Afternoon everyone!
I'm alive and still kicking ... although not as high as usual. Turned in early last night and slept ... well, lets just say late today. :) No tricks during the night, though. Thanks again for everyone's concern. Got a few bruises and a headache .. but that should teach me to go wandering around in the dark, huh? ;)
First of all ... let me say hello to dmcdevitt ... soooo nice to have you here. Just pull out a chair, and if you can find something on the counter ... help yourself. I usually keep a pot of coffee on, but aren't much in the baking department, so you'll have to look to the rest for that.
MG, am sorry to hear about your DH's accident last night. Sure hope he's okay today. Bet he is sore, also. If drugs/alcohol WAS involved on the job by the other party ... I hope the necessary steps will be taken. People should entertain themselves at home ... not at the work place or on the roades. Okay, done with that topic. :)
Maria, glad to hear Samson is still doing so good with his training. Isn't it amazing how much companionship they offer. The DH had to put my girl in his office the other night when the EMT's came as she REALLY wanted to get at them BAD! She doesn't bite, but she didn't want them close to me.
Darius, am glad to hear you're getting your medical situation taken care of earlier than originally thought. That must be a relief to you. I hate having things hanging over my head. I can cope with anything as long as I know what I'm coping with. Glad to hear, also, that your DS is willing to help with your packing and moving. Maybe this will be just the thing to bring y'all closer? Never can tell.
Julie ... now where in the world are you? Hope you're still feeling okay. Miss your light hearted and humerous posts. They always make me smile. :-D
Oh, did y'all know that by clicking on a user's name it will take you to their homepage and from there you can send them a Dmail, see their fav web page, trade list, etc? That's a lot easier than going up to "member list". You can do that from any place on DG. Just didn't know if you knew that cause everyone wanted the link to McCool's webcite. Isn't that neat?
Ernie, sure hope your wife gets better soon. You sound like a very kind and loving DH to me. I'm sure you're doing a marvelous nursing job. It's so hard to be on that side of the "fence", you know. I really think it's harder on the loved ones than it is for the patient. Hang in there, okay? :)
To anyone I've slighted today, please excuse me. I've read every word. Kelly, I could REALLY use that appointment today as my hair is a total wreck.
Before I leave, I did want to comment on the bus incident ... however, I'm not sure it would be a safe topic. I'm still in shock over the entire incident. I'll post my comments at the proper place.
Hugs to everyone
... Elaine
Coffee and... For Friday Nov 18, 2005
Well, I have been out of touch today. DS's girlfriend stayed here while DS and DH moved some furniture for them. Hence, I got absolutely nothing done. And I hate days like that.
McCool, Hi, have looked briefly at your web site, am going back later to really browse.
Carat, thanks for the explanation on the silks. You had me baffled. And of the 2x4 arrived promptly and safely. Been used, it's in the corner should someone else want it.
Maria, thanks for the Indian Pudding description, and Darius for the recipe. Give Samson hugs from me.
Sarv, I laughed about your inside out pants. Sounds like you dodged the bullit with MIL. And Martha showing a man how to iron. Not in my experience. Where do you get the Burts bee stuff.
Viola Ann, hope you are somewhere having fun.
Susieq. Thanks for the explanation of stuffed peppers and spaghetti. Kids don't acquire the taste skills to like grown up food for several years. Sorry about your MIL and dinner.
Meezer, got that old back ache again. Stay on the heat, and rest. And hurry and finish the sewing, so you can get a permanent fix.
Darius, It was cold here today too. Had a 50 degree difference between, Tuesday and Wednesday. I like to get used to it slowly. Happy packing.
MG, how is DH. I have also posted on the forum for the bus incidents.
GardenGeek, can I make an appointment for a hair cut. Mine has decided to stick up all over my head. Maybe cut it shorter, and I will just use gel on it.
DMCdevitt, welcome. Loved the picture of the horse. You have been given the definition of GOB, so just help yourself to the goodies on the counter, and tell us all about you, and you will fit in fine.
Mary did you get your tomatoes done?
DR, did you give your son a big hug and kiss? Several huh.
Magoobu, thanks for checking in.
Eweed, my DH does not even attempt the nurse thing. If it is really bad, he will take me to Dr. or hospital, but is not comfortable doing much for me.
Balvanie, if you haven't been to Las Vegas since 1950, you wouldn't know it. Even if you skip a year, it has changed so much. Thanks for the web page for the recipes. That is just what I needed, something else to make me stay on here longer||!!
Babs, have a good time tonight.
Happy, welcome back. Don't you just hate being without internet.
101 Glad that you are feeling better. I know the reaction of the dog, not wanting anybody close to you. They are such loyal critters.
Well, I am making chicken stirfry, salad, baked potato and garlic bread. Have plenty, come help yoursef.
I will check in after I get the kitchen cleaned, later this evening.
Hi all, the jars of tomatoes are on the counter, haven't heard any pings yet but that nice musical sound will start soon as they cool. I've also got a bread pudding in the works. The day got kind of overcast when I expected sun all day but at least there is no wind. I haven't looked at the weather forecast. Sure hope we don't have a storm coming, there is still lots of things to do before winter hits.
Dcat, I have seen the Burt's Bees products at health food stores. They also carry non allergic soaps and other lotions and things like that. Burt's has a website too so just do a google search and see what other products they make.
ViolaAnn, I sure wish I could come to your concerts! Recordings are good but nothing like being there!
Eweed, how's your wife? Better I hope. I'll keep her in my prayers.
Babs, it's always good to see you. Have fun at the dinner tonight. Is it a real dress up thing?
Magoobu and Hap, nice to see you too.
Where's Julie? Blushing 'cause of all the fun she had here a couple of days ago? JOOOOOOOLIE... Where are you? We miss you.
Time to go outside. Let that bread pudding cool awhile before you dig into it. Ummmm, I find it hard to take my own advice on bread pudding.
Boy that bread pudding sounds great....Haven't had a good one in ages....
What Hurricane Wilma did not destroy, the landscaper is doing it. He is in the midst of taking down one of my big coconut pams and the top with all the coconuts and big leaves just landed in a colues bed. Oh well.....More cuttings I guess. AND he's not done. He has to severaly cut back my traveler's palm because most of them are bent in half and will die anyway. I just put in a pretty little, note I said little, ginger which is now right in his path. Geesh....will it ever end.
Hap
Oh, Hap, does the man not understand you have lost enough??? My wishes for you little ginger plant.
Mary, I love bread pudding, and yes I too have burnt my tongue many times not waiting.
Defo, my friends and family all know they better have on their running shoes if they are coming over and I am not expecting them. I will just continue with what I need done. If they want to talk then talk and walk....
I managed to get all the silks back in place, the kitchen cabinets have been washed and oiled, and the stove is clean. Yahoo...
You all are just too busy for me! I've been gone most of the day to Madison with a friend. After we got home we went foraging for berries (not to eat, but to use as natural dyes.)
Sarv -
It used to be when I walked across the carpeting you could hear me coming with the ripping of the carpet - now I just glide across with little noise.
MG - Good to hear DH is alright. Hopefully he won't be too bruised.
MDVT - Welcome! Hope you're a speed reader! ;-D
Everyone - have a wonderful night!
Jody
well I have a huge salad here so not very exciting gonna run over to Dcat' for that great dinner!!!!
Carat my friends always say just find a seat in Anne's house no matter what is going on-- stay out of her path just chat hang out and only switch rooms if you can avoid running into her from one to other.
Have y'all seen Tropical Storm Gamma? Supposed to make Hurricane strength and follow Wilma's path across south Florida. Can you believe it? Man, what a year for hurricanes!
Darius, I saw that last night. So it has been upgraded to a T storm.. Gosh what is it with this weather?
Darius, just saw it on my news......what is happening to this world anyway? BTW....welcome to Florida...lol
I guess I shouldn't be to concerned about the gardener......Gamma coming......
Nite George
Casey, info. on the Weather Forum...
Hap :^((((((
dmcdevitt - welcome. Nice area - Schroon Lake. Remember visiting it a few times as a child when I was living in Warrensburg.
MG - sorry about your husband. Also sorry for skimming so fast that I missed it wehn you first mentioned it. Hope he heals quickly.
sarv - the beauty of Aquafit is that you're probably unlikely to get the bathing suit on backwards, and if you do, you've got it off before you go for coffee. The tricky part is when you forget to pack your towel or your underwear in the swim bag. LOL
defoecat - was at work all day. Fun? Well maybe, except for dealing with the d*#m Christmas Exchange referral forms. Will be a busy weekend with 4 orchestra rehearsals for the Ottawa Symphony concert on Monday. At least Daphnis & Chloë will be finished by them. Probably the last time I'll have to play it as no amateur orchestra would attempt it and my days with the OSO are probably numbered. Might last till I'm 65, but that's only a few years.
Mary - thanks for wishing you could come to one of the concerts. ;-)
Ann
Elaine - I just had a look at your site. I had no idea you were so talented. Lots of interesting stuff. Don't get that way often, but I'll be sure to stop in if I do.
Ann
Hi Viola, it's exciting that someone knows this area! Warrensburg is the big town!!
defoecat,
Take a breath,,,LOL,,,
Sure,,,,,Haircuts all around, just sit in the chair,,,when someone gets out,,,next person sit down..
Check back later
Kelly
great I need a cut too!!! Must have missed the haircutting here... just after the food lol
Does anyone do color? My roots have reached my ears!!
(I can wear a wooly hat for the next few months if not)
Thank you all for your concern about my dh. He has a couple of nasty bruises, and was extremely stiff and very sore when he got up this afternoon. His left hip seems to be bothering him the most. He will heal up fine I'm sure, and drive me nuts in the process moaning and groaning, lol. He's a big lug, but I love him most of the time.
I do have another problem it seems. My bus thread was locked because I apparently violated the "no current events policy". I reread the AUP, and I can't find any mention of this policy there, or in the FAQ. Is there another place I need to be aware of? Or is this more of an unwritten rule that no-one told a newbie about? I didn't mention politics or religion, carefully worded my post to stay "G" rated, provided the link so it could be verified, but I still broke the rules. I really don't want to get banned or anything like that, so I need to KNOW about these rules. Someone PLEASE help me out here?
Darius, Gamma needs to go away. Period.
mg
mg,
I can still get to your thread from the link.
Kelly
Kelly, it wasn't deleted, just locked to further comments. For which I am very grateful! At least other parents have the opportunity to see what happened and can ask about the security in their local area. But I just can't figure out the rules.
mg,
Oh, I C,,,,didn't read down that far. Sorry about that thread being closed
Kelly
I was surprised too - I mean, Gamma is also current events...so is november weather....or snow. It did not seem to be political debate.
MG I saw that I do not get it either. You did not post anythig that one could not see in the new. But may I say If they did not see it in the news (as I did not) they and I am thankful and grateful (as a parent of bus riding kid) that you brought it to my attention. I intend to approach our school board about it to ensure safety and "no copycats" (we know how that happens)
Pull your thread that is fine but what you were giving was very important information to help us all be aware that this could happen to us!!! A warning I for one am grateful for!!!
I am not trying to get into trouble heavens knows! but this was not political this was human lives! Vandalism? WHAT ??? This was the worst of the worst and it needed to be told to those who may not have seen or read about it.
I for one am on guard here now-- Thank you for taking the time to inform us all MG,
Anne
Well, got the kitchen cleaned and read for awhile, finished a book, so I think it was a productive evening.
MaryE. you have been so domestic today. The tomatoes, and the bread pudding. My DS makes a bread pudding and a sauce that has a touch of bourbon in it, it is very good. Wish I had some now, not that yours isn't good. Thanks for that taste.
Happy, Sorry about the landscaper, but look at it in a positive light, think of the space that you will have to plant some new things.
Carat, I was expecting DS and girl friend to stop by, just wasn't expecting to have a prolonged visit. It's a good thing that I like this girl!! Your OCD makes me tired. Kitchen cabinets and the stove in one day--with me won't happen!!
Jasmerr, I miss you when you are not around. Don't be a stranger.
Magoobu, supper was good, did you get enough to eat?
Darius, Gamma, saw it on the news, when do you think hurrican season will be over? February? Are you rethinking Florida?
ViolaAnn, I too, would like to attend a performance. Would not be able to tell you what you played, but would love the sound of the music.
GardenGeek, do you think you could fix this "stick up syndrone". I have gone to the same beautician for years, and she got it a little short in the crown area, and it just sticks up. Any advice, besides super hold hairspray, until it grows?
dmcdevitt, I laughed about your color. If you have to wear the hat, you will be in the right season. Just think what a strange sight you would be in July?
MorningGayle, I am still sort of new, so don't know about the rules. I didn't see anything out of line with it. I think it falls under "the public's right to know."
Someone posted several threads ago a website that I could go to to get the latest on Desperate Housewives. I thought I had added it to my favorites, but evidently didn't. Can you post it again. This black family is driving me nuts. Can't figure it all out. And I sure hate to be in the "not know".!!
Where is julie? Do you think that after her manic episode the other day, that she has fallen into the depressive mode? J U L I E, Where are you? Come on out, gosh I have done worse and not a drop to drink. We will cheer you up if that is what you need, or cry with you also. Just tell us, and we will do it.
Well this post has been way too long, but darn it, I have to say something to everybody. But I will go chill somewhere, and will check back in, after the news.
Dcat thanks i am full wonderful meal!!!
I too would love the Desperate housewives thread link I get Lost in it as much as I do in "Lost"
LOL
All have a wonderful night I do so miss being able to be more apart of things just getting caught up in holidays etc...
May I just send out a special hello to sweet Maria and my buddy Samson!!!!!!
I may not get to read all or comment but I need to stay in contact with my dear friend that welcomed me here to coffee and make sure to give her and that gorgeous pup a big wave and a kiss!!!! :-)))))
Love to you all,
Anne
Ain't she special?
YES she sure is!!!!!
defoecat,
Only other thing for that colic is good old fashioned spit on your fingers and push it the way it grows. Will just have to let it grow so the length pulls it down. Sorry couldn't be more help,,,,
have run into Julie in some other threads,,,last I saw her she was racing through garden catalogs and trying to decide what she wanted to get,,,LOL http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/550171/#new
Kelly
Well, I must say ... everyone sure has been quiet here tonight.
defoecat, sounds like we have the same problem with our hair, also. I just can't seem to get folks to leave that part long enough. It always wants to stand straight up. I look like a kid most of the time if I don't threaten my butician. ;)
magoobu, you are a special person to have around, also. But you're right ... everyone loves Maria and Samson. :)
Well, it's late so I think I'll say good night. If I've missed speaking to anyone today, please forgive me. It wasn't intentional. I always enjoy every post and get many a smile.
Hugs to all ... Elaine
Elaine good night to you and all!!!
You are all very special in my Heart!
Gotta get some sleep though got early karate for son!
Night sleep tight.
Anne
Hi,
Just a quick check-in as I have to go finish wrapping up the last batch of candles before I collapse. 5 o'clock wake-up time tomorrow, yuck! I'll never be a morning person (unless we're talking go to bed at 3 AM and get up at 1 PM or so!) Big craft fair tomorrow, please wish me luck.
Thanks again for all the kind comments on my website --- didn't mean to make people work at finding it, but didn't think I was supposed to post it here.
Mg, I had no idea we weren't supposed to post or discuss information like that you posted about the bus incident! Live and learn, I guess. I hope you're feeling better in all senses by now. Please keep us posted about that,at least.
Another hurricane? Geeze, I guess I missed the reports about that. Hope everyone here stays safe. Weather patterns are changing and we all have to watch out.
Ernie, I forgot to mention before ---- loved the picture of Jenny sleeping half in her food bowl! Poor thing was tuckered out from eating so much, hmm? We have a cat named "Slim" (Hah! What a misnomer.) who is determined to make up for the starving time before he found us by eating every cat treat in the universe.)
Welcome dmcdevitt, meant to say that before but was not completely "with it". Love the filly. I'm sure you'll lilke it here. I'm pretty new myself.
Hi dcat, M5, julie (wherever you are), Casey, Maria, Ann and Anne, 101, Hap, Molly, darius, GardenGeek, Robert, sarv, suzieq and whoever else I'm sure I'm forgetting. Have to finish working and try to get at least a couple of hours of sleep. See you tomorrow!

Nope...I'm not depressed and I'm not ashamed or embarrassed because of my 'manic' posts, so I'm not blushing. :-) Yes...I was racing through a couple of seed catalogs...and I did keep up with the posts in here. I was thinking about all the people in this thread that have some big things going on in their lives...I was thinking about Elaine and her accident...and Gayle's husband and her all nighter at the ER and that horrible bus vandelism. (Gayle...I'm only going to say (((( ~hugs~ )))) about the closed thread...but that's *NOT* all that I'm thinking! If you can read between the lines, you already *know* how I feel about it.)
Soooo...Hi to *Everyone* and I hope everyone has a good night's rest.
Tomorrow's DAILY is UP in the PARKING LOT.
Here's a link if you need it

Sorry all thought I posted about Linda she had rotator cuff surgery to repair about a 2 inch tear she probably got beating me again lol.
Babs lol you come here and take over this is out of my class. I did not do very well drying her hair I did not move the dryer at first and made her head hot enough she said ouch lol. When I got it combed it didnt look to good but even though she felt better.
Mary I found it and will answer it tomorrow when I am rested lol you type fast I would say that is a book to me .
Robert they are arent they lol Goldens love to mind usually. Ernie
McCool, Good Luck and lots of sales at the craft show
Julie, Its good to know you are suffering from any ill effects from your manic attack. Missed ya though.
Defoecat, I make you tired??? That is calling the kettle a name. I start thinking of excuses not to do things after I read all that you do. I figure that you have covered it for both of us..
elaine, glad you are feeling better.
Anne, I didn;t mark that site either. I had more questions about LOT when I was done reading that I figured I was safer not knowing..
Ernie, get that thing out of her mouth. When I smoked and Cleo was a puppy she ate a pack of my cigs. She was so sick and had to spend a night in the puppy hospital.
I too must have missed why your wife was down. You need to stay within range when she is swinging the 2X4 at you, how insensitive. I hope she is up and swinging again soon...
Good Night all see ya on tomorrow thread.....
Hey Gardengeek, the language police are going to come for you if you call a cowlick a colic! A cowlick is that little swirl of hair at the crown of your head that wants to grow in a different direction than the rest! That's why you see moms spitting on their little boys, it's not abuse, it's taming the swirl. Unless they are spitting on their hankies and scrubbing their dirty faces.....do mothers still carry hankies or is everything handy wipes now?
I'm going to tomorrow, since it is.
Thanks M5.....I thought it was a cowlick also....BTW. who ever invented the name cowlick? A cowlick is a block of salt....yes? Where's Darius...she'll know. DARIUS>>>>>>>>>>>>>where are you???????
I think it's because of that little swirl that cows have on their foreheads where their hair meets between the horns....but I could be wrong. A salt lick is that big block of salt they put out in the field for them. We used to go lick it too. Stupid dumb kids! We also used to touch the electric barb wire fence to get a little shock. After the cow riding incident,we were banned from the pasture. LOL
Yeh, I'm guilting of all the above. Better than licking crack as some kids do now!!! Oh, how simple our lives were then.
