what do you want from Christmas?

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Yes, yes, I'll donate my kidney stones! I have several in baggies (since I must collect them). And I have more to shoot out. Where do I send? I'll even pay the postage on them! I don't know the "fair market value" of them, but you're welcome to them all--in the spirit of Christmas.

BC ROTFLMAO
You are a good soul to share!!

BC, my BIL was dating a woman...and she was intent on getting a ring from him. He told her he had a special ring in mind and the stone was one of a kind.....his kidney stone he made himself! Thankfully that relationship didn't work....but we know when he is not serious about a girlfriend now, he offers her his kidney stone "diamond" LOL

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Debbie, that's so funny! When I had the CT scan done that revealed the stones, the xray tech said one of the stones is the size of stone any woman would be proud to own, as he pointed to his ring finger.

Honestly, I've already gotten my Christmas presents early this year. I had a large tumor, which had caused a lot of problems, removed in March and it turned out to be benign. And in October I had lithotripsy to bust up the stones that had been hurting me for years. So I can't think of anything else I really want. I probably wouldn't even want to "own" George Clooney for long, but he sure is purty!

Butterfly, that is something to be thankfull for. I am glad that went well and your on the mend. My brother in law (the same one) has a jar full of stones he has kept over the years. He is young also (late 30's) and has such a problem with them. He is in the hospital at least 1 or 2 times a year to get them blasted.

Tumors of any kind can be frightening, I know the ordeal you have gone through. My youngest daughter, who is now 15, had cancer when she was 3. She has been in remission 11 years now, we are so thankful. Yes, she has long term health problems, but we just take it one day at a time.

I like George Clooney in the Ocean's 11 movies and all...but give me Alan Jackson or George Strait to look at or listen too....and I am a happy camper! LOL

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

How horrible for your bil!! Did the doc tell him to cut out salt and sugar to help prevent the stones? Dehydration also plays a factor in creating stones. I'm sure he had his stones analyzed to see what lifestyle changes he could make. For me, I have already cut out the salt and now I'm working on the sugar. So keep the chocolate away from me. LOL

They say if the cancer is gone for five years, you're cured. I hope it's true for your daughter. Did you know that, once again, sugar plays a role in tumor creation? I hope your daughter remains cancer free.

BC

I just want to thank everyone so VERY much for your generosity in offering me all your unwanted body parts to off-set the cost of this marvelous machine I'm wanting for Christmas. LOL I can't believe the kindness of my DG friends! :) Butterfly, am glad to hear you're on the mend now. I've never had kidney stones, but know they are very painful.
Debbie, I have read on another thread about your daughter. I am so glad she had a miracle. I can't imagine what that must have been like for you to watch her go through that.
Carat, your body parts are welcomed, also. Y'all are such a generous lot of folks! :-D
Hugs to each of you.

How many kidney stones would it take to build a rock garden? I don't have any, just curious. I also have an excess of butt suet that I could donate, especially for people who need the extra insulation in the colder states. They allow you to donate skin for burn victims, why can't we donate fat for those poor pathetic fashion models who could cut you to pieces with their elbows and clavicles? They are a danger to themselves and others, we could help them! And if they can inject people's lips with fat to make them beautiful, why not OUR fat? A service to mankind, or rather womankind, is what I'd call it.

DGers all seem to be animal lovers, with lots of pets. Isn't all that excess hair good for something?

I have lots of ideas along similar lines....must be the liquid diet....LOL

Lyndonville, NY

Thanks so much BC, Shannon had ALL (Leukemia) and now has dilated cardiomyopathy from the chemotherapy. We found that one out in April, we were warned of the possiblilities, but if didn't give her the medication/chemo she wouldn't be here now. Yes, she is an amazing miracle. Her mouth right now is right up there in adolescent 15 year old girl mode! And when she starts I remind myself of the miracle she is! LOL

My brother in law has a problem with calcium. I know he also can't drink tea. I am not sure on the other things eliminated from his diet.

Meezer, the stones are so tiny (although they don't feel it passing them) it would take millions to fill a garden! LOL I do however like your ideas of donating the fat and extra skin. I could supply an entire hospital I think! LOL

I do know of someone that collects the pet furr after brushing their dogs and uses it for plant fertilizer of sorts...not sure how that works, but she collects a bag full and goes outside with it. There are times she goes to the hair salon and gets hair too! Hmmmmm

What an interesting thread this has turned out. Back to what we want for Christmas? I still have no idea!!

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

These threads remind me of the old birthday party game where someone whispers in another person's ear and by the end of the line the whole message is totally different. LOL

Well, I want to add that I'm truly blessed and have the important things in life. The reason why I want this is to make me more independent as grocery shopping is such a pain. LOL When me and the DH get home ... there's all those groceries that have to be labeled before they can go in the cabinet. Now that everything has a barcode anyway, and I can store the info on my talking computer ... well ... it just SOUNDS like such a handy dandy thing. I am sooo blessed to have a DH to help me ... one that is kind and my best friend as well as my DH. Hmmm, didn't mean to hijack the thread again. Just had to say that while gagets are nice ... they don't keep you warm at night! LOL :)

IO1, that software is $649.00... I wonder if we raised half of it by donations (I'm NOT suggesting it's charity), maybe Danny could manage the other half? Wouldn't that be a great Christmas present?

And for us who might donate, what a gift for us just by helping. My best Christmas presents are the ones I give for myself like donating to the Food Banks and other worthy causes.

My goodness Darius ... I'm just dreaming! LOL :) You're sooo sweet to say such a thing.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Ahhh, but we ALL need to dream...

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

I think that is a wonderful idea Darius. I would love to give some for that present. But does that mean I have to keep the in laws as whole???

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

LOL, Casey... I'm afraid the In-Laws are forever yours.

Y'all, you are gonna make me cry now. I really really do appreciate you even thinking this. Your friendship is all I need. I have met so many wonderful people on DG ... even though I haven't *met* you in person ... each of you are special. Many Many thanks for your kind thoughts.
Hugs&blessings ... Elaine

I am so glad that I *stumbled* across this thread. You all warm my heart with generosity.

I have some material things that I want for Christmas,,,but,,,Santa lost my address a looooong time ago,,,so I too dream of wonderful *things*.

First of all I have much to donate in the way of excess baggage to all those poor starving models, about 50 lbs off each thigh/cheek and another 50 lbs off the rest of me,,,,I could *save* prolly 10 models.

Next, I have some not yet outlaws that I would be Happy to donate not just body parts but the people themselves,,,,lets see, how would, about hmmmm 5 people sound????

Casey, Sorry about having to keep the outlaws intack,,,,just send the people,,,LOL

*****As far as that most awesome sounding software for Elaine, sign me up. Seriously, does someone want to organize? If no one does, I will. That would be the most awesome thing to do for Christmas,,,,make someones Dream come true and make their life a little easier*****

Please let me know what you all want to do. I'm sure with the generosity of a lot of people on DG we could prolly git er done completely!!!!!! Wouldn't matter if someone could afford $1 or $100.

Also would take suggestions on how to organize such a project.

Kelly

GG, I am not sure how to go about organizing something like that on here, but tell me what you need and I will do my best.

I would never send anyone a complete inlaw. I wouldn't sleep at night knowing that I could inflict that kind of pain on another. Thats why I thought about sending in body parts to the software company. Various software companies would be great...

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Count me in for a donation but not as an organizer....I can't find my *** with both hands tied behind me but I think this is a super idea.

Who else????? Should there be a separate thread?

I'm watching this and reading this ... but I don't know what to say. This has never happened to me before. Please forgive me while I just struggle with this a minute?

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

I have a light stand on my Christmas list http://www.indoorgardensupplies.com/product_desc.cfm?SubCategoryID=46&CFID=175121&CFTOKEN=91807351 and I'm really hoping all the Santa's in my family chip in for it.....

Count me in too! I know I take my eyesight very much for granted.

Susan Elaine IO1, just let it be, okay? IF some of us decide we'd feel good by trying to pull this off, there would be a benefit for us and you so we'd ALL win!!

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Anita,

Sure is a beauty. I have a whole Professional Greenhouse on my Christmas list,,,LOL

Well, I guess I'll organize if that's o.k. with everyone else?????,,,however I would be very happy to hear any and all suggestions. New thread? Give me some input here Please,,,LOL

I'll look into the device and get a little ordering info on it and let everyone know what I find out.

Do we want to make it a donation of say $10.00 per person or just send what you can?
Do you want to have me order it, put it on my CC and shut off donations when we have enough,,,say,,,,around next Christmas,,,ROFLOL,,,no, seriously, I would stop when it was paid for or I would take donations until we had enough and then get it ordered. I would keep everyone updated daily as to the amount we were at.

Tell ya what, I'll start a new thread and we can get into particulars over there. I'll link it here.

Kelly, why don't I handle it? Donations of any amount, send to:

Darius Van d'Rhys

Archer FL 32618

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

I would love to contribute! What a lovely idea!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I will keep a spreadsheet of all donations, by whom, etc. and if we don't get enough, I shall return it all. Molly can be the overseer, 2 DG heads are better than one, LOL.

I also have a PayPal account if that's easier.

Kelly, will you still research the costs like shipping, etc?

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Sounds fine with me. I posted a thread at http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/559538/ .

Whoo-Hoo! Life is good!! Thank you IO1 for letting us do something that will make us feel good about ourselves this holiday season!

Darius - I've followed your posts and threads throughout my time at DG and I know you've been through your own trials. Bless you for getting the ball rolling on this. I don't have much in the $$$ column, but I want to make a special commitment here - THIS WILL HAPPEN! Please let keep me up to speed on our progress and I will do what I can to make up the difference!

God has been good to me, and I would like to share HIs blessings in any way I can!

I can't sit here and stay silent any longer. I really have no words that can adequately express or tell you what I'm feeling right now. Please just know that this is very emotional for me. Thank you, everyone ... thank you.

Well I am sure it will happen and I too would like to help just need to get Dh to let go of purse strings and see what we can do. Darius if possible could you let us know where we stand and what still needs to be given? Would love to see how far it has goe and what if possible I could be of help with!
((((Elaine)))))
Looks like santa is on his way!!!!!

Elaine,

You don't have to come up with words to express what you are feeling. God is working here and that is always a blessing for everyone.

Elaine, we wuv you! :)

If there is any extra collected, we can add some labels in, the prices on those are rather expensive also...and she will need a stash to start! One step at a time. I will do what I can, even if it gets a box of labels!

Maybe this is what I need to get out of this funky hole I am in. Blessings to you all

Debbie
