Interspecific hybrid morning glory

Norfolk, VA

I've grown 4 morning glory plants and saved up to 1000 seeds.

I have one question. If I cross two different flowers of different sizes, will the hybrid have a larger flower than it's parents?

My goal for next year is to cross my hybrid with another pure-bred plant to get something extraordinary!

Norfolk, VA

does the plant's health determines if cross pollination is sucessful?

I'm Willing to give my ipomoea purpurea x tricolor cross another try, but this time, I'm using healthier plants.

Wow, this has been a GREAT thread! Thank you, thank you! This is going to be my first year growing a variety of MGs and saving their seeds (ok, I had heavenly blue several years ago, but since it was an unmixed population, I didn't worry about whom would be snuggling up with whom!). I was thinking I was just going to have a fast growing summer screen for 600 feet of fence and a nice little set of vines covering a little trellis by the porch... however, I feel like I may be coming down with a case of MG Fever after reading all these posts and seeing the pictures in the other threads...

I'm glad you like this tread!

Hi everybody, I'm glad to be able to write to y'all once again! My computer was screwing up on me, and I finally got it going back to normal.

By the way, I produced some hybrid seeds that I'm going to be planting in the spring of this year. I crossed Crimson Rambler with Grandpa Otts. I can't wait to see the results of my new hybrid. I'm also going to make the Milky Way x Grandpa Otts cross once again.

Happy Belated New Year!

Tony
