Coffee and... For Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005
Works for me....! I can mentally erase my to-do list simply by picking up a book, turning on the tv, answering the phone, looking out the door..... among other worthy distractions. And to prove what a worthless wastrel I am, I don't even feel guilty about it.
Link doesn't work for me. Been getting page not found all day.
I did too, page not found, clicked on refresh it came right in
Maria, when you go to buy a prong collar, make sure you have measured Samson's neck below where his ears hang. This type of collar sits far higher than a regular collar, in the pic above it is too low, grrr. You can fine tune the fit by removing links, but they are tough to do, so you might want to just take him with you. Most store managers are very willing to help, even if he won't get out of the car, park close and ask them nice to come outside and help.
Kooger - At least you knew your son was in the play! LOL My stinker has his FFA awards banquet this spring and didn't even tell me until he was leaving that evening. Parents are supposed to go and he got several awards because he was also graduating. I was so p---ed at him! Kids...gotta love em!
We had such a gorgeous day today. Worked outside most of the day. Weekends go much to fast. I think the thundershowers that some of you had are heading our way tonight. It has just started raining and I heard on the radio that we could get hard showers.
Took DGS back home and stopped at the farmers market to pick up some stuff. Boy, do i miss the garden now. stuff at the market is just not as good. I looked at a basket of cucumber and when i took of the 3 on the top, the ones on the bottom were mushy! It was that way in a couple of baskets. Needless to say I came home with no cucumbers.
No problems for me on DG. And Meeze, I know about that procrastination thing. Been doing it the better part of the day. Wallowing in the luxury of electricity. Tomorrow back to work and bout the time I come home, I hope to see Darius come rolling in.
I will be absolutely mortified for her to see my gardens. They are a total shambles. Not because of the storms but because I've been digging and potting to move everything.
I bought a bag of Bermuda grass seed to plant in all the dirt spots in the garden. Jeremy has volunteered to do that tomorrow while I work.
We did a load of laundry today (man that stuff piles up when you have a hurricane) and had to hang the clothes on a rope in the trees. The belt on the dryer broke just before Wilma came and we have had other things to think about since then. Went to Sears today to replace that belt, but they don't have them at the store. But right now, this is the worst of our problems.
Maria, I have been watching your dilemna with Samson, I know it's discouraging, but please hang in there. He's a wonderful dog with a big heart, just what you need to fill a gap in your life. Have patience and you will never regret it.
Molly
:^)))
I know,Molly,once I have a trainer I know he will be ok
Edited to say, I do not think Darius wil be upset at the sight of your garden, she will be so very happy just to see you and that you are giving her room to stay.

Too much going on to comment on all have DH home tonight lol
Maria the pronged collar worked beautifully with Opus and without it he would be able to do the same!
Get one! One pinch (does not hurt them) and they learn very quickly!!!
MG good suggestion! OF COURSE!
Will check in later
Anne
I will get one, Anne, he really is ok just when he meets others, my daughter stopped by, he was all over her, I think she is quite upset for my sake worrying I will get badly hurt handling Samson, she did not say so but I can tell she disapproves that I would get such an undisciplined dog
he will learn it may take a bit of time but the collar will help with walks and all dogs/ puppies need to learn the way of the house ---
Anne
Hi all,
Hey, somebody's trying to steal my title --here I thought that I was the Procrastination Queen! What do you think I'm doing right now, for instance? I have a half-finished ring upstairs commissioned by one of my customers, a leather vest I haven't even STARTED yet that's meant to be a Christmas present for one of my sisters-in-law, a floor vase half full of the remains of parsley blooms and ornamental grass that I meant to arrange, a pot full of gell and unwashed martini glasses that are supposed to be transformed into candles very soon, etc., etc. Oh well, I DO have one more day off tomorrow --- if I don't get commandeered into leaf sweeping by DH.
Hmmmm, I'm hearing ominous sounds from outside --- sounds like a thunderstorm on the way. Quickly then, Maria, hope you can get things sorted out with Samson without getting hurt in the process, since you really are sounding much happier since he arrived! Molly, so glad you got your electricity back and have also made such progress at your new home! Kooger, mg, and Casey --- hope you're all feeling much better. Love the woodcarving, Robert. I know I haven't addressed everyone individually --- my brain just can't keep it all organized! Have to go. Bye everyone.
Wonder if that thunder storm is coming my way, McCool, do not like them
We got it here Maria but breif and Opus was fine which is odd!!!
So hopefully you are spared!!
lol, no I am not it is here
OH NO so sorry!!!!
Bummer
you are right, it is all done, now I can take Samson out before going to bed
Night all
Greetings,
Almost bed-time and the first chance I've had to check in today.
Church this morning - Remembrance Day Ceremony - Canadian Remembrance Day is more like American Memorial Day in that it remembers the war dead (but at the same time honors the vets.)
My jacket went missing while at church. Keeping my fingers crossed. I prefer to think that someone picked up the wrong jacket but who could erroneously pick up a bright yellow jacket without leaving a similar one? Fortunately, I still have my old one, but I've been wearing it in the garden ... Guess if it doesn't get cold enough for my winter coat soon, I might have to wash the old one.
Then two rehearsals. Violas for the OSO had our section rehearsal this afternoon and then the first rehearsal for the OCO this evening. I will be kept rather busy in the next couple of weeks.
I've skimmed the messagess above; so please excuse those I don't comment on.
Maria, I'm glad you weren't badly hurt in your accident with Samson. Please be careful with him until the obedience training is completed.
He can be wonderful company for you, but not if you get injured as a result of his exuberance.
I also had difficulty reaching DG this afternoon between my rehearsals. Then a real thunder storm went through (the same one??) and I shut the computer down entirely.
Good night all.
Ann
night Maria and Samson
sleep tight!!!
I am off to bed myself have dentist appt for my son tomorrow (not a pleasant one) i think I am more stressed than he is worried about how he will react!
Wish us luck will check in after-- about noon tomorrow!
UGH so scared for him his first big experience there!
Anne
still here, Anne, if you have a good modern Dentist, you will not have to be scared, dentistry has very much improved in the last 20 years with all the new technology available to them
I will be extra careful, Ann, will try to keep him away from people as much as possible
Thanks Maria I know this doctor is wonderful just know my son ( 5) is so scared of this tomorrow it has me in knots! LOL
He will be fine just has to have a small chip in back tooth fixed but while there the doctor is going to take his two front teeth (both loose and chipped) as well.
But we are not telling my son until afterwards since he seems so attached to them LOL
Oh wish me luck poor thing is going to be p%$#@$%

~julie~
I do wish you luck, nothing will hurt him I am sure, just keep calm your self, lol
NOW that is the tricky part right???
Your baby crieing and you have to stay cool and calm--- going to get some sleep and try to be just that for tomorrow! CALM!
thanks Maria will touch base with all afterwards!
Night
Anne
kisses to Samson!
"blu",
Have your dentist use Nitrous. We did when Jenna had to get her first filling last year and she thought it was fun! Mommy thought watching Jenna was even more fun! Your insurance won't cover it, but for the $25 or so it is well worth it.
Wish that stuff came in six packs, lol.
Miss Jenna is mad at me, funnily enough over a tooth. She has had this really wiggly front tooth all week, and tonight it was just dangleling by a microthread. So I told her to shut her eyes and open her mouth (which I'm betting she will never do again, lol), and I yanked it with my foreseps. She didn't even get a chance to holler before she was running to look at the gap.
How much is the Tooth Fairy getting these days? She got $5 for the first one, then $1 for the next. I'm thinking $1 again, but maybe an extra quarter for Mommy guilt, lol.
We have a tooth pillow that is set on the dresser, much easier for the Tooth Fairy. It came with a book too, but I haven't seen that in years. This poor pillow is on it's 2nd kid. I'll get a pic in the morning, of the pillow, and the kid, lol.
Night All!
Well, it looks like I missed out on all the chit chat today. Got my book and sat down after supper. Fell asleep, and slept for 3 hrs. I can't believe that! Now I won't sleep a wink tonight. Told the DH he should have gotten me up. He said, "You looked like you needed it, so I figured you'd wake up when you were ready." Sooo, now ... here I am wide awake at 11:30.
It was hot and humid here today. Still wish we could have some of that rain y'all keep talking about. No thunder, please ... just rain.
I, too, know I'm not speaking to everyone so please forgive me. Hope everyone has a good night. I think it's going to be a long one! :-(
Well, we got home about 5:30 tonight, but ran in sort of rearranged traveling clothes, and off to church chili supper. Have spent about an hour an a half just catching up from the weekend. Maria, I am concerned that you will be injured by your lovable Samson, please be careful, and TURN LOSE OF THAT LEASH. He will come back, to smother you with kisses, sorry that he has caused you harm. We experienced thurnderstorms early this morning, not much rain, but thunder and lightening and wind. Didn't have the heart to sign on the DG while at my sister's house, get to visit her so seldom, that I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible.
Mr. B. did a good job of traveling, although I gave him 25 mg of benedryl before the trip, did not make him sleepy enough that he konked out,but was more calm. He usually gets sick, but got within 2 miles of home tonight until he barfed. Had the seats covered with a sheet, and the floors with newspaper, so we did alright. I don't think he enjoyed the trip, as sister's yorkie, exhibited the teritorrial instinct all week end long. Mr. B is not a fighter, just rolled over and displayed submissive behaviour. When we got home he romped in the yard forever. Well enjoed the visit, and will be back on line and keeping up this week.
Sorry, I can't comment on individual posts, but be assured I have read every word from Sat to now. I hope to sleep in tomorrow, as no bed is as good as yours. I am tired, so off to a good dreamless sleep, I hope. Will catch up with you all tomorrow.
today was a good day Jennys gaining wieght . My brother in law came and put all my stuff in the gh for winter. Abbey was here and had a good time as usual. Not going to work tomorrow this makes 3 full weeks lousy Bronchitis,
Now to the tooth fairy where ever you are. Your momma brought my kids a dollar back in the early 70s so whats with a buck now. Please realize kids just wanna have fun and need bucks lol Ernie

$1 in the 70's??? Holy Cwap! I got a dime and a stick of Dentine sugarless gum. (born in '69)
My nearly 15 year old got quarters, 2 or 3 maybe. Once he got $5, but he had 3 teeth removed by the dentist!
My kids made out like bandits and they knew it. Now understand I didn't discover this until just before my father passed and it was by chance at that. My husband and I gave the kids 5.00 for each tooth. My parents also gave them 10.00 for each tooth and on top of that, when I was telling my father in law about the amount of money they were making he started laughing, because he too gave each of them 10.00 for each tooth. So basically my kids made 25.00 a tooth.
I really haven't posted much today but have read everything. I can for sure say its not the 24 hour flu.
Magoo~ I am sure your son will be fine. I hope the same for you too.
Defoecat,~welcome home glad you enjoyed your visit. I am glad Mr. B is happy to be home too.
MG~My kids never would have trusted me the first time with a tooth that loose.
l01~I do the samething and end up messing up my whole sleeping pattern.
Ernie~I sure am glad that Jenny is doing so much better and finally gaining weight.
Maria~I am glad that you got the collar for Samson and pray you dont have to use it but a couple of times before he learns.
Ann~I hope you have the chance to get your gardens done before you get that next snow or rain.
Julie~ thanks for always remembering to start the new thread.
Sarv~my daughter takes fish oil capsule for itchy skin when the seasons change here, she says that it really helps.
Meezer~I just say help every other month or so to my friend and she makes all the grey go away.
Joy~I can wait to have grandkids so I can send them back. I just hope I don't have to wait to long.
Okay, I am sure I forgot someone and I am truly sorry. I blame it all on this flu stuff.
Casey
Hi Casey
Sure hope you get to feeling better. You must take notes or something while you read. LOL I can't keep up like that. I'm reading and know what's going on ... but when I start typing, it flies right out of my head.
I take fish oil caps, also, but they give me indigestion. Does it affect anyone else like that? I know they're good for you, but yuck, they're nasty tasting!
l01~I asked Jenn and she said she doesn't seem to have any problems at all from the fish oil. I looked at the papers that came with hers and it says that indigestion, heartburn and bloating are common issues and avoiding foods high in acid content a couple hours before and after consumption should help.
