You would if you could

Is there any plant you would love to grow but just can't 'cause it doesn't grow in your zone, you have too much shade/sunshine, etc?

Mine is the rose Cherokee. I'd give anything to be able to have this rose but unless I move two zone south it ain't gonna happen.

Hmmmmmm. That's a tough one. I guess the thing I want to grow most but would most likely be unsuccessful at growing would be an olive tree. Unfortunately, they only grow in a Mediterranean-like climate. From what I've gathered, they grow really well in California and maybe a few other places in the US. I'm, unfortunately, not in the "few other places." But, hey, I might try it anyway. I love a challenge!

BTW, I think the Cherokee rose is beautiful, too. I love the way the blooms change color.

Amorphophallus titanum (Corpse flower) The bulb can weigh upto 15lbs. and leafs can spread to 15ftx12ft and the "flower" is upto 5ft wide and tall. I have only seen pictures. I love big and unusual stuff. This plant is both. The plants min. temp is just a cool summer night where I live.

Lilies of the valley...because of the Blake poem and because there used to be a perfume that smelled like them. It is simply too hot to grow them here. These are supposed to be almost invasive...but not in Texas.

Lantana,
There is a very very old homestead that is now just woods by my house. The people must have planted lilies of the valley because there is probably and acre of nothing but daylilies... Very pretty

Lantana, a little story. When my husbands parents were gone, we moved into the home. I was just starting to venture, into plants. These plants were growing along the side of the house. AAHAA, they weren't tall, they weren't a bright color, etc. Pulled them up! Next spring, they were back. Went through the same process.
When I mentioned to my husband, that I could not get rid of them, he told me they were his mother's favorite flower. They now grow, where they darn-well-please and I love them!

Proving once again, phloxy-lady, that all a weed is is a plant out of place.

First time my folks saw our place they wanted to know what we were going to do about all those weeds. Those "weeds" turned out to be naturalized garden phlox, perennial peonies, and a whole bunch of wildings.
