How to get rid of fruit flies??

Graham, NC(Zone 8a)

I've gotten fruit flies in my house. Any home remedies or tricks to get rid of these @#$%^&?? Thanks for any help.

Get a spider?
Just kidding. In my house, if I can find the thing they are attracted to and get rid of it, the flies usually disappear soon after. They do get caught in flystrips too.

If you can find a tiny narrow-necked bottle such as some mint or other essences come in or maybe some perfumes, use a very tiny funnel and put some balsamic vinegar in the bottle. Leave it out around the fruit and the flies will enter it and not be able to get out again.

I had some fruit fly traps from Lee Valley Tools
http://www.leevalley.com/home/Search.aspx?c=&action=n

and they worked, but the bottle works better and you have the added fun of seeing how many flies you are trapping. ;-)

Lee Valley, BTW, is an Ottawa-based company which has now expanded into the USA as well as all over Canada. They have great stuff and lots of things for gardening.
