Putting nasty things in their holes?

I believe I have moles. The plants aren't dying yet, so it can't be voles. There are little tunnels and hills all over the yard. My husband goes out there everyday and stomps them all to death, but they persist. They like my collection of earthworms. I have earthworm heaven over here.

I've been reading all the posts and threads about moles and trying to get rid of them. The cat thing doesn't work here. The kitties aren't interested in moles. So I guess its going to boil down to putting nasty things in their holes til they go away?
