Woofens,
Sorry to be the one to break the news to you, but your Blue is Not 'Blue Silk'.
You have a Heavenly Blue Ipomoea tricolor.
[All tricolors will have a YELLOW throat].
But, the blooms really are pretty.
Also, Blue Silk has Variegated Tri-Lobed Leaves.
Your vine has Heart-Shaped Leaves.

Here is photo of one of my Blue Silks from this morning

sigh.............. thanks Emma :) I was hoping, but figured it wasn't. I'm really glad to know about the yellow throat, I didn't know that. Its going on my index card for Ipomoea Tricolor.

*mental note* remember to BEG EmmaGrace for seeds this fall* LOL

Yours is beautiful. I know I planted blue silk :( Oh well, I"m gonna have lots of these :)

Thanks again
Janis

Thanx!

Sorry Ron, no photos of Seiryu from the side...judging from the last photo, they probably aren't the same flower.

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

Gail - based on the pictures I saw of your blooms from last year and what you have this year,...I think yours is producing a 'Royal Robe' look as part of the pattern that is has built into it,but my impression is that it is of different parentage...;
The type that you have looks more similar to the type of cycling patterns that some of Emmas produces...;
These types of 'blues' were coming out of the Tairin-Zaki mix from a few years ago...every year the types that come out of the Takii and Sakata mixes changes somewhat,despite both companies claims to consistency in the mixes...;
Here is a lavender-pink tie dye that showed up recently...;

btw,how are the blue silk comin' along?

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok, I'm just now reading all that was posted the last few days,
since I've been out of town.
ALL of the MG photos are just incredibly beautiful.
Isn't it a shame that we can only enjoy them for a few hours,
with some not even that long.

lincolnitess
Would LOVE a couple of your seeds of this awesome JMG.

Did you ever get an ID on it?
Emma

Willoughby, OH(Zone 5a)

lincolnitess thought it looks like my akathoukinoumi,and I think he's right. His photo captures the blue better than mine.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

I am going to start another thread since this one is getting long.
It will start with an AWESOME and unusual Tye Dye.

Wow, that is a strong looking vine. It ought to be 20 feet long in another couple weeks (just kidding, but they do take off fast).
