for just whose Christmas has been MADE by this? I'd like to see how many smiles it brought!

I vote no to public notice.
I did this for Elaine - not to get a pat on the back. Just my thought.
ditto
Edited because i am having a grumpy morning and you all don't need to share :)
I'm going to go pout for a while, drink some tea and hug my sleepy kids till they wake up, and then tickle them till we all laugh.

I think Elaine would hate it "going public", and many would hate our generosity shown when we choose to be anonymous.
I am in a bit of a funk this morning, so please excuse me. I am probably being pessimistic as well, but the only "news" i see lately, is bad.

Just read through the thread to see where we were and couldn't believe we already met the goal! That is so fantastic. I hope and pray that more donations will come in for all of the extra goodies.
Sharon
I see your point tombaak. Let's just keep it between friends and be excited for Elaine. I'm soooo excited!!! The beautiful spirits within DG are all that matters.
Stories like this always inspire people, (yes, tombaak, somebody would care) but I think we need to respect the privacy of the recipient. She is already overwelmed. The happiness in the hearts of the givers is recognition enough. There will be other stories that will go public.
Well,
IMO, I believe you should give til it hurts and I'm thinkin' that I read somewhere (The Bible) that we are to do so anonymously. I would love the fact that if it did go public, think of all the people that might benefit from it (the knowledge that there are special, awesome things for the people who need them),,,,however one of those little voices that seem to dwell in my mind says, prolly we shouldn't do that.
Kelly
GG, You are right about the scriptural admonition for giving anonymously, I was trying to remember just where it resides. I agree the situation should remain inside DG.
Well, I for one would love to see Dave's Garden on Oprah :) Not a particular story, but the members....a family of over 160,000. We do have a unique group here and we are loving, caring people. Look at what was accomplished during the hurricanes; I'm reminded of the kindness that was given to Hope43; and now this kindness to IO1.....and I know there are more, so many stories...how could we single out one.
I became a member/subscriber in 2003 when over 50 people wrote the most loving statements when I lost my infant grandson. I only knew one of these people and not in person, he was an internet friend from another source (you know who you are :) ).
Dave's Garden oozes of love, caring, and sharing.......and in due time, it will be an example to the world :)
I love you all. Kathy
me too..
Gosh, Y'all now have ME tearing up. This "Stone Soup" http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/405010/
sure gets good!
Tearing AGAIN,,,,seems that's all I do lately,,,,,feels so good,,,maybe when this Holiday Season is over I can stop it?????LOL
Kelly
No lets live the lesson Charles Dickens showed us in A Christmas Carol and live like it was Christmas all year long. I've been watching this thread and it amazes me all the good people here. What a spirit lifter for the holidays.

Howie, it boggles my mind too! BUT, I am SO grateful for it. : )
Howie,
Amen to that !!!!!
Kelly
Darius, That was so good and thank you Dea for posting that. Just goes to show that some things are left for infinity.
I sent the story on to my pastor, what a great message is there.
God Bless,
Kathy
I agree with all of you it should be kept private, I wouldn't have mentioned it except my sis thought it was a story that brought a bright light to the season. Sounds unanimous, and we are united.
Darius, can I still paypal or would you prefer a check?
I would like to help. :)
Either way, 'Chele... we have LOTS of extras that need adding!
Please do not go public about this particular thread, some day perhaps but only as members as a whole belonging to DG
Maria, no one is going public, (Elaine would HATE it!) and Kelly and I have the ONLY list of contributions.

"We can do no great things, only small things with great love"
-Mother Teresa
God Speaking
*************
The man whispered, "God, speak to me" And a meadowlark sang.
But the man did not hear..
So the man yelled "God, speak to me" And the thunder & lightning rolled across the sky.
But the man did not listen..
The man looked around and said, "God, let me see you." And a star shined brightly.
But the man did not see.
And, the man shouted, "God, show me a miracle" And a life was born.
But the man did not notice.
So, the man cried out in despair, "Touch me, God, and let me know you are here"
Whereupon, God reached down and touched the man.
But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.
I found this to be a great reminder that God is always around us in the
little and simple things that we take for granted.
Even in our electronic
age . . . so I would like to add one more:
The man cried "God, I need your help" ... and an e-mail arrived reaching out with good news and encouragement.
But the man deleted it and continued crying.....
The good news is that you are loved. Don't miss out on a blessing because it isn't packaged the way that you expect.
Expect the unexpected....
Have A Happy Day!
