LOL, Happy, but thanks at this age every one likes to hear that, and by the way my hair has its natural color, lots of gray mixed is Cynthia's my daughter, we both were very blond at one time
Just relax,. Happy, and this shall pass too, wishing all the good for you.

Morning Gobs and Ettes!

Funny you are talking about Yogurt, I'm sitting here with my morning cup of Blue Bunny Bananas Foster made with splenda. I've had less problems with IBS since I started my morning with those little "active cultures'. My GI thinks I'm nuts, but hey, it works for me, lol.

Defoecat~~Did you meet Wanda aka wandasflowers from Cedar Rapids, IA? She and Linda_Iowa and maybe some others will be coming over to my house on Saturday. We are going to all go to the Dubuque Arboretum. I'm hoping the fall color is in tip top shape, it's been VERY warm this week (87* today), but we are supposed to get a hard frost friday night. :-(

Bal~~I have raised several pups for service, both as seeing eye and as hearing helpers. I loved giving them the social skills and life experience, and knowing that they would be helping someone made it easier to give them back when it was time. (A little, lol) I think the training they go thru is amazing, but I'm sure you can do it at home with some help. I can't wait to see pics of your new furbaby as it? settles in and starts to get royally spoiled.

Molly~~You pack like I do. When DH got out of the Army in CA, I had our minivan so packed full of 2 dogs, 2 cats, a rat, a cockatiel, 2 4 ft ficus, a huge snake plant, and I think somewhere around 15 house plants. And Dh, Nathan who was 5, and me with a broken ankle at the time, lol. All of our clothes were on the roof. We made the trip in 37 hours straight, and no one ever had to go potty at the same time. There was an 80* temp difference, and the last 70 miles were without heat cuz we blew the water pump. All I can say is Whew, never again.

Marcia~~I'm sending good wishes your direction, and I hope you feel up to dropping into chat tonight. I'm sticking to Pepsi!! And I don't think I will ever live last week down, lol.

sarv~~Ive been lurking in the brugs forum. Oh boy, I feel another obsession in my near future. I had to get in on the naming contest just for the prize!

woodspirit~~I use the same type of marinade on Salmon too. Really Yummy.

Maria~~I can only hope to look half as good as you do when I get there. I'm glad I'm not the only one that was squinting at that pic to figure out which one of you was the mom. BTW, what does the plaque next to the door say?

Joy~~I love to be awake for the sunrise. I consider that my recharge time and I really get dissapointed when it is cloudy, unless of course we are getting much needed rain, lol. I dread each fall the colder mornings that force me inside to enjoy MY sunrise and coffee. Yet I find myself out each spring relishing the same temps.

Happy~~You are not saying much, is something going on?

Darius~~When we moved here I was finally able to get a nice big table. I keep the leaf in all the time, but the chairs are always in the way and I only have 6!

Did I miss anyone? I'm really sorry if I did!

I've been watching the playground at Jenna's school across the street. This summer they installed geo-thermal piping and really tore it all up. They have blown seed on it twice, but it got washed out really bad the first time. That was actually funny because we are on a hill and the whole street at the bottom was covered with it. But anyway, today there is a flush of green starting to appear and the kids are all over by the fencing checking it out. There is fence surrounding about two thirds of the playground and I bet they are getting excited about having it all back.

Well, I need to run errands soon and then finish cleaning before I have those guests on Saturday. Who will be in chat tonight?

Maria, I have to agree with all the others... you don't look 77! I knew you were a tad older than I am, but thought just a year or two from the photo you sent me... not much over my 64 (until Nov.).

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Our good wishes are going with you Betsybug, those tests are almost as bad as the condition they are supposed to detect. By tonight it will be all over, and won't that be a relief!!
Maria, lovely photo. Aren't daughters just the best? Sons are good, but it's always the girls who remember special things.

Absolutely horrid morning here. Septic got pumped yesterday which will run about $200 because both tanks were full. Then they informed me that the float that triggers the pump is not working, which is why both tanks were full. Then they told me they can't replace the float because the float and the pump are one sealed unit. Then they told me if they install a new pump they can have the float and the pump work separately. Then they told me the company that installed the septic placed the pump/float in a location that it is not easily accessible, and someone has to go IN the tank to remove it. Ewww. And then they told me the price. I'm reeling. Called DH at work and told him....and he said, "That's what Home Equity loans are for. I was waving byebye to my new living room furniture.....whew!!

So then, I went into the kitchen and what do I see, a puddle on the floor in front of the freezer. Door wasn't shut tight. Everything is still frozen but believe me when I say I am not driving ANYWHERE, because this is definitely a BAD LUCK day. Sheeeesh!!!

Love Yogurt. Some of the new varieties taste like dessert. Actually, they are dessert .....if you read the ingredients, pretty high in sugar, no wonder they taste good. Banana bread with cream cheese sounds so good. I usually get the neufchatel because of the lower fat content. (My one concession to a low fat diet LOL) It's really good with black olives and nuts mixed in and spread on dark pumperknickel rye.

Molly, you are some packer!!! That van is more than full!! Lucky you have a helping hand there, that's a big job. I once brought home a small sofa in my car....admittedly it was a convertible, so naturally it had to start raining on the way but I got it home. That was when I was young and stupid, now I'm just old and......... LOL.. you know!!

OK back to chores for me. I hope my bad day made everyone else's look better.................... !

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)

MG, I'm impressed! You have been able to keep up with everyone and have a little something to say to them as well. You are quite the memory phenom! I'd give anything to be like you!

Maria, I still want to know, who is the daughter and which are you? The two ladies I see in the picture look like sisters to me.

I was up earlier, at 0230 here, for a couple of hours, but went back to sleep and slept in too. I'm up now and having my first cuppa the day :-) I'm taking my Mum in for her appointment with her doc this afternoon, then whisk her 'round the grocers for a few necessaries. Mum's 95 now and still living in her own home. We've got a little help coming in 4 days a week and Meals on Wheels takes care of the biggest part of her nutrition needs and a house keeper that comes to clean each week. Bless them all, I couldn't keep doing it all like I was for a while there.

It's overcast and cool this morning, hopefully it will clear later and warm up. I still need to plant some bulbs for next spring and I want to get my flags and garden accoutrements put away before the winds and rains really get started here. I had DH pull my hanging baskets down yesterday as the winds were kicking up a bit. Now, forgive this beginning gardener, but can anyone tell me if I can winter over my fuschia and geraniums or do I have to say goodbye to them permanently? I do so enjoy the fuschia hanging from under the eaves troughs and am saddened to see them not be as bright and prolific already. Such is the sadness of Autumn, I suppose.

Enjoy your day all and many blessings on each of you!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Just a quick hello before I head for town. It's cold and windy here today. We woke up to frost and it is all the way up to 40 now with enough wind to go right through me when I was hanging laundry. Have another load to go, but not so many little pieces so it will go quicker and be easier on the fingers!

Aria, you don't look your age, that is for sure. Sorry I missed the birthday, it's getting to be a habit it seems since I missed another birthday last week. You have my permission to celebrate it again whenever the mood strikes.

M5, this septic tank thing will make almost any day look like a good one! They get paid well for unpleasant jobs! On a more pleasant subject, most of the flavored yogurts are way too sweet for me. I buy a big tub of plain yogurt and add jam, fresh fruit, nuts, etc and make it taste the way I like it.

Babs, I guess we are all into the sadness of autum. Yesterday I was working on the clean up, lift, fertilize, move things here and there and replant project. Of course I didn't accomplish half of what I had planned but I might get more done on that this afternoon. Your fuschia and geraniums can be overwintered in your garage or other non-freezing place. Most people cut them back and water them only sparingly for the cold months, then wake them up when the weather warms.

Ok, gotta run.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Babs, I have Fibro and my memory sucks out loud. I jot notes on junkmail envelopes as I read thru the posts, then I shred them cuz if dh saw them I'd be committed.

I overwinter them both. I treat the fuschias as a houseplant in a south window. The geraniums I cut way back and they go to the basement under lights. I've kept some of both alive for several years. The fuschias can be tricky sometimes, so take cuttings too.

http://www.americanfuchsiasociety.org/ Is a great place for info.

Dmail me if you have more Q's.

MG...I'm here....just doin' a little lurking. Besides, everyone has so much to say, I can't get a word in edgewise anyway. and what I would contribute would be...... not much anyway. Boring life. Good, but boring.

Bab's, forget about the fushia...It will do nothing but get white fly....bad....I even tried in my GH when I lived up north and they just didn't seem worth the bother. The ger.. can be put in a cellar, cut back and kept for the spring. That too was not worth it for me either. I guess I'm lazy....no, just have other things I would rather put my efforts toward....that sounds better.

M5, can you get another appraisal for your septic tank? That doesn't sound right. Is that something you can google?

Been outside in the lanai cleaning...ugh...DD coming in a couple of days, so have to be ready for inspection. LOL How the tables turn....

Hope to get taken out to din din tonight, so that's one thing I don't have to do this afternoon. And BTW, it is so dark and gloomy here, I just may take a shower and watch some home decorating on the boob tube. Why not. Oh, oh, just heard thunder....that means definitely no gardening.......not where' that remote?????

Babs, list to MG. Hers worked.....

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)

MaryE, Thank you so much for letting me know I can winter over my geraniums and fuschias! I was soooo lamenting their demise. I'll ask hubby if he will put some hooks up in the garage for me so I can hang the pots and keep them up off the cold floor. Do you recommend putting anything around them, straw maybe or some other insulator? I'll be looking forward to seeing them come back next spring if possible. I so enjoyed them this growing season. Now, since you are much in the same general area as I, do you know if I can do the same for the Bacopas? I have two baskets of those too and would love to save them if possible.

I so much enjoy this website. I'm so GRATEFUL I came across it one day recently and joined. You folks are just the best and I look forward each day to reading what you all have been up to or are in the process of.

Hidey ho, neighbours and please have a good/better day. M5, you're off to a horrible start, but there's still time to turn it around. Hugs to you, dear :-)

Just finished posting and it went some where into space, see if I can remember what I wrote :-((
Came in from cleaning some more from my gardens, it seems to go on forever, my back knows it, but will not tell my Dr. who was very specific not to do this.!
Gayle, I have no idea what that plaques tells me since I did not read it, probably saying it was built in 1690 or so, the town is one of the oldest in RI.
MG, I feel sorry for you and your problems with the tanks, it is the worst. When we built this house 4 years ago , the put in such a huge tank, my DH said "I am not building a hotel" When we sold the old farmhouse we had to put in a new sceptic system, to the tume of $25.000.00! There was nothing wrong with the old one. Your are so right, nothing as wonderful as daughters, I am so glad to have them I would be lost without them. After DH died I seriously considered going back to Vienna and live there, but how could I leave them?
My sons are very nice also but typical male, one called me late last night to wish me a happy birthday. The other did not, he is the confirmed stereo type bachelor and not in the least family oriented. Good thing he is not married, I'd pity his wife.

Babs, you flatter me beyonf bounds! I am on the right! To all of you thanks for so many compliments, it feels soooo good., you should have seen me a year ago, all worn out and very sloppy from taking care of Richard, if only he could see me now he would grin from one ear to the other and say 'Oh, Maria, you look like the day I met you' He was such a flatterer, and I loved it LOL
Maria
Here is a picture where we bought kitchen stuff like place matts, napkins, an oblong strainer that fits very nicely into the narrow part of my sink, all that is in that bag Cynthia is holding.

aria, You are in the most simple of terms.....GORGEOUS!!!! Many happy returns of the day, even if belatedly. I'm sure your Richard would be very proud and once again your knight in shining armour if he had you on his arm.

Afternoon gals - all this talk about 'girls' is making me sad again- you know the same old story - only boys etc. Guess I need to be thankful they are both healthy, not wealthy, and sometimes wise!!

My ditzy sister just called to tell me that she lost her credit card for the 2nd time this year. She is so absent minded!! We laugh and laugh together, but it is a good thing she doesn't live round the corner as she would drive me crazy...never on time, makes incredible messes, etc. But I love her to death.

Haven't done diddily today! Worked out, then took 20 cuttings of some plants and plopped them in some pots. Talked to my neighbor gardening friend. Then sat on my duff and read....Going to make salmon patties for dinner, but the receipe that was on the package is no longer there - and of course I can't remember it! I have looked thru all my many cookbooks and even went on line. They all use the canned salmon and I have the package type. Oh well, just throw it together - DH will eat most anything!!

Tonight we have DGS soccer game -looks like rain - will need to take my raincoat. They play even in the rain - but not thunder and lightning. Only two more games left for the year. I'll miss them.

Maria- you take care gardening- imagine someone not following doctor's orders!! Hey, that's me too!! When my sister and I are together, people always ask if we are related - I always ask "who do you think is the oldest?" W hen they say 'her (ME)' - I LOVE IT!! We are four years apart and I am the oldest. W hen my mom joins us it is like the three musketeers. We all have glasses, short hair and wild laughs...

Well, putty cat is scratching at the screen door- how come she can open it to go out but can't figure out how to open it to get back in?

mg- I saw your name offering in the brug forum. If you win, promise me I"ll get a cutting!! please.... I have several, only two of which I kept the names straight. I have several that are just loaded with buds- however with frost in the forecast, I fear they will be toast. I'm not able to dig them, so keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't frost hard here!!

BB- how did the proceedure go?? Do they go in from the top or the bottom (pardon me for asking that personal question!!)

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)
