Magoo, her real spot is next to the voodoo doll I have that is a replica of my secretary at work. Complete with pins, needles, and a rope around her neck. She is hanging out here on the couch until I go back next week. They moved our offices. I didn't want the delightful secretary to missplace either of them..
Coffee and...For Nov. 8, 2005
Well, if you have brushetta ... I'll brave whatever you have. Love the stuff!
Know what you mean about the vet visits, magoobu. My vet always picks my girl up for me. When they come, she runs and hides. It's very embarrissing. Guide dogs are suppose to obey commands! She doesn't get car sick, although I did have to go buy a carpet cleaner as she is a lab, and anyone who has a lab knows they are mouthy dogs. Will eat absolutely anything. Then ... when she comes in ... well, enough said. ;)
carat - the salmon would probably be okay, in moderation, but , sorry, the cheddar, regardless of color, is still dairy! Just keep repeating to yourself, as you *follow orders*, this, too, shall pass.......
Hope all ills for all suffering shall also pass.
Maria - I'm with you - no dogs on the bed! (We won't talk about cats - right?)
No cats eithe, tgif, funny thing, we always had cats and dogs, lost count of how many, but never one of either animal was allowed in anyones bed.
One sumer, we allowed some friends, bringing their cats along, to use our farm in New Hampshire, while we visited my family in Europe when we came back to check our house there, it only took about 5 minutes when we were covered with flees, called the exterminator right away and had to leave, of course taking some flees with us. My youngest was so chewed up they atacked him at once ore than the rest of us. he needed medicine, since he was allergic to all kinds of bites from bugs and for days I had to give him oatmeal baths.
And then, around here we have quite a population of ticks, my neighbor has Lyme disease now for 15 years and has been very illl , Dr. thought at first it was MS but it resulted from just from one ugly bite by a tick
So you know the reason why I do not want pets in my bed.
Oh Maria good points!!! we too have the ticks out here I have to have shots for the dogs and the frontline too. keep them within the fence and grass cut low so as to help with the deer ticks it has worked--- so far.
But my Mother an avid gardener living in a densely wooded area has Lymes and it is not fun!!!
Just got back from taking my Izzie cat to the vet. The lump is a fatty tumor and should be ok. Just have to watch it and make sure it doesn't change.
Carat- take care of yourself. If you wan't someone to lose the weight for you I too will volunter.
Have a london broil in the oven, garlic roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts. Just waiting for the gang to get home for dinner.
I don't usually have any of my pets in the bed. Except when DH works at night (not very often). Then I wake up with at least the dog and 2 out of 3 cats in the bed.
Okay I started a thread somewhere in the garden foes area about this. I know NOTHING about ticks, and all the issues that go with them. So you all that have info please go post there and tell me everything so I am prepared for this. Now this is assuming that they have ticks in SC. Woods, trees, deer I am thinking they do....
I am having grilled chicken but the rest of the family is having london broil. I had it laying out before Dr said no red meat. Having garlic and parsley roasted taters and asparagas on the side. Not making dessert because all that comes to the taste buds is cream pies and wonderful dairy products. These restrictions are alot harder then you would think....
how do you stay so thin eating all the good stuff!!!!
Is anyone able to get into chat?
Am I there?
HELP!!!
NOPE MG it is not working!!!!
oh good - thought something was wrong with THIS computer now.
oh Wood what fun good for you!
Yes cannot get into chat at all!!!
oh that is going to be fun!
Reply to Chat 911 thread in Dave's Forum please.
Otherwise he will think I'm just panic ing!!
GRRR I'm in the house by myself, I have my dinner, soda, and a snank all sitting in front of me, and NO CHAT!!!
*dang* (use your imagination at the real word, lol.)
Pictures and notes woodspirit. I am getting one if I have to sell the kids when we move....
So very cool....
Hey how far away is Lake Toxaway from York SC?
Something is amiss. When I clicked on the greenhouse construction pic it enlarged as usual, but when I clicked my 'back' button it took me back to bu's pic of Henry at 7:42 am instead of woods 4:27pm post. Is it just me ? That's going to be a neat GH woods.
Anyway, I brought 35 of the Brugs into the sunroom today, have another dozen or so pots still outside, but they are the big ones. Rain stopped for most of the day so at least a little clean up was done.DW did some Christmas shopping and bought for all the kids in the family, even had them wrapped at the store. 'Spose I better start thinking about what to get her for the Holiday.
Maria, I love my little kids and although Tinker remains somewhat aloof, Imari is a little snuggle-bug. Immy sleeps on my lap, in my arms or anywhere else she wants, but at night they both go to their crates and sleep behind the closed doors. Being right next to my bed we know where we are so it isn't like they were put out somewhere. I wouldn't want them on the bed either. (they can use our old furniture as they wish though)
Oh Bal that is my secret way of getting henry's picture seen twice!!
ROTFLOL
Did that really happen??
Maggie bu "blu", remember your 3 posts to the 911 thread? Same time frame, so who knows what else was going on.
Bal, great to see you, Immy is such a little darling. I guess I didn't realize you had so many Brugs, wow. I'm just starting with that obsession. I have 4 rooted(!!) cuttings.
Woodspirit, I can't wait to see the finished greenhouse and I bet you can't either! Can I ask a q tho? What is a "spousal unit"?
Congrats on the greenhouse - green with envy here! Still dreaming for one!
IO1-thanks for the explanation on the backwards 's'. Lerae told me today that her computer braille uses it for a smile. Heard of that before? I paid her a great compliment without realizing it - asked her to check my white spot on my head and then realized what I said! LOL We had a good laugh over that - major duh on my part!!!
Well ladies, I just had my first 'squeeze' of the womanly part of the anatomy and it didn't hurt at all, but it did feel rather odd to have another woman squeeze and manipulate them babies into position! Weird contraption!!
And the good news is that my blood sugar is low, 105; bone density is excellent, 0.3; and cholesterol is thru the roof and then some, 286!! Very, very bad! Dr. wants me on meds and I guess I'm going to have to grow up and realize I can't eat everything I ever wanted to eat. So, what is the best diet for lowering cholesterol? It is the AHA diet or WW or a diebetic diet? Where's darius, bet she knows. PLEASE??
Have a restful night all and Carat and whoever else was sick, I hope ur better soon. U too bal!
A greenhouse, oh boy! Gnashing my teeth and pulling my hair out, consumed with envy!! that's going to be wonderful! Maybe he's thinking you'll spend less time on DG??? lol
Babs, it takes a real long time to catch up if you miss a day! You sure have been busy, hope you got a long snooze in to make up for your lost sleep. The night job sounds like ........boringgggggggg.
DR, sounds like good progress for your DD. May it go well and continue in a positive direction. Went through it with my DD, step mom, birth mom....often wondered where my siblings were because they sure weren't helping.
Lunch was very nice, quite a few of us who worked together managed to snag a table for eight, although it's hard to have a conversation with 800+ people all talking at once. They had entertainment, a couple who played Irish folk tunes and some old bluegrass. They made a lot of uhhhh....sound... for only two people. Fortunately my parking meter was running out and I managed to escape. Came home and started to turn over some dirt for bulb planting, but it got dark so early I didn't get anything in the ground.
Henry looks adorable with his gaps!! He'll forget about it in a few days and you;ll get real smiles! Then those other big teeth will show up and you'll wonder if there's room for them!
That was a fast bug Sarv, I hope if it travels around here that's the one I get. I hate being sick. I always think I'd be getting so much done if I weren't flat out feeling lousy...I wouldn't but I like to fool myself!!
Carat, my house is pretty neat, but I neglect the unders, behinds, the windows and big jobs like that, sometimes I can get DH to help but I'm good at ignoring it. It looks ok if you don't look too closely. Keeps the germs away....!!
Oh!! Ugh!! Found a dead mouse in the middle of the area rug in the living room, and Souky prancing around like a monkey, so she must have been the one who caught it. Time to put sticky traps in the garages, and outside the entryways..these are field mice who look for a winter vacation inside where it's warm. I took a picture and sent it to DH at work, so he could see what I have to deal with when he's not around!!!
Gonna turn off the computer tonight, supposed to get 60 mph winds and thunder/rain etc. Crazy weather. Night to all, see you tomorrow.
Say good night Gracie.....

Mg you are so right!!! things are odd here tonight maybe that is the winds blowing M5 around! Stay safe there and batten down the hatches.

Maggie-Mags- Blu- Bu
M5, you under a severe storm watch too? I am, and just north of the tornado watch area. In November? What the heck is going on with the weather around here?? Sheesh!
I guess I'm never leaving.
Yes, we are getting warnings on the tv about it...it's November for crying out loud!!
I hate to think what January will have in store for us. *shudder*
Yuck yuck I hate mice! I'm afraid I'd be leaving it there for my DH.
Kooger, I'm not familiar with the computer Braille smile. I only know grade 2 Braille and my numbers ... no math, computer codes, etc. I'm doing good to read the stuff ... especially now with all this talking stuff around me. Really has me spoiled! I do use Braille to mark my canned goods, CD's and a few things like that. I've even gotten lazy about sending myself emails instead of making Braille notes, though. Just don't want all that paper around. :)
Everyone stay safe with all those high winds and horrid weather around.

Just stopping a moment cheating Darius of some time. We went out to the Everglades and visited today with Cyberageous. She has such a wonderful collection of trees and plants. I came away with an Avocado, key lime, guava and 2 foxtail palms. Although she had a lot of hurricane damage, her gardens held up pretty well and she works hard every day out there.
I am enjoying Darius' visit tremendously, we never seem to run out of things to talk about. Right now she is out entertaining my son on the patio. Well, better get out there.
Molly
:^)))
Just checking in before I write a Food Cupboard letter. Will probably not have time to read all carefully.
Congratulations to Julie and DH.
Sorry to read that some of you don't feel well. Hope it is a short-lived bug.
Janie, I bet you'll look smashing in read and purple. Have you found a group yet?
Casey, hope those meds fix you up quickly.
Thee was a report that a mouse was seen at the Food Cupboard yesterday. We didn't see it this morning, but will keep an eye open. A mouse would have a great time there. Surprisingly, we've only had a couple in our 17 yr history.
Got all my cannas, callas and begonias dustsed with bulb dust and packed in peat moss for the winter. Cancelled a student so that I could have more time outside because the next couple of days are not supposed to be so nice.
Also got the pics of my finished retaining wall up on my web site.
The wall was finished about a week ago. I got the spring bulbs planted in the garden a few days ago.

Good night, all.
Ann
I am still amazed i am getting one. My spousal unit happened to notice he had a lot of glass around, some very thick heavy duty stuff used for shelving in a pottery shop we once had.
We are really doing this on a shoestring. We even gathered the sand for the cement on a bridge that loads up with it regularly. I stopped by a thrift store today to see if they had some windows and a storm door and hit a bonanza. We are going down there tomorrow. I think there are a couple of good ones that crank out for cross-ventilztion.
Some of the panes are now in place and I will get a picture of them tomorrow morning.
Carat, I have heard of York but can't think where it is right now. We are due north of Pickens where I go to the flea market from time to time.
Well, I know I won't remember or reply to HALF of what I'd like to, but here goes ....
Happy anniversary Julie!
Sarv, glad the yucks departed so quickly.
Casey, you already "sound" a bit better. How are you feeling? Hope the flu and associated baddies depart really soon! Also, I'm afraid that if you've got deer, it's a pretty safe bet that you've got deer ticks too. Use insect repellant and clothing that covers most all of you if you venture into the underbrush (or even longer grass!).
Kooger, I'm not an expert, but I can give you a few suggestions about cholesterol and diet. My mother's been on a low fat diet since she had a mild heart attack a few years ago. Fish and skinned chicken (particularly white meat) are mainstays. We generally buy only 93% lean hamburger. You can often use olive oil in place of butter in cooking (or sometimes, mostly olive oil with a teaspoon or two of butter for flavor) Fruits and vegetables are generally good choices. It seems that oatmeal can help lower cholesterol as well as being generally good for you. Soy products like veggie burgers and soy butter and natural peanut butter (not the hydrogenated stuff) are good ideas. I tend to use 2% milk and fat-free half and half in cooking and really don't miss the high fat originals. I'm honestly not too sure about the soft margarine that Mom swears by because of the trans-fat issue, so I can't advise about that.. If I think of anything else, I'll mention it some other time. Hope this helps some.
Hi Molly, glad it's working out so well between you and Darius. It looks like your plans for the winter will be great for all concerned.
Hi to Maria and Samson. I thought that his picking up his bed and moving it closer to you was pretty cute.
M5, oh yeah, mice. We used to rescue them if possible because we felt bad for the poor little things, but they'd just turn around and pop right back into the house and there's a limit to the population that this place can take! We had one cat that figured out that we'd probably take "her mouse" away and proceeded to swallow the thing whole. Yuck!
101, do you mind terribly if I use your username? We have the same first name and it feels like I'm talking to myself if I use it. You put me to shame with the things you manage to accomplish! It's already evident to me that you do a better job of cleaning your house without benefit of sight than I've ever done with two working (though very near-sighted) eyes. Oh well, so I'm domestically challenged.
I don't mean to leave anyone out, but the gray matter is starting to go numb. Hi mg and magoobu, I remember reading your posts, but d***ed if I can remember what was in them! Anyone I didn't specifically mention, please don't take offense --- brain just isn't large enough (or young enough!). Good night all.
According to Consumer Reports, the best deal on Olive oil is Goya; tastes good, not too expensive
McCool you did better then i ever have in catching up!!!
Koudos to you and all who do the same I always feel I am 10 steps behind but keeep on going LOL
Anne
