This 'Yuuzuki" was enormous this a.m.!
Gourd,I would love to know what that lovely blue one is,too!
Morning Glorys 2005 #15
Emma,do you think they are what we call'chocolate silk"? This has been a very dissappointing year MG wise...spidermite wars that I am losing,or lush growth with no blooms, yet 'Yuuzuki' has performed phenominally well, with each flower 5 to 6 inches wide.
Gail,
I was wondering too if this is 'Chocolate Silk' in Japan. Same exact color, EXCEPT they are more 'ruffled' to me than any 'Chocolate Silk', or 'Rose Silk' that I've grown before. I love these.
I too have been battling Spidermites this year. Worst year ever. Finally got some Neem Oil and that seems to be doing the trick. I'm not so worried about the ones that are done blooming as the other crops that I have coming up, so I've been spraying everything. Also, I've wondered if I have them so bad because of the way I've let my Blue Dawns go this year. Haven't had the time to keep their runners ripped out as I usually do, and the Spider Mites are all over them.

sure does look like Ipomoea indica...
Emma - The exact species of the Chinese Yellow perennial MG is still not known to me,in fact until I get to see the inside parts of the flower,I'm still not convinced that this is even an Ipomoea...I suspect that it may(!) be a Merremia, but when I get to see a good enough close up of the flower,I'll be able to make a better determination...
A "Hama no Haru"...

Ron,that was gourd that posted that.I'll bet it is ,too as she states it is a perennial.
Ron,
Silly question, but have you grown seeds from I. Indica?
I am curious if they produce True.
Thanks for the information on the China Yellow.
I am very curious what this does turn out to be.
I'm planning on taking some of the 'rooted runners' to pot up.
If they survive, LMK if you'd like me to send you some and I'll be happy to.
Your 'Hama no Haru' is incredible!
Love the pattern and colors.
Emma
Time to move on.....

All these MGs are beauties...
Emma: that blue one (blue dawn) is I. Indica/Acuminata, I did plant a couple of seeds last year to see if they come true, the plants have not bloomed yet. Have lots of seeds if you want some.
The dark purple shot is President Tyler.
That other one is unknown to me, got it from QueenB, I think was labeled Joyce Cobb. I love it though, whatever it may be.
Ron: My initial thought was merrima also on the Yellow Chinese MG. I may still have seeds left from ebay. Let me know if you would like some. I'll go check...
I posted these reponses here so that it would be easier to keep it together with the photos. Will mosey on down to the new thread.
Jan,
Love your 'Pink with White Edges'.
Very Nice!
9kittymom,
