Morning Glories 2005 #26

Calvert County, MD(Zone 7a)

Thanks Janett! Hope my info is useful to someone :)

Anyway, when is I. hederacea's pod ready to be picked?
It looks brown and papery now, but I'm afraid to pick it for fear of the seeds being unripe.

feel it, if it feels "crunchy like" and hard, you should be safe, just from looking it appears to me to nearly be there, mine usually have the tiny tip on it fall off when they are ready, can you see if in your photo? like a pin? upper right hand part - the very tip top of the seed pod.

Hey Everyone...here's a pic of my Gypsy Bride if you're interested in seeing it. I posted it on another thread awhile back but don't know which one. I bought my seeds from Plants of Distinction and this one bloomed most of the summer. I went out today and looked and it did produce a couple pods but I don't know if they'll ripen or not. They're still kind of "tough". Just thought you'd want to see the photo though. It does have the blue splotches like Gypsy Bride is suppose to have, you just can't see them in this photo.

(edited to correct spelling!)

ohhhhhhh! *bounces up and down on the balls of his feet* Pleeeeeeeeeze let those seedpods ripen so you can share these with all of us! (grins).

I'd trade quite a bit (big bit) for some of these seeds!!!

Anyway, I've got some of my winter friends started. I'll have silky blue (hybrids), sayaka/maru(hybrids) and I. ochracea if I can get the little buggers to sprout! I have had the worst time with those seeds.

Thank you, Emma for great comments and your pics of beautiful purple AM Glory!
My Grandmother moved into a new log cabin on her wedding day in l911. She gave me a cutting from her vine. As I look out kitchen window, I view this wonderful splash of color.
It is disease and drought resistent and covers my big propane tank. One of my many favorite vines.
Happy Gardening

Ron, (or anyone else with any info on this :) This is a bud on My Heian no Umi plant, The poor thing seems to have lost the ability to distinguish between rays and sepals!?

Also, another of my indoor JMGs ('huge pink' from Arum) seems to be trying to go cordate on me!

Good Grief,
I must have been asleep again.....
Time to start another thread which I will do in a few.

Now I have TWO threads to catch up on -
but, I'll look forward to it.
Have been in Houston again.

Zem, I must say that I would LOVE to be around you and Joseph
IN THE SAME ROOM!
What a riot that would be.

Sandy, your 'Gypsy' is BEAUTIFUL!

You are very welcome SudieGoodman.
Hey, we are 'almost' neighbors.
Believe it or not, I do know where Broaddus is.
Actually worked there when I was selling Yellow Page Advertisment in the East-Texas Area. This would be the Center/San Augustine/Hemphill Area Telephone Directory by TDT that was started probably 6-years ago *-*
Also I have an aunt and uncle who live in Broaddus.
Bill and Rosalie Hunt
. . . . .
What MG vine did you get cuttings of from your Grandmother?
An Annual, or possible 'Blue Dawn', a Perennial?
Does it produce seeds?
Just curious

Ron,
HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Blue Silk (seeds from Dee). Still blooming since summer but starting so show some wear. Single vine has produced over
92 seeds so far. I have 2 seedlings underneath to take it's place when gone.

Jan,
Your 'Pink Satin' is truly lovely.

Here we go to Thread #27

Emma

Ooh, Budgie, I'm glad to see the 'Pink Satin' came out true to form! I wondered if they would, since I had no idea that they were going to come out looking the way they did. Thank you for your support! ;-)

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Pink satin was just getting going when we got several days of rain and cool weather and it's just sitting right now. I can wait until the real MG weather kicks in to see it really peak.
It does have a beautiful silk sheen like blue silk. I may try crossing the 2 next year.
Jan...

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

I'd like to try crossing it too, but I'm worried that in the process, the sheen will be lost. I haven't decided what to cross it with yet...

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

I'm hoping that by crossing it with my blue silk, that the sheen will carry through. We'll see.
