Hello Everybody(!),

Janis - maybe the following links will help

http://taxa.soken.ac.jp/Asagao/E/Introduction/htmls/20.html

http://taxa.soken.ac.jp/Asagao/E/Introduction/htmls/21.html

Gail - Your ANM still looks like it has a 'tad' more color inside of the throat than is pictured on the Atariya package...what do you think...I agree that the company that Laurrie 's seed from has their own version of ANM...

Emma - It looks like there's some overlap in the Akatsuki no Hikari and the Akatsuki no Kaori...
I like the Dainitchirin...like the way that the white 'spikes' out of the throat are extending out along into the secondary folds in addition to the primary ones...nice extra effect that doesn't always appear...

Linolnitess - The blue flower you have that is showing the white dashes looks like it is expressing one of the "Blizzard" type genes...there are at least several types of Blizzard genes and the effect can skip generations...That extra flap looks like one of the stamens or pistil turned into a petal...can you tell from looking at the flowers which part is turning into the petal...if you still have a pistil ,then you can be sure to put some pollen onto the stigma to insure that they self-fertilize and/or produce seeds...

Ron, That is exactly what I was looking for :)

I felt really silly asking, but Thank You so much

Janis - It's a good idea generally to become familiar with using the search engines and knowing how to construct a search...taking some initiative and trying to locate on your own what it is that you are looking for is a healthy self-sufficient approach, but if you can't find what you're looking for...always ask...I believe that one of the reasons the more experienced Garden Menbers are here is to assist those who are trying and interested to learn more...I have sent that same exact link to many others and I presume I'll be continuing to send it...as others relatively new become interested to learn more...I try to do what I can,but I don't know everything(!) either...there is alot(!) that I have to learn...

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

That may be true Ron, but I''m learning alot from you and the others. I appreciate the "sharing of the knowledge" very much

One beautiful bloom: light blue with a dark blue streaks/dots, white throat. Heart shape leaves. This flower also glitters, but I could not capture it in picture without altering the flower's true color.

It looks like it's a mix of pink and blue MG, with a touch of glitter. I really love this beauty.

The leaves shown are not variegated. They are just un-healthy leaves.

Is there a name for this MG?

Thank you

~Eliza~

Emma, the opener flower picture on this thread is really breathtaking. Wow!

Joseph

Here are two new ones that opened up this morning.

Maisugata.

Here is Yaguruma, which I have seen spelled Yagurma as well. Either way, I enjoy the vivid red in this flower! And those cool leaves!

Here is what I am calling "Cynda's Surprise", I enjoy the blue color on the flower even though it was not what I bid for on eBay!

I have listed more Blue Silk, Star of India, and Mount Fuji Pale Purple images in my thread titled 2005 JMG Parade from my garden, cultivars that I have previously listed in this thread a while back...I am doing so as to reduce the proliferation of repeat flowers.

kateliza_id - The I.purpurea you have is nice...I don't know that is has a specific common...the second photo does look to be of a more fuschia color...did you wait until later in the day to take the different pictures as the outer edges of the flower in the second picture are more folded inwards, like the flower was starting to fade and close up...

Here is a comparison of two that bloomed recently...one is the medium color blue and the other is a of a darker color with an all fuschia throat..the pictures were taken in sunlight...the darker color is the way it appears in full sunlight...no 'trick' photography or other added 'special effects' needed...

These two pictures are of Akatsuki no Murasaki...grown from Sakata's seed...these are from the same plant that produced an unusual pink one off of the same vine as I had posted previously here

Another photo of the same two above...nice shading between the fuschia and the lavender-purple bands...looks somewhat 'velvety' with some sheen added in...

Heian No Kagayaki. This just began blooming this week. Color lightens as vine ages

This one keeps getting bigger. At least 5" across

Willoughby, OH(Zone 5a)

which one is that? Do you have a name?

Santa Ana, CA(Zone 9b)

Ron,

The two pictures are taken at the same time of day. One is under the shade and one under the sun light. The shapes are different because the wind was blowing.

Don't trust the color of the one under the sunlight (second picture). It's not the true color. I posted it up just to show that it has the satin-look.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Golgi, I'm not sure it's the only pot without a name. It may be a cross from Emma. Any guesses?

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

Laurrie - That blue one is nice and glad the Tobihino doesn't look like the picture...I didn't grow it this year...suspected it would be just another chocolate-rose...

Gail - That pale lavender-blue is interesting...I haven't seen that one out of the Sunrise mix yet...I'll be on the lookout...
The Kagayaki seem to produce alot of variants...
