I am looking for a "kid safe" ground cover that my daughter can plant to fill an area in her front yard that seems to only be able to grow crab grass. Is there such a thing? I don't want anything that would be a hazzard to my three grandchildren (4, 2, .0.1). Anyone have any suggestions?
Kid Safe Ground Covers
One little question: what do you mean by "kid safe"? Are you asking for kid proof: as in kids can run over it or run through a sprinkler where it grows? Or safe as in non lethal?
Are you also looking for a non-bloomer that will not attract the stinging critters?
Sedums and creeping thyme are great. But you'd first have to kill out the crabgrass or it may overpower what you plant there.
You can also get some beautiful irish moss. And if you'll check walmart and lowes, they often sell "steppables" like sedums, thymes, mosses, and other kinds of plants that are traffic tolerant.
