My neighbor is planning a big party at the end of this month, Aug. Her annuals, petunias and marigolds, have been in since June. They are soooo wimpy and small. She has miracle gro'd them 2x but I suggest she scratch in a bit of steer manure to get them to take off. Was that the correct suggestion? What else?
Flower boost
I know my weather is a lot different, but by this time of year the petunias are pretty much played out. Maybe she should just get something else to put in. I have also seen some discussion on one of the forums about "Messenger", but don't know if it would be too late to use that or not.
right now Petunia's all around here are at their max, just big and bright. Hers look like she put them in 10 days ago.
Messenger sure kicked mine into overdrive this last.Jan.-June.
Wa. stays cooler than myown zone 8, so I'd try that and/or Spray and Grow.
An contractors pack (18 plants) or two couldn't hurt.

My petunias were starting to get leggy and the blooms were sort of droopy. I took my pruners and cut them back to about 3 inches, and watered them with a stout solution of miracle grow and in 2 weeks they are georgeous.
That's the best advice. I got a second hot June flush from those I planted Jan 6 by doing just that.
