First off the bat, I'd say Moon Flowers!

Corte Madera, CA

that is most excellent!

brugmansias, too. the white ones are quite spectacular at night. very fragrant also.

Thornton, IL

Nicotiana alata, or flowering tobacco, very fragrant and confederate or star jasmine (Trachelosperum jasminoides) heady fragrance, both in white for best effect.

Silver leaves to catch the moonlight -

Cascades of woolly thyme (Thymus lanuginosa)
Mats of pinks (Dianthus alwoodii; D. plumaria)
lamb ears
Nepeta musinii (try to find white flowered one)
Gray santolina
Lavender
Anaphalis triplinervis
Masses of wormwood (Artemisia 'Powis Castle') for "silk"
Miscanthus 'Morning Light'
caryopteris
Lychnis coronaria alba
perovskia
To me, buddleias have a silvery cast - am looking forward to rooting cuttings of white Buddleia davidii from Woodspirit, and then pinching off all side shoots up to 4' and letting the top pouf out (with pruning to keep the pouf thick). This is great in a small garden because you can grow flowers right up to the trunk - see white annual flower suggestions below

For partial shade:
Japanese painted fern (Athyrium nipponicum)
Woolly apple mint (be careful - very hard to route out of the garden when established)
Blue hostas
Masses of Plectranthus argentate (silver pebbled effect - takes shade) (not hardy)

Tender plants:
Salvia chamaedryoides
Teucrium marubium

More white flowers:

white annuals:
sweet alysum (self-sows)
dwarf white cosmos
white 4 O'Clocks (self-sows)
Salvia coccinea alba
white cleome (self-sows)
Moonflower

white perennial flowers:
white violas
Kalimeris (late bloomer)
white oriental poppy
Cimifuga 'Elstead' (one of those purple leaved bugbanes - brings drama to the shadows)
white iris (very dramatic when contrasted against purple sage)

bulbs:
tuberose
white lilies

vines:
white clematis (Autumn clematis is later, fragrant, clouds of tiny, scented flowers; very long vines)

shrubs:
white crepe myrtle (I would stay away from Lagurstroemia 'Natchez', unless you want to reduce your garden to a "...green thought in a green shade..." (Andrew Marvell) - L. 'Acoma' might be a better choice - high pruned like the buddleia)

Hope you make a moon garden and send us pictures - karen

Snboyken, guess what googling brought in with the cat: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/477725/
DG sure gets around :-)

How much space do you have? kind of light? nearby structures/woody plants/etc.?

What's your favorite plant? garden style? do you have those hot, humid summers notorious to the south? (I don't know what kind of mountains KY has, but if you're above the clouds, that could help)
