I am still up, Samson is right next to me in his bed, he justpicked it up and moved it closer, lol

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

LOL, next week he should be on the bed.

I am awake also. All the napping has me wide awake and starving again...oh yummy broth...

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Hi all,
Just wanted to say hi.
Am bringing my dad home tomorrow from the rehab. center.
He is walking a bit with a cane now but gets very tired fast.
So is progressing nicely.
My mother isn't so sure about all this so we shall see.
Drove up yesterday afternoon after working in the garden all morning. Got a lot done so was happy about that. Just have to get those dang bulbs in the ground when I get back.

Ernie, sorry to hear that you are sick. I thought about you when driving by the Bakerview exit around 8 pm last nite. Will maybe try to visit on Sunday, the 13th.

You guys sure are chatty nowadays. So can't keep up but did read them all but don't have time to comment.

Later, Carol (DR)

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Carol my best wishes to both mom and dad. I hope you have a little bit of time to relax and enjoy a hot cup of tea while you are there.

Silver Lake, OH(Zone 5b)

The bigger it gets the harder to comment. Don't be upset if I can't comment on everyone's hello's and good wishes. I appreciate all your comments and welcomes so much! I am getting ready for bed after a VERY long day. Going to hop in the spa before I try to sleep though. My muscles are all crampy - soon to be that time of the month. Ugh.

The spa really helps that part.

Well gotta go make my list of things to do for tomorrow.
Will see you all in the morning.

God bless you all.

His,
Janie

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

lol, Casey, no he won't going to have my way about this. just hope you are getting better very soon

Janie, don't worry if you can'r anwer evrybody, it's ok not to

Daisy, you ar such a good daughter mine would be just like that, right now they are sort of upset with me about takng care of Samson, worrying I may get hurt

Ok every one dream lovely dreams see you when the dawn appears
Maria

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Morning - I don't feel good....whaaaaa. Ear hurts, head hurts, stomach hurts - I want my mommmmm....Can bugs go thru cyber space??

Janie - getting your 'monthlies' - you must be a spring chicken...LOL Haven't had that in years and haven't missed it a bit...one of the better things about getting old.

Folks came out for a meat loaf/sweet pot/squash dinner. They will be leaving for Fla on Friday. I made it thru the meal without boohooing. We played a wild game of scrabble - I lost. In the first game one of us spelled a word wrong 'aed' (???), so we didn't count the score on that one.

Maria - I think Samson may be a bed fellow before too long...Your children will get over their worry once he is trained not to take you for a ride. How ya feeling by the way?? Any aches and pains?

Daisy - glad to hear dad is making progress

Carat- hope your ills are history today. I'd like to drop a couple of pounds, but not this way!!

Snow coming on Thurs. so that means I MUST get my three clematis in the ground and bulbs in TODAY. Why do I procrastinate so much!!

Yesterday DH and I each mowed, picking up all the leaves- they were so thick on the ground. We still have over half still in the trees, so we will have to do it again at least once. They are saying we will be getting severe storms tonight - yuck.

Well, I need to go veg out in a chair for awhile.... check in later...

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Yawwwwwwwwwwwn. Can't get used to this time change. Dozing off in front of the tv by ten pm, and I think DH woke up at 3:30 this morning, now he's asleep in the den sitting in the recliner!
If that flu bug travels through cyberspace, we are all in trouble. Hope Carat and Sarv, and anyone else who has it gets through it quickly.
I have a retiree's luncheon today and am tempted to wear one of those breathaing masks for protection because someone will surely be there complaining that they are ill!! Who said that? There are so many comments now I can't remember from Monday to Tuesday who said what!!

I'm trying to consolidate my errands so that I make fewer trips even though gas prices are down a little. It's also practice for winter when I sort of hunker down and try not to be out every day. Heating bills are going to skyrocket this year too, I hear as much as 70%. Our gas and electric are combined on one bill and it's a whopper. Even though they suggest turning off all tvs, computers etc, it is a nuisance when you have to reprogram to get them running again.

Wish Carat felt better so she could come and clean my house...I need to do windows and woodwork and I hate it. My golf partner's GD cleans to earn money for school and I'm tempted to have her come and do it for me.

Good morning to everyone. If I haven't mentioned you by name, be assured that I've read all the comments, munched on your treats, and laughed in the appropriate places....or not! And I don't believe that Samson will be allowed to get on the bed, even though he may try the "poor little puppy" look, Maria has determination and he will learn who is the "top dog" very soon! See you all later today.

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Good Morning! Just waiting for the dishwasher to finish. I hope the snow that Sarv is getting stays out west. I'm defiately not ready for that yet.

Another beautiful day here. Might be a good day to leave work early and clean up MORE leaves. Boss gives us 2 1/2 hours flex time every week. Sure helps when I need extra time for chores or errands.

Hope everyone that is ill feels better soon, and anyone still traveling have safe journey.

Have a great day!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Good Morning, every one!
What ever I had to say went poof, grrrrr
You are right, M5, Samson will never be allowed in my bed nor on any furniture, so far he has not even tried, I think he could sense this lol
I am sorry you do not feel well either, Sarv, I am much better now, thanks to 5 little pillls plus others, to get rid of pneumonia but still cough at times,
I hope Casey is better today, she really sounded sick.
I should go to the chiroprator, have not been since Samson, I have a big blue spot on my hip when he knocked me down but not as bad as when a golf ball hit me, some one did not yell 'fore' but I imagine it will hurt as the Dr. will push down on my hips.
Better get something to eat, all out of bananas which is my usual breakfast, guess I will have a piece of toast
Maria

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Good Morning ALL!!

Sorry to hear we have of our regulars under the Flu/cold/yuckky cloud this morning.

Carol (dr) I'm SO happy to hear that things are "progressing well" for your Dad and hope that your mom can handle everthing when they get back home. You really deserve a pat on the back for driving that long a distance...the caring part, I'm sure, comes naturally for you. (Sometimes I *really* wish I had had a daughter.)

Well...today is DH's and my 42nd Anni. No plans that I've heard of and since DH is *not* one for surprises, I'm sure it will be 'just another' day. Yesterday, we got the lattice panels on the carport then took a short 'road trip' just to pick up a few things in the next town and have a sandwich in a little cafe we like to eat at. (Read that..."It's CHEAP!" LOL)

My gardening has now moved indoors and I have a load of things that need to be packed up and stored. Sure seems funny to think that I'll be starting my winter container seed sowing in about 7 weeks. (Makes spring seem *really* close this year.)

That's all the news from this 'home front'.

Hope everyone is feeling better by the time you peek in here again.

Have a great day.

Do something nice for yourself and make it a happy day....!

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)

Good morning, GOB's and 'Ettes! I've spent the last 45 minutes catching up on the thread and have to say ya'll are a very busy bunch. I send my greetings to all those who are celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I also send my sympathies to those who suffer any malady, ailment, dental extractions, or injury today.

I'm making this short and sweet as I'm going back to bed. I only had 2.5 hours sleep as I put in 2 hours overtime at work last night and when I got home, the phone kept ringing for my hubby. He had three sailors in trouble for one reason or other and of course, he has to be informed, no matter what time of day or night. Ack!

Hugs to all and I hope everyone has a great day!

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well, congratulations to Julie and DH, sympathies to those ailing, smiles to Maria and Samson, DR glad to hear Dad will soon be home, thanks for being such a caring daughter!! I am changing bed linens today and washing them, vacuuming and dusting, just an ordinary day, but the sun is shining and the prediction of rain last night didn't materialize. Ordering some seeds today, maybe spring isn't far away!! NOT Well going to get butt back in gear, will check in later.

What gorgous eyes they distract from losing teeth

Good morning. It's sunny! and cold, 24 degrees this morning. What a change from the rainy and stormy yesterday. Looks like I will be digging the dahlias this afternoon when I come back from town. I haven't figured out where to store them or how to keep track of what names/colors they are. Last year they spent the winter on my basement table being misted about once a week, it wasn't good and I lost some of them. They all got planted but some just didn't come up. Now the table is full of tomatoes that are ripening and will soon need to be canned. They look ripe but are quite watery and not sweet, but will be good in spaghetti and soups.

Somebody said that I must be a dedicated gardener to be going out in the rain. The more I can get done this fall the less there is to do in the spring when I will also be using the good weather to get my horses into condition for the endurance season. The garden projects are always ahead of me, I never get it all done so have to keep working at it whenever I can.

Happy anniversary Julie. I guess by now you know not to expect a big to-do over it.

Carol (DR) I'm glad to hear that your father is going home. I hope all goes well and that your mother is able to cope with it all when she has full responsibility.

Mag, your kid's picture is cute. He still isn't sure he wants that big gap to show. Give him another week and he will be ok with it.

Maria, Sampson is so pretty! I'll have to check the pets forum for the rest of your pictures.

Hello to everyone else, have a great day. Catch you later.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

I'M BETTER!!! Felt really crummy for about an hour - how's that for a short bout of the 'ickies'-

Went to the work out joint- could hardly get my fanny in motion - probably didn't even burn off breakfast!! The into Target- I was sure I saw they had games 25% off. Drat- must have been some other ad. I just get so ticked at myself when that happens. Next to the grocery store. Only bought good things to eat (no oreos, although I did look at them longingly...) Now I'm home and put the frig things away. Rest can wait until later..

Julie - happy anny - that's one load of years!! Very few make it that long with just one!!

Maria- is that Samson's new bed I see in the pic? Looks mighty plush...

Mag- what a cutie. I just love kids (until they turn into teens) We need more in our family - I'm going to have to put a bug in a few ears...

Yawn, Babs go to bed...makes me tired just reading about your job.

Still need to plant 3 clematis and a ton of bulbs. TODAY IS THE DAY! Check ya later!!

Oh my goodness did I ever have a lot to catch up on! I didn't realize how much I'd miss everyone until I was tooooo busy to post. Couldn't wait to get back in here and see what all had happened since last night. I'm still struggling a bit ... putting the right name with the right comment, so please excuse if I get all tongue tied. I wanted to tell Kooger that the Braille sign you asked about last night is a "wh" sign It's a backwards "S" If it stands by itself ... it stands for the word "which". If it's in the middle of a word ... then it's just "wh". Does that all make sense?
Okay, now to everyone else ...
I hope everyone who is feeling poorly will feel much better soon. But please ... if you don't mind, when you cough or sneeze ... turn your head away from your screen so as not to send it across cyberspace. :)
For those of you who haven't figured it out yet ... I can't spell without a spellcheck and don't know if Firefox will work with my speech, so am chicken to download it. You'll just have to excuse all spelling errors and get your daily laughs from them! hehehe
Maria, I do wish I could reach through this monitor and give that big dog of yours a hug as he sounds soooo sweet and beautiful. Even though he's a handful right now, he sounds like he's wanting to please you ever so much and is just extremely friendly. Labs and goldens are like that. Labs are a bit calmer, I think. The biggest problem with a guide dog is everyone always wanting to pet, and of course ... she IS just a dog and LOVES to be petted. So, your big guy is just probably VERY friendly. ;)
Julie
Congrats on your anniversary. As I look around ... when you make it that many years ... you're definitely in the minority. Soooo, that's something to be real proud of. Y'all have a wonderful day.
Hope Darius and Molly are having fun together.
Carol, am glad to hear your Father is doing better.
I'm going brain dead now with names, etc. It's 79 here and sunny. Still hard for me to comprehend that cold weather. If anyone has any rain to spare, we really need some here in south GA. Haven't had any for over a month now.
I've been cleaning house ... all that yucky stuff ... vac, mopping, etc. Did laundry yesterday. Am going to sign off and get some lunch. Y'all have a great day. Will check on everyone later. :)
... Elaine

Silver Lake, OH(Zone 5b)

Good morning all! I know, it's almost noon - I'm doing my ADD thing and have about 6 irons in the pot right now. Plus, it's a day DH is home so... kind of subject to his whims.

Sarv, sorry to hear you are not well! YUCK YUCK YUCK. I pray you will heal quickly and completely.

Magooboo your child looks so much like you even without teeth. I just love their faces without their teeth, LOL.

Julie, happy anniversary to you and your DH! Hope you have a wonderful time.

Yep, I'm "young" will be celebrating my red hat birthday March 7 2006. Yayy! Going to make it a week long celebration with all those I love most. Looking for my purple outfit and red hat now.

Stuff on the list today:
1) put up my friend's "bag lady" dolls on ebay... here's a picture of one. :)
2) write articles for the local papers about our church's holiday activities
3) download movies for the backgrounds of our special candlelight piano concert featuring beautiful Christmas music in a relaxing atmosphere
4) practice music for the Christmas Music Spectacular
5) try to pull thistles out of garden (ugh!)
6) tonight is our Gideons meeting... nice dinner but have to dress up. :(

OH everyone is so busy here and the list is making me realize I need to get going on chores too!!! Gotta get house cleaned take Skillet to the vet etc....'
BUSY BUSY you all are!

Thank you for all the nice words about Henry he is getting better about showing off the teeth - or lack of---

Looks like me??? Oh how cute that made my day!!!
Will be back when I actually get some stuff done here to catch up again!!

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Had a busy morning here at work, Just finishing lunch break.

Magoo - What a cutie.

Julie - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Sarv - Glad your feeling better already.

JanieJoy - That doll is really cute.

Leaving work at 4:00 today to take cat to the vet. I felt a lump in her belly last night. It's about the size of a nickel. I lost one cat to cancer, so I'm a little anxious about this visit. Anyone every hear of a cat with OCD. This one obsesivley licks her fur until she gets bald spots.

Everyone have a good afternoon.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

SuzieQ that licking is an indication of allergies. Ask your vet about it.

I spent 10 minutes typing replys and it's out in cyberspace somewhere, if you see if flying by, grab it and post it for me will ya?

Just commented about Samson being so sweet and innocent looking, couldn't be the same dog who walks Maria on his leash. Magoobu, cute smiley face, (Henry). Give him a hug for me.

I am finished with my housework, and re-making the beds, so I am heading off to my mom's to see if she needs me to do anything for her. Julie, Happy anniversary, I too will be married 41 years in Jan. Don't expect a big "to do" over it either. I think we are still together because we are both too stubborn to leave!!

Will check in later.

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Sarv~I didn't share I promise...The doctors office called but I was sleeping, then I called them back and the receptionist said he wants to talk to me personally. But will do it over the phone. Okay, so I am reading it that I have something bad just not dying???? Doctors just annoy me....

Meezer~DH put gas in my Pilot yesterday and it was 2.79 for medium grade. And now they say its going to go back up again for the holiday. We haven't been below 2.50 in over 18 months. And I would come clean your windows and the rest of the house but one word of "where is this" and it will be worse then when I got there. LOL Magoo and I try to warn ya all, don't ever have a OCD person clean your house. We make anal people look messy. LOL

SNOW???? As in the white stuff in that Christmas song. OH I want to see that. Just once where it didn't melt within an hour or two and make our streets and road look black, grey and ugly. Don't get my wrong I don't want a three week blizzard snow storm or anything either.
l01, I am with you on wanting some different weather. It's suppose to be in the high 70's low 80's here today also but a bit overcast this morning.

Magoo, you have a beautiful toothless boy there. I miss that. Now I all I have is bratty teenage years to look forward too. Even my eleven year old is acting like he is 15. YUCK

Julie today would have been my parents 50th Anniversary. I hope you have many more to celebrate. Why don't you surprise him with a dinner at your favorite restaurant?? You deserve it.

Maria, Samson is a very handsome puppydog. He looks so happy. I am glad you two are together even if your kids don't like it. He is going to make them proud I just know it.

Well I am going to try the Doc again. He has really got me curious now. And then back to bed. My sleeping patterns are a mess and I am going to be a pain when I have to start working again next week.

Casey

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Defoecat:- I've had her to 2 different vets and both came to the same conclusion. Obsessive licking. I tried her with a kitty equivalent of xanex, but that didn't help, maybe even made her worse. I have been putting rescue remedy (from Health food store) in the water bowl and I think that has helped.

(Zone 8b)

Julie Happy Anniversary!
Carol (the other one) glad your dad is getting better and is well enough to come home.
Everyone else hi and hope all the bugs are soon gone - it seems to have come this way too!
Catch all you gassey GOBs later!

Have to run to the vet for Skillet - just routine puppy stuff-
but wanted to quickly say Casey please do let us know what the doctor says you have me worried I hate it when they say they have to tell you in person!!
OCD eople cleaning your house yes better watch out the worse thing is if we return and everything is all over the place again! FRUSTRATING to this breed of OCD.
We will clean it organize it straighten it BUT we want you to try very hard to keep it that way
ROTFLOL
be back later

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Afternoon - just got really going with cutting back all the geraniums I potted up when the phone rang. It was my mom, asking if they could come out for a hair cut (s.dad) "Of course" I said....they were just out last night to bring the soup bone.... So here they come-bringing me a caramel apple too. They left after a couple of hours and another game of scrabble which that darn mom won again!!

Now I'm taking a break. Still need to dig about 20 brugs, but need DH help with that and he is reading the newspaper right now.

Turned on some of the grow lights on my new stand and have most things snuggled up under them. Guess winter is really here - sob. Three huge pots on the deck need to come in yet and those 3 clematis still need a home. Better get myself going!! Chat tonight - don't forget!!!

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Okay, I guess I just can't do anything small scale anymore. I do indeed have the flu. I also managed to get a stomach infection and an inner ear infection. The ear infection is what is causing the vertigo, so DH is going to swing by the pharmacy and bring home a bag of drugs for me.

Well I guess I might not be going back to work next week.

Hi again ... just got appointments for me and the baby (4 legged one) :) on Thursday for hair and nails. Looks like everyone is due for highlights? Oh ... only my hair dresser knows for sure. ;) Poor baby looks like her Mama as she's 10 now. Hate that! Those years are rolling by toooo fast. Enough about that :-(
If you liked to sew ... what would be some little nifty thing you'd like as a "just because". The only thing I can come up with is a pin cushion. That just doesn't seem like much of a "just because". hehehe The only thing I have in my sewing kit is a pair of scissors, a needle, some pins and the major colors of thread. Oh, and I do recall seeing a needle threader. A sewer I'm not!
sarv, wish we could play a game of scrabble. I love that game, and the DH just doesn't care a thing about it. He's a TV bug, and I'm not much for that. It's really nice that you enjoy doing things with your parents. You're fortunate to be close where you can.
Hi Carrol ... the English one! Now I'm really confused. LOL!
magoobu, hope Skillet gets a good report.
Casey, be sure and let us all know what the doc says. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
Okay, got to run. The DH is picking me up at 5:30 for errands. The freezer is getting bare, so it's time for Sams. It's soooo bare we're having hot dogs. yuck yuck
... Elaine
Casey, we were posting at the same time. So sorry to hear you have the flu and all the other junk! Hope you have some good drugs. Take care of yourself. On second thought ... tell the DH to take good care of you for us. Don't forget, you can always cry on our shoulders when you're feeling a mite poorly.

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

l01, a small gift for a sewaholic could be a magnet to collect lost pins. A good friend bought me a pin/brooch that I can hang my glasses on so I don't lose them taking them off and on. A gift card at a fabric shop. A coffee mug and one of those pads that plug in to keep it warm. I take a drink and the next I remember its cold again. My kids bought me an cordless handsfree phone for christmas last year. Now when the phone rings I can press the button on thing that is at my waist and talk away while sewing and it is great for the garden and while on the computer.

I feel a bit better today, although the fever is still high and I am freezing. I am a small framed and thin woman so I really can't afford to lose much weight.

DH takes wonderful care of me. I just hate to feel as though I am just holding the furniture in place.

Well, I'll do you a fav then. I'll lose the weight FOR you ... that way all you have to do is concentrate on getting better! LOL And thanks for those great ideas. Holding down the furniture is an okay thing once in a while. :)
Hugs ... E

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Carat, so sorry that you are sick, but with the drugs, you should be feeling better soon. I am headed to the kitchen to start something to eat. I am going to try chat tonight, so may see some of you there.

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

Casey so sorry to hear all of you is feeling!!! Hold the furniture down and try to get some calories in you! Maybe milkshake or something soothing ??
your DH sounds wonderful to take care of you in my house I do all the taking care of everybody a heaven forbid I get sick!!!!
lO1 thanks but she was just going to get her last puppy lymes shot so she did just fine-- we have to make her little girl visit though and I think she overheard that she would have to spend the night and stay calm for ten days following. She was a bit put off by that LOLOLOL.

Sarv thank you for reminding me about chat I get thursday and tuesdays always confused as to wether chat is in am or pm .LOL
Of f to clean up the thrown up puppy chow from the car! Did I forget to mention Skillet apparently should NOT eat ANYTHING before a car ride???

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

A present just for Julie. And I have express mailed the 2X4 for the delightful MIL.

Guess I should have turned it first LOL

I am not allowed to eat dairy, citrus, spicy, tomatoes or red meat for a few days. I wonder if a powdered white cheddar soup mix would qualify for dairy??? I am having strange cravings. Roasted asparagas's, bruschetta on toast, smoked salmon. I have lost my mind....... Help, if anyone finds my mind floating aimlessly out there is cyberspace please send it back. It's way to small to be out wondering alone...
