Wow, it's beautiful Kell.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Jackie. Not worth crying over. THANKS ALL. I think I will keep her. LOL

Sherry, yes very fragrant. Last night I was out so late and it was so overpowering.

Here is a very entertaining bloom. A thrill each time I see one opened.

Soooo pretty.... :)

OMG, and fragrant too!!! She is a delicious beauty, and I really love the ones that smell like heaven, the stronger, the better but I love the light fragrances too. I'll stand in line as long as it takes for this one....

Where do you all find those white strips you label your Brugs with??? I have been looking everywhere and cannot find anything even remotely similar! I have several Brugs and sure would be great to label them so I don't have to depend on my poor memory to remember which is which--especially come cutting/rooting time!! hehehe Thanks!! Bonnie

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Bonnie, what kind of white strips are you talking about?? The best/easiest/cheapest thing I've found is one of those plastic ties, with mini blind pieces, with a place for the time made with a small hole puncher, one of those hand numbers. I use a Sharpie to write the names. I love them and keep some cut up, ready to go at all times...if mine aren't attached to the plant, there's always a chance a dog, cat, squirrel, kid or limb will do them in...

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Bonnie, if you type 'vinyl plant labels' in Google, I'm sure you'll find several sources but I order mine along with several other hybridizing supplies from Earh Star, Inc. http://app.infopia.com/Shop/Control/fp/SFV/13129

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

you can find them on ebay too.....

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I buy the cheapest vinyl mini blind I can find, usually a 23 x 72 inch for about $4. This yields about 350-400 depending on whether I make 5 or 6 out of each slat. I use a piece of panty hose for a tie and a hole punch.

Sherry, I found that Sharpie fade in the sun, so I use Rub a Dub Laundry marker. Some of mine are several years old and have not faded. Now, the squirrels taking them is another matter.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

yep, Sharpie fades. I buy the paint pens from Wal-Mart or Michael's craft store, they work great and come in fine and extra fine point and they do last.

Laurens, SC(Zone 8a)

Thanks everyone!! Guess going the cheap blinds cut up and hole punched would be cheapest and best?!! THANKS!! Bonnie

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Hey, Bonnie.
There's a nursery I frequent around here, and I asked them one day if they had some plant markers I could *buy*....they *gave* me a bunch....nice large ones....pink, though...not white.

Thought I'd mention that...it's worth a shot?!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Sue, do you have to shake the paint pens to get them to flow??

Ada, I think it was sent me the Rub a Dub pens a couple of years ago. I now use them. I just bought a ton on eBay. A good pencil works great also.

I use HD cheapie blinds. In the past I used 11 inch plastic ties, but now I use the 14 but I am afraid they are still too short. I put them on as soon as I pot up from the red cup to the gallon size. A tag alone in the pot never worked for me.

So how do you use the panty hose? I bet it stretches well. Do you cut it in strips? Does it disintegrate in the wet and sun over a year or 2??

Thanks, Linda & Sue!! I'll get a more durable pen for my next marking go round!!! I love the mini blind tags, except next time I buy ties, I'm going to buy larger ones...

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It is more beautiful this time than before Kell.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Susie is correct, more beautiful every time; however, with regard to fragrance, there is no such word as overpowering in my fragrance dictionary...

Yes, shake the pens and dont leave in the sun! Makes a dripping mess, I know!

Hilltop Lakes, TX(Zone 8a)

I was drawn to this tread by the picture of Ruthie...oh my goodness that is the most beautiful pink I have ever seen...and double to boot.......I am biting my knuckles to control the lust.......but what a coup to read of your mini blind-rub-a -dub, marker plant tag instructions...I was just getting ready to toss some old blinds...what a wonderful solution to a problem I have been having...thanks! Buffie is just to fine too!....but the pinks...oh my gosh...the pinnnkkksssss

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You would be happy then Sherry. I was out there today fussing with the blooms taking their anthers and then pollinating them. Poor flowers. Anyway, they still had a lot of fragrance!! I could not believe it so late in the morning.

Thanks Susie and Sherry. The blooms do pretty well until I destroy them when pollinating. LOL Today I used EP. I am hoping for a couple of EP pods.

Thanks Pokiethepickle. I love Ruthie too!! I have one of these in my yard in the ground and I can't wait till she flowers. She is putting on a canopy now. I want to see if she looks different in the ground than in a pot.

Springfield, OH(Zone 5b)

I recieved some brugmansia where the person had written the name on the trunk! It is still there and I have no doubt which ones are which. I am keeping it in mind for when I bring these in to winter over

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Kell, with the panty hose, I buy the cheapest ones I can find, usually knee-highs. Then I cut across the leg in about 1 inch strips which makes a round which does stretch. I usually put them on my arm like bracelets. When I need to use one, I cut it, slip through the hole in the blind and tie it on. They last well and don't damage the trunk unless you forget to move it up and in the case of LA X EP, the trunk is so stout I had to untie it and move it up.

Did I tell you how much I love LA X EP?? It is a beautiful tree and so straight and strong. It needs no support, the trunk is at least 2 inches in diameter.
