Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Okay, how did you do that?

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Finally, someone can answer Nap's question. I'm curious about that too. How do you produce the musical note?

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

However Shoe does it, it doesn't work on my Mac.

On the other hand, it's quite easy to do º for temp. degree!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Terry, did I say thank you for the * lesson? Thank you.

Maybe this should not be asked here, but better asked elsewhere. But what do you guys (Terry, Dave, etc) do....read every post that comes along? That would be a daunting task. You folks just pop in everywhere.

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

You mean like this? ♫

I only know one way, which is long and it involves Microsoft Word. Maybe someone else knows a shortcut? (Shoe?)

1. Open a document and type the following 4 character code: 266b
2. Then press and hold down the ALT key while typing the letter x key, and release them both. This should make that cute lil double-note character in your Word document.
3. Cut and paste that cute lil character into the DG reply box. ☺

Phew!

I don't see a way to do the degree.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Hehehe....at this point in time, it is now 62º outside, 73º inside...

Inside it is well-lit! Outside it is dark. I'm not afraid of the dark...know why? Cus...

♫ I whistle a happy tune! And hold my head up high....♫...

i'm still looking for the musical note. debi

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

Is that a black eye, Shoe? lol

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Hehehe! That's the black eye ya'll are gonna give me if I keep teasing ya'll!

I luv it! Grinnin' here!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

On a Mac, the degree symbol is simply holdng down the "option" key (kind of like the "control" key on a PC) and typing the numeral "0" after the temp.

I think it's more complicated on a PC...

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I can't do it either, debi. And I can't do degree. Or any other little cute symbols either!!!

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Nope it is super easy on a PC

If I was going to try and do the music note, or another symbol not on my keyboard, I would open up word, insert symbol, then cut and paste it. My dh could make a macro or whatever on my keyboard then so it would be easier. I don't have word on my laptop and I'm too lazy to go upstairs, so I will test that theory later. For now, I can just cut n paste Shoe's ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫

Zuzu, I had so hoped you wouldn't see me out of my sweetie costume, please let's keep this between us?

Getting ready to head up to the house, Folks! However,...

...on a Windows PC...for degree symbol, try holding down the ALT key and hitting 167 on your number pad. (Must be the number pad, not the row of numbers at the top of your keyboard.) Then release the ALT key.

Give it a try. I'll wait a few minutes. :>)

On a PC, as I recall, it's ctrl+shift+equals sign to do superscript. After that, you type an "o" and it ends up half a line above. Then you have to do the ctrl+shift+equals sign again to end the superscript. Yes, Debi and Max, I do know how to type an equals sign, but that turned the whole thing into a confusing formula.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

It's now 39º here.

Wow, it works! Thanks Shoe!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

♫ YAY!!!♫

º I did it!!! You're wonderful!

Your secret's safe with me, Rachel.

Darius and Shoe, I thought you had gone off the deep end when you kept using an epsilon for the degree sign, but then I realized my encoding was still switched to Cyrillic.

Kernersville, NC(Zone 7a)

I don't have a number pad on here, thanks Shoe, I didn't know why I couldn't get my ascii codes to work!

Rachel

mid central, FL(Zone 9a)

i hear that there is some ridiculous site called smileytown where you can download this stuff, but i'm afraid it would be "pop-up" heaven and possibly worse for your pc! i think i will stick to trying to make faces. (*^*)

TF, when I type "266b" (or anything else) I get just that. Alt+X won't change anything. I'm confused (again, as usual).

Oh, scratch my whole post about ctrl, shift, equals sign. You can only do that in MS-word.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

I expected to see something obscene, because Nap's post somehow conveyed the spirit of a whisper from the depths of a dark alley: "Pssst. Wanna see somethin' really cool?" (I was gravely disappointed when I saw what it really was.)

Manhattan Beach, CA(Zone 11)

nap, I know, here is the whole shebang: http://www.jbase.com/knowledgebase/manuals/3.0/30manpages/man/AsciiChart.htm
Hold down Alt while typing 0 plus the ASCII code.

TF, I was talking MS Word. How do you "create" there?

Edited to add 'ß' which is just like a double 's'. I never could figure out why.
