I'm trying to cross crimson rambler with flying saucers. I just want to know if they are allowed to cross.
Does ipomoea purpurea cross with ipomoea tricolor
Ipomoea may have a haploid number of 14 or 15.
For Ipomoea purpurea the chromosome number is 2n=30. It will cross with 4x=60 or 6x=90. When the chromosomes are in odd sets it will be sterile. I could not find the chromosome number for I. tricolor. If it is 2n=28 it probably won't work.
What website did you use to find all this information?
here you have a site.

I will keep crossing I.tricolor with I.purpurea, I might get better luck next year
Is I.Tricolor the same as I.Violacea? If not, what is the difference? I've been told that I.Violacea has a chromosome number of2n=30
